The next 'Batman' movie will be called......"The Dark Knight Rises," according to the Los Angeles Times, in an interview with director Christopher Nolan. Nolan and his brother Jonathan are hard at work on a script for what they see as the final chapter in a Batman trilogy, set for release in July 2012. As one might expect, much of it is shrouded in secrecy, including what, if anything, will be done about the late Heath Ledger's Joker character (last seen - spoiler alert! - tied up and hanging upside down off the side of a building). There's been a lot of speculation about which villain will be featured in the movie, but the Times was only able to get Nolan to rule out the Riddler (he had earlier ruled out Mr. Freeze), making Catwoman or the lesser-known Hugo Strange good possibilities. Batman's "rogues gallery" is practically endless, so Nolan could certainly come up with someone that nobody is talking about, as well. What do you think of the movie's title? Which villain (or villains) do you think would be perfect for Batman to go up against for the trilogy's grand finale? Share your thoughts below. |

KILLER CROC!
POISON IVY!!! Now a days they could totally step up how she uses her powers!! They could take a hint from Batman Arkham Asylum and have her b totally bad ass!!!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as " The Joker" (limited Role or no Joker to respect the work of Heath Ledger)
Phillip Seymour Hoffman as "Penguin" (English Banker looking to monopolize company in Gotham through "Aggressive" means")
Kevin Spacey as "The Riddler"
I would like to see Batman go up against Bane.
I would like to see them bring in Bane. I want to see a dark, bloody, dirty, and nasty fight between him and Batman.
You are all insane. Clearly the best bad guy would be Kevin Spacey playing the Penguin as portrayed by Christopher Walken...Ok...I'm drunk...
Ok I want Clayface but I'm not sure that'll carry too well in this Batman story style. It would probably get way too cgi-ey
Honestly there are so many – while I'd love to see Calendar man, I'd also love a little battle/search for Zsasz, I could only imagine what that would be like in this little universe we have here. The Blue Bat could make things interesting since we know Batman took the fall for killing Harvey Dent and essentially left the city hating him – it could send the city's hatred of him further downward.
Robert Knepper as Riddler. Make the Riddler "one of the darker ones"...

The Black Mask and Bane
The producers should really 'resurrect' Prince for this one.
A real Bat-Man needs an androgynous side kick with twisted love interest, wearing a costume with high heels and cheeky cutouts.
The villain should be Superman. Just like in the Dark Knight graphic novel.
Aight so looking down i saw that some idiot was saying that Health Ledger was only famous for this movie because of his acting. ARE YOU KIDDING!? his role in the dark knight was stunning, by far his best work, amazing fit and not a single person could have ever played it better, no one can or will replace the jokers spot. Nolan wont do it because there wont be anyone who can fill the role like that.
Two-face will be back, and they need a serious, powerful actor for a second villain... Russel Crowe as a crime boss known as the Penguin (but no pointed nose or goofy makeup or outfit or quacking a la Danny Devito, just a normal looking tough guy in a three-piece Italian suit with a black umbrella).
"Dark Knight Risen".
I believe that Catwoman would be the best character to have Batman against in the final film. The relationship between Batman and Catwoman is always incredibly entertaining. Also, if you look at a recent issue of GameInformer magazine, the new Batman game features Catwoman. So I say odds are that it will be her.
clayface
For all you who think Harvey Dent died at the end of the Dark Knight, try this on, the memorial for Harvey at the end of the movie was a memorial for the death of the symbol he portrayed in Gotham "the shining light" not physically him. I believe he is still alive, just kept under wraps from the public. He will be back in the new movie.
No "Riddler"? Damn! Someone has to cleanse the public's palate of the AWFUL Jim Carey version of this fantastic batman villian. Please??
The penguin played by Phillip Seymor Hoffman!!!!!!!
Please NOT catwoman.
Who cares!
Duh – the only way to finish out a Batman Tril. is with Bane
Halle Berry as Catwoman!
the next Batman will be a bomb...without Heath Ledger's Joker, the entire series is a bore....actually, compared to Ledger's Joker, BATMAN himself is a monumental bore...spend the $$$ on another project that has a chance of success...
Harley Quinn. They probably wouldn't do Killer Croc to keep CGI to a minimum.
They should call it:
"Batman 2 Electric Boogaloo"
Batman needs to battle the most under appreciated superhero of all time, ANTMAN. For those unfamiliar with Antman,.. he can shrink himself down to the size of an ant, while still retaining his normal human strength.
Batman needs to battle the most under appreciated superhero of all time, ANTMAN. For those unfamiliar with Antman,.. he can shrink himself down to the size of an ANT, while still retaining his normal human strength!
i think it should be the riddler, but he should have a green suit instead of that onepiece suit that jim carrey wore!
Batman needs to battle the most under appreciated superhero of all time, ANTMAN. For those unfamiliar with Antman,.. he can shrink himself down to the size of an any, while still retaining his normal human strength!
I would like to see Bane. The real Bane. Brilliant and psychotic. Not the stupid mindless one from the Batman movie years ago.
I tell you who would be excellent....and that is MANBAT!!!
Do you think Batman will do that stupid growl-bark-throat clearing thing when he talks this time? Oy.
I agree that was totally stupid.
Amusingly, the website for the Post Chronicler (a UK site? not sure) says that Catwoman is virtually a shoe-in for the next movie. They even dropped a juicy piece of "gossip" that seems to point that way: Selina Kyle has signed on to be in the film! *rolleyes* Thank god CNN didn't pick that up.
I'd like to see Raj al Ghoul return as the ultimate mastermind. That he somehow escaped the train crash, fell back into the "shadows" to bide his time. What's more, have a tie into the Dark Night and have it that Raj warped the mind of the joker and then let him loose on Gotham. Cap it off with a dark revelation by Bruce that he has, ever since Batman Begins, been a tool that Raj has wielded to meet and propel his own needs, and that everything that has happened since Batman and Raj's last encounter (including the back and forth between the joker) has been a part of Raj's greater plan.
Sounds a lot like Hush to me...
Gary Sinise looks like Hugo Strange and would make a good one.
I think Clive Owen would be a great villian. He could play a dark and serious roll as the riddler. Who said the Riddler had to be 'funny' Nothing wrong with a genius criminal mind who can keep Batman thinking. Clive would be the one I would cast.
Sandman
The Nolans are the only people who could do Bane credibly and frankly after Joker, Bane is the only place they can go. Joker was the lunatic and Bane was the coldly rational killer whose abilities rivaled batmans. Even a sociopath type of riddler would have just been joker light. Clayface would require way to much lame CGI and would ruin the dark, starkly realistic feel of the movies. Not to mention his abilities are silly. Please no batwoman or catwoman either. Two face is not that interesting; he has no unique capabilities that should make him hard to deal with.
I really hope they do Bane. The villian who destroys the Bat would be epic. If nothing else, do Azrael/Jean-Paul Valley without the Bane sideline and it would still be really good. Then you would have Bruce Wayne fighting Batman.
The film should have a new villain – The Needler – not quite as extroverted as The Joker but just as disarmingly funny in that life-of-the-party kind of way. The Needler should be played by an actor who looks just like Heath Ledger, only 60 lbs heavier and with an obvious and most likely contagious skin condition. When Batman first confronts The Needler, there is a palpable undercurrent of unresolved and highly inappropriate attraction between them. A violent fight ensues, which quickly (a little too quickly) degenerates into a wrestling match. Batman's suit rips, exposing his Garanimals underpants. In the film's most moving scene, the Needler complains that he doesn't get to see Batman often enough and that the Caped Crusader doesn't give him nearly enough of what he needs, a justification for his frequent trips to Tijuana. The final scene has Batman and The Needler burglaring each others turds in a makeshift pup tent, while Commissioner Gordon spies on them disapprovingly through high powered binoculars. Should I be writing for Hollywood or what!
Nicole Richie as Catwoman, perfect.
Daniel Day Lewis as whatever villian Nolan wants him to b. The guy chews scenery in every flick he's been in.
I would like to see Harlyquinn as one of the main villains!
There will be two villains, one of which will be the Joker. I'm hoping the other is Bane as he is in the comics. The back story on that character is pretty heavy and fits in great with Nolans Batworld.
No the the Riddler, he is too over the top. No to Bain, he was ruined in that stupid Batman and Robin movie when Poison Ivy loaded him up with poisonous plant extract or something. All of Batman's villians are pretty goofy except for a few of the darker ones like Joker, Scarecrow and Clayface. They could do Clayface (which woyuld be awesome with the effects) and then could bring in Soloman Grundy. He has had some meetings with Batman. That would lead to a nice dark movie with Grundy possibly showing up in Superman or JLA down the road.
Harley quinn!!!
I'd love to see either the riddler or Poison Ivy. The penguin would be okay and so would catwoman.
BOOK WORM
Obama as Egghead trying to make the world into a Communist Socialist paradise with no morality. Batman crushes his brown egg colored dome
Marsha Queen of Diamonds
i heard eminem was supposed to play the riddler, i dont know how good of an actor he is but it sounds reasonable
eminem isn't a bad actor at all...of course 8 Mile was his only big movie I think. i don't really want to see the riddler though...too comical
they should introduce Bane, the man who broke batman's back and almost killed batman! Would be a great cliff hanger for future batman movies and maybe keep the franchise alive!
harley quinn wuld b great, but i think they shuld have it were batman is like really old and like it starts with him looking at like his batman suit and he goes into a replay of the past of all of his old criminals he fought, add sum accompleses 2, ( i kno i cnt spell) like hell have one part with superman in it, robin and all these different things, make it so epic, like a 4 hour movie lol, but jokes aside, let him go thru his past and great acomplishes then end it with him like dying of old age and remembered as the great..BATMAN
There would be no one perfect than Ra Al Ghul.A arab villain perfect for todays times.
As far as the late Heath Ledger is concerned I say do NOTHING!!! Heath Ledger died NOT The JOKER. So lets just start casting for the NEXT JOKER,And anyone with the slightest bit of COMMON SENSE would know to cast a man that looked like the late Heath Ledger and I mean ALOT like Heath Ledger. I can not say it enough about how much I miss Heath Ledger, He was by far one of the best up and coming actors in Hollywood up until he passed away due to an accidental overdose. One can only imagine how far this young man would have gone had he not left us so soon in life. I am greatful though that he did leave a legacy behind in his daughter. I truly hope that he has instilled into her all of his truly spectacular talents,And acting wasn't the only talent he had in sure. So with that being said..COME ON and lets get to looking for the next JOKER!!!!!!!
uh yeah... that was long, incoherent, and cheesy.
Osama Bin Laden trying to escape pakistan in a Penguin costume?
Dr. Strange would be cool... also need to flesh out Dent better. Its a shame that the Joker is done, would have really liked to have seen a live-action Harley Quinn. Bane would be another awesome villain. Penguin sucks, he's just a behind-the-scenes white collar criminal anymore. If they did him like he was in the graphic novel "Joker", I think Killer Croc would be pretty wicked also (A 7 foot, 300 pound black gangster with a skin condition and mutated, pointed teeth that was a cannibal and ATE evidence).
The Riddler, played by Crispin Glover.
What about trans-fat man?
Batman should battle the most evil force in the universe... Liberal Stupidity. The film could start out with Liberal Stupidity (LS) deciding that everyone in Gotham has a "right" to own a home, whether or not they are actually responsible individuals and actually able to make a 20% down payment. LS decides that he will twist and distort the system to allow the unqualified to secure idiotically conceived home loans, and that he will become more popular as a result. Then later, when LS's plan predictably leads to economic collapse in Gotham, Stupidity attempts to blame his arch enemy, Rational Thought. Then at the very end, Batman appears on the scene and splits LS's skull wide open with a rusty pipe wrench.
When you can't separate Batman from Politics you have serious problems.
@concordantmind – when you can't separate logic and reality from feel-good delusion, you no doubt voted for Obama.
what about Cain Velasquez as Bain.? anyone?
And in response to one total cretin who suggested that we only liked Ledger after he died... we didn't. We sang his praises in 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU, A KNIGHT'S TALE, THE ORDER (at least the people who saw it), and even in smaller roles like he had in MONSTER'S BALL and LORDS OF DOGTOWN. And lest we forget, he received GG and Oscar noms for what would have been his greatest role (had TDK not come along) as Ennis Del Mar in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Sorry... someone please cue all the gay jokes because they're all SO FUNNY!!!
