Hollywood veterans sign on to 'The Event'You may not know the name Bill Smitrovich, but you're probably familiar with his work: He's been in 89 movies and TV shows since 1982, according to IMDB. He's probably best known as the father from the series "Life Goes On," and playing military figures in the hit movies "Independence Day" and "Air Force One." He's also gotten quite the promotion on NBC's conspiracy thriller series "The Event," playing the vice president to Blair Underwood's President Martinez. On Monday night's episode, he told reporters in a conference call, we find out a lot more about Vice President Jarvis. "It’s always nice to have your character be revealed in some way, and the depth of that character, because of this episode, will be revealed as well," he said. "But it also sets up great conflicts - inner conflicts - for this character. There are a lot of monsters out there who wear cuff links and get millions of dollars a year and I happen to get caught up in this cesspool of promises from those kinds of people." 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' draws big ratingsAlmost 5 million viewers tuned in to the Sunday night premiere of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.” TLC announced that the début episode of the new show drew 4.96 million total viewers, making it the No. 1 program launch in TLC history among households, besting the “What Not to Wear” series launch in 2003. The new show features a glimpse into Palin’s life in her home state and is scheduled to initially run for eight weeks. While "Palin's" ratings were big, last year's break-up announcement on TLC's “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” continues to reign as one of the network’s biggest draws to date, with more than 10 million viewers. Brad Paisley's CMA song to be his next singleAs five-time nominee and 2010 CMA entertainer of the year, it’s no surprise that Brad Paisley knows how to command an audience. During the CMAs last week, Paisley sang a demo of “This is Country Music,” which was scheduled to be released with his next album. The reaction on Twitter from country fans was all love: Mikexner: New favorite song - Brad Paisley, This is Country Music and We Do...is that what it's called? Awesome. Samfoster_ks: Brad Paisley’s song says it all – country music is “your life in a song.” #CMA Ddc_macfan: Brad Paisley just killed it at the #CMA’s! Love that song! It spoke to fans so much that Paisley announced via Twitter on Friday that the song is quickly being remixed and will be released as his next single. 'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Do you feel sorry for Rachel Uchitel?Alleged Tiger Woods mistress number one, Rachel Uchitel, is finally breaking her silence today: She's now admitting to having an affair with Tiger Woods. Uchitel told the U.K.’s Daily Mail that she wants people to know who she really is. In the interview, Rachel reveals that she regrets sleeping with Tiger, saying “I will never, ever do that again.” Apparently, Uchitel threw herself into a slew of bad relationships after she lost her fiancé in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and says her search for a perfect man evolved into a “love addiction” akin to alcoholism or a drug addiction. So I have to ask, do you feel sorry for Uchitel? Post your comments here. Oksana Grigorieva to appear on 'Larry King Live'Yes, it's official: Oksana Grigorieva will sit down with Larry King on "Larry King Live" this Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET. Last week, the judge refused to grant Mel Gibson's request to prohibit Grigorieva from talking to the media about their child custody battle. According to reports, Grigorieva will speak to King about domestic abuse on behalf of battered women, despite Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon's suggestion to steer clear of the media. Story developing... 'Glee' stars get wild(er) in behind-the-scenes videoIf you thought that "Glee" GQ photo shoot was scandalous, you ain't seen nothing yet. The magazine recently posted behind-the-scenes video footage of Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Dianna Agron posing for the November issue that is even racier than what appeared in print. In the video – which can be viewed at GQ's website – Michele is seen wearing a short skirt and and open shirt while straddling Monteith's shoulders; tearing off her jersey and pulling open Agron's top; making like a naughty teacher in a black blazer, bra and panties; and asking for a book on sex education. Let's dance 'Real Housewives of Atlanta'Can we be honest here? Sheree’s dancing skills are only a notch or two above Kim’s singing. Watching Sheree prance around on Sunday night’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” during her appearance on the local version of “Dancing with the Stars” was almost as painful as Phaedra’s upcoming childbirth is bound to be. I could get all deep and discuss the symbolism of her being kicked out of the upper room and into the public restroom to prepare and how that so clearly mirrors her personal life, but I won’t go there. LeAnn Rimes tweets congrats on ex's engagementLeAnn Rimes has confirmed that she isn’t engaged, but her ex-husband Dean Sheremet apparently is, and the country star says she’s happy for him. On Saturday, Rimes tweeted, “Congrats to @deansheremet and @sarah_silver on your engagement! A little birdie told me the happy news last night. Wishes for a life full of happiness.” Sheremet, 29, and Rimes, 28, were married for nearly eight years before their union came to an end in 2009. Earlier that same year, news of her romance with actor Eddie Cibrian, 37, became public. (The "CSI: Miami" star also filed for his own divorce from wife Brandi Glanville in August, 2009.) Next 'Wolverine' film won't be a sequelNew details have emerged about the upcoming Wolverine sequel – and it turns out the film won't be a sequel at all. In an interview with HitFix, director Darren Aronofsky revealed that the film, officially titled "The Wolverine," will not be a follow up to 2009's popular "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Instead, Aronofsky's project, featuring the razor-clawed Marvel superhero and starring Hugh Jackman, will be a one-off, stand-alone film. As for the plot, ComingSoon reports that the story will find Wolverine – more commonly known as Logan – embarking on a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage was already promised to another man. Never one to take no for an answer, Logan takes on her father and sword-wielding brothers in an attempt to win her heart. A short-lived reunion on 'The Walking Dead'Sunday night's episode of "The Walking Dead" featured that long-awaited moment where Rick finally reunited with his family, who thought he was dead. It was every bit as emotional as one might expect. Meanwhile Shane, who was involved with Rick's wife, Lori (not to mention seeing his de facto leadership of the camp threatened), reacted in as poorly a manner as possible. After the thrills of fighting off a horde of zombies in Atlanta, Glenn showed up in his sports car only to be yelled at for leaving the car alarm on and seeing it raided for spare parts. The realities of the camp hit the survivors hard, and it looked as though some of them were more of a threat to each other than any "walker." |
