“The View” has turned into quite the drama fest over the years, and Thursday’s show was no different.
The fuss this time surrounded Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly, who appeared on “The View” to talk about politics and his new book "Pinheads and Patriots.”
Before the guest segment was over, O'Reilly himself was called a pinhead by one of the hosts.
His appearance started out reasonably enough, discussing the upcoming elections. O'Reilly didn't make predictions, but called the vote a referendum on President Obama. A bit later he brought up the proposed Islamic center in New York, which is set to be built close to ground zero.
O’Reilly referred to it as a mosque and said it's inappropriate to build it there. He then added that the President's stance on the developer's right to build it and his decision not to comment on the wisdom of building it is part of the reason for what he calls a gulf between Obama and the American people.
Whoopi Goldberg asked why it would be inappropriate to build the center near ground zero, to which O'Reilly responded, "Muslims killed us on 9/11." Whoopi then lost it, and I don't know exactly what she said, because the sound dropped out a couple of times. I think it’s a safe bet that ABC's producers or censors thought what she said wasn't appropriate for a morning talk show.
Joy Behar called O’Reilly’s assertion BS and said she didn't want to sit there anymore, and then she and Whoopi walked off the set.
After Behar and Goldberg made their exit, Barbara Walters disagreed with their actions, saying they should be able to discuss things without walking away, but added that O'Reilly can't demean a whole religion based on the actions of extremists.
First he said he wasn't demeaning anyone, but then apologized "if anybody felt I was demeaning Muslims,” and Joy and Whoopi came back after that. At the commercial break, Barbara said they'd come back and discuss his book "Pinheads and Patriots" adding that it was tough to see which term was applicable to O’Reilly.
Later, Sherri Shepherd said O"Reilly was being a pinhead” because she believes he knew what he was saying when he commented that "Muslims killed us," without noting the attackers were extremists.
What do you think? Did the ladies overreact, or was Bill O'Reilly wrong in not talking about Muslim extremists?
Joy will be discussing her interview with O'Reilly on "The Joy Behar Show" tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HLN.
Hi there!I am in the workplace surfing around your personal blog by my personal new iphone! Simply just choose to declare I like studying your personal www and also start looking onward to all your blog posts! Carry on your fantastic work.
I must have had my sound turned down when I visited because I didn't hear any music.
The 9/11 terrorists' actions were totally AGAINST the name of Allah. Allah teaches Muslims NOT to kill innocent people, so your comment is not only senseless, but pointless as well.
Islam did not "inspire or coerce" those so-called Muslim terrorists to commit their actions. In fact, had they BEEN "inspired by Islam", 9/11/01 would have been an ordinary, run-of-the-mill day as they would have been fasting, praying, giving to charity, making ummah.... You know.....things that 99.9999% of the Muslim community does that the press does not find noteworthy.
Yes, they were Muslim. Terrorists. Who also KILLED a boatload of Muslims innocently going about their daily work at the WTC. Really people. Bill O'Reilly says crap like that to inflame people and he fans the fires of your ignorance and fear. They were terrorists killing Americans to make a statement. If the entire Muslim world wanted to kill us, we'd be dead already considering the so greatly outnumber us. Most of them are peaceful folk. Just like Christianity, extremists in any form are to be feared and monitored.
You two dizzy dames, Joy and that lumbering fashion disaster and not too bright Whoopi lose.
As a dyed in the wool liberal you made me ashamed because you seemed afraid of debating him, yOU DIDN'T MAKE A STATEMENT, YOU JUST LOOKED STUPID BY WALKING OUT.
@wendy: Regardless of your position on the issue, please don't shout. We can read your comment just fine even if you don't type in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Thanks.
So much passion! One group of Christians on one side, a bunch of Atheist on the other. Who'se the most threatened by the Muslim religion? The group that stands to lose the most; Christians. More and more sensible Americans, black and white, are no longer associated with Christians. Christians are just as extreme, they walk in denial of sick priest who prey on kids, they hoard ill begotten treasure, they house illegal aliens, they drink the blood of Christ for Christ sake. Drink the blood and be purified! they say. OMG!!!! Have some disgusting meat while your there.
Okay, here's how I see it. Islam is not responsible, it was a group of extremists who attacked the world trade center. But at the same time, the attackers were Muslim, and their religion was hyped up by the media. As such, I do not believe putting a mosque that close to Ground Zero is a good idea. See, no matter what you think about the attack, the fallout or whatever, you have to realize that a great many people are held in the belief that it was a Muslim attack on America. By building a mosque that close to a site of great tragedy, you trample on the memories of everyone who died, in the eyes of many of the people out there. So, even if the mosque is built, there are going to be picket lines, and angry mobs out there every day. The Muslim community will be berated again and again by people who hate that people are trampling over the memories of their lost loved ones. I really think is't a stupid idea to build one there, it's going to cause nothing but problems for the NYPD, and they have more than enough problems on their hands. I know I ramble a bit, and I apologize, my brain just never wants to work on one track.
At the end of the day, the true pinheads were Joy & Whoopi for their stupidity and lack of maturity. You can't disagree without walking away? Great example ladies.
Calling the people who flew the planes into the buildings on 9/11 representative of Islam is like saying the KKK is representative of Christianity.
The people wishing to build the community center in NYC have already bought the land and it is only two blocks away from a mosque (which has been there peaceably for decades), probably to help serve that community. I can understand resisting a "land swap" if it puts them farther away from the people they are trying to serve.
I'm not sure it was appropriate for the hosts of The View to walk off stage during their show, but certainly understand it if that is what they needed to get their tempers in control after the goading from their guest. He was looking for a reaction, not trying to get along. This gave him a lot of free publicity. I personally think he's more pinhead than patriot, but that's just my opinion. I'm thankful I live in a country where I'm free to express it.
Allow them to build in a show of tolerance and then put a pork butcher, a strip club and a liquor store in next door.
So here's the real question:
If someone crashed a plane into the Mall of America in the name of Christianity, would you then oppose building a new Christian church anywhere near it?
I don't think many of you would. Some, yes. But not the majority of you.
Leviticus is quoted to put down gays. he also wrote about a sin if men didn't wear beards or cut their hair the wrong way. the book written by men is interpreted for pretty much anything to push a christian agenda. just like the inquisition, and justifying slavery, torture, wars against Muslims in the crusades and the oil wars of dubya and cheney, with no WMD's found to dubya's disappointment, but thousands of innocents killed in the name of you know who.
ten is right
also, why is it that all these anti-mosque "they did it in the name of their religion!" bigots always seem to forget that Christians, Jews and Muslims share the same god?
Who really cares what these 2 airheads do on a dumb show. I don't, I'm on vacation. When I get home I still wont care. 9/11 happened due to crazy fools that have no other way to express themselves but to cause terror, that's why they are terrorists and politicians are politicians no matter where they live or what country they control. It all comes down to, if you have the power, you have the money, if you have the money then you have power. It's as simple as that. Best of luck to all of us.
There's no crying in baseball!!!!! There's no crying on TV shows either. Someone forgot to tell those airheads. Never did care for either one.
A Rose Is A Rose, Despite It's Colour Or Arrangement; The Rose Remains To Be A Rose. It Is Much The Same With Reputations And Affiliations Which Tend To Proceed Us. The Difference?... Reputations And Affiliations Can Be Changed But "If And Only If" They Choose To Change It. The Premise That "Johnny Is A Boy Scout And Johnny Is Bad Boy Therefore All Boy Scouts are Bad Boys Defies Most Folks Logic. So What's The Difference As In Joy/Whoopi & Bill O'Reilly's Flap On The View?... Knowledge, Or The Lack Of It And Perception. Everyone Has Their Own Sensibilities And Points Of View And Are Welcomed To Express It By Law. Do I Necessarily Agree With It?.. I Raise My Eyebrows In Pause.... But Listen... " It is Better To Be Thought A Fool Then To Open Ones Mouth And Remove All Doubt..."
You see? 10 years later we already forgot...
but here's one thing I don't get. Until today the majority of "whites" are still blamed for the years of slavery that African-American were exposed by a minority of rich heartless people 200 years ago. But today, they just want to isolate what happened in 9/11 to a few radi cals Ms, having said that, why don't apply the same rules to what happened 200 years ago?
