[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers on who won this season of "Amazing Race" plus info on who you may be able to see next season. Look out below!]
First of all, congratulations to Nat and Kat for a race well run, not to mention making "Amazing Race" history as the first all-female team to win the $1 million prize in 17 seasons.
However, if you were like me, you started pulling for Brook and Claire (of watermelon-to-the-face fame) to win it all the last couple of weeks. I don't know what it is - perhaps the Brook-and-Claire-flair hypnotized me - but I had my fingers crossed that they would win.
Luckily, for fans like myself, the Home Shopping Network pair will get a second shot at winning the race next season as part of "Unfinished Business," a second "all-star" season that will allow contestants who made various mistakes on the race to redeem themselves. Update, 4:57 p.m.: Don't believe everything you see on CBS promos. As an eagle-eyed commenter noted, Brook and Claire were on 'The Early Show" this morning and evidently, Claire's pregnancy prevented them from taking part in the next season. So consider this list of former racers only as potential competitors in the next season.
From what I can gather from the promo which ran after Sunday night's show, most, if not all of the teams involved had been told on the "pit stop" mat that they would have to go back and re-do something, or had to take a 30 minute penalty.
The teams shown in the promo include several from this past season, including fan favorites Connor and Jonathan (the a capella singers); father-and-kid teams Gary and Mallory and Michael and Kevin (my two favorites this season); engaged-on-the-race Chad and Stephanie; and Vicki and Nick - the latter who can be referred to as Quitty McQuitter.
Speaking of quitters, the next season should also have Harlem Globetrotters Flight Time and Big Easy, searching for redemption. Two more teams shown from their 15th season include Zev and Justin, and controversial poker players Maria and Tiffany, who had a breakdown while playing golf.
Yet it doesn't get too much more controversial than mother and son Margie and Luke, from season 14, who it appears will be joined by fellow racers/cheerleaders Jaime and Cara, as well as stunt men Mark and Michael, Amanda and Kris, and Kisha and Jen (who had a blow-up in their season with Luke, hence the controversy).
Best of all from that season, however, is screenwriter Mike White and his father, Mel, who are probably my favorite "Amazing Racers" of all time, and it looks like they'll be back.
Mother/son pair Toni and Dallas, who lost their passports and therefore the race, appear to be the sole representatives of season 13, and boy, do they need the redemption.
Last, but certainly not least, we have seasons 12 and 16, including two of the most memorable teams of the show's history. Along with season 12's father and daughter Ronald and Christina, it looks like goths Kynt and Vyxsin will return.
And, for season 16, cowboys Jet and Cord are back, which will delight fans who thought that they deserved to win the whole thing. They, too, made a mistake along the race and had to swim back for a bottle (remember that?). Other season 16 cast members teased in the promo include detectives Louie and Michael (baby!), plus Brent and former Miss South Carolina USA Caite, back to travel to more countries (such as the Iraq).
Are you looking forward to seeing these teams once again? To which team do you want to see Phil Keoghan say, "I'm sorry to tell you you've been eliminated from the race" first, and who would you like to see get the news "You are the winners of the Amazing Race"?
