Lohan clan not happy with 'Glee's' LiLo jokes

Gwyneth Paltrow may have rocked it on this week's episode of "Glee," but there are a few people who aren't so happy with her performance - like the Lohans.

In between the singing and dancing, the show poked fun at Lindsay Lohan's stints in rehab. Paltrow's character Holly Holiday, who was subbing as a Spanish teacher, tried to teach the students how to say things like, "Lindsay Lohan is totally crazy, right?" and, "How many times has Lindsay been in rehab?"

In a statement from Dina Lohan's attorney on behalf of Dina and her children, the family says they were hurt by the jokes, adding, " we are sadly disappointed in the writers’ choice to have such a huge talent like Gwyneth Paltrow relay such hurtful words against a contemporary."

"Glee" and the show's network, Fox, declined to comment.

What do you think? Was "Glee" out of line with the LiLo jokes?

You know how you prevent people from talking about you being in and out of rehab? By not consuming so much in drugs and alcohol that it lands you in rehab. This is what people say behind her back, at least the Glee folks had courage enough to say it out loud.

Mother of Lindsay, look the problem in the face and stop thinking what others are saying and doing/ Read our post on Lindsay and if you do what you are suppose to, your daughter will come back stronger than ever and a super star.

Ummmm, Dina Lohan is deluded if she thinks that Lindsay is a contemporary of Gwyneth Paltrow. They are 14 years apart in age and Gwyneth has achieved stature, accolades, awards, earnings and credentials that Lindsay couldn't even dream of achieving.

    Contemporary? Let’s review:

Paltrow: Oscar winner for Shakespeare in Love, Golden Globe winner for Proof, great performances in Sylvia, Running with Scissors and Great Expectations. No personal issue of note.

Lohan: No awards, crappy performances in The Parent Trap, Herbier fully loaded, Georgia Rule. Barely descent performances in Mean Girls and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Numerous run ins with the law and rehab stays

Mauybe they have a different defination of Contemporary?

If LiLo doesn't want people to joke about her stupidy then perhaps she shouldn't be stupid. I think that its great because it shows kids that society will not tolerate such behavior. I know Dina won't be laughing because this shows how good she was as a parent.

Glee didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Guess what Ms. Lohan, we all make fun of your daughter at school. She is the wreck you can't help but watch and be glad you're not her. I really hope Lindsay can pull it together this time, but all celebrities are made fun of when they're in the news nonstop. And now we get to make fun of her nutcase mom too.

Perhaps the Lohans should be more concerned with their daughter's drinking, addictive personality and her obsession with bad publicity before they start worrying about her being the butt of jokes. Perhaps they should be more concerned with the fact that they raised such a hooligan child. Perhaps they should be more worried with a whole lot more important things than someone pointing out the obvious issues that immature twit has. Perhaps they ought to try to keep her and themselves out of the spotlight for once and focus on fixing their family. God knows the rest of us want them to go away!

Lindsay's parents are concernend NOW? They've been more interested in her bank account and their own celebrity than taking care of their child. Now she's a hot mess and they don't see the humor. Someone needs to do the same thing for Lindsay that Brittany Spears father did for her. Take everything out of her hands and anyone else's hands who clearly do not have her best interests at heart and give this child a chance to live to be 30. If Dina Lohan wants to rock Chanel handbags she needs to get a job that supports it.

    Definition:
Contemporary often refers to persons or their acts or achievements: Hemingway and Fitzgerald, though contemporary, shared few values.

Ok, that's like calling Mother Theresa and the local school nurse contemporaries. Quite a stretch, but I give much more kudos to school nurses than LL.

Really? This is what her family is upset about. Not the rampant drug and alcohol abuse, multiple arrests, mug shots, court appearences and stints in re-hab? Don't anyone dare poke fun at her, because her mother takes offense. I find her mother offensive on so many levels, and if I were Gwyneth Paltrow, I'd be more annoyed that someone thought I was Lindsay's contemporary. All this bad publicity and being made fun of is what is commonly known as the consenquences of her actions.

Lohan is *not* a "contemporary" of Paltrow. She had the potential to grow up to be a star, and she blew it. Poor choices with substances, and bad behavior on set (or off-set, when she chose not to show up on time) are what earned her this seemingly endless stream of teasing. I'm sure the Lohan clan is embarrassed to be targeted, but had they supported and guided this kid better, she wouldn't be in rehab for the Nth time, and people might remember her acting abilities instead of making countdown clocks for her next inevitable relapse. Glee probably went overboard with the Lindsey jokes and I imagine it hurt her feelings, but let's not pretend here: being made fun of on a silly tv show, which even its greatest fans know is silly anyway, is the least of her worries. I'd be more concerned with getting healthy, or getting another job someday. She has skills, despite her best efforts to destroy herself. If she really wants to be a contemporary of Ms. Paltrow, then someday she will be. But she needs to earn it.

