David Brent meets Michael Scott on 'The Office'

Remember when we talked about Ricky Gervais landing a cameo on "The Office"?

Well, that moment arrived last night as David Brent — Gervais' character in the original, U.K. edition of "The Office" — appeared alongside Steve Carell's Michael Scott.

In the episode, Brent is seen exiting an elevator and bumping into Scott. "Sorry, mate," he tells Scott, who then mimics Brent's English accent.

An amused Brent asks if Scott is making fun of him, and Scott replies, "I'm not picking on you at all. You're English, correct? I'm working on an English character. Would you mind — it's called Reginald Poofta."

The men laugh and Brent informs Scott that he also does impressions, and proceeds to do a politically incorrect impersonation of a Chinese man, with Scott joining in. Brent explained, "Comedy is where the mind goes to tickle itself," before starting another round of guffaws with, "that's what she said."

Wrapping things up with a hug, they begin to go their separate ways when Brent suddenly asks, "Where are you working?" Scott tells Brent he's employed at Dunder Mifflin, and Brent asks if there are any job openings.

"No," says Scott. "Not right now." (Scott's portrayer Carell, of course, is exiting the show this season.)

"Just let me know," says Brent.

What did you think of Gervais' cameo?

Gervais' cameo was funny! But, I read somewhere that Will Farrell will be coming on the show... I think they've definitely jumped the shark with that one :(

Let's just hope Will brings more originality to the show than you did in your trite and unimaginative comment.

Theres NO WAY David Brent will replace Micheal Scott. Gervais will never do it (the man's busy) and creatively it would be a bad idea. As we saw in this awesome clip, they're too much a like, making it uninteresting for them to do so in this version of the show. IMO.

They're too much alike? Are you blind (and deaf)? The only thing they share is their hysterically sad desire to be loved by everyone. That love equals respect. Their humor and delivery is completely different.

u do know that Ricky gervais aka David brent was on the original office and after it was over the American version came out witch made Steve carrell aka Michael Scott's character and exact copy of the original and that's what the irony of that clip. It was not intended for Brent to replace Scott , it was just for laughs

David Brent will replace Michael Scott at the end of the season. Thus, rejuvenating The Office popularity and making for a fantastic season of hilarity.

Gervais HAS to replace Steve Carrell, he just HAS to....it would be epic. I really hope this is what happens when Carell leaves, it would be just too perfect for David Brent to be the new manager. OMG
