Mel Gibson's 'The Beaver' delayed until MayMel Gibson isn't ready for a big-screen comeback just yet — the release of his new movie, "The Beaver," has been delayed. The dramedy, which stars Gibson as a troubled man who tries to get his life back on track with the help of a beaver puppet, was set to hit theaters on March 23 but is now due out on May 6, with a wider release on May 20, reports Entertainment Weekly. Summit Entertainment switched the date to accommodate the schedule of Gibson's director/co-star Jodie Foster — who will be shooting the movie "God of Carnage" in the spring — and to provide alternatives to anticipated summer blockbusters like "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Thor." Prior to its major theatrical release, "The Beaver" will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 16.

This is SO PLANNED. This movie is AWFUL (I've seen it already) and the reason it's being moved is so it can "get buried" by REAL MOVIES....this way, the poor sales can be blamed on something OTHER THEN Mel's inability to act or make a come-back.

Mel is far from done. For starters, he is a fantastic director and a billionaire so he does not need to rely on acting roles. More importantly, Jodie Foster is immensely talented and I highly suspect that "The Beaver" will be quite good despite your misplaced ridicule and fatuously moronic statements to the contrary.

I would not see this film because it seems like a dumb idea for a story not because it has mel gibson in it. I hope he gets help and turns his life around. FYI, a number of my blogger friends and I have noticed that on specific nights and times our comments are being "filtered" for no good reason. He may be a moron as a person, and I will never support what he has done, but, he is one of the best actors of all time, period. He can do comedy, drama, action, you name it. He can get into any role and make it pop. I cant even tell you how many of his movies that I own because of the FACT that theyre GREAT movies.. Signs isnt great but I like the story. I hope he does have a comeback and returns to making award winning movies. I also hope he learns to keep his mouth shut and correct his ways. The thing was most likely blown out of proportion and we heard what the TV wanted us to hear. Im sure many people have said things exactly like what he said when they were enraged, it happens. I will go see this in the movie theatre and guarentee it will not be empty. mel Gibson is an incredible actor and regardless of his troubles in his personal life, he will give a wonderful performance that only Mel can give.
