After four years as the wig-wearing "Hannah Montana," Miley Cyrus is no stranger to playing characters in disguise. Now, she's taking it to a whole new level in an upcoming detective comedy.
"So Undercovers" will star the 17-year-old singer as a tough-talking, streetwise private investigator hired by the FBI to go undercover at a college sorority, reports Deadline.com.
"What Happens in Vegas" director Tom Vaughan will helm the project, with a script by Allan Loeb ("Wall Street 2") and Steven Pearl ("The Switch"). Cyrus's mom, Tish, is co-producing the film and confirms to E! Online, "'So Undercovers ' is a fun mix of action and comedy and has a powerful female lead that Miley was drawn to playing."
The actress previously starred in this year's "The Last Song," and will appear opposite Demi Moore in next year's "LOL: Laughing Out Loud."
Guy East, whose Exclusive Media Group is financing "So Undercovers," tells Deadline, "[Miley] has become a worldwide superstar in every field she has become involved in, from movies to fashion, to music and TV. Her show is not only the most successful cable TV series, it has been released in 150 countries and 26 languages. And her movies have grossed $630 million worldwide. She has become the biggest female brand in the world, and this has the potential to be a massive audience movie."
