Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus file for divorce

Sad news for Miley Cyrus. After 17 years of marriage, the teen star's parents are calling it quits.

In a joint statement, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus tell CNN: "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."

The Cyruses, who are parents to five children – Miley, Braison, and Noah, as well as Trace and Brandi, Tish's kids from a previous relationship - filed divorce papers in Tennesse's Williamson County Chancery Court on Wednesday citing irreconcilable differences, according to Us Weekly.

Country singer Billy Ray is reportedly asking for shared custody of their three minor kids, plus an equitable division of their marital assets.