Bring on BANE. The only one to really jack up Batman and not that sorry version from Batman and Robin.
KNIGHTFALL!
posion ive and harly quinn villian team up would be cool
Batman vs. Madea (played by Tyler Perry). Easily his toughest match yet.
That would be epic. My money's on Madea.
Ok, from the perspective that I saw the Dark Knight, I think that two face is indeed not dead but they wanted Harvey Dent to be remembered by the public for being the White Knight of the City. Everything after the Joker transformed him they did not want the public to remember Harvey Dent for that. Hence they took "two-face" and locked him deep into the confines of Arkham. This is just personal thoughts on the movie by the way.
No Joker. It's just that simple. Nolan has said it. His word is gospel. Not only is the character unnecessary to have in this film, Nolan himself has stated that it would be disrespectful to Ledger's memory. So let's us all stop the needless speculation about who should, would, or did play The Joker. Since Tom Hardy has been cast, and he has a rough exterior that belies an exceptional intellect, I would be extremely happy to see him play Hugo Strange. It would be a great test of Wayne's detective prowess to create a villain that challenges him physically as well as intellectually, as Ra's Al Ghul did. But what this film needs is another nemesis (but not necessarily a villain) who has been 'inspired' by Batman. The logical choice for that is Catwoman. In MIller's YEAR ONE, Catwoman's persona was directly inspired by Batman. In Ed Brubaker's run on her solo comic, she evolved into not just a thief, but a defender of the most unfortunate of Gotham. And since cops only go to The Narrows 'in force', and that is where the most unfortunate of Gotham's citizens live, it would be, what I think would tie to Nolan's unique perspective on the nature of vigilantism and symbolism, an almost necessary plot point. Especially since Batman is now being hunted by the police again. The only suggestion I have for Catwoman/Selina Kyle is Marion Cotilliard. She's extremely talented and extremely beautiful. While we're at it, let's also throw in Sgt. Bullock (Gandolfini would be great for that role) and Det. Renee Montoya (perhaps Vanessa Ferlito?) as cops assigned to hunting Batman. But no Bane, No Hush, and No Superman.
I don't see any reason why they have to stick to the iconography. Let 's show a little creativity here, and I'm NOT talking a Catwoman/Two face clone (although I have to say that Aaron Eckhart did a darn good job there, too! Too bad they killed him off at the end. Pity that...)
It's too bad they couldn't come up with an entirely new villain, after all they did it in the first movie. In the second they made the Joker a psychopath and Two-face the ultimate victim of PTSD, so traumatized by his lover's death and his own disfigurement that he went on a rampage. And both were believable (unlike poor Danny Devito as the ill-conceived Penguin – there's the price you pay for sticking with iconography)
I'm hoping they come up with a true criminal psychopath... and get someone with the stones to pull it off against Christian Bale like both Ledger and Eckhart did, and Neeson did in the first movie.
Sorry if I missed something, but what villain did they make up for the first film? EVERYONE in that film (with the exception of Rachel Dawes) had appeared previously in Batman comics.
I'm seeing Dr. Hugo Strange ( great villain ) played by John Goodman or even Jim Belushi. Both could lend a little of the wall craziness to a really evil villain.
Batman vs. EBEII
The Ventriloquist or the Black Mask are the only two left with real draw. The two character's are heavily involved in the series. Teamed together the possibilities are endless. Johny Depp plays the Ventriloquist and Joaquin Phoenix plays The Black mask. The" Villain LIght" character that twists and foils both hero and villian throughout the new story is a new creation, "Dirty Nukem" a rogue terrorist from the far east that plans to blow up Gotham with a dirty nuke throughout the movie. She is played by Aishwarya Rai. Neither side want's to kill her because she's confused and naive about her world views. Her character meets her demise through the lowlifes she deals with in trying to obtain the materials to make the bomb. The subplot ends half way through when all 3 of the adversaries kinda of team up to kill her killers as a payback that kinda saves the innocent victims those character's wish to kill. Kinda of yes we may be killers but it's still America 1st killer's so F-U terrorist this is still our turf.
Patrick Stewart as Egghead in the next one.

I would love to see Nolan include Poison Ivy in one of his Batman films, I hated what they did to her in that horrible film "Batman & Robin". She's always been one of my favorite characters and if done right, would be really awesome in a Batman film. She could be portrayed like a classic film noir character.
How about we just forget about all the villain stuff. Instead, Batman admits that he's gay, adopts a flaming queen lifestyle, moves to Atlanta, opens a bath house, and begins to vote Democrat. That would be scarier than all the old villains put together!
This epitath for the final movie is if it is done as badly as the last set of Batman movies before this where it began well enough but ended rather dismally both movie wise and box office wise. This series seems more consistent with a main character almost as real as the movie version after leaving the movie set afterwards and the blogs about his great efforts after the last terminator movie shows this unique consistency.
Would of liked riddler to come back, especially if played by a darker jim carrey, loved his role in 23 and it would of been interesting
I think that it should be like this: a few months have passed and Gotham is angry with Batman because of all the costumed villians coming out like Killer Moth or the Mad Hatter, a couple "throw-away" villians. He still keeps fighting though to keep the city safe. Then he meets Catwoman and finds himself being drawn to her because she is unlike any woman he's met and finds himself questioning his mission. Meanwhile, Prometheus shows up and begins to kill cops and try to kill Batman as well. Batman must decide now to wither join Catwoman or stop Prometheus before he destroys Gotham's police force and send the city into chaos.
Batman's villain in the last Nolan-directed film will be none other than the impossible-to-meet expectations of the fanbase. There. I said it.
Catwoman takes DNA (or maybe sperm) from the lifeless body of 2face, and gives birth (or clone) to another 2 face that has excelerated aging. this way the "young" new 2 face (new actor insert here), wrecks havoc like a child. the middle-aged 2face ( insert new middle-aged actor here) can disrupt the working class. and the senior 2 face (insert new aged actor here) can cause corruption in the senior citizen homes! this way we can span a lifetime of 1 villian, but have 3 different actors (ages) for the public choices and array of diiferent crimes
A lot of you people here are suggesting Bane as the next villain... and I agree. He'd be great if he were reinvented into a more realistic person in a realistic world.
What you guys need to realize is that this Bane (in Nolan's realistic world of Gotham City) does NOT need to be this big huge muscled up spandex wearing roid freak like in the comics. So please do away with your ideas of Brock Lesnar or some other freak of nature giant with no acting credibility.
Someone who has decent height, fit, and athletic would be fine. Like a Leonardo DiCaprio.
Sean Young as Catwoman. (remember that?)
I would like to see Zazas, Bane, Killer Croc, or Clayface on the big screen. Maybe the return of Ra's al Ghul from the Lazurus Pit.
I prefer to break away from the comic book villains and try something new.
The last we saw, Batman was running away from the law. In my mind's eye, the next logical step is Batman goes into hiding (semi retires). He feels guilty for Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes' deaths. While in seclusion, the mob retakes Gotham. Another 'white knight' hero comes in and start slowly cleaning up the city once again. The new hero is lavishly praised and adored. He becomes corrupt. Batman and Gordon investigate on their own to discover that the new hero is working for the mob. Epic battle at the end for who controls Gotham's hearts and mind.
My first duo choice, is Mr. Freeze and The Penguin. Second choice, Killer Croc and Poison Ivy.
I think harley quinn with her attachment to Joker would be a great choice for a secondary villian and I would love to see Summer Glau play her (River Tam from Firefly) she has the ability to play a crazy role and the acrobatics as well. The main villian could be Scarecrow at his his full poential.
How About the villain being the Federal Reserve or Chase Bank?
brock lesner as bane, hey he doesn't have to talk, just grunt
I seriously think they could bring back Two Face. It could show some scenes from the end of the Dark Knight where Two Face ended up surviving and then got away from the police as they scrambled after Batman. They would have had the funeral for Harvey Dent in the hopes that they could catch him again before he made a public appearance or if they assumed he was on the verge of death.
Rachel Nichols as Catwomen and Scarlett Johansson as Batgirl.
Here is the thing about Knightfall (the arc where batman gets crippled), if you go back today and reread it, its pretty bad. I know, when it first came out you thought it was pretty awesome, but ask yourself, how old were you when this came out? However if you go read, batman: year one, the long halloween, the dark knight returns, dark victory, those stories are still really good.
How bout Gotham Knight's and make it kind of like Boogie Nights and they can show the downward spiral of Batman as Robin and Azrael shove him out of the limelight and then he make a comeback right at the end. Marky Mark could play Batman and Don Cheadle and John C Reilly could play Robin and Azrael. Burt Reynolds would be the villian. That would be epic.
Someone really should make a movie based on Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Rutger Hauer or Bruce Willis would perfect for the lead role of the aging Bats.
I'd love to see the Riddler done like a serial killer. Not so much a guy in green tights with ?'s all over it. But a vicious killer that likes taunting the public and the police with his riddles. And please don't let Johnny Depp have anything to do with this film. We don't need his brand of "can you figure out if I'm British or American" accent and stringy "I don't need to wash because I'm Johnny Depp" hair.
agreed. Johnny Depp doesn't belong in this trilogy. His chance was The Joker.
I'm a fan of lesser known actors being casted...allows for the storyline to be the focal point, not the actors.
Its too bad Christian Bale can't play Batman AND a villain. American Psycho anyone??
RUSSIAN ARMS DEALER BANE played by Leonardo DiCaprio. (yes I know in the comics he's from S. America)
NOT the comic style gargantuan spandex wearing Bane that is in the comic books with all the tubes going through his body and everything. That's not Nolan's style.
Instead he should be a more realistic person. Like an arms dealer or someone very powerful in the Gotham underground. And he has a habit of juicing up (venom) which makes him very violent. He may also have connections to Two-Face, who at this point is far into criminal activity.
For a potential next villain I think this is realistic and interesting enough to be considered. And Leo would be great for that role I think.
The next Villian must be played by Johnny Depp. He is the only actor capable (and crazy enough) to follow Heath Ledger's performance.
Or have Depp play the twisted alter Batman that took over while he was out with Bane injury...
Bring in a real bane, someone not known and fierce... run the scenario of him getting broken then a brief interlude of the dark knight replacement (was it Areal, can't remember) then bring him back to finish Bane.
just keep aaron eckhart as two face
bring in a new villian. How about an evil Jester. Let it take place during mardi gras down in New Orleans.
Two things, bringing back Harvey Dent(Two-Face) or Raz Al-Gul would really bring the credibility of the trilogy down. You don't need to recycle characters, not with Batman.
I hate to break it to everyone, but they are going to put Robin in this film(Chris Evans-Fantastic 4 or Jeremy Renner-Hurt Locker would be my choices).
Show shorts of Batman and Robin dealing with Harley Quin, Killer Croc, Penguin, Riddler and end with Bane.
Bane has to some how be equal to or better than Ledger's Joker.....not sure if that's possible.
Get Jason Statham on roids for about a year and you've got Bane.
I
I hope to god you are not in the business of screenwriting, casting, producing, or have anything to do with the production of film.
The perfect villain...Rā's al Ghūl!
It would be cool to see Bane! But not the stupid one they made from the crappy Batman movies, but the really cool villain he is in the comic books!
I'd like to see Vin Diesel as Bane.
Really really drark scarcrow
Jack black as the penguin.
i vote the creeper
I propose a female villain – Sweetmuffin, played by Rosario Dawson wearing nothing but pasties and an extremely tiny G-string.
Only if it is Thomas Jane playing Frank
Calendar Man or Dr. Strange & Bane
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Batman_Family_enemies
Only if it is Thomas Jane player Frank
Crossover with the punisher
riddler....with jim carey he was the best I've seen
Maybe throw Firefly in there for good measure, thug for hire that love to burn people alive.
How about a super villain based on reality... Socialismo, a grotesque creature with five heads – Obama, Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy – all sharing a single, low-grade functioning brain and covered with a foul-smelling, viscous slime. And as in real life, Socialismo would wreak havoc throughout Gotham, stealing from productive, responsible and law-abiding citizens and enabling the parasitic lifestyles of the lazy, incompetent and criminal.
Let jet li be kato
Being that the Nolans keep everything anchored in real life, I would love to see their realistic take on Bane and hope that they would have it more of him trying to break the Batman both mentally and physically. The Joker just wanted to make Batman cross a line that he swore he wouldn't cross. This would be so much more aggressive and Batman would be attacked from all sides.