Sad thing is that as I said at the beginning.... we just forgot 9/11 while they still celebrate...
this is one of the many reasons i don't watch the view. the women on the show do not present the facts for others to judge for themselves. it is simply a forum for their views only. personally, i don't care what they think, therefore, i won't watch their show. they should provide impartial information and let their viewers decide what to believe.
Matt in San Diego, who cares what you think. You're an idiot.
Listen, to all of you who don't understand that it's America's choice to do whatever we want, ITS OUR CHOICE. If we want to start a few wars who's to blame us. Your countries have went around killing and conquering since the ancient times. from the Egyptians, to the Songhai, Aztecs to Spanish. The country in the world with the dominant military gets to choose the fate of its inferiors. I think they should put a Christian or a Catholic church as they are our countries major religions. I'm sure if the caliphs of the Arab golden age still had control over the world by force of military they wouldn't be crying over their guilt of being the supreme ruling country of the nation.
All we need is LOVE! And these "view" chicks to find another job.
Whoppy go back to stand-up comedy maybe they'll throw you off the stage. Joy you are pitiful at best. Why not try selling peanuts at your home town ball games. Both of you wake up and face the real WORLD for once.
I think we are getting a little off topic, here. We all know Americans deserved much worse for their ignorance and crimes against humanity. Oh, and Bill O' Reilly is cool, i mean no one can get a group of lazy self-righteous imbeciles upset like him.
Walking off the set was unprofessional an unproductive no matter who you agree with. However, all O'reilly did was point out a fact. What's wrong with that?
These two loudmouth broads think everyone should listen to their opinions when many of us consider them to be somewhat extreme. They drown out rudely or walk off the stage when they don't like someone else's opinion. that's why I never watch their show– they are hypocrites! It's easy to dislike O'Reilly but please remember that everyone gets their turn to speak and that's how we do it in America. After all, he was invited to be on the show.
My maiden name is an Irish name, very much so, from the Irish language in fact, and I am of Irish ancestry. I bring this up because I feel that I have a perspective on O'Reilly that comes from my background, perhaps.
I grew up in a neighborhood surrounded by Irish Americans.
O'Reilly loves to get a rise out of people, just like Hannity. They are blow-hards. And don't think that they know it! They know it perfectly well, and they know that they are outrageous, cruel and mean spirited. They KNOW it but the secret is that they will never let on. They know that they are mean and nasty. Believe me, they are just angry, angry guys who have this chance to get on national TV and say, "Screw You".
It all has to do with a misguided notion of Irish pride, of thinking that they know best and that they can DO better than the rest. It also has nothing to do with politics, in a sense, because it is related to their culture which calls for, even today, for repression and rebellion. They love being rebels. They NEED to be rebels.
Nothing made O'Reilly feel better than to see Joy and Whoopie walk out. He needed to see that. It made him feel POWERFUL, don't you see? Irish guys have felt repressed by their culture and they love to get mad and make others feel upset. It makes them feel that they can at least do THAT.
I admit that I feel that my culture IS the best for many reasons, but I also have the brains to realize that this is only how I FEEL and not, of course, true. It makes no sense, in other words.
Ever notice how morally superior O'Reilly likes to act? Well, just put a Roman collar on him and bring him to the Catholic altar and let him speak. He will bully the parishioners around and scare the daylights out of everyone. He's just one arrogant Irish bully and he deserves contempt.
I say this with a deep love of my cultural heritage but also an understanding, from the inside, of what he is doing.
@Irina, the fact is as many atrocities have been committed historically and recently in the Christian god's name as the Muslims. In fact, it wasn't that long ago that CHristians were burning their fellow Christians for either believing in the Trinity as one or the Trinity as three separate and distinct elements, the belief or non-belief in transubstantiation or that Jesus was at once both man and god, and that's just to list a few. THere are the Salem Witch trials, oh and there's the support of Slavery that Christians assured their slaves was a Biblically suppported...so wait...why don't you get over it and stop passing judgment against Muslims when your house Lady is so clearly made of glass. OH and you should definitely cover yourself cause showing your ass here is not pretty.
C'mon Whoopi. You dress like a man so act like one.
i didn't think of this , but really thought it was a valid point. in discussing 9/11 everyone seems to use the term Muslims, as if all Muslims are bad or evil, instead of using Muslim extremists. a point was made when an abortion clinic is bombed no body refers to the person as a Christian extremist, they are considered right to life people. really????? to me there is no difference between a person who would fly a plan into a building or a person bombing one because they disagree with a womans choice. harming, killing or maiming a person who does not agree with anothers beliefs is infantile. if a person has to use violence shows a lack of imaginenation in expressing their views.
Typical liberals, can't stand to have someone disagree so they run away or call them names or attack their motives...typical.
During WW 2 was it "GERMAN EXTREMIST" who killed 100's of thousnands of jews???
No. It was GERMANS!!!
I don't agree with O'reiley on much but he has a right to his opinion and he hit right on the head.
"They WERE Muslims"... until they flew those planes into our buildings. Now they are a bunch of dead muslims looking for their 70 virgins. and as a good red blooded american – I hope those virgins are all HAIRY, UGLY OLD MEN !!!
Never forget 9 / 11
God Bless AMERICA!!!
Boy there is nothing like the truth to stop BS in its tracks. How about debating the freedom of worship and religion versus the right for non believers to live free from threat? Last time I looked Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Taoism and Christianity recruit by persuasion not force or death threats. I would vote yes in an instant for a cultural center for any of those mentioned.
Well Hallelujah...now can we get them to leave the view permanently? And take Barbara Waa-Waa with them when they go. They give women worldiwde a BAD name, useless women who think they are something, when all they are is mouthpieces.
joy and whoopi are lovers
They had to retreat because they were unarmed in a battle of wits.
I think it's funny that Behar is upset with O'Reilly. Yes, he made a blanket statement about Muslims; however, she does the exact same thing when talking about Christians. Those who live in glass houses...
If with all of the attacks against the USA and our interrests abroad you changed the label from Muslim extremists to Southern Baptist extremists there would long ago been a movement to do away with the Southern Baptist Convention as an organization supporting terrorism. After Oklahoma City alone there was a push from liberals to start investigating all "right wing groups."
If Muslims do not want the terrorist attacks attached to all Muslims then they must aggressively and vocally denounce the attacks.
As a Southern Baptist pastor I have taken a personal and public position that it is wrong for right to life advocates to kill abortionists-even though I disagree with abortion and long to see Roe vs Wade overturned.
But the Muslim world as a whole is pretty silent about refuting terrorist attacks.
I used to have a different thought about Muslims (just like you and me) until I studied the Koran and Islamic religion. After reading several of your comments and viewing the unprofessional actions of the ladies on the View I would just say "Wake up America and eductate yourself on 1. your own religion and 2. the muslim religion." When you do that, then make an educated response or host an informative TV show. I challenge you all to learn the current environment we live in and conduct a comparitive analysis of Nazi Germany to Muslim Ideologies. You might be very suprised. As for the ladies on the View, your concept of reality on Terrorism and the Muslim Faith is not only clouded by your ignorance but your continued use of the Media platform to spread false statements is irresponsible. I remember when Rosie O'Donnell said "American is paranoid about Terrorism...there are no terrorist tyring to get us." Just look back 15 years in our World history of all the Terrorist attacks that have occurred to gain an appreciation that we are in a fight for our own social existance.
Bill expresses his opinion on a show that is supposed to be about differing opinions, and 2 of the hosts walk off because they disagreed with him. Who was being intolerant?
Anymore it seems like the most intolerant people are liberals. Conservatives will state a position then are willing to discuss and debate. Liberals state a position then say, "there is no discussion about it. That's the way it is." For example Barack Obama and every issue he's discussed since inauguration day. For example, Al Gore on global warming. For example, the way liberals constantly attacked President Bush when he was in office (and still to this day). They abused him constantly, for his policies, for his language, for everything. And all because that is what freedom and democracy is all about. But now, with President Obama in office it is unpatriotic and racist to disagree with anything he does. Barack played more golf in his first 6 months in office than President Bush played in 8 years in office. But it was ok for liberals to hatefully abuse President Bush for too much golf, but nobody better say anything about Barack playing golf.
