Brad Pitt wants to make the Chilean miners movie

Much like the rest of the world, Brad Pitt was touched by the story of the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped underground for more than two months before being rescued. Now, the 46-year-old actor is in talks to tell their tale on the big screen.

People.com reports that Pitt's production company Plan B – which he founded with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston – "has expressed potential interest in the story," according to company rep Jon Liebman, CEO of Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

"Like so many people worldwide, Plan B has been incredibly moved by the story of the Chilean miners and their families."

Though a lawyer for the miners told the Santiago, Chile, newspaper El Mercurio that Plan B offered millions for the men's story, Liebman shoots down those claims. "There have not yet been serious discussions," he tells People.

This wouldn't be the first time Pitt's Plan B has turned a true-life drama into a moving movie. In 2007, the company released "A Mighty Heart," which starred Angelina Jolie as journalist Mariane Pearl, whose husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, was kidnapped and slain by terrorists in Pakistan.

Everyone that's comparing "9/11" to the Miners need to stop. There is no comparsion. First 9/11 was an attack on our country. What the Miners experienced probably was tramatic, but it was an accident and they were able to stick together to save themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they still being provided food and water? Unlike in "Alive" where the men on to resort to eating the remains of one of their deceased own to survive. What makes them heroes?

Angelina has had such a horrible effect on Brad. His best work was all done before he even knew her. He needs to stop with all the humanity crap and start making films people actually want to see again.

Saying let it go doesn't mean what happened to there men wasn't important or that anyone should forget. It just means stop bringing it up over and over especially if we plan on using their story in some crappy movie starring a bunch of white guys in an attempt to make money off of what happened. I think that would belittle what happened if anything. At the very least, too soon.

Who cares what happened? A mine collapsed and chile was unable to provide an adequate rescue attempt so the rest of the world got involved. If anything we need to make a movie about substandard working conditions in Chile.

Why are they heros??? All they did was try to survive which is a natural instinct that any human or animal has. If a gazelle outruns a lion is he a hero. If the lion catches the gazelle is he a villian. All either of them are doing is trying to survive. We just want to glamorize these people for our own selfish entertainment.

"Let it go" doesn't mean "forget it ever happened". It means, stop exploiting an event for profit, an event that has already been over-Hollywoodized to the extreme in it's coverage for a purely political agenda. Unless the majority of profits this film will make end up in a charitable organization, it's creation will serve little higher purpose than to increase Plan B's balance sheets.

I think that's a great idea! I love movies based on true stories, and something that not centered around white America. Get unknown people in there and it can have the potential of being a very good movie like the italian movie 'La Vida Breve' in english 'Life is beautiful'. That was such a great movie about an italian jew in Germany WW2

To say "let it go" about the chilean miners is like saying "let it go" about 9/11, WW1, WW2,etc. Not saying it was as important, but what happened certainly brought to light the poor security that miners in many countrys have to deal with. Making a movie about something like this is all about bringing to the forefront great courage in the face of the most adverse of conditions.I hope the movie raises awareness on what needs to be done about preventing more disastors such as this one (nobody talked about the other miners that died recently in similar accidents) "lest we forget"

I don't think a mighty heart was a hit. Did they get their money back? people have had a nice dose of these guys and now are ready to move on. The guy that took over the task of the NYC marathon left a cold trail. I think the minors moment of glory is over. A movie would likely leave us cold.

Wasn't it "Plan B" that the pros used to get the miners out when Plan A failed. Hey Brad, if you are going to make this movie and it should be made, can you please get latino actors to play the roles. As much as I loved the movie "Alive", there were no latino men in that film. And get unknown actors to give it a believable affect.
