Blake Shelton inducted into the Grand Ole OpryAs with most news in the entertainment world, Blake Shelton found out about his induction into the Grand Ole Opry via Twitter. “Blake Shelton, you are invited to join the Grand Ole Opry!” @opry tweeted to @blakeshelton. And on Sunday, after the deed was done, Shelton responded with a tweet of his own: “Gimme an O!! Gimme a P!!!! Gimme an R!!! Gimme a Y!!!!! What's that spell?!!! Me!!!!!!!!”
A Grand Ole Opry induction is one of country music’s biggest honors. The sold-out audience that welcomed Shelton included his good friend and fellow singer, Trace Adkins. “"I became a member in 2003, and it is the single most important thing to happen in my career,” Trace said, according to The Boot. “I cherish it and have great respect for what the Opry represents, and I know Blake feels the same way.” “It's the same feeling I get when I meet one of my heroes,” Shelton said during the ceremony. “To me, the Grand Ole Opry is an artist, and I'm proud to be one of its songs." Saturday night was just the cherry on top of an amazing year for Shelton. He’s had two No. 1 hits (“Hillbilly Bone” and “All About Tonight”) and asked his girlfriend of five years, Miranda Lambert, in May to marry him. Shelton is also up for four CMA Awards this year.

That is fantastic! Blake is one of my favorite country artists. I'm so happy for him! Being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry is a prestigious event for a country artist. My question is, why hasn't Buddy Jewell been inducted yet?? He performs there often and he does a lot of charitable work, too. I think he deserves that honor. Those of you don't know who I'm talking about, he was the winner of Nashville Star about 4 years ago. In closing I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS, BLAKE!!

This is proof they will let anyone into the GOO nowadays. There is nothing that differentiates Blake, he's just another dude wearing hat and singing a song. 1,000's just like him all over the place.
