Rapper Kurtis Blow caught with marijuana

Count Kurtis Blow as someone else who may not be too happy with the new airport security policies.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to CNN that the legendary rapper was caught with marijuana at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday after a security screening.

“Kurtis Blow Walker was cited by Los Angeles Airport Police at approximately 5:45 a.m. December 2, 2010 at Terminal 7 while undergoing TSA security screening,” said a statement released by police. “Walker was cited for violation of California Health and Safety Code 11357 (b), misdemeanor possession of less than 28.5 grams of marijuana and released.”

Well, like his hit song from the 1980s says, “these are the breaks.”

Kurtis Blow, you have brought shame to the pristine reputation of musicianship. I am sure you would have made Charlie Parker cry if he had lived to hear of this.

Seriously, the TSA sucks. So what is the score so far? Terrorists caught 0 pot busts 12,342,142,231,432,941,209,480 or something like that. Yeah, their protecting us from terrorists alright. I feel so much safer flying when I know they have kept rappers off the plane. Kurtis Blow can't fly and Willie Nelson can't ride a bus.

How about, pot is illegal because the vast majority of the U.S. populace (as evidenced by the vast majority of posts herein) are a bunch of whiney, lazy, busybody sheep who think a larger government is best to 'give' you more rights. As if government could give you rights. The U.S. is dead, and the Consitution is dead, and soon its remaining sheep populace will be living in poverty when the dollar collapses to Zero. I for one am really going to enjoy watching the lot of you whine and scream for the government to do something to 'help', because you will still think that larger, more intrusive government has anything but your demise on its collective mind. Hurray for the TRUTH, Hurray for real moraity as dictated by our creator. HUrray that the U.S. will soo reap the reward of damnation it has been begging for for so long.

I am just as guilty as the next person for feeding the "media" machine. This is news because the general public allows it to be news. Need to reprogram the reading/viewing generations and prevent future generations from being so heavily influenced by something far more damaging to the brain than weed......caring about the personal lifestyles of those that entertain us. As subtle as it is, big media is firmly entrenched in our minds and reflected in our lifestyles. On the same (toke) N , I respect anyone that can obtain financial security by using (hustling) the media to pad their bank account. Of course the ad revenue generated from the page views for this article is a winning situation for the publishers as well...........hmmm...general public how is your financial situation looking? Do not legalize marijuana... First, the drug alters your state of mind. Coming from a long term drug user, I have blurred vision when driving and it's not that fun at all. It might be fun to smoke it once in awhile but when it's a daily thing, you get really tired. I don't really have the chance to choose from the indica/sativa strains so I'm guessing i mostly get indica strains cause I get so dam tired after a toke session. And for all your marijuana smokers out there... next morning, look at your face, your left side of your face will droop lower than your right...

Ones that say rappers are not creative, close their mind off to music of now, whereas I am sure that during the 80's, 70's, 60's, and sure the 50's too, countless artists endulged on the green of the earth too. If he passes, no big deal, if he doesn't–instant headlines showing the vigilance of "our" airport security. The question comes up: why was Kurtis Blow subjected to search? Were they afraid he was smuggling a bomb in his underwear or shoes?

Weed does NOT need to be legalized, it only needs to be DECRIMINALIZED. 7-11 does not need to be able to carry RJR Nabisco's "Da Kine", NEW!! with 27% more THC!!! People who want it legalized are just the ones who cannot get it NOW. Decriminalize, not legalize.

Gee – – – what a shocker! Another lower form of life (rapper) being busted for dope! Why is this news? This "entertainer" met one of the 3 criteria for being a "successful rapper" – – – 1) doper and dope advocate, 2) treating women like garbage, and 3) advocating for the murder of police officers.

For the whiney, cry-babies who P&Ming about dope being legal, I suggest you become informed about the facts of putting illegal crap in your bodies. It gets to be very old when people rant on and on about marijuana being "safer" than alcohol. This, of course, is unadulterated nonsense.

There is a great deal of legitimate, unbiased information about the horrendous health and societal effects of dope – yes, including marijuana. Perhaps you could – if your brains are not already fried – avail yourselves of factual information. And, please don't rely on the "facts" of another doper. What do you think you'll hear from them – – – Duh!?!

