Pierce Morgan is going to be a disappointment right from the start... his own blog on CNN TV adverts speaks of controversy...who needs this? Larry King was the perfect host and did something only he and Barbara Walters know how to..Listen Listen Listen..I've seen this man on British TV and he's a bore and sarcastic smart alec and pushy ..he's nothing special and not up to the standards we are used to by Larry King's standards of broadcasting and interviewing. It was always informative and relaxing as Larry just let his guests be as he interviewed them...he did just that interview not cross examine or bully or act rude...Pierce Morgan surprises me that he even wants to live and work here from his unpleasant remarks in the UK about America & Americans...he's only ever been kind and thoughtful to the singer Susan Boyle when she was going through a rough time publicly..so he does have some kindness in him..I think if he used this attribute whilst working in the USA he may fare best...We are constantly badgered on the TV with talk talk talk and reminders of the Best this and that blah blah on the news programmes on CNN (which are the most bearable) but it has always been a relaxing part of the day to Listen to Larry king and his guest without noise and banter..almost peaceful and always informative..why not a person like Larry King..Anderson Cooper has the gift and there are some others who could've done the job...I may be wrong but I think this is a big expensive goof! Good luck Pierce Morgan..I'll give ya a try and hope I'm wrong but something tells me it'll be really a wasted hour before AC360 comes on..Merry Christmas to all thereat CNN missing you very much Mr. King!!
When I tune to cnn I am constantly seeing ads for piers or the bottom of my screen is covered with this ad. We get it. Stop the promos.
I can't wait to see Piers Morgan. He is more than meets the eye. Mr. Morgan has interviewed many political figures in the UK and is smart. Piers is obviously has more to offer than the judge we love to hate on AGT. The British were very nice to me during my stay in London over the summer. Piers, I look forward to watching your program.
I dont think anyone will be watching Pier's show because American Idol will be idol during those night and we all know how fanatic we are about AI. Good Luck Pier's with your attempt to making things dangerous. You probably will struggle out trying to hold on to your ratings. AI Ahoy!
Might be rich and well off and also Simon's friend, both being arrogant putting people down all the time. It iw why he was fired from Trump's show, "got fired he did". Won't watch it more than the first half hour.
I don't understand the selection of Piers Morgan unless they are going to revamp the show for light-hearted, meaningless chat. As for those citing his career as a journalist/editor: he worked for TABLOID papers. Seriously, this is the kind of person that CNN wanted? But then again, CNN seems to be turning into the entertainment channel lately.
Piers is a fantastic choice for host ... he's direct, engaging and people love to hate him. This is the recipe for success!!! I can't wait to watch his show – congratulations Piers!!
He hasn't even started & he already trashes an American icon, Madonna. Like her or not, she has made her mark on the world and has the respect of her peers. Larry King is a gentleman and never trashed anyone. He has class. It's clear that his successor does not. A big NO WAY will I watch this arrogant SOB.
Hey Bonnie ... your "icon" Madonna was hated plenty throughout her career, ie: for burning a cross in her Like a Prayer video, was dropped by Pepsi, for her book that was so repulsive it was sold in a mylar wrapping, for her arrogance in saying at the beginning of her career that she would be bigger than the Beatles, for her arrest in Toronto for public indecency, for her videos being banned from MTV, for having children out of wedlock, for sleeping with her first producer to get her album cut, etc. She's had plenty of controversy on her way to becoming an icon, and she and Piers are both the same. They say outrageous things that push people's buttons and get paid millions for doing so. The knife cuts both ways honey ... you either love them both or hate them both because they do the same thing. Might want to reconsider your choice of icons, lulu.

Piers is a meany. I absolutely will not watch this show. And...I don't understand why they have to hire a Brit. Geesus!! Are there not enough Americans to host these types of shows. The Brits speak like high brows, and many of them are repugnant like Piers.
Well...CNN won't be jacking up their ratings with Piers. They will surely give him a chance, but when he can't get the poll numbers up, he will be history. I don't watch CNN as much as before. They have a number of hosts that just don't cut it.
What I can't get over is how many people take time out of their lives to vent their anger and opinion over CNN's selection of Piers Morgan. Is 1 hour of tv this important to you? Get a life, losers.
What is going on at CNN? It was bad enough losing the 8 – 9 slot when they drug out Parker and Spitzer to replace the wonderful Rick Sanchez. I saw Christiana Amanapour on ABC this morning and Erica Hill is on the CBS Early Show! Network suits should wake up and smell the coffee. I can't believe that CNN couldn't have found someone else to take the stable 9 – 10 slot.
Piers Morgan is nothing but a tabloid demon. He has no respect for the dignity of others and sees people as product. He is completely amoral – as long as he makes money, it's ok in his book. The idea of him taking over Larry's slot, someone who showed respect towards all his guests, is disgusting. What a complete turn. Another drop in the quality of programming, CNN, this is beneath you. He** will freeze over before I watch this dehumanizing 'person'.
I bet he is canceled by June. CNN is bleeding viewers and this nimrod ain't gonna help things. Larry King survived on inertia, but I don't believe most Americans are going to warm to a British fop expressing his disdain for most of the world. The choice of Howard Stern as a guest is perfect, it is another step in CNN's efforts to out Fox, Fox News in a rush for the lowest common denominator. It is scary, but lately I find Fox more objective than CNN, YIKES!
you haters are in for a huge treat! on the docket as guest during the first week of shows...none other than the greatest interviewer of all time – HOWARD STERN! now all the crybabies will write they are refusing to watch.
Howard Stern is completely free to say what he likes. And I am free to completely ignore him as I have done for many years now. And yes, I would never waste an hour of precious life watching someone like Piers Morgan. Cynicism and insults are neither intelligent nor humorous. Stern's popularity speaks only of the low standards of the American public and Morgan of a further decline – worthless programs.