Jeezus. Gwen's character is a person who doesn't take responsibility for her actions and often ends up hurting other people with her efforts to be popular and well-liked. Of course she is going to say offensive things.

That said, I don't think Lindsay and her family have diddly to stand on. Do you know how much money she makes every time she is photographed walking out of jail or rehab? Companies pay her huge sums of money to be photographed with their products. She's whoring out her addiction, or at least profiteering from it. I don't have much sympathy for the girl anymore. She doesn't seem much like she actually wants to get better.

I do not watch the show but I too feel making fun of someone's battle with addiction is wrong. I wonder how the writers of the show would feel if they (and their family members) were on the receiving end of these tastless jokes.
Instead of making these tastless comments, the writers should have pointed out that Lindsay is making tremendous progress in fighting her addictions and to wish her success for the future. I'm sure the writers would not have written these lines if one of their family members were battling an addiction.

You shot your whole point when you said "Glee is real". There is no "real" on TV, just approximations of real. Great if you have some connection to the show, that is what the notion of "art" is all about. But let's not get so wrapped up in how "real" a scripted television program is.

Personally, I think it is in poor taste to make fun of someone's struggles (it's an easy target, like conservatives) but there is no shortage of poor taste on television these days, for sure, and nothing says they can't indulge in that.

As much as I feel bad for Lindsey and where her life has gone.. The writers have every right to take a shot at her, How many times have Conan, Leno, Letterman taken shots at her? Lindsay really brought all of this on herself. No one forced her to go down the path of illegal and perscription drug abuse.. There are plenty of actresses who have avoided that path.. or matured out of it. It was appropriate for the setting it was done in.. A spanish teacher trying to make learning a new language fun and intresting to new students and retain their attention.

How dare you make a comment about this when you said yourself you have never watched the show. Do you think Lindsay Lohan is the only perosn who has ever been the butt of a joke? Until you watch the show, keep your opinions to yourself. The show is funny and I thought the comments were hilarious. She has the opportunity to redeem herself and take her life more seriously. If she does redeem herself, then the jokes shouldn't bother her. A lot of people have done things in life that they aren't proud of. If you can get past those things, you can laugh at them down the road. It was meant as a JOKE....People just need to lighten up. Everyone knows that she has a disease, but until you admit the problems and take the steps to fix it, how do you expect people to not make a joke about you?

To assume that Lindsey Lohan is a "contemporary" is silly. It is a lawyer using a word to confuse people. All it means is that they are actresses at the same time. What does THAT have to do with anything. By that rationale comedians could never make fun of celebrities because they are contemporaries. Perhaps Mrs. Lohan should focus on her daughter living right so there wouldnt be any ammunition for jokes. I am not sure that is Lindsey was the guest that she could have made jokes about Gwenneth. Wonder why...

Hmmm! I think it's a wonderful example to our youth of "what you never want to be – a drunk, drug addict and if you are – it’s a guarantee you will be the butt of jokes. Not necessarily on prime-time TV, but at school, cafeteria and around the dinner table. I also think her Mother and family need a reality check! or following family tradition "Check In." I agree Lindsey is beautiful, smart and a talented young women. But she is also a drunk, drug addict, self center, spoiled brat, lacking any morals. That I blame on her parents. Dina if you don't want your daughter(s) to be the butt of every prime-time, even day and night time TV jokes, you should have taught your children to be respectful, moral, law abiding citizens.

Everyone saw what she wrote on her nails and proudly flashing for the world to see. Some say it's a cry for help or a plea. As a Mother, I would have taken my daughter into the bathroom and washed her hands before she walked into the courtroom. I would NOT appear in public media, crying and carrying-on all that drama, proclaiming that it's not my precious Lindsey's fault, it’s the media's fault, the people who force themselves in her life, she's a good girl, and she is innocent and has no problems.

WAKE UP GIRL! or have you again proven the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Check yourself "In" as well!

Now, if you are using this antic as a platform to launch a ridiculous lawsuit, costing tax-payers more money because of your sorry-ass, habitual self seeking attention grabbing person that you seem to be, refusing to take ownership, YOU should be slapped with a lawsuit for your contribution to the destruction of your daughter and lack of moral character. My advice; sit down, shut up and clean up your house and family. You are not helping your daughter, you are making more of a mess and now encouraging more jokes. See you on SNL.
