Alicia Silverstone is expecting

Perhaps someone should consider throwing one massive baby shower: Alicia Silverstone and husband Christopher Jarecki are expecting their first child, CNN has confirmed.

Silverstone and Jarecki, 40, were married in June 2005 in Lake Tahoe following an eight-year courtship, and this is a moment Silverstone has been waiting for.

The "Clueless" star, 34, recently told People magazine that she couldn't "wait to be pregnant," adding, "I'm destined to be a mother."

Up next for the actress and author - who penned the vegan cookbook "The Kind Life" - are the films "Vamps," "Butter" and "Ass Backwards."

Silverstone joins the list of stars who in recent weeks announced they are expecting, which includes Selma Blair, Natalie Portman and Tia Mowry.

    After seeing her in The Crush, Marty Callner decided Silverstone would be perfect for a role in a music video he was directing for the band Aerosmith, called "Cryin'"; she was subsequently cast in two more videos, "Amazing" and "Crazy." These were hugely successful for both the band and Silverstone, making her a household name (and also gaining her the nickname, "the Aerosmith chick").[10] After seeing Silverstone in the three videos, filmmaker Amy Heckerling decided to cast her in Clueless.^
