We’re all quite familiar with James Van Der Beek’s sensitive side (will the crying gif ever get old?), but this time around, he’s going to try to make you laugh.
According to Deadline.com, the 33-year-old actor has been cast in what could be his first regular comedy, a pilot for ABC called “Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apt. 23.” (No, seriously – that’s what it’s called.)
The plot line focuses on June, played by “The Good Wife’s” Dreama Walker, an “earnest, honest, optimistic girl from the heartland” who has to move in with party girl Chloe in New York City. The sexy yet unstable character, played by Krysten Ritter (“Confessions of a Shopaholic") will also have “the morals of a pirate.”
Van Der Beek has been handed the role of Chloe’s best friend, but will essentially portray a version of himself – kind of like Neil Patrick Harris in the “Harold and Kumar” movies, or “Friends” star Matt LeBlanc in “Episodes.”
Taking the reins as director will be “Modern Family’s” Jason Winer.
