"It girl" rapper Nicki Minaj might have some unlikely competition from Anna Wintour: The Vogue editrix will spit a verse on Diddy's new CD, "Last Train to Paris."
But Wintour isn't the only fashionista getting in on the act. The album, set for release on December 14, also features the voices of designers Isaac Mizrahi, Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as Vogue editor and "America's Next Top Model" judge Andre Leon Talley.
"During Fashion Week last year, he sent out the call via e-mail and voice mail to high-fashion friends to come to his studio to participate in the record," Talley says of Diddy, whose CD was inspired by the music superstar's February 2010 fashion spread with supermodel Natalia Vodianova.
"This album is simply part of his evolution," says Talley, who recited words by author James Baldwin and describes the record – which peppers the voices of Wintour and crew between songs - as "totally twenty-first-century Diddy cool."
As for Wintour's contribution to the album: "This is Anna Wintour from Vogue magazine," she declares at the beginning of track No. 2, "1st Place Loser." "You are now listening to the 'Last Train to Paris.' "
