I was overjoyed to see that all of my favorites from the premiere of "Live to Dance" made it through to the semi-finals on Wednesday night's episode.
The only thing left to do was to give the judges (and yes, you, America) the opportunity to award the last two slots via a (entirely necessary, I'm sure) dance-off.
I don't know why Kendall Glover wasn't sent straight through, but Paula Abdul interrupting her school's assembly to let her know that she had to do a call-back - without actually telling her it meant that she hadn't quite made it to the next level - was a moment worth watching.
When she took the stage again, it was clear that she would be the judges' choice, and so she was.
As for the other three, I liked Inside the Box on Tuesday, but I wasn't overly impressed with them this time. I liked Theatrix more than I remembered (which wasn't much), though I agree with the official-toughest-judge Travis Payne that they made a few missteps.
No, the act that deserves America's vote is White Tree Fine Art. For one thing, it would be really cool to see a ballet couple in the competition, and not another dance crew. For another – did you see Nikki White dance? Some of those moves were unbelievable.
Of course, it's all up to the voters, and a ballet act may be too boring for some. Then again, the two crews might cancel each other out.
I guess we'll find out next week!
What do you think of the show so far, and who gets your vote? Which act is your favorite right now? And were you as tired as I was of seeing Travis bob his head to the music during the dance-off? Share your view on iReport, or in the comments.
"Being a professional dancer is 1 step above being a professional juggler. Nobody knows who you are, you usually have to have a "real" full time job, and unless you are the best you aren't getting paid jack... and you know this show won't find the best dancers, because the best dancers are already working." -Howard Stern
With regard to the comment on the air about Paula being too showcased - it's her show. Simon Cowell produced American Idol and his opinions were given more weight - you either love him or hate him. Paula is no different; except she's a lot more sensitive. So let's give her a break. :-)
