Remember when the only choices were Dick Clark or going out?
These days there are lots of options to choose from to ring in the new year. If you aren't fortunate enough to be able to be able to party with the celebs this year, we have a few thoughts on what you can watch as you count down to 2011.
Of course we would be remiss if we didn't kick off the list with CNN's own Anderson Cooper who will be bidding 2010 a fond farewell along with Kathy Griffin as the pair host the network's New Year's Eve coverage live from Times Square. That kicks off at 8 p.m. EST.
If you are lucky (or hearty) enough to make it to Times Square in New York City, you just might score a shot to meet a Grammy nominee and a legend.
Two lucky people in the crowd will receive tickets to the exclusive, invitation-only Renaissance Hotels “Best Seat in the House” New Year’s Eve party. The event will feature DJ Rev Run, a live performance by Bruno Mars, a meet and greet with Mars and a front and center indoor view of the legendary ball drop.
One person who won't be at the Times Square ball drop is "Jersey Shore" star Snooki, but you can still catch her and the gang live from New Jersey where they will be participating in "MTV's New Year's Eve Bash 2011" which starts at 10:30 p.m. EST. We are going to out on a limb here and say we think there will be lots of alcohol on hand for that one.
The Dick Clark special is still around though it's now called "Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve with Ryan Seacrest." The show, whose coverage will switch back and forth between the two coasts, airs on ABC and starts at 10 p.m. EST.
And if you are all New Years Eve-ed out, a couple of networks will feature marathons including "Mr. Show" on IFC and Marx Brothers movies on TCM.
