'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Does Billy Ray regret his Miley tell-all?

Billy Ray Cyrus revealed in an interview with GQ magazine that he should have never let Miley become so “Hannah Montana” famous.

Cyrus says the show destroyed his family, and he's now scared for his daughter Miley. In the wake of those comments, Billy Ray has canceled his appearance on “The View.” Does this mean Billy Ray regrets his Miley tell-all?

I think on some level, he might. He obviously had a need to get the stuff he said off his shoulders. But if it caused a major rift with his daughter, he may be finding that telling-all wasn’t worth it in the grand scheme of things.

What do you think? Post your thoughts below.

Other big stories on the show today…

Lady Gaga just revealed how a bad romance with booze keeps her fit enough to fit in an egg!

We're also talking about Ashton Kutcher's big bet on Jennifer Aniston! Tune in tonight to find out why he wants a date with the "Friends" star.

See you on "Showbiz Tonight" live at 5 p.m. ET and again at 11 p.m. ET/PT on HLN today!

Considering his own experience, he has no one to blame but himself. He knew what showbusiness was like, and the way it can chang you, but nevertheless, he allowed his child to enter that world.

She is now a product of his choices.

We can't know everything that's going on between Miley Cyrus, her mother Tish and her father Billy Ray. One thing is for sure, that is that Tish, as Miley's mom and her manager and her movie producer and CEO of Miley's film production company is the "handler" Billy Ray talks about when he complains in public that Miley's "handers" are keeping him away from her and putting her in danger (Billy also has his close friend Dolly Parton spouting the same lies–she said the same thing on an interview with Larry King!). The fact is that Miley is furious with Billy's immature–insane–violations of her private life and she's instructed all of her employees to refuse all calls from her idiot father. She knows that her loudmouthed Michael Lohan of a father has done grave damage to her career and she's got every right to be livid with him. My guess is that it's going to take Billy Ray a long time to repair his relationship with his daughter. Billy Ray, in my opinion, has a good excuse for his inexcusable violation of his daughter's privacy and the lies he told about her: he's obviously suffering from a mental breakdown and GQ took advantage of that fact. If should have been apparent to the GQ reporter when Billy Ray insisted that they sit in the dark while they did the interview that there was something seriously wrong with Billy. Then when Billy started ranting about his visions of Satan, comparing Atheists with devil worshipers, comparing his daughter to dead rock stars he knew, and in general trashing his daughter's reputation, especially given the fact that Miley's a relatively tame kid who's never been in any trouble with the law and never done anything wrong or hurt anyone, the GQ reporter should have had the moral decency to call the interview off and certainly the editors of GQ should never have published Billy Ray's insane rants.

FACT: I REMEMBER WHEN I WANTED TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY TENNIS, IT TOOK TIME
AND LOTS OF PRACTICE. I MADE SO MANY MISTAKES.
BUT I LEARNED TO PLAY THE GAME.
BEING A PARENT YOU ONLY GOT ONE TIME TO GET IT RIGHT..
WHY, BECAUSE BY THE TIME YOU LEARN HOW TO HANDLE A BABY
NOW YOU GOT TO DEAL WITH A ADOLESENCE WHICH IS A DRAMATIC TRANSITION.
THERE ARE NO PERFECT PARENTS. WE DO THE BEST WE CAN AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.
BILLY RAY IS SAYING, IF I HAD ANOTHER CHANCE.
BILLY THIS IS WHAT ALL PARENTS SAY....NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR CHILD.. THEY
WILL BREAK YOUR HEART, BUT LET THEM KNOW YOU LOVE THEM AND ALWAYS LEAVE
    THE DOOR OPEN.

WE DO THE BEST WE CAN....AND THIS MY SON IS WHAT YOU DID.
IF YOU DID DIFFERENTLY IT COULD STILL TURN OUT THIS WAY, WHY BECAUSE A
CHILD AS THEY GROW UP THEY BEGAN TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS.
NOW HERE IS WHERE YOU COME IN THE PICTURE...DAD..YOU MAKE YOURSELF
TO BE THERE WHEN SHE NEEDS YOU.

If Hannah Montana destroyed his family, shouldn't he be putting blame on himself as a parent by signing of on that contract instead of putting her in school and growing up like a normal kid not in showbiz?

Billy Ray should not have aired all that dirty laundry in public. More harm done than anything good. Maybe he needed a shot of attention. All he accomplished, aside from getting media attention, was to push his daughter away and put her in greater danger of hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I agree...as a parent I feel your child will be more open to hearing your views if it is done one on one..and not in public..or in this case on a public platform...(much worse)...i hope they can get past this ..I wish the best to there family....

For some reason, hollywood parents or couples seem to have to air everything out instead of a private dinner or phone call to ONLY those concerned!