Liberals are more closed to differing opinions than they even imagine conservatives to be.
vertebrates attacked you in 911, Humans attacked you in 911; men attacked you in 911. But: A specific large armed political organization with thousands of members attacked you; it's not abstract; it has a leadership and a name: Al Qada. So please stop miring the rest of us in the dirt by calling them Muslims. Humans would be a set of 6 billion, Muslim 1.5 billion, Al Qada narrows it down. If you keep saying Muslim, then we have a right to think you are trying to drag the rest of us Muslims in because you have an agenda (your domestic politics perhaps? your own religious extremism? to cover up and justify killing us when needed for oil?)
Until now, I've never liked O'Reilly much! Still don't-much, but I'm totally with him on this. I'm tired of Muslims running over my values. Let the liberal sectareians like Behar and Who-what roll over and play dead if they want to. It's about time that Christians put up or shut up and start confronting Islam for what it is-the Anti-Christ!
If the mosque is built on ground zero, may "christian extremists" will drop a bomb on it, in it, under it or whatever. I hope someone can stop it. Maybe GOD??
O'Riley is a cantankerous, intellectually myopic, self-serving, self-righteous ideologue, and no reasonable individual worthy of respect should ever take him seriously. It is a sad statement about this country that pinheads like O'Riley are given so much attention.
O'Riley is a cantankerous, intellectually myopic, self-serving, self-righteous ideologue, and no reasonable individual worthy of respect should ever take him seriously.
So 10 yrs later the fruit has come to bare, not only has the government or the people not insist on a criminal charge for the administration of Bush and Cheney, Rumsfield and Rice. We the people have lost most of our rights in the name of fear, the administration of the bush era have all gotten rich and have made this great nation separated, and brought hate to a race of citizens. And Bill O reilley is just one of the many commentators sent out to keep the hate alive. our government is capable and secretive enough to do what ever it wants and threw the media can say and do what they want and make it seem ok. Time to stop the hate and anger
The left wing lunatics are creating right wing extremist with their nihilistic elitism. They feed the hatred they so veitmently condemn with their own hypocrisy of self righteousness. The very act of bigotry they accuse O'Reilly of is committed daily by both politicians and media personalities in regards to Judeo-Christian's and non-democrats. Hypocrisy spans both sides of the political divide.
So you're saying that everyone who disagrees with O'Riley is a "left-wing lunatic?" OK, that's fine...as long as you concede that everyone who agrees with O'Riley must be a "right-wing lunatic." They're either that, or they're just plain fools.
Anyone who truly believes Bill O'Riley represents the views of the majority of the American people is either incredibly ignorant, or grossly delusional.
O'Riley and the rest of FOX News is simply a circus act, and a lousy one at that. O'Riley is a cantankerous, intellectually myopic, self-serving, self-righteous ideologue who no one worthy of the nation's respect should ever take seriously.
Lest we forget...Timothy McVeigh was a home-grown, red-blooded American citizen (born and raised in NY); Bronze Star recipient / Gulf War veteran / honorably discharged US soldier; God and gun-loving Christian...when he decided to blow up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. He mercilessly killed 168 "of us" (to use Mr. O'Reilly's own words), including 19 children. How would Mr. O'Reilly apply his own "logic" on this one?? Would he brand all New Yorkers, or retired Army Veterans, or NRA-members, or Christians as responsible for the deaths caused by TMcV's extremist delusions??
Mr. O'Reilly is nothing more than a fear-mongering, book-peddling profiteer who stokes the fires of divisiveness and hatred for his own benefit and enjoyment. If he were uneducated and/or ignorant of history, his words might be dismissed; but he chose them carefully and with purpose, making this sad exhibition of bigotry inexcusable and unforgiveable.
People claim 'logic' all the time, but usually don't really understand how to use it. The men who engaged in the 9/11 terrorist acts were Muslim. Therefore, Muslims killed ~3000 Americans. However, that statement does not mean, or imply, that all Muslims killed these Americans. It gets worse – O'Reilly said "Muslims killed us". Who is 'us'? They didn't kill me, or my family. Therefore, the statement is illogical (fallacious). What he *meant* was 'Some Muslims killed some of us'. But, again – it gets worse. Some of those killed were Muslim. So, what he should have said was 'Some Muslims killed some of us, including some Muslims'. But that would not have been as provocative, *and* it would be a very weak reason to not build a mosque nearby. So, he made a statement that the vast majority of willfully ignorant viewers would accept as 'rational'. Behar and Goldberg reacted in an equally irrational manner – and a ridiculous controversy erupted that is completely beside the point. In the end, the media wins and America loses. How sad.
It was Muslim fundamentalists, not Muslims, who attacked our country on 9/11. Unfortunately, this country is full of ignorant fools like Bill o"Reilly and his sycophants who are all too ready to blame the entire Islamic faith for the actions for a few misguided fanatics. I don't care if his opinion Fox News watching dolts who follow him haven't learned a damned thing.
The left always cries "Tolerance! Tolerance!", then shows none of it themselves. They throw a tantrum if someone has a conflicting opinion.
Yes Christians do have extremists. The difference is other christians police and redicule their extremists. they guy that wanted to burn the koran was rediculed as an idiot very publically and world wide by other christians. David Koresh was killed. McVeigh was caught and dealt with and locked up by other christians. When the muslim community starts policing their own, executing their own for heinous crimes, imprisoning their own, and going on media outlets and publically rediculing their extremists like christians do, then maybe healing will start. I have yet to see muslim leaders world wide publically condemning each and every act that takes place in the name of their religion. When a christian extremist does something other christians are quick to publically rebuke them to the rest of the world.
People claim 'logic' all the time, but usually don't really understand how to use it. The men who engaged in the 9/11 terrorist acts were Muslim. Therefore, Muslims killed ~3000 Americans. Why is it so arduous to comprehend that it is insensitive for the mosque to be located on Ground Zero?
Rewind back a number of years and you'll find the Jewish people in the same situation with the Christians condemning them publically and using them as their scapegoats. Eventually the muslim people will continue what they are doing through CAIR and other political means, i.e. fighting for their rights and ensuring that they have equal representation in America.
The extreme right is playing on the fears of the American people, and doing so in a very effective manner through FOX and other avenues like partnering with the Jewish-American lobby (think AIPAC). Open your eyes and see what is really going on in the world before making sweeping generalizations about a religion and other nations. Travel and educate yourselves more, the average American does not venture out of their country for their entire lifetimes and then the consequence of that is that they rely on the idiot box to shape their perceptions. I found that travelling and reading media from around the world has given me more perspective on other religions and peoples which makes me a more well-rounded world view.
Of course they over reacted – that is just awful behavior. O'Reilly is often rude and completely in the left field with his opinions but failing to be the better host and address his lack of tact or class and storming off like a couple of Divas was uncalled for. The point can be made that just because Christians bomb planned parenthoods and kill doctors doesn't make the whole religion terrorist. Perhaps its inappropriate for churches to be build within blocks of a medical facility? Joy, Woopie, keep your knickers on and act like a couple of professionals in the face of Pin'Headedness.
THANK YOU to the person who brought up Timothy Mc Veigh.
Many of you are waiting for Muslims to verbsalize an out cry to the Muslim extremists. There never was once an out cry from the militia groups who Mc Veigh had ties to denouncing the murder of American citizens.
The militia groups are still in this country...........HHMMMMHHHMMM. We are not actively denouncing them.
HHHMMMhhhhMM . Americans not willing to stand up to American terroists. HHHHMMMMMMM
Well, using Billo the Clowns logic, white Americans were responsible for the Oklahoma CIty bombing.
Just like you can't blame all mormans for polygamy you can't blame all muslims for the terror attacks... there are muslims who were just as horrified about the attacks as the rest of us. if you listen to o'reilly on the show he sounds pompous and does sound very racists against muslims. do i think it is stupid they walked off yes. you can't walk off a show called the view if someone has a view different then yours. let him blame who ever he wants. personally i think the man is a racist idiot who knows nothing about anything especially being a christian. if muslims want to build a center close to the trade center site well that is their right... i think the stupidity comes from expecting the president who is supposed to protect our rights to stop the building when they have every right to build the center anywhere they want to. I do think it is insensitive to do so but there isn't a single thing we can do about it.