Enough people smoke the stuff in this country that it's really kind of stupid to keep trying to prosecute. There's other things that are more important. Maybe, if we get to the point in this country where having a pot plant on your front porch is just commonplace and boring, then people that want to get stoned can go out ON their front porch, and not bother anyone else. It also won't be seen as a rebellious act or whatever. In some countries, people aren't this retarded. Why?

While none of this crap is good for you, and doctor will tell you the two most damaging abused drugs are tobacco and alcohol. ( having medical training, I would put crystal meth in the same group.). These same doctors will tell you pot is the least harmful.

Along with this right use drugs comes the responsibility of accepting the consequences of your choice. If you get into trouble with the drugs, do not come to me for help. This includes using my Medicare tax dollars for treating diseases induced by smoking tobacco and swilling alcohol.

After four decades of fueling the U.S. policy of a war on drugs with over a trillion tax dollars and 39 million arrests for nonviolent drug offenses, our confined population has quadrupled making building prisons the fastest growing industry in the United States. More than 2.2 million of our citizens are currently incarcerated and every year we arrest an additional 1.9 million more guaranteeing those prisons will be bursting at their seams. Every year we choose to continue this war will cost U.S. taxpayers another 69 billion dollars. Despite all the lives we have destroyed and all the money so ill spent, today illicit drugs are cheaper, more potent, and far easier to get than they were 40 years ago at the beginning of the war on drugs. Meanwhile, people continue dying in our streets while drug barons and terrorists continue to grow richer than ever before. We would suggest that this scenario must be the very definition of a failed public policy. This madness must cease!

The stated goals of current U.S.drug policy - reducing crime, drug addiction, and juvenile drug use - have not been achieved, even after four decades of a policy of "war on drugs". This policy, fueled by over a trillion of our tax dollars has had little or no effect on the levels of drug addiction among our fellow citizens, but has instead resulted in a tremendous increase in crime and in the numbers of Americans in our prisons and jails. With 4.6% of the world's population, America today has 22.5% of the worlds prisoners. But, after all that time, after all the destroyed lives and after all the wasted resources, prohibited drugs today are cheaper, stronger, and easier to get than they were thirty-five years ago at the beginning of the so-called "war on drugs".

"Rapper caught with pot" is a non-story the same way as "Willie Nelson caught with pot" is a non-story. The only thing that makes this slightly newsworthy is a) it's Curtis Blow – rap icon and b) he tried to get it through a TSA checkpoint.

Isn't the TSA supposed to be looking for things that can bring down an airplane? What did they think he was going to do, smoke up with the pilots and get them impaired?

This IDIOT carried an illegal substance into an airport, thinking he was above the law and couldn't get caught. He KNOWS its illegal to possess it and he KNOWS its illegal to try and bring it through airport security, where there is a possibility he will be searched and caught.

Do not criticize Mr. Blow for disregarding an unjust, unreasonable law. Millions of Americans do. You claim that the "smart" thing to do is to avoid getting caught, but that just perpetuates the injustice. Not getting caught is certainly my approach, and that of most, but that is only because I and most people do not have the resources to defend ourselves against the detainment, torture, and character assasination that the "authorities" engage in. I applaud Mr. Blow, and look to his type (i.e. rich and/or famous) to be the catalyst for change. Speaking of which, bravo Willie Nelson!! Please, all of you: Keep getting busted!

The only news stories I read anymore are ones that have to do with someone getting busted with weed, simply because commenters on the other ones are always preachy and faux-moralistic but you're guaranteed a refreshing burst of (albeit minor, still present) common sense here. Even cops and prison guards I've talked to are disgusted with the fact that folks who smoke something that's barely a narcotic are sent off to prison like rapists where they get toughened up and come out a worse person than they ever were high. Just legalize it already, it was only ever targeted because of hemp being a better alternative to trees for paper in the first place.

There is more money being spent in the united states to find and prosecute for marijauna than there is money being spent to find murderers, rapists, & theives all way more heinous crimes. Lets get serious America! Legalize POT! There are more people being arrested for pot in the US than for any other crime! I also agree to the fact that Marijuana should be legalized, but at the current time it's not. Also, it's not as if Kurtis was "hunted down" using federal or state fund. The jack ass walked through LAX, one of the largest travel hubs in the world, knowing full well about increased security and random searches, not to mention body scans, and willfully brought weed with him! He wanted to get caught! If he didn't he's really good at pretending like he did. He's Kurtis Blow, would it really be that hard for him to buy a quad wherever he's going? I doubt it.