I vote for Bane. If done right, he has both brains and braun.
manbat
As in the original batman, yes the penguin would be good. The riddler, only by Jim Carry. Outstanding in the Mask. But how about King Tut???? After all, he was an original bad guy. Some ancient egyptian prophecy that might come true. Why do people turn this into political bashing? It's about a movie bad guy that should stay true to the original story.
Oprah could play The Blob, she doesn't need make up!
How about Hush as the main villain? or they could make it the black glove.
Clayface
Penguin
Catwoman
Batman vs. Predator vs. Aliens!!! Oh, wait, where did I see that?
Unfortunately, I heard that robin is going to be in this movie.
But I would like to see: Croc or Clayface!
They could at least use the Jason Todd Robin, that would sit better with the whole "darker dark knight" thing they have going.
David "Numbers") Krumholtz as a villain (don't know which one); he's awesome.
I have to say, David Tennant would make a fragging spectacular Riddler. Plus, he's expressed interest. Makes for a win-win situation!
Why stop at three?!!! I love the Dark Knight!!!
Batman v. The Jersey Shore e Jersey Shore
How about Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter & Michael Madson as Tony Zucco
Depp is good as a Lewis Carrol hatter, but he doesn't fit the Batman Hatter at all.
What's really weird is, I think Depp would've been a better Joker than Ledger, and Ledger could've done a decent Hatter. I guess I disagree with the rest of the world when I say that Ledger's Joker wasn't right...but then I'm a comics fanatic, so any Hollywood attempt at improving the story by ruining it doesn't sit well with me.
I'd like to see johnny depp as the riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as penguin
I would be really interested in seeing them bring in Hush or the Red Hood. Lots of potential for heart-wrenching drama either way.
this movie will never be as good as i could have if the joker was still alive..rip
Not a big fan of Nolan, not a fan of big-budget, action-packed, superhero movies. Even inception, eh...just an excuse to have gun-fighting and special effects. The idea of Inception was somewhat original but the execution lacked. Why gunfighting? Inception could have been this surreal, artistic, Kubrickesque trip but instead we have gunfighting. Completely unnecesary.
The Dark Knight was okay, I'd give it an above-average score ofa bout 6/10. Although I will say Heath Ledger does a great job as the Joker. I just watched Tim Burton's Batman last night for the first time in I don't know how long. Far superior. We don't have these cheesy lines, these "look at how cool I am" action scenes, etc. If TDK is your thing, cool, but it's not a great film.
Harley Quinn!!!
You guys are all missing the completely obvious! The person who portrayed the Joker is dead but the Joker himself is now in Arkham Asylum. What better person to be the next villain than the Arkham psychiatrist who falls in love with the Joker .... Dr. Harleen Quinzel.
Dude, put in Firefly. No better way to end an epic trilogy with a guy that "REALLY WANTS TO WATCH THE WORLD BURN"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28comics%29
I think Clayface would be perfect.. given the state of CG now... some of the others have already been done including 2 face but Clay face and the ability to change into other people would be awesome
Clayface, its a no brainer.
Clayface was a great suggestion. How about the Mad Hatter or Croc? After playing Arkham Asylum I have to see Croc on the big screen.
BANE! yeah, that would be great!
james Earl Jones as King Tut
I don't know how any of you, but one person, missed the obvious choice of the Mad Hatter. He has been in the series before i was born – riddler, cat woman, penguin, mad hatter. since it can't be the penguin or riddler, and they made a cat woman movie like 5 years ago or something. IT CAN"T BE ANYTHING BUT THE MAD HATTER. He's a master of mind illusion, they can make it 3d and rob the crowds blind.
Yes!
Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday.
Hey guys, if you are going to come on here and give ur opinion on something, please learn to spell or use spelling check. I can't even read half of these comments cause nobody knows how to spell. Where did yall go to school, university of alabama?
You tell'em SPORT!
ivy and bane! thatd be fuggin tightt. then bring back mr freezey
Stanley Tucci would make a really good Hugo Strange.
Okay, I think they should go for fresh villains. I would like to see Mad Hatter as well as Tweedledum and Tweedledee. They could call it Dark Knight Mirrors or something. I like to see more psychological angst for Bat man. Most Batman villains are played out. Just a thought.
Come on people! CLAYFACE! Can you imagine what Nolan would do with the CGI for that character? It would be AMAZING!
I think Batman's next villain should be a borderline retarded war mongering Texan that snoops on everyone's phone calls and steals from the middle class to give to the rich.
Really...all the other political blogs out there and you have to come on here and TRY to be witty! LOSER!
If he goes on and uses the Joker, it is only natural to bring in Harley Quinn
All of you are officially nerds!
I think matt damon would make a great penguin. And eddie murphy a great riddler.
...... thats the single worst idea..............ever
It sounds interesting. Agostini Diego
Craig Ferguson as Egghead....egggggcellent!
kevin is right. if nolan really wants to stick with the storyline (and leave room for more movies) he should do Son of the Demon. that would be a great flick.
I don't know, Nolan kinda painted himself into a corner. No actual Batman villan is dark enough to fit this set of movies. Ledger was awesome, but he wasn't the Joker, Jack was. You know, kinda funny but creepy. Heath was just a dark psychotic villan NAMED joker.
Mr. Freeze, King Tut, Pengiun? Really they are comic characters.
No , i hope the last movie does what the first two did best, place Bruce Wayne's damaged humanity against Batman's psychotic lust for revenge.
Batman always was the real villian in this story.
Anarchy, Poison Ivy or Catwoman. Better yet have Maggie Gyllenhaal play Catwoman in a deliberate role as a twin of rachel to confuse matters. (Is she or isn't she ??)
Do what they did in the 60's t.v. show (only serious) ....Mix in the Green Hornet and Kato as someone Batman initially perceives as a villan along with the other true super villains. Batman gets some vigilanty help now that Gotham is beginning to turn.
I always liked the Son of the Demon graphic novel. Start the movie with Talia retrieving Ra's body and bringing him back to life using the Lazarus Pit. Have some pyscho/madman want to destory Gotham but in a way that teams Batman and Ra's together. The movie can end like the GN with a son that Batman doesn't know about until years later. This leads to a new series with a whole new creative staff and new characters.
I got it.. I finally figured out the dudes name. Brock Lesnar as Bane. He don't have to say much, so no actor training needed : )
I'd love to see the Penguin, The Riddler, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, or Clayface used as a villain in the next movie. I just hope they don't bring Robin in the mix.
bringing in a strong actress to play harley quinn would be amazing! and I vote Bane & the Penguin (played by Kevin Spacey)
I would love to see if they have any extra footage of Heath Ledger as the Joker which would be awesome! I wouldn't mind seeing Johnny Depp as the Riddler next film, but whomever the next Villain is its still going to be Amazing!!
I am glad none of you are screenwriters
Batman vs. Naploeon Dynamite!!!!
Here are some real villain candidates:
Nancy Pelosi as Menopausewoman
Harry Reid as Al Gore – Savior of the World
Al Gore as The Idiot Savant
Barack Obama as... Barack Obama
George Bush as the Puppet
Dick Cheney as the Puppet Master
Sarah Palin as the Scab
John McCain as a zombie.
or Batman coming out of the closet....lol
no debate at all...the reaper. as in batman year 2 by miller an mcfarlane.
Probably no more freak villains after Joker in Batman 3. Lose "The" in The Dark Knight Rises please. The next villain should be just Bane or Poison Ivy, not both.
how a bout the party animal Lindsey Lohan
Christopher Walken as himself.
I forgot to say – please – please – please – NO Robin or Batgirl!!!
I was never a big fan of any of Batman's villians other than the joker. I think they did good on the first one when created a non-batman comic villian.
I think the Michael Keaton films went down when they switched from the only good batman villian in the joker, the Penguin, Riddler, Mr Freeze etc. At that point it goes too much into fantasy goofness, rather then the dark realistic movie that have done so well in the last two films!
Are you talking about Ra's Al Ghul? Because he is MOST DEFINITELY a Batman villain.
The idea of a movie with all of the batman villians wouldn't work (my source: Spider-man 3...2 villains were too many!) Batman needs another centered villain that is well known among all. I truly wish Nolan would cast Depp as The Riddler. Batman doesn't need another movie focused on fighting a woman (Poison Ivy) or a midget (The Penguin). However, I know Nolan's script will be up to par due to his recent films.
I would like to see interesting story telling and either a villain with super powers or multiple villain. A seemingly impossible task for Batman to complete.
Catwoman definately...
I agree with the whole many villains thing. I want to see more than just two villains at a time. The Riddler would've been good if the Joker wasn't in the last movie. "Why so serious" was a question that was the Riddlers thing so it would kind of seem like he was copying off the Joker if they bring him now. I say they bring in whoever Nolan will make it into something genious. Actually scratch that Catwoman, Batgirl, Robin, All of them need to stay out it's been tried before and it fails.
If this will really be the last in a trilogy then Bane would be the best villain to face Batman and it should end with Bane breaking Batman's back. There should be no mention of Robin or Batgirl ever in this series.
Marion Cotillard as Catwoman. Please.
That would be cool.
Pee Wee Herman.
How about creating an entirely new villain?
fiveteeveeone: I think there were like 3 or more jokers if you count 2.0
Johnny Depp as Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin.
johnny depp would be a funny egghead
I would have loved for Robin to have been introduced somewhere in the first film and had the Joker kill him with a crowbar like in the comic.
That, I think, would have really made the Joker look crazy. Then we could have Rah Al Ghul come back and bring Robin back as the Red Hood.
Two villans in one.
I say it's time for something new like a split personality Batman who fights against himself or a reverse Batman character. You'd never know which is which. (At least I think this would be unique).
a CGI heath Ledger is the ONLY way to go for the Joker. It can be done convincingly i am sure of it.
What if Batman battles someone outside the "normal" supervillians. Say, Osama Bin Laden! Sounds goofy, to be sure, but this series of Batman movies are so dark and ominous that it wouldn't be a huge stretch. We all know that the latest version of Bruce Wayne is a deeper representation, so we could see him considering the positive side of Islamic culture perhaps as a side story.
Batman is an uber-conservative.
HOW ABOUT OSAMA BIN-LADEN???
Grow up. Stop supporting these crappy movies
Darkseid. Maybe get the XMen involved. King Tut and Egghead.
As long as we don't have villian-overload! e.g. Spiderman 3. Too much of a good thing ruins a movie. Don't jump the shark!
Did everyone miss the part where it says The Riddler has been ruled out?
I would like to see Bush and Sarah Palin as the evil villans... The 1st scr3w3d up the country the second helped me loose my caimpaign by virtue of her intellect
King Tut. Of course!
I want to see Mr. Freeze as the villain, ONLY is they get Patrick Stewart to play him, and its based off of Batman the Animated Series Mr. Freeze. One of the most sympathetic villains of all time against a man determined to stop crime at all costs, and already being hounded by the city. You can't tell me that wouldn't be n awesome story thread!
Howard Stern as Fartman.
I loved Jack as the Joker. He was perfect for the part and would love to see him again up against Batman. Devito was great as the Penguin too but Jack as the Joker would be my choice as well as having Cat Woman involved. Not sure who would be the best Cat Woman though.
MATT YOU CANT JUST HAVE THEM SWEEP IN AND RECUE BATMAN HES MORE OF A LONER YES HE JOINS BUT IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO HIM HES A LONER HERO. . . . IT MUST HAVE A STORY LINE HOW THEY BECAME WHEN DID BATMAN AND SUPERMAN MEET WHO ARE THE OTHERS. LIKE THAT EVERYTHING MUST HAVE A STORY
Lex Luthor
Gold star to whoever suggested David Tennant as Riddler. Also, the suggestion that Ledger's Joker wasn't THE Joker, just a shadow leader? Far-fetched, but clever. Kinda fits with what they were doing in the movie, no? That's really the only way they could do the (movie) Joker justice with Ledger gone.
Paul Giamatti as penguin
Let's stop for a second, and think. The last movie left off with him on the run, ergo.. he is not the hero anymore. The whole story has to cast Batman in the shadow. What's left for him to do? Become the hero again? .. No, he doesn't want to be the hero, he wants to use rid Gotham of evil but he also has to avoid the authorities now who are after him. He's constantly on the run, and the only way he can become the hero again is if he defeats a huge villain, in public to show his virtue.