It's 'cite', not 'site'. Go back to school!
@ everyone who things all terrorists are Muslim.
Not all terrorists are Muslim. Irish National Liberation Army, Irish People's Liberation Organization, The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, Kahane Chai (Kach); of Israel, West Bank (jewish group) are all listed as US Nationally recognized Terrorist Organizations. The Oklahoma City Bomber, The Christian Crusaders from the 11th 12th and 13th centuries, were all acts of terrorism preformed by non-Muslims.
I think it's wrong to suggest it would be inappropriate to build a Muslim Center in Lower Manhattan. What better way to tell the EXTREMISTS that you cannot change the American way, than to do what American's have always done; rejoice in the diversity of our great country.
"...But all terrorists are Muslim" Of course, absolutely wrong.
Goldberg & Behar can dish it out, but they can't take it. What a couple of hypocrites.
Listen, Mr. O'Reilly, and YOU might learn something: Catholics molested little boys.
You guys are making it seems like all the Muslims are terrorists. Shame on you. The moment you start doing that I think you loose the right to represent this great country USA and you are no better than the terrorists. Just because KKK is a Christian group you don't label yourself as KKK. You people don't even label KKK as a terrorist group after all they have done. I am been watching what is happening over the years. When a Muslim commits a crime, no matter how small it is he is a terrorist. When an individual of other faith commits a crime he is just a criminal. And as far as the Mosque/Islamic center goes, I want you to test bravery/humanity by telling it to the American Muslims families who lost their loved ones during 9/11 attack that their loss is a lesser one than that of the people of other faith that died needlessly on that day. Tell them just because you are Muslim and although you lost your sons and daughters you can’t build anything here because they don’t count. While you are at it may be you can call them terrorists as well. Bunch of Hippocrates.
9/11 cost more to the Muslims in this country than the non Muslims. It cost our freedom. Try to put yourself in our shoes. Terrorists don’t represent us. They are just crazy like any fundamentalist.
Lets be honest for once. Bill O Rielly leans to the right Politically and Joan Behar and Whoopi Lean far Left Politically. So I concluded that it didnt matter what conversation started it these two so called hosts were going to do what they did anyways. Because if nothing else I have gotten from the show the view is that those women are incapable of having an intelligent thought out conversation devoid of the emotions and based in hard facts. Bill O rielly was using the mosque as an example of why Obama has a division between him and the american people on many front this being one of them. Yes they have the right to build where they want but just because you can doesnt mean you should and this mosque whether you like it or not is an afront to most americans. But it not just that issue it issues like craming Obamacare down peoples throats without even reading the bill. Rushing to push through the stimulus without even reading the bill and having him tout it as a big success when its clear to the american public that its not been a great success at all. This is what BillO rielly was trying to get too is that Obama and Democrats have an election problem is because they refuse to listen to the will of the people being governed. But who would know that when these so called host cant control themselves long enough to get to the cusp of the conversation. And having this show off the air would be no lost to anyone.
The Nazis were Christians. Should all churches cease to exist in Europe out of respect? All religions have extremists who take the message too far; a whole group of one religion should not be blamed for the actions of the extremists. To do so is counter to every religion's message.
Nazis were not Christian you idiot. The Nazi party was an occult Religion that had nothing to do with Christianity. They were not committing their atrocities in the name of any god. Do a little research on groups such as the Thule Society and you will realize how ignorant your comment is. Naziism was its own religion.
Extremists? C'mon folks, anyone who has been awake for the last 9 years knows that 9/11 was an inside job. It had nothing to do with muslims, it has everything to do with Cheney. Wake up! and seriously stop giving this @$$ clown publicity. He is a complete dip$#^t.
At Dave: What exactly did you mean when you made the statement below?
"Dave: Well its not like they were Seventh Day Adventists."
Who really cares how they reacted? it's an entertainment show, not a news program. After all, they have a woman on there, SherrI Shepherd, who isn't sure if the earth is flat or not.
Bill O'Reilly reminds me of some of the Irish Catholics in my own family. These people have their own way of processing reality. In their minds one +one = 3 or 5 or seven or whatever they want it to equal.
We (the USA) want to call these people Muslim extremist, but look at Pakistan, Look at Afghanistan, look at Iraq. When strict followers of the Koran follow out the dictates of the Koran the results are a political system that is infused with religion. Here in the USA the Liberals are fighting for Muslims "rights" because they are a minority while the demonize anything with the word Christian in it. But when the Muslim religion comes into full fruition here in the states you will see how tolerant this religion is for gays, women, children and the civilian. The religion allows you to lie to the unbeliever to advance Islam. The end goal is total submission to Allah, you do not submit you die. When someone suicide bombs a building, or a mosque, or a shopping center in the name of Allah they are in fact caring out the tenants of their faith to the fullest degree. If a "Christian" kills in the name of Christ then he/she is in DIRECT VIOLATION of his teachings and are not true followers of his word. A lot of people are bringing us Leviticus and Deuteronomy as examples of the bible allowing for brutality and murder. 1. This was the law for who? The Israelites. The Law still did not save. Man could not keep the law and was in need of a savior. 2. Christ came, a follower of Christ follows his examples and his teachings. When the men wanted to stone the adulteress, he asked where is the man? It takes two for this sin. He then said that "he who is without sin, cast the first stone." He then told her I do not condemn you, go and sin no more. Quite the contrast from the woman in Afghanistan that just recently was given a prosthetic nose because it was cut off from her face by the Taliban. Oh they did cut her ears off as well.
There's no excuse for it. When you walk off a set like that, it's immediately all about you. It's no longer about your audience gaining the benefit of the debate. It's now about your opinion of the guest. And when you leave the bounds of your professional obligation and get personal like that, well, that's...unprofessional. Period. That was Babs' point when she said it shouldn't have happened. And she was right.
They're all a bunch of idiots.
Lest we forget...Timothy McVeigh was a home-grown, red-white-and-blue American (born and raised in NY), Gulf War veteran, Bronze Star recipient and honorably discharged US Army soldier, and apparently not too God-fearing Christian when he blew up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. He killed 168 "of us" (to use Mr. O'Reilly's own words), including 19 toddlers...how do we apply O'Reilly's "logic" on that one?
Mr. O'Reilly is nothing more than a fear-mongering, book-peddling profiteer who stokes the fires of divisiveness and hatred for his own benefit and enjoyment.
She is pro muslim! Not a good American either.
When I hear the leaders from the Muslim faith denounce the actions of a Muslim extremist, I will let the Muslim faith off the hook and only condem the extremists. I have yet to hear one word from Muslim leaders condeming these extremist, so if they aren't against them...
when I hear the pope condemn and turn over all those priests that abused children, and the rest of the christians apologize for killing natives, stealing their lands, enslaving them, all in the so-called name of their god, along with the racism that they committed using their book to justify it, then I will look to the Muslims to apologize. Don't forget the inquisition and the crusades along with the oil companies pillaging oil from the Arab countries until they were tossed out and only let back in under the terms of the people who lived there. Oh, and get an apology from the Bushes who got a pass for China so they could outsource jobs and put the economy in the tank by ignoring the subprime mortgage warnings. No WMD's found for that born-again former drunk. It will be a cold day in h3ll before that happens.
Patriot, to answer your question on one reputable Muslim that has been outspoken against these extremist i will bring forward Nihad Awad, if you look up his history you will see that he actually stood by Bush side right after 9/11 condemning the terrorist attacks. Also, Great USA, on O'Reilly moving up the ladder, its not a ladder your moving up if your being propelled by ignorant sounds coming out of your mouth. And to say that its wrong to build a mosque or cultural center near ground zero is a ridiculous as to say you cant or shouldn't build a church next to clinic that performs abortions and has been fire bombed. Christian terrorism is religious terrorism by Christian sects or individuals but you dont see a movement to close down Christian Churches or stop them from being built. Why is that??? Its basically because Christians are the Majority while Muslims are the minority, we as a progressive country and mind should get over the minority issue in every aspect and get down to dealing with individualizes and their actions.
Muslims killed Americans.
Germans killed Jews.
Americans killed Indians.
All these statements are true,
When the truth causes trouble, liberals have something to do with it.
