Coco returns: The live-blog, with exclusive openerAt long last, the premiere of "Conan" has arrived. We sat through a "60 Minutes" interview, a live CoCo cam with dancing tacos and plenty of promos. But tonight, we'll finally get to see what Conan O'Brien will bring to TBS at 11 p.m. ET. We're ready to get this live-blogging going - join in after the jump. Jersey love as Snooki visits 'Cake Boss'Talk about a reality show crossover. Snooki from “Jersey Shore” is paying a visit to TLC’s “Cake Boss” on Monday. While popping in to Carlo’s Bake Shop, she makes the acquaintance of “Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro’s cousin, who is clearly a fan of the Snooks. Unfortunately, the admiration only seems to flow one way. “Do you go tanning?” Snooki asks him, to which he replies, “No I don’t.” “I can tell,” the Snookster says. Oh well; so much for the GTL love. Click here to watch a clip of Snooki visiting “Cake Boss.” Jackson's kids to Oprah: He was the best dad everMore than a year after his passing, Michael Jackson’s parents and children appeared on Monday’s episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” sharing personal memories of the late pop star. During the pre-taped program, Katherine Jackson spoke on topics ranging from her son’s childhood to what she describes as the worst day of her life, his death on June 25, 2009. In August, 2009, it was determined that Jackson died from an overdose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol. Mrs. Jackson told Winfrey that she spoke to her son only once about drugs, which he denied using. Amber Tamblyn matches wits with 'House'When Amber Tamblyn ("Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants") was first offered a role as a new doctor on the wildly popular series, "House," she wasn't too excited about the prospect. "As soon as they came to me and said they wanted to write something, I went, 'Oh, I don’t want to do a medical show. That doesn’t sound very fun to me,'" she said during a conference call with reporters. "I started asking my friends. They all went, 'Are you an idiot? It’s not a medical show. You’ve never seen it?' I went, 'No.' I felt very stupid for ever thinking that." Once she had a chance to watch old episodes of the show, she was "blown away," and couldn't wait to work with the cast. Looking toward the future on 'Eastbound & Down'To borrow a line from William Shakespeare, all's well that ends well - unless your name is Kenny Powers. We last left KP and Stevie tying up a few loose ends in Mexico before they headed back home to Shelby, North Carolina. In a nutshell, Stevie got married, KP was offered another shot at the Majors League and he seemed primed for a reunion with the love of his life, April. For those of you thinking KP would end season two reuniting with the girl of his dreams and setting the world of professional baseball on fire, Chapter 13 hit us with the old reminder that what plays out in the mind of our protagonist is usually a far cry from his actual reality. 'Hold Me in Paradise' on 'Boardwalk Empire'So after last week's "Going Nucky" Halloween celebration, I decided to take it easy this week, laying low around the office and sticking close to my cubicle. While I was refraining from charging extra for cans of Sprite, I had a chance to reflect on the season thus far, and if there's been one common thread throughout each of the eight episodes to this point, it’s been the show's use of symbolism. Some moments were cleverly covert, such as the muddy tracks in the pristine marble foyer of the Ritz Carlton at the conclusion of episode three, "Broadway Limited.” After Chalky's driver was hanged with the words "Liquor Kills" sprawled onto the car beneath him, Nucky's allegorical footprints seemed to signify the exact place in time when the filth of his illegal dealings began to invade his otherwise clean, docile existence. 'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Would MJ have approved of 'Oprah' interview?Oprah Winfrey just sat down with Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, for a big exclusive interview that is airing today. But that's not even the biggest headline! Michael’s three kids also sat down with Oprah and revealed brand new details about their father, who fiercely protected his kids’ identities. Of course the first thing that came to mind was if Michael would have approved or not. I tend to doubt it. We never got to see much of them at all until after he died, so I can only presume that he would have continued to shield them from the public, for better or worse. A trashy 'Real Housewives of Atlanta'"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" may have moved to a new night, but they are still the site of the same tomfoolery. Sunday night’s episode was titled the “Trashed Collection,” but honestly it could have been titled “More Delusions.” First there was Kim’s disappointment with the new track Kandi worked up for her, “The Ring Didn't Mean a Thing.” Now I’m not sure, but I think Kim was more upset with the fact that Kandi is working with Sheree’s hair stylist Lawrence who, for the record, can actually sing. Will Hugh Jackman host the Oscars again?Don't expect to see Hugh Jackman giving a repeat performance as host of the Oscars. The actor, who earned both raves and good ratings for his Academy Awards gig two years ago, has turned down an offer to do another turn in 2011, according to Deadline.com. The site is reporting that the 42-year-old star is skipping the prestigious February 27 ceremony because he will be busy filming the superhero sequel "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The movie, which will be directed by Darren Aronofsky, is set to begin shooting in late February or early March. "[Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic," Jackman told New York magazine's Vulture. "There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.” Billy Ray Cyrus to host TLC's 'Homecoming'Despite being in the midst of a divorce, Billy Ray Cyrus hasn't forgotten the importance of family. The 49-year-old singer is making that clear as host of TLC's upcoming "Homecoming," a reality series that will chronicle the surprise reunions of members of the military with their loved ones. "'Homecoming' extends TLC’s focus on authentic and relatable life experiences," says Eileen O'Neill, president and general manager of TLC. "We look forward to honoring our service men and women, and celebrating in the unmatched moment when they are reunited with their families." TLC has ordered three hour-long episodes of the heartwarming series, which was inspired by online and local-news segments in which soldiers surprise their friends and family back home. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the premiere date for "Homecoming" has not yet been set. |
