Josh Duhamel won't take over for Regis PhilbinDid you hear that Josh Duhamel may be taking over for Regis Philbin on "Live With Regis and Kelly"? Well, don't believe it. The actor's rep is shooting down rumors that the former soap star is ditching movies and returning to daytime TV as Kelly Ripa's sidekick. The reports first surfaced last week, when "Entertainment Tonight" reporter Kevin Frazier told Duhamel's wife, Fergie, he had heard whispers of Duhamel possibly replacing Philbin when he leaves "Live With Regis and Kelly" in November.
"Wow! Do they have Vegas odds on that?" she replied. "Right now he is actually in New York filming 'New Year's Eve.'" Still playing coy, Fergie added, "You're going to have to ask him that question." But Duhamel's rep says it just isn't happening: "There is no truth to the story," says the spokesperson. Meanwhile, Philbin claims he hasn't heard who might take over his spot but thinks Duhamel would do well. "That's a good name," he says, adding, "Actors have careers that are pretty good to them — this is a daily thing every morning, so they've got to consider that before they get involved."
