Yes, Lady Gaga arrived in an eggTalk about making an entrance. Lady Gaga arrived at the Grammy Awards on Sunday in a giant pod, carried by four muscular men. We didn't expect anything less from the "Born This Way" singer, whose unique arrival suggests she was born from a translucent egg. Or not. Nicola, of the Haus of Gaga, tweeted for the pop star earlier in the night: "Gaga is in incubation." Thanks for the clarification, Nicola. What do you think of Gaga's buzzed-about arrival?

I think it was the most obnoxious and self-centered thing I've ever seen at the Grammys. it sickens me to think of the millions and millions of fans she has.

Lady Gaga is nothing more than a freakshow. I'm not saying she's not a good singer, or that she isn't a talented musician, because she is. Songwriter? Not so much. Most of her songs are just words put to music.
What I AM saying is that most people are blinded by these outrageous and unneccessary stunts, costumes, and performances into thinking that she's some sort of 'musical genius!'. She's nothing more than girl who didn't get enough attention growing up.
So, go ahead Gaga and take your millions to the bank, but just remember you're not getting one cent from me.
PS. What is it with people who require choreographed dance routines to enjoy music? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of music? Just a thought.

I just don't understand why you people care so much about how she arrived at a bloody awards night. How does her going to an awards show in an egg effect you? How does her being called original effect you? The people who think she is original are naive and the people who get angry because she isn't are narrow minded. Almost everything has been done before, one way or another. Deal with it, move on. Also, invest in a life, because this argument has been going on for days.

I'm sure anyone would call that art. She just wants attention and we give it to her unfortunately. Country and a few others (and I'm not even much of a country fan) saved the Grammy's from CRAP like Lady Gaga.

This is to any of us at moments when we have our cruise control on AutoHate. My faith, hope, belief, or whatever you need to call it, is LDS, that's "Mormon". What does that have to do with Lady Gaga. Um, she is I believe straight as am I. However, proactively supports gay rights. I actually support gay rights along with a most of other human rights. Gaga has great intentions for individuals to be happy. I haven't heard officially, but obviously the egg represents being born. It's a freaking theme and you need to listen up. I think Gaga and her people are brilliant right now. They taught you something about judging... You were judging her before she even came out of the egg whether you knew it or not, you were waiting to see what came out before you talked. But you had your comments waiting in the holster. Gaga is on the cutting edge of helping all of us to love a little bit more. That's my opinion. I get judged everyday for my religion and people are so wrong about their judgments. People are so dense that it does take Gaga showing up in an egg to penetrate. So, if YOU and I would stop being so dense, she wouldn't have to show up in an egg. If she only does it because she's a loony, even better. Why did I state my religion? Eh, I'll leave that up to you to decide. Who is "you"? I don't know the answer to that question. But you might.
Finally, WHO cares if she copied Madonna. If she did, all the better. Cee Lo copied Elton John. Who do you copy?! ! The person who said "Ask yourself, would millions watch to see YOU show up in an egg?!" Nailed it. Gaga is amazingly talented. Go onto youtube. I'm a logical person and for the life of me, I don't see how anyone, ANYONE can say that Gaga is not talented and not call themselves also not talented in judging talent or in having math skills. I don't approve myself of all of the things that she does. But overall... She wins.
If LadyBoy Gagas music were worth two shyts then all these costumes, eggs, publicity would be unnecessary. The Bytch is awful.
I personally think it's ridiculous that people can't show up to anything as an artist and look respectable. I am a singer and I am in college right now for music education and anytime a singer performs they are in a suit and tie. I'm not saying that every artist should wear that no it's stylistic, but at the same time if you are going to a Classy awards show (where you might not win anything) don't try to out do everyone by dressing (if that's what you can call it) foolishly.

You could se it in her face that she new what she was doing or had stolen........one hit wonder......and that's being nice about it. If Pink Floyd was art and Lady GaGa was entertainment then I suppose Red Skelton would not have been comedy but a professional politician cause the politians are not professional allowing a conartist into the White House named Barack Obama. This proves that comedy can come in any shape that Lady Gaga spits out at her audience either in a pleasing mode or middle of the road mode or her last chance to persuade her audience as she trims the fat off and tosses herself at them in a disgusting mode. Lady GaGa don't impress her audience, she actually tantalizes them to the point of almost a hipnotic suggestion and then backs off as her presentation comes to a end. The media loves to tear her performance up in a analytical way which seems like they are telling everyone not to attend any of her performances and to either do something else (having a few interesting side entanglements anyone could get into without trying) or to stay at home or whatever you call home and not go on a trip just because she has a performance nearby.
Everyone needs to stop hating on Gaga, people said the same thing about artist such as Andy Warhol because they didnt understand his creativity. Before you judge make sure you know the facts, Gaga was 1 of 20 students accepted via early decision to NYU Tisch School of the ARTS at age 17 , she plays instruments (piano) and writes/composes most of her own music then you say she is not an artist. I beg to differ..

i can't wait until people finally get tired of this girls' ridiculous flamboyant antics. her ridiculous costumes and antics are going to eventually bore people though. it's one thing being flamboyant on-stage but being ridiculous in her day-to-day life isn't get to get her very far for very long as people are going to tire of her always being on show and not really being real. her performance wasn't bad but it was pretty much so-so and nothing special. i'm guessing that 5 years from now her popularity will have waned to the point where people won't pay her much attention anymore as people will have tired of her antics and moved on to some other "next big thing".

