'Christmas Story' star turns classic into musicalThe star of the 1983 film classic "A Christmas Story" has an early present for fans - he's turned the beloved movie into a stage musical. Beginning today through December 30, "A Christmas Story: The Musical!" will run at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, re-telling the story of Ralphie Parker, a 9-year-old on a mission for a Red Ryder BB gun, and featuring an original score from Broadway composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Executive producer Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in the movie, tells the Hollywood Reporter, “'A Christmas Story' has always meant a lot to me personally. I’m excited to bring this film to the stage because the story and the characters lend themselves so well to the world of musicals.”
In fact, Billingsley, who is pals with Vince Vaughn and directed 2009's "Couples Retreat," says he hopes to bring the play to more theaters. "Just think about the idea of a leg-lamp kick line," he says. |

If you are ever in Cleveland, Ralphie's house is now a museum and tourist site. It's a gas to go through it and see the bunny suit under the tree and the Life Buoy soap in the bathroom! The most fun was when we bought our own Leg Lamps!
This is great, bring this paly to New Jersey and Philadelphia area, I will be there. My brother and I watch is movie all christmas day since we were kids and we still do as adults together. Without the christmas story it would be christmas for us. Great job.
Saw the play on the 28th. It was great. We watch "You'll shoot your eye out" 2 or 3 times every holiday season.
Wow! He's adorable! Best Xmas movie ever- "Deck the halls with bows of how-ry, Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra".
