After the past few weeks of competition - and an outstanding opening number involving the more than 50 dancers who made it to the finals - it all came down to two acts on Wednesday night's "Live to Dance" finale.
White Tree Fine Art, as beautiful as their dancing was, didn't quite have the appeal to win over voters. Instead, pint-sized dynamos Kendall Glover and D'Angelo and Amanda were left standing to receive the $500,000 prize, the most ever awarded on a dance reality show.
Before that though, host Andrew Gunsberg introduced some taped segments, repeat performances from the dancers (read: time-killers), awarded a Chrysler (from the nearby set of "Price is Right"?) to the "Chi-Town's Finest Breakers" family, and time and again went to the judges to comment on the dancers.
Every time, Paula Abdul got more and more teary-eyed, to the point where she had to make sure to refer to her notes while blubbering towards the end.
And what a finish it was – as much as I like Kendall Glover, as well as the other six finalists, it was clear to me that D'Angelo and Amanda deserved to win it all, and that's exactly what happened. The fact that these youngsters have the talent of dancers twice their age and bicker like an old married couple sealed the deal for them. Congratulations indeed to the ballroom-dancing pair!
Did you agree with the voters' decision? Would you like to see another season of this show (and if not, don't you agree that Travis Payne and Kimberly Wyatt would be excellent judges on another show)? Share your view on iReport or comment below.