Whoppi Goldberg and Joy Behar were , in my opinion acting like a couple of infants with loaded diapers. It was obvious that the two of them, who are liberals, were lying in wait for Bill O'Reilly to say something that would set them off and of course he did. Let's face it, Bill O'Reilly isn't the most lovable person in the world and is known for his strong conservative stance on various issues. Personally however, I found his remarks to be factual. Muslims did attack us on 9/11 and the proposed Mosque near ground zero is inappropriate and should be relocated. And a majority of Americans agree with him.
Joy and Whoopi need to GROW UP!!! They can't handle the truth so like little babies they walk away.
The thing that baffles me about this, is that the mostly liberal panel of The View invited the overtly conservative Bill O'Reilly onto their show, and then were shocked and insulted by his opinions! He did not shock them with anything he has not said hundreds of times before, so why did they invite him on in the first place? You do not invite the fox into the hen house and then not expect it to eat a chicken. (Sorry for the pun....)
Just an observation on the totally opposing forces that guide each persons oppinion on this obviously volatile subject.
It is a masculine trate to show strangth, to aggresivly act, to breath fire and to protect. These trates have their place and are good but they are no place far from the trates of the feminine who nurtures, shows compation, shows a cooler head, is understanding and propagates harmony. This is not to say that those on the left act like "girls" and are nieve in there understanding of the world, if you were about to make this assumetion don't bother you'll prove my point to early. It is also not to say that those on the right are the real "men", for some of the comments I've read clearly depict a scared child lashing out at things in the dark. If our focus continues to be on issues that devide us we will never find a common groung with each other or our neighbors. Words are powerful maybe the most powerful thing we have and though we have the right to say what we want we also should recognize that with that right comes enormous responsability. when I was a child I called my brother names and he'd hit me. I stopped and he stopped to.
CAN IT BE?! A VOICE OF REASON!! AND HERE I THOUGHT IT WAS OUTLAWED AROUND HERE. I REALLY COULD NOT SAY THAT BETTER.
First of all, people who kill doctors who perform abortions say they are killing for the Christian God, yet we don't forbid Christian churches to be built near physicians' offices. Insensitive to be sure for the docs! The insensitive argument is not a part of legal arguments in our society and it just doesn't fly. It is a veil for racism and intolerance.
And the statement that "all terrorists are Muslims?" Get a clue. Terrorists exist in every religious group, in every country, for every cause. Extremists are extremists no matter which religious cloak they hide behind. Most Muslims are people of peace as are most people in general. Fear based stereotyping is what we should all find completely intolerable.
I was watching this when it happened. It was all theater. O'Reilly wanted to make the news in order to push his new book. The View wanted controversy in the news to combat the threat of the new CBS girl talk show. I have to keep reminding myself that all of the extreme views on different shows and hosts are in order to get ratings, are self-promoting, and all for bringing in the bucks. We are all duped into believing their hype and forming opinions based on their crap. Think for yourself people!
Yes! The Muslims did it! They're just upset because they can't enjoy life until after they're dead! - And Yes! –Christians are sheep! Abide by the Commandments when iit's convenient; disregard when it's not. Your religion's leadership will let you know when to and when not to.
Those terrorists didn't killed because the were men or because they wanted to show their masculity, that's dumb. They did it because their beliefs (whatever beliefs they were, that's not the point) became very extreme beliefs where life and death, or love and hate didn't matter to them at all, and that's obviously not normal in our actual society.
To Whoopie and Mrs.Behar:
Were not white people who invaded America, and enslaved America? And Mrs. Behar: have you never used derogatory language against not muslim religions?
Maybe we should abolish all the churches in Dublin...how many innocent lives have been destroyed there in the name of Christianity? It's not the religion people, it's the interpretation!
I actually watched the whole show on the view and I understand why Joy and Whoopi had to leave. You can't blame all Muslims for the terrible thing that happened on 9/11. Also, Christians are not the only ones who died that day, there were 70 Muslims families that were on ground zero and died due to the attack of the terrorist. Also, to make note, Allah is another name for God. As a Chirstian (yes I am a Christian), I see plenty of people here claiming they are Christians but then applaud violence. There are extreme Christians just as there are extreme Muslims. To other Christians out there, what type of example are we showing to others who do not know and are not exposed to Christianity? How do you expect other religion to appreciate and understand Christianity when what we are showing is hate and the opposite of what we preach? Jesus came and mingled with sinners (all of us are sinners) and set an example. We are no better than everyone else. If you want others to respect us, we should show respect to others as well. Before you act or say anything, think... is this what Jesus would do?
You old bunch of kooks..We're any of you ever a victim ? the fact is we we're attacked by muslims on 9/11. i'm in Afghanistan doing my part and you're acting like a jack wagon doing yours. It's an OLD act...Phonies...
Two women who usually point out the destructiveness of intolerance (which I agree) find themselves to be extremely intolerant. I don’t care for O’Reilly’s approach or his message, but much of what he said is true. Put the shoe on the other foot. What if a country with an Islamic based government was attacked and 3,500 innocent people were killed. Also imagine, that during the attack the terrorist praised Jesus, claimed this act to be a religious duty and that the killing of the non-believers was inspired by God via the teachings of the Holy Bible? How many new Christian Churches would be built in that country the following year? If the Islamic majority condemns the actions of the extreme Islamic groups, then why isn’t this war between them? Why was the falling of the Twin Towers so highly celebrated by so many Muslims? Where do you think the extremist get their money? We must be tolerant, especially to one another, but we shouldn’t forget who we are and that any attack on the United States will be retaliated, regardless of the faith of the majority
Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg need to grow up. Someone doesn't agree with their view of the world, so they basically stamp their feet and throw tantrums and run away. Come on.
Barbara Walters is a jew. Whoop aND oy are loudmouths. OReilly ws off the beam but is this THE Us or the freaking unITED Nations. guess which one
A bully is a bully and a bigot is a bigot. Bill O'Reilly is both. A debate about the sensitivities involved in the Mosque location would have been fine; but he came out acting like a pompus jerk and declared that he was going to "teach" something to the ladies of the view. Then he he referred to the TERRORISTS as Muslims instead of Terrorists. When you hear hateful words sometimes you just have to walk away and take away the power the bully seems to think he has. It happened to me...I'm not gay, but I heard a supervisor and a Vice President in my former company laughing and joking and name calling in reference to a woman in the company who was gay. I was shocked and disgusted and I left. One of them was my boss, and the other was a supervisor who reported to me!! The bullying carried over to many aspects at work and I became physically sick from the stress...hard to work and be professional when you have already been threatened by your boss that she had HR in her pocket and nobody was going to ever go over her "f-ing" head. Same Bill O'Reilly mentality. A bully is a bully, and now, as I look for a new job, the bullies still have theirs. We can not get conditioned to believe this garbage is acceptable. On TV, in our schools, or in the workplace...we need to walk away sometimes to keep our sanity. As for reasoning with Bill O'Reilly? Pllllleeaazzzzzzzzzzze! A bully and a bigot usually is not easily reasoned with, because they are so full of themselves they believe the garbage and their behavior is acceptable. Congrats to Whoopy and Joy – at that moment they did the right thing. If he had used the "N" word would Barbara have insisted they sit and discuss the subject?
Yoy old koots no nothing about the victims in new york and don't give me that crap that we can't say it was muslims behind the attacks because it was. Take you're PC and shove it. i'm in Afghanistan doing my part while you're acting like awanna be doing yours. I want to see how you would act if you lost friends and family on 9/11..
NO WHAT SHE MEANT IS THAT O'REILLY SHOULDN'T GENERALIZE WHEN HE SAYS: "MUSLIMS KILLED US ON 9/11" BECAUSE IT WASN'T ALL MUSLIMS, IT WAS JUST A SMALL GROUP OF MUSLIMS WHO DID IT, HE GIVES A RACIST PERSPECTIVE TO IT, HE SHOULD OF SAID "A GROUP OF MUSLIMS KILLED AMERICANS ON 9/11".
Bill O'Reilly is a toolbox
Saying "Muslims killed us on 9/11" would be the equivalent of some other idiot saying "Christians kill little girls in church bombings" its a blanket statement that is not only incorrect but inappropriate. Not all Muslims are Al Queda just like not all Christians are KKK.
