The new "Spider-Man" movie reboot is in full swing and no one is more excited than its star, Andrew Garfield – especially now that he's finally slipped on the superhero's signature skintight suit.
"I feel like a kid in my pajamas," Garfield, who began shooting two weeks ago, says in an interview with the UK's The Guardian. "I can only say how it feels and it feels pretty special. It feels like a dream realized and a fantasy realized. I don't take it lightly and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to wear spandex for the next few months."
The 27-year-old British actor, who also appears in "The Social Network," has been working out to play Spidey but doesn't overdo it.
"I think Spider-Man needs strength, but Peter Parker is still a teenager, you know? That's a very tender balance to figure out. It's very specific what we're trying to achieve in terms of body type and the feeling of that," he explains.
"Rest assured, there's a lot of people who are helping me with it because I have no discipline in that respect," Garfield admits. "My father's a swimming coach and I kind of rebelled against that very, very early on so any form of physical discipline has to be really cracked with a really smart whip."
I agree with what someone said earlier that even though Tobey McGuire was good as the nerdy aspect of Peter Parker, he didn't really have the wisecracking Spiderman aspect of the character down. I mean, Spidey probably talks the most smack of any superhero out there except maybe Deadpool.
This so called reboot is a direct result of the success of "Tweenie" movies like "Twilight" and its sequels. Why trade in Tobe McGuire and company? G-R-E-E-D. Todays Hollywood guru's see dollar signs and pimp out the system by hiring pre pubescent looking actors to "reboot" an already successful franchise to reap higher profits and its sad.So when young Mr.Garfield starts shaving daily he's history,he'll be replaced, possibly by a toddler in a Spiderman jumper with suction cups and a pacifier!!!
Yeah i`d probably go and see this spiderman to,like the other ones,i really like the spiderman in the comics when i was a kid in the 70s,i`d love to see them make marvels tomb of Dracula & Dr. strange both of these 70s comic charachters that i lked alot to!
Might see it not sure!
this movie is NOT A REMAKE clearly. i think this is a great idea and andrew garfield is a very good, grounded actor who is greatful for his amazing oppurtunity. a reboot would be nice for the generation who didnt grow up watching the franchise and the fact that he looks young is a good thing since he is playing a TEENAGE Spider Man.
I'm not opposed to a remake at this point, fact is Sony is losing the rights to the franchise to Disney at some point, so they've got to make their money now or never. I liked Spidey 2, the 1st was just average and the 3rd was terrible. As for the cast, Tobey did ok as nerdy, shy Peter Parker, but where was the humor of being Spider Man? He also cried WAY too much (although that's more of a script problem). I can live without Kirsten Dunst as MJ though, was never a fan of her portrayal
I think that even tho it maybe old no movie and I mean no movie should be re-made its just nonsense it really makes me mad. Like the movie Alice In Wonderland I liked the real one way better the new one. Its supposed to be a kid movie yet its based on drugs!! That's like telling kids okay go out and do drugs its fun!!! Its just ridiculous.! And I'm only 13.
Great comment, these people should really listen to you. Thank you for the comment.
Actually, the original Alice in Wonderland was based on a book by an English man who wanted to insult his government. Pretty much the whole book is an extended analogy. Both movies are just the director/screenwriter's interpretation.
Oh yeah, btw, you might wanna work on your punctuation skills. Usually exclamation points don't come after periods. :-l
Ridiculous. The Spiderman franchise was going along with a great cast and a rebooted franchise doesn't interest me at all. Couldn't wait to see all three. Have no desire to see this one, and won't. And if the buzz among friends and non-friends is any indication, they aren't either. The reboot....file it under "big mistake".
I'm not sure if I like the idea of them rebooting this franchise either, but given how absolutely horrible Spider Man 3 was, I'm not really opposed to them giving this a second try. This guy was good in Social Network, still, I can see him fouling this up pretty easily.
Lucky? U are crazy but u r blessed to got the part! Good luck!
This guy looks like a total tool. Why are they remaking a movie that is not even 10 years old? Hey! Why not remake Iron-Man?
WHY ARE THEY RUINING THE SPIDERMAN FRANCHISE....THIS GUY LOOKS 12! i STILL SMELL BABY FOOD ON HIS BREATH!
SO I HOPE THIS GOES BETTER THAN SPIDERMAN TURN OFF THE LIGHT THAT BROADWAY SHOW IS DOING BAD THEY ARE TRYIN TO KILL THE CAST
