The Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera and yes, a puppy bowl are all coming to you live on your TV this Sunday.
Oh yeah – there’ll be a football game on too.
But for those of you who perhaps aren’t as pumped to watch the Steelers face off against the Packers for Super Bowl XLV, there’s still plenty to keep you entertained.
Like, for example, this Volkswagen commercial featuring a mini-Darth Vader trying to use the Force against everything from a doll to the family dog.
Now that you’re done “aww-ing,” let’s talk live performances. First up is Lea Michele, who will be singing “America the Beautiful” during the pre-game festivities. That’ll be followed by Christina Aguilera tackling the National Anthem (any guesses on how long she'll hold the note on "brave"?)
Then the football players will, you know, play, and then we’ll get the B.E.P. performing during half-time. They've been mum about their set list, but the rumor is that they'll be joined by special guests Usher and Slash. (Either way, we've certainly come a long way from the halftimes of yore, when gigantic magic card tricks were de rigueur. Here's a flashback to 1989 and what very well may be the weirdest Super Bowl halftime show ever over at Popdust.com.)
It won’t end there, though – Eminem may not be taking the stage, but a claymation likeness of the Detroit rapper is expected to show up in a promo spot for Lipton Brisk Iced Tea. Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne has teamed up with wife Sharon and Justin Bieber for a Best Buy ad.
Following the game, of course, will be the return of "Glee" with a Michael Jackson "Thriller"-themed episode.
And if you happen to be in Dallas for the Super Bowl, you may be partying too hard to actually attend the game. There’s Playboy’s bash at the BudLight hotel on Friday with Snoop Dogg and Flo Rida, according to E! News. GQ’s soiree at Hickory Street Annex is also on Friday, where Cee Lo Green will take the stage as Terrell Owens serves as DJ; Andy Roddick, Brooklyn Decker, Owen Wilson and Adrian Grenier are expected to be on hand to mix and mingle.
On Saturday, there’s the Celebrity Beach Bowl, where your favorite celebs will go up against star athletes. Matthew Morrison and A-Rod are serving as assistant coaches while Josh Duhamel, Chace Crawford, Kellan Lutz, "True Blood's" Joe Manganiello and “Glee’s” Chord Overstreet will take part in the flag football game.
You can catch the action live on DirecTV’s The 101 Network plus on all of Fox Sports Network's regional networks and affiliates. (If you feel the need to get up close and personal with the players - and really, who could blame you for trying with that lineup - the game will also be broadcast in 3-D on DirecTV’s n3D, according to Entertainment Weekly.)
The game will kick off with an hour-long pre-game show starting at 1:30 p.m. CT, with the post-game concert being played by Maroon 5.