1. If a host cannot act like an adult when someone voices an opinion they don't like, and have to throw a hissy fit, then the show should be renamed "Our View", fom "The View."
2. O'Reilly, like him or hate him, was correct. All those who attacked the U.S. on 9/11 were indeed Muslims representing Islam. They weren't acting as individuals or as political representatives. Were ALL Muslims involved? Of course not, and he didn't say that, either.
3. I'm sick of people like those two ultra liberal cartoonish celebrities using their influence to try to force their assumptive notions on others. It's a fascist tactic and very uncool.
One of the issues we gloss over too quickly is the lack of manners and courtesy by many TV personalities. O'Reilly is notorious for angry interruptions of those he interviews. Study his tirade against Barney Frank. Behar and Goldberg are no better in their actions. Walters at least showed some class and tolerance. As a culture we have accepted the "Jerry Springer Syndrome" as a part of our way of life. Calling people "Pinheads," no matter what your beliefs, is a clear example of divisiveness. And it is undoubtedly done for one reason, more bucks.
Everyone may have a 1st amendment right to free speech but I have every right to choose the company I keep and I would have walked off The View if Bill O'R had just showed up and not even opened his mouth......... jeez what a fear mongerer. What happened to a kinder gentler nation, many points of light and do unto others as you would have them do unto you..... let's get back to the basics of human decency.
I applaud Whoopi and Joy for having the guts to walk off the set. Sometimes when a situation escalates to the point this discussion did, it is better to walk away and let the discussion de-esculate a bit before returning. It wasn't like there were no hosts on the set when those two walked off. The audience applauded and I would have too. "Poor Bill" NOT, that guy knew exactly what he was saying.
Extreemist christians bomb abortion clinics and kill doctors in the name of god . Does that mean we can't have churches near a clinic ?
These comments got way off track - regardless of what O'Reilly said, those women are putting themselves out there as pundits and ersatz journalists, and when one of their invited guests (and they knew damn well what side he's on before he said one word) says something they find disagreeable, they WALK!? They take their Barbie dolls and crawl out of the sandbox? They would have done a lot more for their own credibility, their show, and date I say our GENDER had they just (WO)manned up and engaged in thoughtful debate. But they pretty much erased all doubt that there just a couple of shrill, narrow-minded, intellectual midgets.
People People...why so serious? Give these boobs talkshows so they can back to their own shows and talk about the controversy they made up on others talkshows. You dont think these "personalities" actually have KNOWLEDGE on a subject. LOOK AT MEEE!!! LOOK AT MEEEEE!!!! Back to the barn Bessie!
O'Reilly was/is a Patriot
The left loves to scream 'tolerance' when in fact they are the least tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Oh, the insanity of it all. The men on the planes were Muslim but they were fringe extremists.
I agree O'Reilly had the right to say what he said. However, I feel, his tongue was wagging quicker than his brain was thinking. Saying Muslims were responsible for 9/11 is akin to saying Catholic priests are pedophiles. Blanket statements are mis-leading and more often than not, inaccurate. My question is: don't the booze & strip joints [even closer to "Ground Zero] demean that "sacred" ground also?!
what is Sharia Law? and what part of it you do not like?
Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg's actions just show their lack of class. The polls taken indicate that they are basically....a joke! Most of us educated and 'responsible' adults understand that there should be free religion. We just don't cram our beliefs down other people's throats like Behar and Goldberg. Truth hurts – so reply with your immature name calling and rants!! Have a nice weekend everyone.
All religions have a history of violence. Please refer to the Crusades, Christian persecution of Mormans, etc.! this country was founded on tolerance 9although we have not always practiced it). O'reilly, Beck & Llimbaugh are fostering hate & intolerance of large groups of humans. Now, the children of their listeners are bullying kids in school. The purveyors of hate must take a serious look at their use of Freedom of Speech...is it responsible speech? Time to care for each other & simply denounce demogogues od any persuasion!
ORielly is as bad as Beck. Screwed up, delusional products of our poisonous society.
The 9/11 terrorists killed 3,00 IN THE NAME OF ISLAM, and there is no dispute over that. Based on this fact alone, it is reasonable to believe that a mosque (or islamic cultural center if you want to call it that) represents a security threat so close to the ground zero site. That is the primary reason the mosque should not be allowed to be built there. It should not be allowed by law. I'm so tired of Americans thinking that we have to let everyone walk all over us without defending ourselves just because everyone is so focused on absolute freedom and not hurting anyones feelilngs. We should be ready to hurt feelings of anyone when our safety is in question.
Obviously it was the entire Muslim religion that bombed us on 9/11, just as it was the entire Christian religion that kills doctors that perform abortions and that blew up Oklahoma City.
I hate the thought of a mosque going up anywhere but they have a right to make their own mistakes.
O'Reilly is a shock jock!! His career depends on making outrageous comments or holding provocative positions. In that regard he is much like Sarah Palin. Both are entertainers who crave attention and are happy to make lots of money. Commentators such as Sarah–or Rush-or Bill-Glenn Beck keep themselves relavent by appealing to peoples' ignorance. Unfortunately this also has the effect of keeping foolish people in the dark about politics; and robs the political discussion of what should be a focus on real issues!! All such "demagogues" are harmful to America!!!
Yes they were Muslims, and they were extremists. But O'Reillyis right to say they are Muslims. The Muslim community would do good to come out in protest the extremists but they don't. Why is this?
I applaud whoopI AND Joy for their convicyion? Is this a joke? They both should be fired. They're two of the hosts! You never leave your own show!! They looked foolish and both should be canned ASa
This is like the chickens fighting for the rights of the fox to enter the chicken house. And Osama is laughing his head off in his cage about Americans who are helping him to spread Islam in the Western world.
Why would anyone watch this show to begin with?
Mmm...Silly premise...Given T. McVeight's Christian beliefs, no Christian churches should be allowed near the A.P. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma. Better yet, since he was carrying a copy of the Turner Diaries (a white supremacist book) no white people should be allowed to own any property close to the building...After all, it would be insensitive to all those black people that died in the bombing, given the fact that he did it to start a racial war. Perhaps also we should ban any Christian churches close to abortion clinics in Pensacola, FL, Birmingham AL, Wichita Kansas and many of the other sites where Christian terrorists have murdered doctors because of their religious beliefs...It would be the most sensitive thing to do for the victims...
A white person killed Martin Luther King. If someone went on stage and said whites killed Martin Luther King, we would have a fricken hissie fit over that. Be specific. Muslim religion is one of the most tolerant in the world. Although the nutties that were Muslim performed 9/11, they were extremists. Just like skinheads are extremist whites and black muslims are extremist blacks. Extremists come from many ideologies, but generally have one thing in common, suffering. And they want to exact that suffering on others. And then they pass it on to their children. So maybe we should not be making wide sweeping statements, like Bill O'reilly did. I'll admit he did apologize, but it was after he was corrected.
As much as I would want everyone to be free to build whatever they want everywhere they please, I have to say that many people do not have the balls to stand up and say that this religion of Islam is the worse religion at this moment in this era and it is all wrong with humanity UNLESS ALL Islamic women are free to say, think, write, whatever they want, when ALL Islamic women are free to love whomever they want whenever they want, are free to become Presidents of Countries, of companies, Judges, Teachers, Doctors, Engineers, UNTIL ALL THESE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of oppressed human beings are free, Islam and all its teachings and sacred books is NOT a religion of peace and WILL NOT have my respect. No No, No, and NEVER!
So, since the Westboro Baptists Church protests at Vet funerals, that means that All Christians are protesting at Vet funerals. Violence in the name of God does not make it Gods fault or the fault of the believers. Blame those fanatical and insane terrorists. Stop generalizing!
and as usual the the blond girl just sits there and says nothing or does nothing as she agrees with Oreilly. Good for Whoopie and Joy for standing up to a biggot.
OMG Ventura was Right Look at this pic of Glenn Beck
Yes, the 'ladies" way over reacted. How embarassing for them.
GOD,in one form or another will be the end of us
"The terrorist activities were done in the name of Allah, not because all parties involved share anatomical traits. To have a building celebrating the religion that was the inspiration for so many murders near Ground Zero should be offensive to all, not just those of us who are enlightened enough to see past our own egos"
LivingOnForeignSoil I couldn't have said it better myself. It is disrespectful to those who died at ground zero and cuts the hearts of their loved ones. There should be a level of respect for those lost and their families.