Funny how everyone likes to claim that she has "no talent." She gained early admission to Tisch, but I'm sure since you are all experts in all things music that means nothing to you. You don't have to like her; she's clearly not for everyone. But if you think that she's just going to up and disappear and no one will remember her? You are seriously delusional. I'm sure many people said the same things about Madonna, and here we are decades later discussing her and comparing Gaga to her. The same thing will likely happen in a few more decades but instead people will be comparing the new person to Gaga. If you hate her, just ignore her. What i found much stranger than lady gaga was mark anthony and jlo. He looked like he was on heroin or had been up for a week solid and she seemed to be very embarassed at his behavior and sorta came off like she was trying to cover for his obvious wierdness.
She is a performance artist who works with the music industry. If she can keep people entertained, she is doing her job. Think of it as being a spinoff of MTV. If your videos do well, people may ignore the fact that you are not the best musician in your genre.

It never ceases to amaze me how people like Lady Gaga become famous. It just goes to show you the mentality of the world these days. The more weird and freaky people are the more famous they become. Having no talent never seems to make it into the mix. These freaks continue to make money in spite of their lack of talent or morals. As was said at one time in history "what fools these mortals be." This is never more true than in today's society.
I love the photographer at the end saying "That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life". She may be talented, she may be great at keeping them coming back, but she needs to get over herself. She'll never compare to the likes of MJ, Springsteen, Elvis, etc.
When tour career depends on topping yourself at awards shows year after year – meat dress last year, being hatched this year, sooner or later you will run out of ideas. If she's going to copy Madonna, even Madonna didn't go to this extent to promote herself (and, IMHO, distract from her music).

After all, she is doing nothing more then marketing a product, earning money from that product and she is honest about the product she is selling ( herself) all without hurting anyone, few capital based corporations that sell product to the world can say the same.
Seeing that she is making profits off sponsors and a fan based target audience; If you dislike the product, then ignore the product, don't buy the product and don't comment about the product. This will cause the target audience to decline, forcing the sponsors to pull out and the business will be forced to reinvent or drop the product. GO CAPITALISM

She's no Peter Gabriel from the 70's. His outfits and outrageous costumes were to accentuate the music of Genesis which was actually created by the band and performed by the band. I like a bit of theatre in music but for me it all died when Gabriel left Genesis.
And to those who would say stop living in the 70's I will say this:
Its what I have to do to find the true essence of music and a good performance. There were no autotuners back then and the bands of the time only had to fall back on sheer talent and not hope that the auto tuner tracks the vocals properly and keeps it on pitch.
I hope she is enjoying her celebrity, but she is playing a game used by bands who were doing it long before her time. No claim to originality, just a copy who uses an auto tuner on stage, if she actually sings for real on stage, and in the studio.

This is the only thing I give gaga credit for: she has made millions for creating an image that is solely based around rehashing 80's artist, and being outrageous for the sake of being outrageous. Nothing she does is original folks; everything she has done, has been done, it's all done for publicity and hype with some "deep meanings" tacked on so she can justify why she's doing it, when really, it's just a PR ploy. Without a doubt she is talented, and could do more with it, but she's smart, she knows that she can make a whole lot more money being this wacky character than at being a true artist. She's merely an entertainer, and nothing more. Bravo to her for realizing that, but I don't think she is all that everyone makes her out to be. I see through the charade, and she's laughing all the way to the bank.

She's smarter than most people giver her credit for. She's built an empire in a short amont of time and is rich beyond belief. She discovered a niche and took advantage of it. Good for her. She gets the last laugh. I'm not a fan of hers, but I was impressed by her interview on 60 mins. She's got brains, and its paying off, literally. And you have to be in pretty darn good shape to do what she does consistently.

I just watched an interview with Gaga on 60 minutes with Anderson Cooper last night. Whether your a fan of hers or not she wants to shock and awe people with her behavior. Her fans expect this. I grew up with Madonna. Gaga is no Madonna, she is better when it comes to changing her image!

1.) If Ms. Gaga has changed so much as to be reborn from a pretty dang large egg, Does she now become a Yolk singer?
2.) Between the Super Bowl and the Grammys, there are just too many food references that do not agree with my under developed palate; the Super Bowl gave us Black Eyed Peas and now this... Green Egg and Gram!