2 words Steve Bucsemi Hes flippin creepy and demented...
Bring lex luthor to gotham... get supes involved in a crossover or a vs. battle....
MARVEL VS DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT WHY END IT THERE THE SAGA SHOULD CONTINUE. . . YES THE TOP VILLIANS HAVE CAME OUT BUT WAT BOUT THE OTHERS YOU CANT LEAVE THEM OUT. ITS ONLY FAIR
It should be the lead in to a Justice League movie. Batman is being ganged up on by a collection of villains, and Superman and the gang sweep in to the rescue.
im pretty sad that the riddler is out, i would have liked something like long halloween
i say he does the Ventriloquist** and the Mad Hatter
Tom Cruise should play himself as a villain.
VERY NICE!!! I LIKE!!!
Ok, I have to admit, if you put Johnny Depp in there as the Riddler, he'd have to be a dark.. mysterious riddler, not one that dances around like a goofball and wearing tights. He'd have to be dark clothed, a tall hat, and an old english overcoat, speaking and leaving behind riddles for Batman to figure out. Although, Bane has to be in it.. he has to be the one to wupp Batman down into submission, but I don't know how you would tie the Riddler in with Bane, which can easily be done with the Penguin since he's a billionaire to keep the story straight.
In Catwoman it's implied that Halle's Catwoman is not the only one but one of many.
OK have like 5 hot chicks as Catwomen:
Scarlet Johansen
Kate Beckinsail
Megan Fox
Lady Gaga
(Fill in the blank)
As a politically incorrect Riddler, throw in Gilbert Gottfried for sick laughs.
As Penguin, I nominate former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani.
The Halle Berry Catwoman movie has NOTHING to do with Batman. Having more than one Catwoman would totally ruin the opportunity to explore the relationship between Batman and Selina Kyle.
Also, Megan Fox would make a HORRIBLE Catwoman.
Folks if this is the final movie, you cannot end it with some 2 bit characters like HUSH, or BAIN, or POISON IVY, or the CATWOMAN. We have already seen parts of the top 5...SCARECROW,2 FACE, JOKER. What we are missing is the RIDDLER and PENGUIN. If the filmakers decide to put any other characters besides those 2, they will disappoint their fans so badly that the movie will flop regardless. Mr. Nolan better reconsider his thoughts about having the RIDDLER portrayed in the next and final BATMAN movie, it could be the last thing he directs if we're disappointed.
I would love to see Catwoman played by Michelle Pfeiffer again as she's still Hot as ever!!!
The trilogy's grand finale? So it will be done after this one?
The Batman is Dark, therefore the villain has to be dark....no comical, no campy.
Perhaps Razz needs to make another appearance...and maybe his hot daughter.
Wasn't there a Batman Vs Dracula? Or you could do Batman vs The Cullens from Twilight. LOL!
The name is fine, but bringing back the joker wouldn't hurt. It needs closure. Two face needs to come back cause, I dont believe he died either. Joseph-Levitt I think would be a good joker. No cat woman, and possibly croc. Whatever the villain, they need to really test batman
I AGRRE USARIAN
i wish they would give adam west some role in it,after all he started it all for some of us.
They have already introduced the Ventriloquist (the blackmailer in Dark Knight). I would assume they'll bring him back with the dummy (Scarface) in the next one since he's set up and ready to go.
IT WOULD ONLY BE FARE THAT YAL BRING OUT JOKERS MAN GIRL HARLY QUINN. ALONG WITH IVY. BUT WHO COULD FORGET DOCTOR CROC. I AGREE WITH THE PEOPLE THE RIDDLER SHOULD COME OUT NEXT ALOONG WITH A FEMALE VILLAIN. BUT GO WITH THE COMIC. RUINES THE MOVIE WHEN THEY DONT. . . . . .YOUR FRIEND THE TRICCSTER
This is just a spoof of Lego Batman
Catwoman, hands down
YES CATWOMEN SHOULD COME OUT BUT SHE ALREADY HAD HER FAME. (SHE HAD HER MOVIE ALREADY)
I nominate Lucy Lui for Harley Quinn!!!
The Riddler. It has to be the Riddler. Don't even bother with catwoman. The Riddler is the best of the rest of Batman's rogues gallery. Thoughm personally, I would like to see a story set with Talia coming forward and enticing Batman the way she has in the past, a world wide puzzle to solve, which would add in the elements of Alfred's former life working for HMSS. The primary villian ends up being a crime family of some kind...less ambiguous than a particular super-villian. My other choice would be an Arkham storyline....with Harley Quinn and all the appearances one would expect, a battle level by level with the who's who...just minus the Joker.
I AGREE. . . YOU KNOW YOUR STORY LINE
Spacey will RUIN the Dark Knight! Seriously, Jim Carrey as the Riddler....he can be dark, and it's not his fault he fell prey to the neon Batman. He can be dark, and would be my ULTAMATE Choice for the Riddler....JC all the way!
The only actor capable to fill Heath Ledger´s shoes is no other than JHONNY DEPP. PERIOD
I think Cillian Murphy's role as Scarecrow could be so much more.......BRING BACK CILLIAN!!!
Bane.... He was butchered in Clooney's Batman.
Villains to consider:
1. Bane
2. Poison Ivy
3. the Penguin
4. Mr. Freeze (I know they ruled him out, but done right, Mr. Freeze could be badass!)
Dr. Harley Frances Quinzel was a psychologist at Arkam who fell in love with the Joker. Later becoming his side kick Harlequin. I would love to see her in the next Batman movie but not as the main villian, but as a secondary antagonist for the Bat. Trying to avenge her lovers downfall!!!
Elliot Spitzer would be an awesome villain!
John Cena as Bane would be good, but he doen't have much acting experience... not counting wrestling...
My understanding was Nolan wanted to develop Batman's detective aspects in this one...I'd go Scarface for the foil, a straight up criminal and master planner that could stay a step ahead of the Dark Knight would make for a great finale.
Kevin Spacey would be an excellent two face and Johnny Depp as the Riddler (or any of them actually) I would pay to see over and over!
Penguin is always good. Although a Hugo Strange and Clayface combination would be great
Yawn
how about Batman teams up with the gang from Scooby Doo!
Real old school. One of the best story lines that gave Batman fits for ages. Bruce Wayne and the world believed Alfred the butler to have been killed when in reality he had been transformed into "The Outsider" He of course knew everything about Bruce Wayne/Batman and made his life hell in trying to kill him. This is a great storyline and has a fantastic ending!
Obviously 2-Face is one villain. I think they should also add in Poison Ivy (Scarlett Johannson) or Penguin (Devito again or Alfred Molina)
You don't need a spoiler alert tag for a movie that's three years old, anybody who hasn't seen it never will or is already dead
I was thinking of someone like Don Knotts.
The next villain should be Halle Berry's Catwoman. She would bring a pres...
...wh..why is everyone looking at me like that? What did I say?
lmao wow! they wouldnt even let you finish your statment!
Fartman could be the villain.
how about dean caine as CLAY FACE, he was featured on a batman cartoon a few years back and hes a bada$$
Taylor Lautner or 'The Situation" as Ra's al Ghul? I'd pay to see Batman go nuts punching them in the face.
I agree with Hotpants earlier – Depp would be perfect as Riddler. He's just strange enough, and a fantastic actor. He could rival Ledger's performance I'd bet.
@ D-Rome "yeah its even on the spanish channel (in a spanish voice)Telemundo!"
Why have a "spoiler alert" for what happens to the Joker? Who hasn't seen The Dark Knight???
CLAYFACE!
Count Chocula...
Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry, led by the evil General Mills (played by Ed Harris).
Have his ultimate villian be Robin, and a fellow acrobat played by Denise Richards.
Superman...they should fast forward to the time when batman was old, the world was under marshall law ruled by superman and batman puts on the super suit fueled by kryptonite and kicks superman's rear. I cant remember the name of the graphic novel but that was always my favorite batman villain...superman the alien that took away freedom of choice from the self destructive human race. Its very relevant in a world in which runaway climate change, war, greed and corruption cuase so much pain and suffering. we need a superman to take over and a Batman to remind us that though we can be either good or evil it is our right to choose that makes us human.
that would be the penultimate Graphic Novel of all time: The Dark Knight Returns. You cannot make that into a movie since the Batman and Superman licensing is still owned by 2 different companies (movie wise) and no partnership or team up is remotely possible form a legal standpoint.
David Tennant as the Riddler!!!!!!!
BANE with Two face and joker impersonators all over the city.....HARVEY DENT>>>>>CAN HE BE TRUSTED?
How about Aunt Harriet. She always seemed a bit off in the TV show..
I know this smacks of blasphemy and certainly by no means ANY disrespect to Heath Ledger... however, as much as I thought Heath Ledger was the quintessential Joker... the Joker WAS Batman's arch enemy. Is there not someone that could play the Joker (maybe not as well as Heath Ledger) in this "last" of the series well enough to be credible, given a great script? OK... shoot the flames at me. I won't read them anyway
No flames here – The Joker was always Batman's other half. As a huge Michael Emerson fan, I think he might have enough of a following to be considered to reprise Joker. He certainly has the talent.
I would love to see The Penguin in the next film...could be played by Dick Cheney?
The name is pretty 'meh.'
Cant wait for this movie I hope bane is the bad guy
Rising? Really? A bit sunny don't you think, for Bats? Sounds more like a Supes story, or wait, hello, "Black Canary Rising" anyone?
Holy peanut butter and jelly Mr director ! This could be a real jam you're getting us into. the list is endless. Perhaps introduce a new archvillan. A schizo from an alternate reality- Holy time Warp!
I think they should really pull out all the stops. Like introducing Robin, and Batwoman, maybe played by Chris O'donnell and Alicia Silverstone. That really worked 15 years ago!
In all seriousness, I think Ed Norton as The Riddler would be pretty cool. No matter what Nolan does in the 3rd, no villain is going to top Heath Ledger's Joker
EGGHEAD – too bad Vincent Price is dead – this villian would be EGGactly what the franchise needs!
Great plot thinking G, I'm with you on that one. If this Batman movie comes out, and Bane isn't in it.. I'm not even going to watch it, I'll wait for it to play on TV. Sorry, I just can't go on watching another Batman movie that doesn't beat the living crap out of him somehow.. I'm tired of watching him win fight after fight. Let him get wupped man.
just like Superman – the only way the franchise will survive will be to never have Lex Luthor as the villian. Too many times, boring, don't care. Way too many other things for the Bat (and Superman) to deal with in a movie..
Johnny Depp as The Riddler!!!
Nolan's reboot has been so well done. To now hear that he intends to wrap it up with a 3rd and final film when there is so much potential and the primary (Bale) hasn't aged out yet, means that someone else will come along and ruin the work that Nolan has done.
How about Corporate America–the large corporations controlling our government? The Caped Crusader will end corporatocracy and bring back democracy.
Villains ? Hmmm....
Black Mask, Killer Croc, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Clayface or Bane would be good choices.
HOLY BAJOLY BATMAN!!!!
I'm SOOOO happy its NOLAN, but not even Nolan's direction can top what Ledger did in the last movie.
Here's an intresting twist for the final episode. Bring back all the forgotten superheros in sinsiter and evil ways, Aquaman, Electrawoman and Dynagirl & Shazam. Have them go at it. Bring in the whole litigation issue of Batman being sued for harassment years ago and blow up the US Supreme Court building. Put Scrappy Doo on the plunger and have them all drive away victrous in the Wonderful Wonder Bug only to be stopped by Barney the Dinosaur rising from the ashes of a local garbage dump. Finally complete the circle of life wife Mufasas wearing Batmans cape while roaring loudly on prie rock. Yeah, thats a good ending to Batman! For good measure, have Chewbacca standing in the background talking on a cell phone.
Definitely should be catwoman. Would love to see some young hottie transform into a lethal seductress. ME-YOWWW!!
If this will be in fact the last one, Bane will be the best choice. If you never followed Batman then you will not understand. Bane is smart (figured out who Batman was), extremely strong and is Batman's worst enemy (broke Batman's back). Two-face could be added (while he is recovering) perhaps as the guy who hires Bane to get rid of Batman. Or a new twist Batman vs Predator, if you have read the comic books, it would be a great movie; def dark and lots of fighting, if they go this route they can add Superman at the end to ask Batman to start/join JL...