Love him or hate him, O'Reilly knows how to stir things up. He hung out the bait and the girls bit. They should have heard him out and responded rationally. Instead, O'Reilly managed to get some press at their expense by merely making a generalization he knew would rub them the wrong way.
BTW: Last time I thought about it I came to the conclusion that men acting in the name of Islam murdered people at the World Trade Center. By definition, they were Muslims.
Anyone who defends Islam and those who practice it, as a peaceful religion and peaceful people group are either uninformed or liars. Do some research on the escatology of Islam. Willful ignorance is no longer an excuse. These people are intending to dominate whenever and wherever they are able. Time will prove this.
A religion is defined by those that are allowed to define it by those that practice it. Meaning those that say they are but don't do anything to change the preception of what is are just as guilty as those that create the preception what is. Christians are know as loud, mouthy, arrogant, and self righteous. But I don't see any Christians trying to change that perception. Therefore Christians are what they are exactly what they are perceieved to be.
I don't see any Muslims denouncing 09/11 and making a concerted effort to change the idea that they are a warring, dominating religion. Therefore, Muslims are what they are exactly what they are perceived to be.
The cleric that spoke about the ground zero mosque THREATED us. His speech was an ultimatum. And we appluaded him for it. You, America, are choosing to ignore the reality of what is. If you continue, you will lose, you will be dominated.
Again I say that willful ignorance and the resulting appathy will be our undoing.
Behar and Goldberg are narrow minded fools. They show it time and time again on their show if someone says something they don't agree with. They absolutely despise someone like O'Reilly because he is actually educated enough to make an informed opinion. They like bullying their "View" and they are unable to do so with someone like O'Reilly. Thankfully you have people like O'Reilly who can put these women in their place without even doing anything.
Have you noticed that comments not in line with the left-wingnut views of CNN mysteriously disappear when they are identified as "abuse?" Watch this comment disappear within minutes of being posted if it gets posted at all....
To paint it as "only Muslim Extremists" is a crock. I distinctly remember people cheering in the streets on the West Bank when news was breaking of the attack, that is until their leadership realized how stupid that was and shut them down. Were all those people extremist too? I doubt it. But that tells me a lot of Muslims enjoyed what happened, which makes this building offensive to me any many others. It's the same as raising their flag on the site of a victory. If you don't think that's how Muslims will view it around the world you're only kidding yourself.
I am responding to this against my best interest. Mainly because from what I see most people on here just want to be rude and ignore logic and demean other people – and that applies to both sides. However, the issue discussed on the view and the subsequent comments are important. Extremism is a personality trait. It can be applied to ANYONE from ANYWHERE and depending on their particular location and culture it might exhibit itself in some other way. But you cannot blame the religion. Extremists are like moths and religions are flames. Extremism is also a way of viewing the world – it's a black/white, us vs. them mentality that many on this board share with those they hate. In fact, those who want to blame the entire religion for what happened have more in common with them than they do with the masses though they would never admit it or even be capable of seeing it. Extremism feeds more extremism. Moderates are the answer – both in politics and in the culture clash and in the religious divides. Moderates are the only hope for sanity and they must speak out and be heard.
I'll summarize my point early: everyone was wrong. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Bill O'Reilly: they were all wrong.
The ladies were wrong in their unprofessional actions of walking out and name-calling; they are in the public and professional spotlight and need to act with proper decorum, even – and especially – in the face of the likes of O'Reilly and his button-pushing antics. Having said that, however, Mr. O'Reilly was also wrong inasmuch as his views, though having a right to have and espouse such drivel, were intentionally delivered to provoke a reaction from the "socialists".
Bill O'Reilly cannot seriously believe all Muslims were on the planes on 9/11 and steered the planes toward the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the one rerouted to the field in Pennsylvania. Considering reports of Muslims being among those killed on 9/11 makes it a rather difficult concept to understand, but why not? Not every Muslim on earth condones the actions of 9/11; the Islamic Center, from what I understand will be an interfaith center for the civil dialogue between those of varying religious disciplines, probably won't be a recruiting ground for terrorists. Inaccurate exaggeration deliberately designed to provoke others to emotional reaction instead of logical discourse is a sure sign of immaturity, just like walking away from such inaccurate exaggeration.
Why even invite that jack@ss in the first place?
If you don't live in Manhattan you have no business even forming an opinion about this. Stay in your own neighborhood and decide whats best for you, stay out of my neighborhood, muslims and all other religions are welcom to practice where ever they feel. Don't forget the mosque is already there, it's the community center that is causing the debate, and a Mosque was in the world trade center when it collapsed. Don't buy into the FOX b.s., this is political banter prior to an election, nothing more.
It's called "The View". Apparently it's OK to have a view as long as it's the same as Whoopi's. Yes! They overreacted. That seems to be the general "view" as a lot of America now. If you do not like what someone else is saying they're called "idiots, morons, retarded, tea-baggers, hater, etc."
Look, I love my country and my fellow Americans. I understand we're not all going to agree on everything. That's why we're a Republic, so we can solve our issues democratically. How many of you are adults and degrade yourselves by calling other adults names like a bunch of children, it's really sad, please stop.
Joy and Whoopi walk out and the devil dances with glee. Ignorance is his greatest shield. Keep denying the truth and the Imam Clerics words will surely come to pass...."The flag of Islam will one day fly over the White House". Me thinks it is there already.
Me thinks you are "whacked-out!"
Many people do stupid things in the name of Christianity. By the logic I'm seeing here on these comments, we should judge the whole Christian community for the acts of a few. These extremists did something absolutely unspeakable in the name of Islam but let's look at how many Muslims actually agree with them. Islam is the largest religion in the world. Let's all just condemn the majority of the 7 billion people on Earth, makes total sense.
I cannot believe the Bill O'Reilly – who I like but who is way to the right like some of the left wing nut jobs – thought that he would be able to go on a CLEARLY LIBERAL one sided view talk show like "The View". haaaa What was he thinking? Those stupid witches – excluding Hasselbeck – are left wing, socialist, loud mouth, intolerant, belligerent, foul mouthed, vile witches with no civility whatsoever. They DO NOT REPRESENT American and never will. They are washed up "has beens" who are useless in today's society. They couldn't even be civil to JOHN MCCAIN for crying out loud! I wouldn't watch that show or loud mouth Joy Behar's show if you paid me. It's like watching Keith Olbermann and his ilk. News flash – THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS FEEL IT IS EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL TO BUILD A MOSQUE NEAR WHERE MUSLIMS KILLED THOUSANDS. CASE CLOSED. And I'm fairly certain most Muslims are not supportive of Israel – do your homework, Behar and Goldberg!
Just because the terrorists made this a religious issue means nothing....... those losers that protest at military funerals are doing it in the name of christianity, what does that tell you?
It is easy who sides with whom by reading comments here..
All I can offer is proof of what is currently happening around the world..
Look at Serbia – how the country got torn apart to create a moslem nation, because of people who migrated there from Albania. Look at the Uighurs in China, wanting independence.. Look at what happened in France by recent moslem immigrants. Look at the Phillipines – Muslim Mindanao. Even they have to deal with Moslem extremists.
Now look at countries that dont allow Christianity to be preached. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, the list goes on and on. Are we protesting them? This country was built on judeo Christian principles. We have certainly strayed from that, and have invited trouble.. Proof: Crosses/10 commandments being taken down from Court buildings, etc. Did you happen to see who lead one of those efforts in Arkansas? A moslem female lawyer. They are using our laws to tear our beliefs down.. Then they will force us to impose their Sharia laws, first for their population in our country, and then finally on all of us, as their populations increase, because that seems to be their goal, come into a place, marry and convert a christian woman, have many kids with her, and also bring their countless relatives to this country, who in turn do the same. And this is all because we are bickering about Bill O'Reilly calling the 9/11 attackers moslems.. which they were, and in which religions name they carried out their attacks.. in the name of their god and Jihad which is a way to get virgins in the afterlife for them. Their religion preaches that the rewards are in the afterlife, much like Christianity, but, the difference is theirs condone killing infidels in the name of Allah, whereas ours says to turn the other cheek when someone strikes you!
