'Daily Show' No. 1 late-night show among adultsIt looks like Conan O’Brien will have some serious competition when “Conan” debuts at 11 p.m. on Monday. The current king of late night is none other than “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart, as the Comedy Central mock newscast closed out October as the No. 1 late night talk show among adults 18-49. This makes the “Daily Show” the first program that wasn’t “The Tonight Show” or“The Late Show with David Letterman” to do so since at least 2000, according to a press release from Comedy Central. But ratings website TVByTheNumbers.com offers a few grains of salt with this news, pointing out that during the week of October 18, all three of the late night programs mentioned were airing repeats. The site suggests that if that week had been included, “Daily Show” would’ve been behind both Letterman and Leno. Is Rocco DiSpirito cooking up a reality show?Though he caught heat for his 2003 NBC series "The Restaurant," celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito is cooking up another reality show. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 43-year-old foodie favorite will serve as host of Bravo's upcoming "Rocco's Dinner Party." The cooking competition, currently in development, will feature four aspiring chefs per episode, with DiSpirito playing judge. The hopefuls will be asked to prepare their favorite dish, a themed appetizer, and a complete dinner-party menu, with one chef being cut after each task. Whoever doesn't make it onto the chopping block gets the opportunity to whip up courses for a private dinner party attended by DiSpirito and his very discriminating guests. #WelcomeHomeWeezy celebration plans setEarly Thursday morning, Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was released from an eight month stint at Riker’s Island, tweeting "#WelcomeHomeWeezy" and "aaaaaaahhhhhhmmmmm baaaaakkkkkkkkkk" within hours of his release. Back in March, Wayne was sentenced to a year in prison on gun charges, with news of his projected November 4 release date arriving in July. The anticipation for the 28-year-old artist to be "free at last" extended far past what his loved ones must have felt. Between the #freeweezy t-shirts and hashtags, and even MTV’s Weezy Watch, an around-the-clock catalog of everything to do with Wayne’s release, it’s clear that the fans have been ready. So ready, in fact, the makers of life-size celebrity wall posters claim the frenzied demands of “millions” of Weezy lovers caused them to have to release a Lil Wayne Fathead earlier than expected. “We just kept getting bombarded by Weezy fans demanding that we release his Fathead immediately, so we caved and his Fathead is officially free”, said a Fathead spokesman. “We even sent his Fathead along with a special code to say no hard feelings”. Okay then. 'Storm Chaser' remembered with 'Dedication' episodeThere was unexpected news folded into last night’s episode of the Discovery channel reality show, “Storm Chasers.” After watching meteorologist Matt Hughes triumphantly track down a tornado in the fourth episode of the season, viewers learned that Hughes had passed away in Wichita, Kansas, on May 26. According to a statement posted on the network's website, he died "due to an injury unrelated to his chasing activities." Scarlett Johansson cast as alien temptressIf you thought Scarlett Johansson's beauty was out of this world, just wait till you hear about her new movie. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 25-year-old actress is set to star in "Under the Skin," a sci-fi drama in which she'll play a sexy alien who comes to earth and uses her feminine wiles to catch her victims. "She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey - her voracious sexuality," explains FilmNation, the company selling the project. Down with the sickness on 'Modern Family'One thing "Modern Family" is so great about capturing are those little moments we can all relate to. I have to say, I've felt Phil's frustration on Wednesday night's episode at trying to figure out which smoke detector was beeping around the house on many occasions. When he finally lost it and attacked the smoke detectors with the "business end" of his old college cheerleading baton (complete with Schwarzenegger-esque one-liners), I'm sure a lot of people have been tempted to do the same (especially in the middle of the night). Meanwhile, in the Dunphy house, both Claire and Haley spent some time together, sick in bed. Claire took the opportunity to finally confront Haley about her boyfriend, Dylan (who responded to Phil's warning not to get close to the sick Claire with, "Haley told you about that? It's just a dream!"). 'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Is it time to forgive LeAnn?Brooke Anderson here, with big controversy today over LeAnn Rimes’s revelation about her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian. She says they cheated for love! In her brand new interview on ABC’s “In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts,” LeAnn says her infidelity just sort of happened. “It happens every day to so many people…You had two couples whose marriages didn’t work who really stumbled upon each other and fell in love," she said. Yes, people do it every day but that does not make it okay. Why do people simply not take their marriage vows to heart? NBC developing pilot for Chelsea Handler comedyComedian Chelsea Handler's life is just one big joke – which makes it the perfect material for a new TV show. Deadline.com reports that NBC is developing a pilot for "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," an autobiographical comedy named for the second of Handler's three humor books and based on her life in her 20s. The 35-year-old "Chelsea Lately" host – who is co-producing the new show - won't star in the series, nor will the lead character be a comic, but the storylines will draw from her best-selling essays about dating, sex, family and her everyday experiences. Jay-Z responds to MC Hammer's videoHammer did warn us that this was coming. Back in September, Kanye West released the track “So Appalled” as part of his popular G.O.O.D. Music Fridays campaign. Aside from Jay-Z, the song features the likes of RZA, Swizz Beatz, Pusha T and CyHi Da Prince, but it’s Hova’s verse that set off Hammer. “And Hammer went broke so you know I’m more focused/I lost 30 mil so I spent another 30/cause unlike Hammer, 30 million can’t hurt me,” the industry mogul rapped. Katy Perry: I have all I wanted in Russell BrandAccording to 26-year-old singer Katy Perry, she's "kind of a good girl," but then again, "I'm not," she explains in the December issue of Harper's Bazaar. "I'm a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect," says the recently married pastor's daughter, who adds that she found her soul mate in outrageous comic Russell Brand. "I always knew I wanted a great man of God, someone who was going to be an inspiration for people and also be a lovely husband and father," she says. "We're at different places in our lives, but we can still grow together. He's thought-provoking, articulate, a real advocate. I also definitely wanted to have a laugh. I have all that in him." |
