'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Who will replace Regis? There’s major speculation today about who will replace Regis Philbin as co-host of “Live! with Regis and Kelly.” Regis announced Tuesday that this would be his last year on the show, after 28 years! And there’s a lot of big buzz today that “American Idol’s” Ryan Seacrest might take Reege’s spot. So I want to know – do YOU think Ryan is the right choice? If not, who do you think should replace Regis? Other big stories on "Showbiz Tonight"… Howard Stern calls Jay Leno a “crook," and Charlie Sheen was slammed by his own show, “Two and a Half Men.” Plus, Kara DioGuardi says she wasn’t fired from “American Idol"....do you believe her? See you live at 5 p.m. ET and again at 11 p.m. ET/PT, only on HLN. Watch Showbiz Tonight Weekdays Exclusively at 11PM ET on HLN. |

I think Anderson Cooper or Neil Patrick Harris have the best chemistry with Kelly!! Especially, Anderson Cooper, he is so qualified and has all the criteria and charisma to do this job!!! I bet if you asked Kelly herself she would say Anderson Cooper. She is crazy about him. He has class, the qualifications and is absolutely a perfect fit for the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ANDERSON COOPER!!!! Hands down the perfect person to fill the spot when Regis leaves..... best chemistry with Kelly every time he co-hosted. Check out the Facebook page created about him to hopefully take the spot
Anderson Cooper to join the 'Live' show Facebook page--> http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_183899941650793
You all are too hard on Kelly-
Anyway, it is very sad news that Regis is retiring; just like when Johnny did. This is a class of TV hosts/personalities that has become a thing of the past...really there's only David Letterman left and he's really more contemporary than them. We ALL know someone who's like Reeg... self deprecating, jokingly puts himself on a pedistal ("I SAVED the network!"), and truly forgets things and mispronounces peoples' names and whatnot. He's just a real guy -
Who to replace him? Who knows? No pretty boy like Jeff Probst, Mark Consuelos would be too cheesy, as he is already her husband.... I think the Mike Rowe suggestion is pretty good. Just not someone who likes the camera; someone with an everyday masculinity and natural approach that viewers can embrace.
Still, Regis' last day on the show will bring tears to millions.
Kelly Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, would be a great replacement for Regis. He has co-hosted before and they are great together. It might be too much togetherness for one couple but they are funny and play off of one another in a wonderful way.
Simon Cowell would be great, but won't do it. How about: Vince Vaughn???? Maybe Jerry O'Connell or Aston Kutcher.
I think Regis should stay!!!
it's time to get some one who has a younger, upbeat tone-the show needs someone who enjoys comic sparring with Kelly.
It wouldn't hurt ratings -if he was a hunk with a sense of humor....
and it sucked
my post got cut..(or I messed up) I meant I was home awhile ago and watched for a few minutes.
Can we agree that the show can go away now? I was home sick awhile minutes. Annoying!
who can replace Regis? Someone with a stomach for Kelly. Yuck... I'd rather be deaf and have my eyes gouged out.
Glen beck,Sean Hannity, maybe Bill O,they are all perfect, funny charming and an understanding of amarica
That's a joke- right?
thats easy.Adam Lambert.you can find sleeping him sleeping in some alley
I know he's already got a gig but Anderson Cooper would be amazing! Him and Kelly have such great chemistry!
he has a new talk show coming out this year- a nightly show on CNN and is also a contributer for 60 minutes-where would
he have the time? But he does seem to enjoy showing he has a lighter side....
God, who can stand Kelly?!
How about Bob Costas, or Brett Michaels, or Darius Rucker, or Alan Alda?
i wish it would be tommy chong. that sure would make for a good show.
I think it will be Jeff Probst.
Mark Consuelos to replace Regis. Please don't pick Jeff Probst
I also thought Mark would be great...he seems to enjoy himself and there in a comfort level there. Also, Doogie Housier
who has opened for many award shows would be brilliant -he's on at night on "How I Met Your Mother"-he's quick witted
and seems to complement Kelly really well.
Ryan Seacrest should NOT replace Regis Philbin on "Live"!!! Ryan has ENOUGH jobs already!! He's annoying!! Like GO AWAY!!!! I think Anderson Cooper would be great! I also think Simon Cowell would have been great as well if he wasn't doing "X Factor"! "LIVE" needs that bright personality like Kelly Ripa. Someone to complement her. Ryan Seacrest is just TOO MUCH!! He's OVEREMPLOYED!!!! My vote goes for Anderson Cooper or Simon Cowell!!!
We are, indeed, enjoying great times! Oprah Winfrey announced leaving her television show. Larry King, ditto. Now, Regis Philbin declares is pending departure from his program. Clearly, these are 3 of the most annoying "celebrities" in existence.
Now, if we can just get rid of Barbara Walters, there'll be even greater cause for celebration.
"And I think to myself, what a wonderful world!"
Abe Vigoda!
Just shut down the show. It's unwatchable anyway.
I know Gelman will pick a bozo host that will bring down LIVE. He always picks a moron jerk from one bad show or another.I would go for Mike Rowe,( If he were not working for Discovery,) He is a good interviewer, naturally funny, can do those stunts that Regis did and is a hot chick magnet. Gelman could retire along with Regis and get Mikes producer/director in. Their a team and LIVE needs new blood.
Hopefully, someone just as old and funny in a 1930s kind of way...
If the show is going to survive-it needs new blood.. Someone younger- who's hot- that's what will boost ratings.
There are a number of guest hosts that have filled in -that seem to give the show new energy. We've already seen
that older wise crack with Regis...make the show fresh-someone who's funny and good looking.-that's what the viewers want.
