After fending off a female psychopath in the upcoming thriller "The Roommate," Minka Kelly's next role seems heaven sent: She's set to star as one of the sexy undercover crimefighters in ABC's "Charlie's Angels" reboot.
According to TVLine, the former "Friday Night Lights" star will play a neat-freak former Marine and weapons expert who is tentatively named Marisa. Besides Kelly, "Transformers" star Rachael Taylor is also close to sealing a deal to play Abby, who, like her corrupt Wall Street father, is a bit of a con artist herself.
Rounding out the cast are "General Hospital" star Annie Ilonzeh, who has already signed on as Kate, a former cop and the most serious of the Angels, and Robert Wagner as Charlie, the trio's heard-but-not-seen boss at the Charles Townsend Agency.
As Marquee previously reported, the original "Charlie's Angels" — which starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith — was set in Los Angeles, but the update will switch the action to Miami.
What do you think of the show's new cast?
Hi my family member! I wish to say that this post is amazing, nice written and come with almost all significant infos. I'd like to see more posts like this .
We're a gaggle of volunteers and opening a brand new scheme in our community. Your site provided us with helpful info to work on. You've performed an impressive task and our whole neighborhood can be grateful to you.
You really make it appear so easy along with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually one thing which I believe I might never understand. It kind of feels too complex and very large for me. I'm having a look forward on your next post, I will try to get the dangle of it!
The real trick for the producers will be to see how many plots they can come up with where the Angels are wearing as little as possible: "This week, the Angels go undercover as lingerie models....next week, they pose as internet call girls...season finale: they infiltrate a terrorist surfer cult..." Basically, that was the only reason teenage boys (like me) ever watched the original show.
Correction": For any show or screen writing". Need more coffee! LOL!
The any show or screen writing, there has to be chemistry along with synergy! This is what makes things pass or fail. Bashers and haters, is this how you vent your misery?
I loved the original "Charlie's Angels," as well as the new movies. I thought the movies did justice to the original series unlike the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie and the "Beverly Hillbillies" movie. I thought these two movies actually made fun of two great tv series that were very popular. And the "hawaii 5-0" remake I believe is even better than the original, so let's see if the writers can improve on something that was great. I believe the actresses they have lined are decent actresses. Don't forget that farrah fawcett was given show because of her then husband lee majors
I think Hawaii 50 is a great show! That and Blue Bloods. So i'm gonna give this a shot as well. If i like it i'll keep watching if not bye bye.
Don't really care about the show.... Probably won't watch it..what I really want to know is did Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter get married?
I'm not complaining, I'm talking about the state of the business. And who are you trying to bash me? What have you ever done? I'm betting on nothing but running you're mouth.
I'm actually a screenwriter in LA, and its not that there's no original ideas, its that the power brokers aren't buying anything new UNLESS you have a big name or two attached. Studios and networks are more into the bottom line (meaning "sure things" or name brands)then they are in to taking a chance. Its not all on them though, the audience tends to tune into stuff they've already seen, for example how many "real housewives" spinoffs are on TV? On the other hand a very well written/acted/directed new show like FX's "Terriers" gets only 13 eps. Its all backwards and upside down right now.
Sounds to me like you're one of the 100,000 or so aspiring writers here in town - not an actual working writer. Otherwise, you'd be spending more time writing and getting your material read than anonymously complaining about the current state of television here on cnn.com.
@Also a Writer- obviously you need to practice what you preach. Also, if that person wants to take 30 seconds out of their day to post a comment, they're allowed. If you think it takes them a major portion of their day to make a comment then something is wrong with you. They were browsing CNN just like you moron.
As long as it's smartly written and well-acted, there's no reason it shouldn't be good. Just stick to the original basic framework.
I love lamp.
You can't top the original angels so why even try?
Have we really run out of ideas? Can't we come up with something original? Its fine to want to remake something you loved but when it was such a big hit, your never going to come close with a remake. The Drew Barrymore movies did somewhat well but not with those who grew up with the original, it did well with younger fans, most whom have never seen (and probably never heard of) the original. I wish it luck but I don't see this ending well
Okay, Lena then what have YOU got? Come on, Hollywood can't come up with original enough ideas, so I'm judging by your whining that you have something brilliant to offer.
HEY JOHN obviously Lena has better things to do than hang around a blog like a creepy weirdo saying the same crap OVER and OVER again. WHAT DO YOU GOT, WHAT DO YOU GOT, blah blah. Not everyone is freakin Tolstoy man, and last time I checked you don't have to be a writer to have an opinion so play nice and gtfo. Stop being such a bishcake, slow your roll meng.
Well people dont judge a book by its cover. every individual has her/his own talent. give others a chance. be nice.
What now, Shazam?
What next? Shazam?
Robert Wagner is A-list casting as "Charlie". Long live Alexander Munday!
Original thoughts are few and far between in Hollylwood. Remake a remake that has already been remade. Sheesh...
Same lame complaint so many far-removed midwestern dolts use. How about this: why don't YOU come up with something original, sell it to Hollywood, and get rich and busy? That way you'll have far less time to go online and anonymously complain about the work and effort of others.
@John- You said "Same lame complaint so many far-removed midwestern dolts use."
Apparently, you've never been to the midwest. GUESS WHAT? We has the internets just like the rest of yall FOLKS HYUCK. *smack* don't be a r-tard and say stupid stuff like that. I'm from the midwest and I happen to enjoy quite a few remakes. I don't think they "tarnish" the original, they are two seperate works with usually two different visions.
And yeah, they are recycling alot lately, it's a fact dude. SURE no one needed to point out the obvious but people in general are morons man, you gotta learn to let stuff go. Seems like you're getting WAY to stressed out over this blog. 0.o
@John- dude, you be creepin and its kinda freakin me out. I like how you only go after certain commenters. Last time I checked their allowed to have an opinion that's different than yours... or have you spent too long as Westboro Church lately bro?
Let's hope this reboot takes off!!
I rather liked the Charlie's Angels movie Drew did. It was fantastic popcorn fun! The second one was not as good. I'm not sure if a remake of the series will work. But then no one thought Hawaii 5-0 would either. We'll just have to judge after we see it.
hope the reboot is better written than the Drew Barrymore reboot (this coming from a fan of Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz)
Bionic Woman came and went.... so will this. On to the next one.
You must be either an extremely negative person or a powerful Hollywood insider; I'm betting the former.
PLEASE stop trying to remake shows that were so beloved. You can NEVER, EVER make these shows as good as the original.