Next villian – Obama as ...... himself. Deranged on destroying the world. Oh wait. It isn't a movie. It is happening already. Someone light the Bat sign now!!!!!!!
Viggo Mortensen or Randy Quaid (if he's not in jail already)
I honestly would like so see bane in the next movie. Redo him into a more believable character like an elite mercenary with a steroid abuse problem. And bring in harley quinn, but reinvent her in sort of the same way you reinvented the joker, a cynical terrorist with a crazy side and a messed up sense of humor. Even poisen ivy could be included, but instead of giving her super powers, make her an extreme ecoterrorist with a knack for bioweapons and plant toxins.
bane is definetly the character i want so see the most in the next movie, especially with his awesome accent
How about Robin Williams as the Riddler... he can play some F'd-up characters (like in Photoshop).
Bane doesn't have to be sci-fi man.. he could be a drug enhanced psychopath with advanced weaponry the same that Batman uses. Armor, guns, brute force combined with intelligence. Just under the influence of the Penguin who of course, is a Billionaire and wrenches Bain to do his dirty work. Doesn't have to be "exactly" like the comics.
AGREED....... I feel that Two Face / Harvey Dent's character can be included in this next movie, as the last one left him a little up in the air on how he'd go – good/evil... I also feel that if the Riddler was a villian option, that they cast Johnny Depp for sure! He would nail this role! Then add some of the other villians in there that haven't been in the re-make movies of the past; but the actual TV series from back in the day!
I like the name, but maybe it should have been a BIT different from The Dark Knight? So it could be more original.
And why not Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin???? That would be awesome!
What about if Batman's rival is himself. Like when Superman battles Bizzaro...
Bane would also be a good one because he is suppose to have superior intelligence.
There is only one modern day Catwoman, Halle Berry fool! LOL
The Mad Hatter and the Penguin should be looked at. Jervis Tetch is a facinating character and Nolan would give a much better treatnment to the Penguin than the last film that featured him
YES! I really didn't want to see another movie with the Riddler in it. It's time to introduce non-comic book readers to some more Batman villains! My choices would be either Hush or Black Mask. Both could easily fit into the Nolanverse, (though Hush's back story might need to be tweaked.) and could play up the mob aspect. I also really want to see Catwoman, but only if she's like the comics Catwoman. Her character has so much depth, and the movies just haven't done her justice. Plus, Catwoman ties in with Hush and Black Mask really well.
SCARECROW
There are so many villains it'd be tough to choose. I'd like to see Clayface (shapechanging version) or Killer Croc; either of these would be legitimate foes and could be well adapted- Clayface could mimic anybody and would evoke paranoia if handled properly. Croc could be both vicious and a pathos figure due to his skin condition, freakish appearance, and background.
But Catwoman is passe- been there and done that once too many. The Penguin? Same thing.
Hahahahaha Spoiler Alert...
The movie was almost 3 years ago and the idiot writes SPOILER ALERT.
As far as I am concerned the Dark Knight wrapped up the Story line just as Batman Begins. Each movie can hold it's on so they don't need a sequel.
Soooo, if you can get past the fact that Maroni was dropped of the side of a building, breaks his legs then standing perfectly fine later in the movie. The fact that the funniest scene was a clown faced terrorist blowing up a hospital. Also he get's away with everything including and no one but one Batman can stop him.
If you can get past the fantasy land that Batman literally destroys a LOT of privately owned vehicles and property with missiles and just crushing with his tank. Insurance in Gothem must be really high.
Either way, you can Mr. Hankey the turd as a villain as long as there are a lot of explosions and you people would pay tickets. Especially if it's in 3D.
How many people did Wolverine kill in XMen United and he was never prosecuted?
Since Nolan actually focuses on Story as much as everything else in his films, villains with a good background would be nice to see. and since these films have a dark/sinister side to them, someone who's mentally and emotionally unstable, rather than just plain evil or criminal (like Black mask).
We know 2face is going to be in there...definately an emotional conflict of his own.
I'd like to see Francis Grey, have a time altering plot.....
Or for a good emotional plot line, Clayface
Manbat – Dr Langstrom...the one, like 2 face, that batman is always trying to save rather than fight.
Toymaker was kinda creepy, as well as The Ventriloquist/Scarface. good side characters (like Scarecrow)
I think they need to do something with two face because they created two face in the dark knight
AGREED..... Two Face/Harvey Dent seemed as if his character could continue into this next movie. I also feel that Johnny Depp would be an EXCELLENT Riddler if the Riddler in fact would be brought back. Maybe even add in Robin & Catwoman too..... but I could definetly forsee Johnny Depp as the Riddler!
NO to Megan Fox or Jessica Biel for the catwoman role... both of them would ruin the movie.... how about Ellen Page, or Christina Ricci, or even Winona Ryder.... maybe keira knightly?
I love the Harley Quinn idea or the Penguin played by philip seymour hoffman... I have always thought he should play that role...
A lot of people thinking Catwoman would be a good villian. My casting choice if this role was up for grabs would be Zoe Saldana.
A FBI agent is brought in by Gotham police to hunt down Batman. In her ambition to nail down the "cop & DA killing" Batman, she turns to criminal sources and partners with a powerful, but corrupt lawyer. The lawyer has a hidden agenda to destroy Wayne enterprises. Together they discover Bruce Wayne is Batman, and FBI agent realizes she has crossed the line and has become a pawn as the mysterious lawyer plots to destroy not only Batman, but the entire world of Bruce Wayne as well... Catwoman + Riddler (yeah, just a plot idea)
Killer Crock. Stallone fits the part. You don't even need make-up.
Enough with the lame villians already. I mean the Riddler? Please! Batman needs to have a villian that is capable of bringing real fear to the entire world. Too bad they used the Ra's al Ghul card in the first movie. Now there is a villian that actually means something. The one knoeck against Batman is that his universe too often resolves around minor characters of only local importance (aka th Joker, Riddler, Penguin). They are in many ways laughable enemies. Yes Heath did a great job but the Joker and Ra's are the only realy arch enemies of any real significance. The rest are jokes.
Tommy G, an expert at what? Reading comic books?
finally. i hope that it is a good movie and thanks to the creators! :>)
Catwoman would be awesome and she played a hug part in the comics- just so they don't get Halle Berry and make it lame. That movie seriously gave catwoman a bad name!
Hollywood blew it the first time around. After giving Jack Nicholson Joker, they really should have given Eastwood the Riddler. Eastwood plays psycho-killer/cop quite well. Now he's too old.
I think the movies truly need catwoman, maybe not as a main bad guy, but just to throw Batman off, like she ALWAYS does. Maybe Harley Quin and a new Joker for a true 'cat fight'
I seem to be the only one thinking of this however it seems so blatenly obvious. You can bring in villans like the Riddler and catwoman, or mr freeze, but none of them seem to capture the essence of Batman. Clearly the joker was the best villan ever in The Dark Knight, so lets not shy away from that. Can anyone guess who could fill the shoes that Heath Ledger left? Thats right. Jack Nicholson. It wouldnt been tough to write him back in it. Maybe as the father of the new Joker or whatever they could come up with. You have to have that it factor as well as the smile and laugh the joker posseses, and no one has it better than good old jack. Come on Chris, go out with a bang to your amazing Trilogy and make this happen. I think many Batman fans would love to see him back in a purple suit with the crazy smile and eerie laugh that made the joker what he is today.
Jim Carey as the Riddle again would be the ultimate choice ! !
Jim Carey as the Riddler was awesome.
Two Face.
Since batman is on the run at this point it would make a little sense to include BANE just as a hired assassin to kill/capture batman
How about Kevin James as King Tut?
How about King Tut or the Mad Hatter?
I really think they need to make two face the next villain. He was introduced in the first movie and now he should come to power and battle batman in the dark night rises. Tommy Lee Jones did very well playing two face in batman forever.
Man Bat...could be a very dark character with new dark ideas.
Since Nolan has taken Batman on a realistic portrayal (well as realistic as you can get with comics), I would say the only "realistic" rogue villains that are left are The Riddler, The Penguin (the corrupt billionaire) The Ventriloquist, Black Mask, Red Hood. Mr Freeze, Killer Croc and even Bane are too sci-fi. Ex: Joker was portrayed as a physcofrenic terrorist. The Riddler can be portrayed as a narcissistic murderer or basic thief; The Penguin can be portrayed as a corrupt billionaire/political figure trying to take down the Batman's vigilante run etc. Just some thoughts. Mr. Nolan, hire me to write the next Batman and Superman movies. I am an expert.
I'd personally like to see the Penguin
After reviewing the rogue list,I pick three; Manbat,Killer Croc, and Bane
Although they could always do Composite Superman
Maybe the evil-doers will be Katy Perry's jugs and I have to battle them...oops wrong movie
i saw throw SPAWN in as batmans right hand man, and throw poison ivy, and the black spider
How about H.A.R.D.A.C. (Holographic Analytical Reciprocating DigitAl Computer), an artificial intelligence. Fits with curent tech...
Catwoman played by Helena Bonham Carter.
I might have said yes back in the Fight Club days, now I'm not so sure with all the Tim Burton stuff she's been doing. She could make it cheesy.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman is actually a possibility as Penguin. That is the word on the Streets.
Bring back Jack. He is the greatest Joker!
Finally, someone else who clearly knows what they are talking about. Anything short of jack will be portrayed as a feable attempt to establish another great villan in the movie which clearly the joker has already done. Not to mention they will have to do something since he was left hanging upside down from the building. Can you imagine the trailers for the new movie, opening with a dark rainy scene and a faint laugh in the distance slowly getting louder until ultimately the realization that he is back; Jack! All these other villans would never compare to a comeback of jack! Chris hear our cries and make this happen! We are rooting for ya!
Catwoman has to be intense as well as beautiful – I would suggest Keira Knightley to be Catwoman.
Purely speculative, but it would be awesome if Kate Beckinsale played Catwoman. After all she's already slated to do the fourth Underworld installment, and being Catwoman would certainly draw a large audience back to the Underworld franchise. Is Christian Bale still playing Batman? I can't imagine Nolan doing a trilogy without the same Batman all the way through? As far as other villains (after all, you can have more than one), why not team Catwoman with TwoFace and a very dark version of Riddler?
I think Batman's next villain's should be the U.S Government and their partners in crime, the major corporations. Take 'em down Batman!
guess you guys are out of the loop. Tom Hardy already got cast as the main antagonist to Batman. Most likely will play either Harvey Bullock, Black Mask, or Hugo Strange judging by his type.
If that's true, I give up and the movie might suck. I should of wrote it, and directed it.
I'd rather like to see Angelina Jolie as Catwoman. Because... well, meow.
This would be great. Everywhere she went she would be followed by Bat Kittens from other countries & galaxies
Batman needs wupped.. straight up get beat down.. make him seek help out. Find Robin, who is the best in his class, I agree with Adam, top notch martial artist. Catwoman, doin' devious things in the background, neutral, not taking sides, in it for her own benefit. The villain.. Penguin can't rock the house too much, put him in the movie, but have Bain under his control. Bain is the one man.. make him sick powerful.
I nominate the Penguin. It seems logical that the Penguin - a mobster and a "gentleman of crime" - would take over the former territory of Falcone and Maroni. If this were a two-villain movie like the first two, I would also nominate the Mad Hatter...or Harley Quinn, if Nolan wants to wrap up the Joker storyline.
It will be about Harvey Two face and be called The Batman Rises.
I think we can all agree that everyone is stoked about this film. These are the BEST comic-based films ever.
That said, IF they brought back the Joker, Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be a good fit. Take a close look at him...he's like a skinnier Heath Ledger. Same mannerisms, same facial expressions, same eyes...they could pass as brothers. If he bulked up a bit he'd easily be the best choice.
Personally though, I doubt they'll bring the Joker back, especially if this is going to be the last film of this particular vision of Batman. That plot-line has run its course, if they want to leave it alone.
I think they should go with Bane or Solomon Grundy as the villain
Who is playing Batman? Our current star has a personality like Batman. Who would play Catwoman? Halle? Salma? Bullock?
What will the new Batmobile look like?
Can't wait to see!!!!!!!!!