All I have to say is that both my 88 yr old grandmother and 5 yr old neighbour know who she is, so she must be doing something right. Think about it, there are very few people who don't know who Lady Gaga is...Getting your name out there is more than half the battle in entertainment.

Gaga has to supplement her act due to her lack of superstar talent and looks. If you see her in normal attire her nose sticks out too much. She puts on a show everyday and most people eat it up. She cashes the checks and then tries to be even more extreme each day. I think she has about 1 more year of validity.

I think her music and fashion are boring–just borrowed from the 80's but without the meaning that those things had back in the day. However, I give her props for trying and for thinking outside of the current day box (even if she is not creating anything new). I also think she is probably a very nice person, and respect the fact that she speaks out on causes. Unfortunately we are living in a time where the younger generations are cut off from true musical knowledge and history, and the culture is getting shallower and shallower. Lady Gaga is breaking the modern day mold, even if it is not with all that much talent. At least she is trying though.

Im not into pop – at all – but I listened to a few of her songs out of curiosity... she has Ok range etc but her gift , and its a god given wonder – is that slight mid-tone scratchiness. Beautiful. You all are taking her so LITERALLY, when it's all just a big joke and performance...because it's FUN that way. The egg thing up there–just look at the men and women. They have shaved eyebrows and temple/cheek prosthetics. Clear homage to Star Trek (or even just "general sci-fi") aliens. Yet the men have "good boy" conservative haircuts, just to mess with your heads. Go check out your local library's sci-fi section, and look at the coverart for some of the stuff from the 70s and 80s. Yeah. See the similarities? That's where she's pulling some of her influences from. And those who have mentioned David Bowie are probably correct too. Or, go watch the movie The Fifth Element, and the character Ruby Rhod. I'd be very surprised if she hasn't put together her public persona with her thoughts on that sort of archetype, with a very lucid mind and eye. She's just playing a game of costumes and expectations and showmanship, and everyone seems to think it *means* something literal, when it's really in the grand old tradition of Circuses and Operas. Pure showmanship. (Or show-woman-ship.) It's really quite funny to watch.
It's even funnier to watch people twist themselves around spewing hatred and bile like she's gone out and murdered their puppies just because she likes to dress up and she's gotten some media attention...I don't get that. Why don't you sit back and munch on some caramel corn and cotton candy and figure out some perspective? Mainly the perspective that it's all tongue-in-cheek? It works out better that way, when you realize all the fun costumes and odd gags are just another form of putting on a show for folks to gawk at. She's being dramatic...because that's what people who *perform* for a living do. Provide drama for others' amusement. The egg is totally gutsy. No one else has had the balls to pull off such a stunt. She does it for talk and attention, sure, - and that is part of the business. So, now, you're talking and paying attention to her(again). She wins! So, moving on, let the people that think it's fun and interesting - continue to do so, 'cause it is.
The egg itself ( and the song which the egg-stunt is linked too ) have a much much deeper meaning and I invite people to understand it before commenting so negatively. When you put the story and the stunt together - it's pretty stellar.
As for her vocal abilities - she's quite talented. Quite. I'm a Dj and at first I refused refused refused to play her because I thought she was flash in the pan too - but my eyes are open and have been. She's out to have fun and make fun happen AND she can REALLY sing - which is very unlike many of the sugar pop vocalists out there including the ones she's being compared against.

I love when people have negative comments about Lady Gaga's "stunts". If people took the time they'd know she's a very talented singer as well as classically trained on the piano. Also, she attempted to project her songs acoustically the way she originally wrote them and mainstream listeners(ourselves included) and labels didn't think they'd sell. She is the way she is because society made her have to do these things. Talent isn't enough these days and people, such as Lady Gaga, get looked over if they don't attempt to sell themselves in whatever manner they have to.
Although I'm not a Lady GaGa fan, I agree with you at least in principle. Your line of reasoning is a bit flawed though, given there are a lot of very talented artists out there who are surviving, and even thriving without having to resort to using a gimmick to sell albums. We all know how cutthroat and shallow music industry executives are and it's all about the greenbacks and nothing else, and the quickest way to make bank in the industry is old school shock and awe wrapped up in a shiny new package, a la GaGa, channeling the likes of Ziggy Stardust, Dale Bozzio, Madonna, et cetera. Then again, we have Bieber, who is no more than a modern day Lief Garret, a stereotypical teen idol selling out auditoriums with little more than pubescent appeal, sans the gimmick. GaGa can sing though, no argument there, and no doubt she has ample musical ability.

Good for her. As a friend of mine once argued: "You've got to have a gimmick." She's got a shtick which makes her money. The only way that happens is if she pleases her audience. She obviously does. Her talent may not be in music, or singing, but it's entertaining enough.