Agreed. No offense to Larry, but he stayed WAAAY past his expiry date. I get that hitting the 25 year mark is more memorable than leaving at the, ie: 18 or 22 year mark, but he overstayed his welcome. Most celebrities don't know when to say goodbye ... they were good at one time, and the audience stays out of loyalty, not because the show continued to be good (ie: Seinfeld went on too long, so did M*A*S*H, so did Oprah, so did Larry). So, goodbye Larry and all the best, but it really was time for you to go. Looking forward to Piers' fresh new style!!!!!
The promo "I want to make my show exciting and a little dangerous" is enough to make me steer clear of this show – what a bunch of cliche crap...

This isn't about whether or not anyone "likes" him. The media world is all about whether you can garner attention, and Piers can. He's in this for fun, as he's already a multi-millionaire. Love him or hate him, he got the job and he's paid plenty for it. He doesn't care about your opinion of him, people – he's smugly smiling all the way to the bank. Gotta admire him for that.

Wow, am I the only person who actually likes Morgan? He's caustic, yes; he's blunt/direct, yes. I think he'll do fine. Larry was years past retirement, frankly, and watching him interview people without even listening to their response (and half the time not even letting them answer fully before charging ahead with another totally unrelated question) was painful at best.

I'll agree with many others, this is a strange choice. Piers Morgan is really boring, and a C or D lister. You need someone with more Popularity and Charisma to get the interesting guest on the show.
Guess what? No one knew who Larry King was 25 years ago, either. He was considered a loser and joke with his dorky suspenders and bland style. But when given a chance, he proved himself. Give Mr. Morgan the same courtesy ... let's see how he does, and then you can decide whether or not you think he's a good interviewer. I, for one, think he's a great choice and can't wait to tune into his show!
Really strange choice. Piers Morgan has always come across as caustic and insensitive. If he keeps this up, he'll just alienate the interviewees AND the viewers. If he switches to nice mode, it'll be a case of copping out. Unless he does something spectacular, I probably won't tune in regularly.
So does Simon Cowell ... and he brought in huge ratings and huge money for years. So will Piers.

Very difficult to replace Mr. King. I hope someone agrees..I think Dick Cavett would be great. I dont know if he would like to do the show...but a couple of years would have been nice .From what im reading, you really messed up CNN bringing in this new guy.

Frankly, the cloest thing to a Larry King-like interviewer already doing this who is thoughtful, insightful, intelect, educated and probing without being distractful Charlie Rose (and ANderson Cooper but I think he already has a job). He has great conversations and knows how to dig and be disarming a la Larry and impartial. Piers Morgan won't last a month. Would love to see a Charlie Rose, a good artful interviewer, who is very well read.
The exec at CNN should be canned for allowing Piers Morgan to replace Larry King. Doesn't the public (aren't we the ones who pay your salary, purchase products that support your station?????) count? Since we're the ones who watch this broadcast, WE should have been the ones who should have picked Mr. King's succesor.

Putting Brits on the air or in a commercial is a marketing stratigy. It’s believed that the accent makes them appear smart when they pitch a product to the American consumer so you may me more inclined to buy it. Yep those smart Brits did a wonderful job pitching the UK to the Muslims and progressives.

Kind of like "don't judge a book by its cover"; however, in his case, he showed his true colors when he was a judge on America's Got Talent....he was not funny but made a lot of derogatory remarks which I'm sure cut the person deeply he was addressing. However, the Hoss did the same thing. I, too, feel there are other more worthy and more appropriate candidates than Piers for Larry's replacement. King had integrity and a huge following, this guy isn't even going to come close to what he was. You have to earn respect and I don't think Piers cares one way or the other what people think about him. It's the network's choice and they will have to live with it until one day, he crosses the line and gets sued for a remark or his obnoxiousness.

I really don't understand why they picked Piers Morgan to replace Larry King! I saw Piers on the Apprentice a few years ago and he was awful.....he was really a mean person on that show. I hope he's become a little nicer since then.