Halle Berry ruined Catwoman in her own movie. I love Halle Berry but she is not suited for the role. Sandra Bullock is too old and not "slinky" enough. Again, the woman is great she's just not right. Same with Salma Hayek. If we are going with known actresses I would rather see Kate Beckinsale in the role. Or perhaps Emma Stone.
if there's a really hot catwoman it will be the biggest movie of all time... what's that girls name from underworld she should play the part
boo to female roles....it's an action movie...as for villian...i agree with earlier comments that the red hood (as an evil robin) would be amazizng also with the black mask
Oh, Oh, Oh, wait, no...........how about Sponge Bob covered in Tatt's driving a 2012 Transformer bread truck ?
How about Kelsey Grammer as "King Tut"... he was played by Victor Buono in the campy 60s TV series. I think he could do a darker roll and still pull something out of the character from the old series.
first of all, the hype of batman has wound down bad. people are not even thinking about batman. too many other movies have come out. it would need an extra something to really get it moving. perhaps dual villains and the intro of robin. but this time NO WUSS ROBIN. gotta be someone who is really into martial arts or is very athletic and can pull off the demeanor of an ass-kicking superhero. oh, and gotta see the Bat Jet. that would friggin rock. oh, and a part for a bald-headed guy from Texas would be great
Gotta be Catwoman. The trilogy will be incomplete without her in there somewhere.
Bane
yea kate beckinsale would make a great catwoman
I want to see the Penguin return in a style similar to Batman Returns – a psychotic gang leader with unexpected savvy.
Two-face hasn't been ruled out. They never said before he actually "died" so who knows, wouldn't surprise me if he's involved somehow
I think the a possible villian should be "Egghead". He's 1 of the villians that has not been seen in any of the Batman movies. I think that will be "Eggsellent" LOL He wasn't as popular as the Joker, Penquin, Catwoman, or Riddler, but I think he should get some sort of props in the next movie.
Robin has to be adopted at some point.. maybe not as his full fledged sidekick, but maybe as an uncostumed assistant on the inside working to help him, because Batman had to seek help from someone at some point. Just like he did with Morgan Freeman in the first movie. I also agree, need a female in there doing devious things.. gotta love that part
.. and thirdly.. the villain needs to be so powerful, so independent, that it makes you fear for Batman's life. Now you have your movie.
I nominate "Penguin" as the villain.
I think it's time, for once, for writer's to use their own imagination. Please be the first writer to make up YOUR OWN Villain. Quit riding coat-tails of the past. Surprise everyone with a new Villian. If you can't think of one, get Stephen King....he will.
How about CLAY FACE or BAIN, the computer graphics would be intense. I agree one villian is good enough, but if you must have two, use Catwoman munipulating either CLAY FACE or BAIN to do her bidding.
I would say Talia Al Gaul, Killer Croc, and Clayface would make great villains for the final movie
Johnny Depp as the Riddler
Looking forward to the next movie! Since you are asking for suggestions; and since this is the last of the triliogy lets go with 3 villians & keep them popular. The Penguin, The Riddler & Cat Woman. For Batman lets introduce Robin to help him out in the end. One final suggestion; at the end of the movie leave everyone hanging, have Batman approched by a mystery person (Maybe Clark Kent aka Superman) asking him for help to battle a new foe?
BANE!
Super Strong.
Super Smart.
Great villian and great story (breaking the bat)
I like the king tut idea...lol
Johnny Depp or Leo would be a good Riddler
Harley Quinn
we need more female roles.
She would be some amazing cinamatogrophy. Maybe they could use one of he ladies from Circ de solae? I think it would be quite visually stimulating.
You would have the flowery role of Harley Quinn then add in some bad ass role like croc. I think it would be a nice balance.
Only three batman movies from Christopher Nolan? He has perfected the darkness of Batman, his talent in this type action film is yet to be fully appreciated. I think he should do many more, become the equal of George Lucas (Star Wars).
Quinton T should play the Joker or/ and the Riddler!
First of all, if the name of the film is in fact going to be used, it doesn't syncronize itself with the last of the series.. Batman Rises? .. That should of been the first one. So, let's change the name first shall we...
Secondly, the character that he faces should end his series.. take him from what he is now, to a regular man, or die. That would end the series. Who could kill Batman..? .. Think, who could kill Superman, and you will have your character. If you twist the plot completely, and bring in a no-name villain, you will probably dissappoint most old-school Batman comics readers.
I dont think Two Face is actually out. My take on his "death" in the movie was not that the man died, but that his persona, Harvey Dent, the White Knight, died. Notice it said "He will be remembered as a hero.." Not, "He died as a hero.." I think that what the movie really implied was that Harvey Dent as the White Knight of Gotham proverbially died and all that is left is the broken shambles of a man, Two Face.
With that being said, the idea of Two Face shouldnt be discounted.
Obama will be the next villain.
What about two-face?
I nominate Congress.
I think the Phantasm, from the cartoon Batman Mask of the Phantasm would be pretty sweet
That would be good. What about Batman vs. Dracula. The cartoon movie is really good. I just bought it last week and have looked at it twice.
Whomever Bats fights he should need assistance from Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern , The Flash and Hawkgirl roll them over introducing them for their own movies... but have a better part than just a cameo like Marvel does.
Villain-wise Solomon Grundy, Gorilla Grod, Giganta, Catwoman... hell make it a Legion of Doom hence why he needs assistance from the Justice League.
Batmans cool. The new Batman was really well.... blah blah blah, blah blah. How about some new stories HW! Use your imagination and write. Do your fu–ing jobs!
More importantly, Why are there only going to be three movies?
Zach Galifianakis as King Tut.
Calendar man should be the "crazy lunatic" that is causing problems upfront (serial killer on the news making everyone afraid guy), while catwoman can be the shadowy behind the scenes villain that is inadvertently interfering with batman's hunt of calendar man.
That would be a good combo to keep the darkness of the series, while introducing one of the more popular villains. However, even if they don't use calendar man, for certain catwoman will be in it.
Toni Collette as Catwoman and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin. I'd camp out overnight to see that.
PLEASE, NO JOHNNY DEPP! He only plays himself and I wouldn’t want him ruining Batman like he did Alice in Wonderland.
Thanks!
Is this a sequel to 2008's "The Dark Clown Rises"?
Dick Cheney as the Penguin.
The Dark Knight vs. Knight Rider – get rid of the Hoff once and for all
The villian for the next Batman movie should be........Batman. It's in line with Nolan's sensibilities and his take on vigilantism.
Batman Vs K.A.R.R. That would be Awesome...
I dont care who the bad guy is, as long as they ONLY HAVE 1
Seems the rest of these and other super hero movies insist on having multiple bad guys, and those movies sucked (iron man 2, spider man 3 for example) and as good as the last one was I did not think the two face character was necessary
mmmmm Christina Hendricks
Batmans cape is not very motorcycle friendly.
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Couldn't say who for Harley, but would love to see Christina Hendricks as Nolan's Ivy.
I've always liked the idea of phillip seymour hoffman playing a batman villain. He was an outstanding villain in a less than outstanding Mission Impossible III
There are an awful lot of 'goofy' characters in the Batman universe. Hopefully the Nolan borthers have the good sense to avoid them (they have so far). Batman is a dark, somber character, so I'd like to see a malevolent take on the Penguin. But, please, no Robin! As soon as he was introduced into the older movies series the whole thing started to spiral out off control
I'd like to see Joan Rivers as The Joker. Serious adult diaper criminal mastermind.
Batman has seen better days. Christian Bale could not be more of a bland actor. Thank God for the first and best (not forgetting the legendary Adam West) Batman Michael Keaton.
OH MY GOD. You cannot seriously believe that Mr. Stiff, aka Michael Keaton, was even a GOOD Batman/Bruce Wayne, let alone the best. He walked around in that suit like Robocop, and was incredibly dull and faux-brooding in the two Burton Batman films. Christian Bale has the charm and depth to play Bruce Wayne, and he has the intimidating physicality and agility to play Batman. He's been the best choice they could have made for the character. Nolan has been right on the money all along (with the exception of Katie Holmes, which was more of a marketing decision than a casting one) as far as his casting.
I hope he fights that hot little asian girl from Harry Potter, Cho, who betrayed the students under the influence of the truth potion. Id like to interrogate her for a few hours myself.
Let's go for broke. James Gandolfini for Grodd
LMFAO!!
This is the best, albeit least likely suggestion of the bunch. Get it? Bunch.
Eminem as the Riddler.
I think George Bush should be the villian
Leonardo DiCaprio as the Riddler! Nolan has a habit of working with the same talented actors, and DiCaprio was great in Inception. His Riddler may be a close match for Ledger's Joker.
Leo would be a good choice!!
I agree Leo deserves a spot in this movie and I thought the same thing after watching Inception (Nolan will probably work with Leo in the next Batman).
But I think Leo would be better suited to play Bane than the Riddler.
We already had the Joker in the last one. Riddler would be too familiar.
I say Leo DiCaprio as Bane.
So sorry but the name of the movie needs o be changed to the Dark Knight Returns the rises is just not what gives any kind of lead in with the way in which the last one ended and to suggest that he was in some way down and out or dead and buried is all that comes out of the the Dark Knight Rises
Now as far as Villains goes I personally think that this is the time to bring in one of the least know and not yet used villains along with one or two of the past to come up with a group of villains that have decided to band together to fight the Dark knight.much the same way that we had both the penguin and catwoman /and Face and the Riddler in the other two movies these types of reunions bring out some good old villain and hero interaction
How about Batman and Green Hornet vs a collage of villans including some real life villians like the taliban and other extremists groups
Anything with "the final chapter" would have been great. End it already.
Here are some good ones from Batman's past;
Crazy-Quilt
Orca
Jackanapes
Composite Superman
It's too bad he said it would be a trilogy. Harley Quinn would be fantastic in this version of Gotham, but may be a bit too much of a repeat of the last movie. Catwoman seems like the obvious choice.
Why not superman?
There is only one actor who can portray the Joker's lunacy as well as or better than Heath Ledger: Johnny Depp.
I agree but he wouldnt physically fit the role. IMO
Christian Slater
Michael Emerson as a sociopathic, serial-killer riddler. Golden!
How about a Clark Kent cameo. Clark walks up to interview Bruce Wayne in some press conference setting, starts his question and interrupts with "WHOA nice suit" (or more casual 'hey, nice suit) then carries on with the one question. The joke being that Clark is Superman, and Bruce has some portion of his Batman armor under a nice suit. No follow up joke, no battle together. Maybe some very small 'super scene'.
Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Ventriliquist.
Vin Diesel or Dwayne Johnson...Killer Croc
GREAT choice on Croc! Vin Diesel would so fit the role!
The last movie sucked so bad, I'm not sure why they would bother with a sequel.
Had heard they are going to be filming this one in New Orleans. Has anyone else heard this?
JOHNNY DEPP as the Riddler!
Christian Bale as Batman takes me out of these movies with his stupid gravely, whisper acting. He even talks like that in front of people who know he's Wayne. WHY?!
Oh, and how about Bill Hader as Egg Head. He does a great Vincent Price impression.
The Ventriloquist would be cool
I like to see some new bad guys like
The Mad hatter
Solomon Grundy
Flamingo
big top
Simon Hurtand Black Glove maybe in the dark night
Copperhead
The Crimson Knight
fire bug
Onomatopoeia
I like Grundy...how much darker can you get than a zombie...at least bring him on as a supporting villian.
OMG THE BLACK HAND WOULD BE SUPER COOL
I agree with the Black Hand and Solomon Grundy. Gotta disagree with cheefs on the Black Hand, 'cause unless they use the Blackest Night incarnation it would suck.
I meant that the Black GLOVE would be good. Still think Black Hand is a bad idea. Anyway, he's a Green Lantern villain.
he can battle betty boop
I would love to see Harley, really she doesn't get enough attention. but with her you would probably have to bring one of the other villianess'. though i don't see that being a problem with any guy(or gal) i know.
George W. Bush and his fat sidekick Dick Cheney as The Penguin!!
I would like to see DeathStroke as the next villian since he is relevant in the current Batman story line.
Deathstroke the Terminator! Would you have Ron Perlman play him?
Catwoman!! DUH!!
My top pics for villians are Bain, Hush, Dead Shot and Hugo Strange..in that order.
You need a Brains and a brawn (I use the term loosely), just like the last 2 movies... I'd say The Penguin or Mad Hatter using Killer Croc, Bane or Poison Ivy as their Flunky. They could always spring Scarecrow from the Asylum as well.
