A-list stars in talks to join Muppets movie

It's time to light the lights – the Muppets are heading back to the big screen, along with some pretty A-list co-stars.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are in talks to team up with Kermit, Miss Piggy and Fozzie the Bear for an all-new Muppet movie.

"How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel, who is co-writer and co-producer of the project, has already been cast as the film's leading man, who is on a quest to find and reunite the Muppets so they can help save a movie studio.

Adams is set to play Segel's girlfriend, Jones will portray an ABC network executive, and Cooper is the greedy villain who dislikes the Muppets and wants to tear down the studio and dig for oil underneath it.

Two of the film's stars recently dished to Entertainment Weekly about the new flick, which is set to begin shooting in November.

"We think it's going to be great," Kermit tells the new issue.

"Of course it is," added Miss Piggy. "I'm in it."

Sell by date expired? I strongly disagree. They just haven't been in films lately. Those movies are hilarious and timeless. I'm sure there will be tons of clever 2010 references...Twitter, Facebook, Paris Hilton......Those movies have always made me laugh...and I can't wait to show my kids. Maybe i'm a huge dork, but I'm excited! :)

The Muppets sell-by date expired about 15 years ago. What a waste...
