Those hysterical fans at the November 15 "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" New York premiere probably didn't rattle "Glee" newcomer Darren Criss as he walked the red carpet – after all, just last year, he was one of them.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Criss appeared on the front of the magazine's July 16, 2009 issue for a story about the mania surrounding the release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."
The cover shot shows a shaggy-haired Criss wearing a Hogwarts school uniform and a pair of round spectacles as he stands alongside fellow frantic J.K. Rowling fans at the L.A. premiere.
"It's insanity," Criss told the Hollywood Reporter. "A year ago today, I was a guy in line waiting with my buddies outside the premiere. Now I was an invited guest.”
Criss, who plays Dalton Academy student Blaine on "Glee," is riding quite a wave of success lately. His rendition of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" recently became the first song from the hit TV series to reach No. 1 on the Billboard charts, and the actor will reportedly become a regular on the show, possibly as a love interest for Kurt (Chris Colfer).
"It’s all in their ballpark," Criss says of the show's producers. "We’ll see what they do with the character. I’m just happy to be there for now."

Absolutely loved Darren in AVPM, AVPS and Little White Lies! But it's hard to mention Darren without acknowledging Joey Richter, Lauren Lopez and Bonnie Gruesen ... all very talented.
Why no mention of Darren being Harry Freakin' Potter in A Very Potter Musical and A Very Potter Sequel?
Love darren criss. I know he's a fan of Harry Potter but I was also sad that this article didn't mention A Very Potter Musicial or Sequel because he "is" the musicial Harry Potter. Also I remeber some of the interview LIVE on MTV and he says it would be a dream for fangirls to have him and daniel radcliffe sing togehter. Fangirl nose bleeds..
so...: He's already outed himself from the closet as straight. If you read a few interviews about him he grew up in a heavily theater environment where most friends and colleagues were gay. To come out straight was as much a shock to them (and him) as I guess coming out gay would be in many environments.
I find it odd that this article didn't mention the fact that Darren also starred in "A Very Potter Musical" and "A Very Potter Sequal" (both stage productions) as Harry Potter!!
When's he coming out of the closet? Has nothing to do with HP, but then again you can take it as it is...