Mad Hatter starring Tim Roth
YES!
I dont buy it at all. This is probably a fake name theyll use until they actually start marketing the movie.
Joseph Gordon Levitt or Jude Law as the Riddler would have been awesome.
Hello!! Two Face People.
Hello!! Died at the end of the second movie!
The new villain will be Hush. Just research the character and you can tell his story melds well with Nolan's vision of Batman. And it transitions well into the dark, corrupt Gotham City that we have seen. Also his history with Bruce Wayne makes him the anti Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also according to the history he knows Bruce's secret which makes him a prime candidate to hunt down batman. He also has a background with Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow whose story can still play a role.
If not it can be Harley Quinn. Or Hugo Strange but I would like to see Hush or Harley Quinn but Hush would be more interesting.
Yes, I'm pulling for Hush as well. Again, the mainstream don't know him, but it truly would be one of the best Batman films made if they did that story.
Also consider... if Batman is considered a wanted criminal at the end the Dark Knight, it would be a good time for someone else to impersonate him and commit more crimes... Hush is the perfect character for that.
I just hope Batman doesn't sound like The Cookie Monster in this one.
So right Tony. I hated how Bale would try to disguise his voice. The cookie monster reference is priceless.
Definitely going to be Catwoman. When Batman was getting his armor altered, Lucius Fox says that it can stop cats. And to all those that think Two-face is dead, remember when Carloni was hanging from 4 stories up and he says that this can't kill him, it will just break his legs...Food for thought. It wasn't much higher. They mock-buried Harvey Dent (Closed Casket with no body inside) because only three people know that Harvey Dent became Two face (Commissioner Gordon, the Joker and Batman) Everyone else has died.
Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins. and the red hood. they can work into the story Dumfrey and Deever Tweed may be beiing clas mates of the original joker. They then can form a club of villans. and enlist cyber cat a new type of cat woman and get the original cat woman who is in an home for the insane to come out to play.
Uh... He was dropped from a 2nd floor fire escape. It was a pretty high one but second floor none the less. Dent fell from around 10 stories if not more. No comparison and he is dead.
Bain.
reason it out...
the re-booted franchise has at least attempted to come across as based in the realms of possibilities.
Science can pump a 3rd rate washed up wrestler into a vein popping, pshchotic, no pain feeling steriod freak add some weapons and you'd have a formidable yet believable character.
Clayfaces...
It need to filter into a Justice League movie like Marvel did with Iron Man and the Avengers. Get Brandon Routh as Superman and Ryan Reynolds as GL in the movie and get is done already.
lets just settle the DC/Marvel argument and have a JL/Avengers movie. I keed I keed, all I really want is a Tranformers movie that isn't crap.
LOLOLOL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE IS LIKE 1 BAJILLION TIMES BIGGER THAN THE AVENGERS
Granted. add to that Superman counts as 10 Avengers at least...you'd have to take the top guys....which would make for pages of arguments there.
They should introduce Terry McGuiness the future Batman from Batman Beyond! I would love to see Killer Croc or Bain in this film.
Batman vs. Predator v. Alien:
Super villain Ma Barker!
How about
Dark Knight sees light
Dark Knight strikes back
Return of the Dark Knight
Calendar Man or Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (then he'll have to hire two roles)
Deadshot, Solomon Grundy, Killer Croc or Bane would all make for good enemies
Deadshot was who I immediately thought of. He could go after the Gotham bankers. Then again, some might not consider him a villian for that.
Please don't make this a money grabber!!! take the time and do it right...make it as dark and psychological as possible...Batman is not always about action scenes. The guy (Batman) is a vigilante with homicidal tendencies. You can't make this guy Superman...his psyche and character is a flawed type of neutral justice w/possible schizoprenic issues. C'mon Nolan, this is the last one...no moral lessons here (like the last one)...just give us a great film. I want to remember the last one like i remembered the first...
LOL WHEN DID BATMAN EVER KILL ANY BODY HE IS AGAINST KILLING WHITCH IS WHY HE DIDNT KILL THE JOKER AT THE END OF THE MOVIE ARE YOU SURE YOUR NOT READING THE PUNISHER AND THINKING ITS BRUCE WAYNE
Um, what Batman comic are you reading? Batman is first and foremost a detective, that takes up the mantle of a bat to scare criminals who he says, "is a cowardly lot." This homicidal Batman that everyone seems to think exists comes from only Tim Burton's non-comic reading butt. Batman doesn't have a problem with right and wrong, hence the reason he doesn't kill. Yes, he will beat you to a bloody pulp, but people do that on cage fighting all the time, and no one has died yet. Have you ever danced with the Devil by the pale moonlight?! Serious!? Is the best line that they could come up with? Seriously!? Please, read a real Batman comic and stop with the Tim Burton version of Batman.
The best villian would HUSH. A real mystery for the THE DETECTIVE to figure out. Who is HUSH?
I believe he was referring to Frank Miller's work, where Batman actually killed the joker.
@:/ if you are referring to the dark knight returns, bats only breaks jokers neck enough to cripple him, then joker breaks his own neck to frame bats for murder
People please stop with the Joker, they will not try and replace Heath that quick and since Batman has so many other enemies to choose from why would they just make the same movie over again.
How about Bin Laden as the bad guy?
Call him the Crimson Jihad!
How about Prsident Obama as the bad guy?
Why not Superman
Batman: The Dark Knight returns type of story line would be AWESOME! Hence SuperMan would be an unbelievable cameo. Best Batman story line ever.
Robin Williams as the riddler or joker. Both characters are somewhat similar in their use of humor and misdirection.
robin williams bad idea
i really wanted to see the riddler in this one, and to see Joseph Gordon Levitt in the role. I also thought that Jim Parsons (Dr. Sheldon Cooper) would be good in the role. But what about the mad hatter or the ventriloquist?
David Tennant as Edward Nigma, and Willem Dafoe as Zasz was a great idea!
Joaquin Phoenix as anybody!!
Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus. I can live with that.
Azrael maybe with Talia Al Gul pulling his strings to get back at The Dark Knight for the "death" of her father......or any of Batman's rogue's gallery. I don't think these creators can go wrong with this project.
That's an idea with potential.
It should be "Rise of the Dark Knight", that seems more correct to me....
They set the stage for Two-Face to be the big villain in the new one. It fits with the isotope of the Batman mythos that this new series is aligned with. If not this installment, then the next one. I'm hoping for serious Arkham Asylum-style madness.
I guess you did not see the end of the movie but Harvey Dent aka Two Face died.
He didn't die, it was only implied.
I guess them saying "He will be remembered as a Hero." doesnt clue you in.
I took the bit about him being remembered as a hero as a bit of irony that will be revealed later. I don't think they killed Dent, because it would be too big a departure from the original material. Two Face was a pretty major character in a few story arcs, and if they are loosely 'basing' this series off Frank Miller's work (which I believe they are) Dent will be back.
Um Edward Norton didn't like the editing on the Hulk... for good reason it made the movie garbage. It had a lot of potential, and he was going for realism... it was a hack job. horrible editing and directing.
Why not have Gotham police bring in Bane to hunt down Batman.
They should let Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma, Alpha Dogs) play the Joker. He has a similar look build and voice as Heath. Also, he plays crazy better than just about anyone in Hollywood.
BEN FOSTER!!!!! I COULD NOT AGREE WITH ANYONE MORE !!!!!!!!!!! GOOD CALL AD
Why not Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy to reprise the Joker role. Same build and hair as Heath.
Return of Raj al Gul and appearance of Talia!!!! Catwoman is awesome too but don't make her stupid this time.
Excellent idea Ras and Talia, having Bane as one of Ghul's henchmen.
Ras and Talia would be amazing. Ras was always an interest foe for Batman, and doesn't die. We would get Liam Neisan back, and a good love interest for Batman.
What about the Penguin?
It should be Catwoman. Betty White could play her.
I would love to see Catwoman & the Pengin. The Penguin would be great played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman or James Gandolfini. Catwoman would be great with Megan Fox or Jessica Biel.
James Gandolfini are you crazy the Penguin is like 4ft tall.
ya maybe if gandolfini isnt available they could get shaq
The clock king, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, the Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, Clay Face, Catwoman, or they can Introduce the Joker's gal pal Harley Quin. My money is on the the villian that nearly killed him in the comics, Bane.
Bane the south american super merc that uses a chemical that boosts his strenght 10 fold. He is not a fool and usually works for the higest bidder. In the comics Bane broke batmans back. Then again there are no shortages of people in the D.C. Universe that wants to kill the bat. Perhaps we will see more then 1 villian. if this is to be the last part of the Nolan reboot, then we should see several villains vs the Bat.
Isnt Bain from Spain?
Agree 100% with Bane. Not only did he break Batman's back, but he did it in the Batcave AFTER he figured out who Batman really was.
No. He is from somewhere in South America. He was in a Brazilian prison, but he is no Brazilian as he speaks spanish, not Portuguese.
I stand corrected. I looked him up on wikibatman.
I agree that Bane should be in this movie. In the comics he killed the original Robin (Dick Greyson) and almost killed Batman. I would be pumped to see Bane in this movie. If only Brock Lesnar wasn't such a tool. He could play Bane, hands down.
Good call on Bane for an ending!
Nick, Dick Grayson is alive and well, all grown up as Knightwing. You may be thinking of Jason Todd (Robin #2), who the Joker killed in "A DEath In The Family."
Bane sounds awesome. I hadn't heard of him, looked him up on wiki. Bada$$
Catwoman! Anything less would be unacceptable.
Gator would be a good villian. Played by........Arnold!!!
ARE YOU MEANING KILLER CROC OR SOME VILLAIN I NEVER HEARD OF
i think he should fight boogar and they should call it batman vs. boogar...oprah-tyle shee...lol,jk,lmao,bff!!!
As long as they don't overdo it and make it 3 hours long, I'll be happy.
i think he should fight oprah and they should call it batman vs. oprah...boogar-style. hell yeah!
Jim Carrey, in a "serious" role, as the Joker. Who else is demented enough?
Johnny Depp or Joseph Gordon-Levitt
JOHNNY DEPP OR JOSEPH GORDON LEVTIZ (WHILE SUPERIOR ACTORS) WOULD MAKE TERRIBLE BATMAN VILLAINS AS BATMAN WOULD JUST SWOOP IN AND BEAT IN THERE FACES ALSO THEY PROBABLY DONT COMMIT CRIMES
sorry dude, Jim BLEW it when he messed up the Riddler in Batman Forever. horrible. and to all others, it's not like he checked Dent's pulse. Batman fell from just as high (kind of), regardless of "armor"...he may be alive.
The penguin played by Phillip Seymore Hoffman.
While unlikely, this is an interesting and potentially inspired proposition. Trying to have anyone else -even Johnny Depp – play an over-the-top character would simply set the stage for both the actor and the character to be overshadowed further by Ledger's Joker. Bearing this in mind, PSH as a brooding yet flippant and dismissive Penguin could work. The other characters in the Batman universe have been so grittily re-imagined that having PSH play the Penguin from this perspective could be as brilliant as Ledger was as Joker.
Most of you are the worst-spelling bunch of 3rd-grade dropouts I've read on a message thread. It's embarassing. Think before you type something, and then use logic and reason to support your ideas.
I can't wait for TDKR in whatever form it's made in. Nolan has the chance to make the greatest trilogy ever!
Old school-how about Clayface?
A Combination of all of the Clayface would be awesome. Jervis Tetch(Mad Hatter) or Poison Ivy might work as well
The Dark Knight makes clear that the next villain is going to be Two-Face. Duh!
Uh, two-face was Harvey Dent and he died in the last one
Two Face is Dead.
um...didn't he die at the end.......just sayin.
umm no...two face SPOILER...or harvey dent, dies in the dark knight, not sure if a dead body is gonna be the best villain, that might get boring after 2 and a half hours
Two Face? Did you miss the end of the other movie?
Have we not learned that NO comic character dies (including Batman), Captain America, Bucky, Joker, ad nauseum. Didn't the Joker die in the first Batman with Nicholson's face flattened at the bottom of the cathedral? Sheeshh.
