It's the dark versus the light as the trailers for "Red Riding Hood" and "Green Lantern" make their debut.
"Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke is helming the big-screen adaptation of the classic fairy tale "Red Riding Hood," and, as the trailer reveals, the moody plot revolves around a young woman, a pale, brooding man, and - naturally - a wolf. Hmm… haven't we seen this before?
Amanda Seyfried, who plays the title character, tells MTV, "Catherine Hardwicke has just completely turned this story into something edgy and gothic and dark… Fans will be surprised by the tone of the film. Catherine just completely throws it into this dark world, and it's a little scarier than it was meant to be when it was written. We had this freedom to go far with it, so whatever preconceptions the audience has, they should throw it out the door."
Meanwhile, the trailer for "Green Lantern" shows Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds, who was just named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive) piloting a plane before encountering an alien who hands him the glowing Green Lantern ring.
It's not long before Jordan is seen in his signature emerald apparel, interacting with love interest Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) and battling the villainous Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard).
Both "Red Riding Hood" and "Green Lantern" are set for release in 2011.
