Alanis Morissette welcomes a son

It was a very merry Christmas for Alanis Morissette - the singer gave birth to a baby boy.

A spokesperson for Morissette tells CNN that the rocker and husband Mario "Souleye" Treadway welcomed son Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway on December 25.

"All are healthy and happy," says the rep.

Morissette and Treadway, who wed in May, announced in August that they were going to become parents. "I am pregnant!" the 36-year-old Canadian revealed to Us magazine in its "25 Things You Don't Know About Me" column, later tweeting, "yes, happy news....I'm pregnant. we're so excited to start our family.... xo."

Though Morissette had been hush-hush about her due date, she did confirm to CNN in November that she was expecting a boy.

Alanis Morissette a Canadian???? Not any more. She's a proud American. I'd bet her baby was born in the USA. So forget all that Canadian stuff.

"You Oughtta Know" notwithstanding (though it really rocks, guys), Alanis has shown a remarkable fondness for the complexities of men and relationships, especially on her lesser-known but more nuanced albums, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and Flavors of Entanglement. Dogma was great. Check out her covers of Seal's "Crazy" and The Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps." And her work on Weeds has been surprisingly poignant. As a big Alanis fan, I wish her and her family all the best.

Isn't it ironic that the woman who portrayed God in the movie "Dogma" would give birth to a son on Christmas Day?

Alanis is one of the most talented rock singers there is & has a positive message that most people can relate to. i don't think she ever hated men but from listening to her music you can tell she has had her problems with guys. i'm glad she found a man she can have a family with.