YOU FAIL TO REALISE THAT THESE ARE TOO DIFFERENT BATMAN'S AND 2 DIFFERENT JOKERS I MEAN THEY MEAT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN BOTH MOVIES AND IN THE DARK KNIGHT CHRISTIAN BALE NEVER SAID OOOOOOOOH YEAH HE IS MAD LOL CUZ I DROPPED HIM OFF A BUILDING
Lets keep in mind that they covered up Dent's killings by blaming batman, and we never did see a body in the coffin, so who's to say they can't go on the fact that they covered that up while he is locked away somewhere hidden, and manages to escape?
For all you who think Harvey Dent died at the end of the Dark Knight, try this on, the memorial for Harvey at the end of the movie was a memorial for the death of the symbol he portrayed in Gotham "the shining light" not physically him. I believe he is still alive, just kept under wraps from the public. He will be back in the new movie.
I'd love to see Batman vs. Magnum PI and Higgins.
Why not Willem Dafoe as Victor Zsasz?
yo good call..there was a courtroom scene in Batman Begins where Zsasz is called out and they show a serial killer looking dude in an orange prison suit
Dark Knights in White Satin ????
I love your comment!
@Alan- yes yes... and Bruce Wayne has letters he's written... nevering meaning to send.
The Joker appearing in this movie is irrelevant. He's locked in an Arkham. The teaming of Harley Quinn and Catwoman would be epic but highly unlikely.
And "Rise of the Dark Knight" would have been better...but it's all good.
Yea, 'cause no one has ever escaped Arkham before...
I think Cheney would make an excellent Joker in the new Batman Movie, his grand kids are going to be so proud of him.
You mean the penguin.
I to loved these movies.... would love to see a collaboration effort between the numerous villans, or possibly a bridge into another superheros villans or city.... why limit batman to one city, one villan.... Look at what they are gonna do with iron man...its bridging to the avengers.... wow thats gonna be cool....
Batman is Gotham. The reason they wont lead into other movies is because the Justice League is Bigger than the avengers.
Actually Badger, it isn't because of size of the Avengers versus the size of the Justice League. The problem is studio politics. When they began making Batman and Superman movies, they were not thinking about a Justice League movies. Then they began to think about it, but realized that they would need to get a new set of actors if they were to do it. Fans were highly displeased with the idea. Therefore at this time it is not likely to happen. It is studio politics or business concerns that stand in the way.
Tom Hardy will be amazing in the movie
I would love to see them use Harlequin in this movie im sure they have enough footage of Heath Ledger's outstanding performance to make it seem like he is in the shadows while Harlequin carries out his plans.
She is really not a main line character and people would feel cheated and the studio would look cheap with doing that to Heath and the Joker character he made.
Harley Quinn would be awesome. Perhaps talking about her origins as a Arkum nurse treating the Joker. It's about time the character got some actual live-action sequences, not just cartoons or comics. But who would play it? Christina Ricci maybe?
Harley Quinn is the best Batman character not yet brought to film. But she's less malevolent than the Joker.
I think you bring her in as friends with Poison Ivy, and play up their relationship instead. Maybe Ivy goes too far, and the more fun-loving Harley turns on her.
I love the HArley Quinn Idea!!! VERY SMART!!
Harley Quinn would be great... but start the film with her as a nurse at Arkam, let us watch her crack. Let her speak of the Joker being in jail, etc. but let her run rampantly mad. She too is a very chaotic character. But who would play her best? Certain it would take the female equal of Heath Ledger, if such a person exist. Actresses, please stand up and act crazy so we can pick you from the crowd! No, No ... sit down Lady Gaga, you're a singer... sort'a.
Nobody would be better to play Harley Quinn than Pauley Perrette.
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ncis/cast/pauley-perrette/
@Joey: Word UP, that would be so freakin' sweet! Harley and Ivy all the way – heck, bring Catwoman into the picture, and make it a Gotham Girls rogues gallery! Poison Ivy is manipulating Harley into carrying out her evil people-killing plans, Catwoman is the cat burglar who stumbles onto the plan unwittingly, she and Batman decide to stop chasing each other long enough to take Ivy down, sparks fly, etc, etc. Could offer really interesting opportunities to talk about obsession as a theme...ie, for Harley, what's the difference between love and obsession...for Ivy, what's the difference between caring about a cause, and letting it warp and dominate you...for Catwoman, her obsession with thrill-seeking that keeps putting her on the wrong side of the law...and for Bruce, well – he's got obsessive tendencies out the batcave.
Love to see the Penguin, but not as a creeped out, comic, mutated freak like the cartoons and Devito's character. More of the crime boss working just below the radar, pulling the strings until there's a final confontation of some sort. They could work in another villain or two that way without the overkill we got in Spiderman 3 and the last Xmen flick.
With the new cgi, Clayface would look really cool.
If they bring in Robin I'm boycotting. I know that threat will keep Nolan up at night.
What will be done with the Joker?
Just create another one and paint the face even darker & sideways.
Heath was just one of many Jokers. Hire Brad Pitt, who cares?
Any word on a sinister, evil & dark rewrite of the Flintstones?
Heath Ledger was the greatest joker. Trying to replace him would be a huge mistake.
RIP Heath
No Heath WAs good but Jack was teh best easily.
Brad Pitt would fall flat...he just can't act, never could. Ed Norton would be the best as Joker, Depp would be good, though dull, or even Colin Farrell. Actually, Tim Roth would be at home in that role.
MARK HAMMIL WAS A BETTER JOKER THAN JACK AND ALL MARK HAMMIL HAD TO DO WAS VOICE ACT
The only reason people are so crazy about Heath Ledger is because he's dead. There are much better actors alive today.
Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Mark Hamill are all great Jokers, and the best in the realm of the Gotham universe their renditions represent.
Jack's was more of a throwback to the campy TV show, cheesily over-acted and whatnot. Mark's voice-acting is a great representation of the somewhat dark, maniacal, yet still comical Joker that has become most closely known as "The Joker." Heath's version is a serious, dark and mentally disturbed Joker that fits perfectly into the mood of this trilogy. To try and replace him with a version that's unlike his Joker would be unfitting and just outright ridiculous.
I say, if you're going to bring the Joker back, let Leo give it a try. He and Nolan have already worked together, and been successful. I think he'd do as good a job as anyone
THEY SHOULD USE THE RED HOOD OR THE BLACK MASK
I'm with you!!!!! Either would be great, a great intro with the Red Hood for future films, would also like to throw in Hush (Dr. Thomas Elliott, as well as flashback back stories), which would bring in so many other characters for future films. Hmmm...have to go with Black Mask, or have we seen enough of Two Faces facial internals already?
HUSH WOULDNT WORK BECAUSE THIS BATMAN UNIVERSE ISNT THAT WELL ESTABLISHED WELL AT LEAST NOT HOW IT WAS PRESENTED IN THE COMIC
Chris is a girl's name
How about not using all caps... that could work.
LOL YEAH I MUST BE YELLING CUZ IM TYPING IN CAPLOCK LOL NERD
You've been asked by many people many times to stop using caps. Whenever someone mentions this you start making fun and calling them nerds. You only come up with dumb things to say when there is a story on DC comics or comic book related movies. For someone who seems to have spent years reading (comics) you somehow still have problems with spelling, grammar and just getting your point across. Fix yourself.

LAME! I WAS HOPING FOR THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS
I know, I was too! There were so many rumors on the internet that it would be "The Dark Knight Returns"...oh well. As far as the villain, I too was hoping for the Riddler because Johnny Depp had said in an interview that he would gladly play the part. Whatever they decide to do, it'll be fantastic with Nolan at the wheel. Can't wait!!
Well, there is a "Batman Returns" Probably, Nolan dont want to relate his movie with THAT one...
This is why you'll never be trusted with any important decisions in your life.
"The Dark Knight Returns" and "Batman Returns" are no even in the same ballpark. The "Dark Knight Returns" is one of Frank Millers best pieces of work. It would have been wonderful to see on the big screen.
Two villians – ScarFace and The Mime (played by Marlee Matlin) Thanks for the opportunity for this response.
i think batman should fight ben,mr.freeze,penguin,theriddler,jokeragain,scarecrowagain.
I LOVED the Dark Knight movie. Christopher Nolan is on my favorite movie Directors ....he's just brilliant. I would like to see the Riddler played by Edward Norton in the next Batman movie.
http://thefashioncamp.com
I nominate calendar man for a villan
Too bad Milton Berle or Ethel Merman aren't still around to bring back Louie the Lilac or Lola Lasagna. Vincent Price back as Egghead would be Eeeeeeeeegggggggggcellent.
Brilliant suggestion! Ed Norton brings superhuman skill to all his work.
Hey I think it would be wild to see an evil side of Robin somehow play a part in the story, mixed in with a psycho Alfred the butler .. I kid somewhat.
Personally, I would like the final Nolan movie to include all Batman's major villains battling with him. A reprise to the big screen of the new/old Batman video game would be great.
The Hulk movie stunk. I have more respect for him if he "cried" about it than I would have if he had defended it.
i would love to see clayface, or bane, or even the peguine – so many to chose from.
I'm curious why not the Riddler. Johnny Depp would be awesome in that role. He seems to be the only person I can think of with a screen presence that could rival what Heath did as the Joker
@Chris: Sorry dude but Ledger as the Joker was simply amazing. His death has nothing to do with how iconic he made that role. I can watch the Dark Knight over and over again for one reason – and that's because Ledger stole the show!!!
I was hoping for the riddler, but Dr. Hugo Strange would be nice
ARE YOU SERIOUS SOMEONE MAD THAT I SAID ED NORTEN WINED ABOUT THE HULK AND WOULD MAKE A GOOD CAPTAIN NAZI WELL HE IS A REAL VILLAIN IN THE DCU LOOK IT UP SOMETIME
I would like to see Clayface, Two Face, and Hugo Strange.
I agree. I have said for a year that I think that Edward Norton would make an amazing riddler, as would Kevin Spacey. Spacey could also be an amazing penguin.
Hannibal Lecter, played by Steve Buscemi.
Dark Knights in Bat Guano OR
Bat "Guano" man
Michael Keaton should play Bizarro Batman
I'm disappointed it won't be the Riddler. Both Johnny Depp and David Tennant would have been awesome.
Scarecrow at his maximum ability....
i would love to see Killer Croc and Bane. No robin please. No two-face. No batgirl. No Catwoman. Def no penguin.
I think the riddler would be awesome. Although I think Johnny Depp would be a great choice for the riddler because he is just crazy. My example of that would be jack sparrow from pirates of the carribean. I dont know i just an idea.
I think a GREAT idea for the finale, would be to have an elder bruce wayne reflecting on a career of being batman, and showing clips of him battling many villians that leaves hints for the final mystery/villian he is trying to solve. That way the trilogy kinda starts with the beginning of the batman career and ends with the end of the batman career.
Two-Face, he has enough backstory already from the dark knight and would be the most logical as the next villian in the series
He fights Sarah Palin, the Tea party!
No....age the joker as a prisoner in Arkham and make Nic Nolte or John Malkovich and older meaner Joker!!!!!
Personally, you can cast Halle Berry in her Catwoman outfit any time! That would be purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect.
Hush
Is it not quite obvious who the villan will be?? At the end of The Dark Knight, we are left with Harvey Dent transforming into Two-Face .... so obviously it is a foreshadow of the next movie ... although Kevin Spacy and/or Ed Norton would definitly be much more exciting ....
for all of those people calling for Two Face, have you bothered to watch The Dark Knight? erm, Two Face is dead already
how 'bout superman, ala "dark knight returns" (copyright concerns aside)?
bright idea at 2.53 pm has the best ending solution for the trilogy and would create Batman's best final struggle, age and ultimate mortality.
I say The Ventriloquist or Clayface, with the return of Two-Face.
i think batman should go up against rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck!
Please have Harley Quinn!!!
I would like to see either the character false face
New character hugo Weaving as the impossible Dr annoyme annoying the hell out you with tv screens everywhere with election ads on them
Phantasm would be a sweet villain.
Clayface:
They could have fun with the computer graphics/morphing on this character, as well as introduce Robin.
There is no riddler in this one :/
Robert Knepper as the Riddler. Turn him into one of the "darker ones".
The Sandman
I think You guys are missing one of Batman's greatest fights from the Comics....Superman
I say Edward norton for riddler. Ben foster re-casted as the joker.
Ps
Look at our joker tribute on YouTube submitted to the tricentra film festival.
Dark knight-joker pencil scene tribute.
Thank you:)