How did you miss what Whoopi said??? She was trying to make the point that 70 muslim families lost their loved ones during 9/11. The only thing bleeped was a "b–s–" in response to O'reilly's statement.
I think Bill stated a fact without any judgement attached to that fact. The 911 terrorists were Muslim. He did not say all Muslim are terrorists. The question I want answered is, are they going to change the name of "The View" to "The Liberal View That Doesn't Tolerate Other Views"?
Whats not mentioned is that the same people who built and sponsored this mosque and another one in Virginia are the same group of people who ran the mosque in Germany where the 9/11 attackers were trained. I must admit its kind of goofy to see jewish women supporting the rights of muslims when if they entered the holy land those people would kill, behead them and keep their heads on a pole. Hasn't NYC had enough problems without this controversy?
OŔeilly´s reply to them here –> http://bramin.wordpress.com/page/2/
Hey – maybe Bill is right – after all, aren't all Catholics pedophiles, and all Christians Inquisitors and Invaders? Let's slap that big stupid brush on everything!
And the point about building the Y just zoomed over lots of heads here – picking nits and missing the point.
Where the prolem lays is that whensomeone of the Christian faith does something extreme a mojority of christians speak out against it and condem the actions. The reason I se why alot of people say "Muslims" did it is because tere was no such outcry from the so called moderate Muslims..Silence. I have worked with countless members of the muslim faith over the years and have conversations about this and the reason they say is because they are not allowed to condem their "Brothers", that is against their faith to do so. Maybe if they got some guts and would speak out more when there is such an atrocity carried out in the name of Islam maore people would be tolerent and not so quick to judge them as a whole for the actions of a few.
If O'Reilly cares that much, then why doesnt he rally to build a church in bagdad. What I don't understand is how quick people nowadays cast stones. But I love hearing the apologies. Keep the ignorance flowing O'Reilly, for the media, please.
Name calling (Patriots vs. Pinheads) is a cognitive bias technique often used to promote propaganda and is more than frowned upon in higher functioning discussion and debate. What he's saying is that anyone not in the upper right (authoritarian-conservative) quadrant of the political compass is a pinhead…and then he'll readily throw in Reductio ad Obamaum or Reductio ad Liberalum in relation to anything Muslim?
Considering how theocratic any discussion of anything American conservative has become, that he purposely (!) said it was "the Muslims" that attacked us rather than radical militant fundamentalist terrorist Muslims is more than suggestive of Christian Conservatives vs. the Great Big Evil (Muslims) dualism, which is just another rendition of same old same old The Forces of Good™ vs. The Forces of Evil™ dualism that can be used against entire religions, gays, women, and even other Christian denominations, historically.
He's going to wrap this garbage of his up in the American flag, in patriotism?
That he’s infuriating is an understatement but and I ‘d prefer to see someone confront O'Reilly on his tactics, to name the tactics he’s using to his face…without it being dismissed as just a liberal vs. conservative thing!
This is not 100 percent correct vs. pinhead world (yes, I realize both “sides,” heh, used the term pinhead).
They both wrong but O'Reilly's errors were profoundly egregious and are so on an international scale, with the loaded religisized dualism there. The world has become a gold fish bowl, with technology and all.
The labelling is there to let people with a low iq know just how he feels about certain people. When a religion has Jihad as a way of life, and attaining virgins in the afterlife, and its followers subject women to below human standards (wear a hijab in public), and allow easy divorces by men – utter talaq 3 times and thats it. and allow men to have multiple wives so that they can multiply their children for Allah, then that's what you get. Christianity on the other hand does not have Jihad written in the gospel as preached by Jesus. If anything he said to turn the other cheek if someone strikes you on one. He preached compassion and brotherhood for all mankind and look where that has led us? A doormat for the other religions to walk all over us.. France is living proof of what happens when you let them run you! Watch out America! There is a reason Saudi Arabia wont allow bibles to be circulated anywhere in their land. I challenge you to get permission to build a small chapel, or even a religious center anywhere in their country, let alone Mecca or Medina!

It's not labeling, it's **name calling** and it's not okay to excuse any tactic, no matter how wrong it is, in the name of political posturing and dualism. You made it more than clear you're a fan of Christian Conservatives vs. the Great Big Evil (Muslims) dualism. I made it clear I'm not a fan of this, and why.
I have a very different direct and personal experience with Muslims. I've been in Paris, France. Here in America, I broke bread with people of different religions, including Muslims, for years. I was consistently treated warmly and with much hospitality. And they knew I wasn't a monotheist of any stripe (no, I'm not an atheist of agnostic either). For every Muslim you see out there burning cars, rioting, or yelling jihad, there are many more who are excellent people and neighbors.
"Not Karen," as you call yourself, you're blatantly subscribing to the Christian Conservatives vs. the Great Big Evil (Muslims) dualism and deem those who don't agree with you as "low IQ," which is just more name calling, essentially.
Of course, it' doesn't help your case that many people with high IQs, IQs higher than yours, don't agree with you. Left, right or center, trying to claim that only people who have lower IQs don't agree is a dishonest claim and just a cheap shot.
In the U.S., 50 percent of all women will experience domestic violence, many will experience other forms of domestic abuse (emotional abuse, incest, financial abuse, the list goes on...). Well over 1,000 female teens and women will die from domestic violence attacks on a yearly basis. Women still routinely make less than men, often for doing the same job.
So while I wouldn't want to wear a hijab, and women certainly have it better here than in theocracies, we're not without concern in how we treat women and each other in our country.
Also, the bible is full of religious war stuff, if you bother to read it, but so few Christians do (read the whole thing).
And why mention that we can't set up a church in a Islamic theocracy? Thankfully, we live in a free country, a country that allows freedom of religion, and not just for the one you like.
(By the way, a quality Christian theologist can tell you that your misinterpretation of "turn the other cheek" is a common one.)
When are you Americans going to realize that the Muslims hate you guys they see you as infedels the great satan and think all of America is like Hollwood moraly bankrupt having livied amoung Muslims I can tell you this becase what they say in front of you is not what they say behind your back so WAKE UP AMERICA it was Muslims who attacked New york ,Mumbai Madrid and I can go on and on there is a holy war and idiots like Woopi and Joyce are living in a dream World AMERICA STOP PLAYING POLICTICALLY CORRECT GAMES PLEASE WAKE UP before it is too late
HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE NAME OF GOD?ANY GOD?
but here's one thing I don't get. Until today the majority of "whites" are still blamed for the years of slavery that African-American were exposed by a minority of rich heartless people 200 years ago. But today, they just want to isolate what happened in 9/11 to a few radicals Muslims, having said that, why don't apply the same rules to what happened 200 years ago?
Before you start casting judgment on a religion you need to take a step back and look at the "Christian" religion. Christians have murdered millions of people over the past 2000 years because they didn't believe in Christ. Who knows who's religion is correct? No one! We have a bible that was written by men, not God. They wrote what they thought should be and what should happen. All of this was done 500 years after Jesus left, died whatever you want to say. Religion is corrupt and has been ever since it was invented.
Goldberg and Behar are too old to be children and too young to be senile. I guess that just makes them CRAZY.
I wonder how Whoopi would feel if the KKK wanted to build right next to her house.
Ignorant comparison, as the Islamic center does not advocate nor promote violence of any kind, or spreads any type of violent rhetoric... The KKK does. A more valid comparison would be "I wonder how Doctors feel when they see Christian churches close to abortion clinics where one of their peers got murdered by a Christian fundamentalist for conducting abortions." (and there has been a LOT of those over the years) And I'll tell you the answer. They don't care, because as educated people they are able to understand the difference between Christian fundamentalist and regular Christians.
The only two people dumber than Bill O'Reilly are Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. What a bunch of staged political propaganda B.S.
It's ironic that Joy Behar would complain about hate speech when she is one of the most hateful people on TV. She might try to masquerade her hateful comments as comedy, but it's not.
Its funny to me that the show is called "The View" but when someone has a different "View" they walk off set.
"The" View, there can only be one view, and if your view doesn't match "The" view, then we walk out. haha, Again, this was just staged propaganda by large state run media.
The View invited him on there. He is a controversial figure and unfortuantely speaks what a lot of people think. If they felt that they could not handle it, then they should not have appeared as hosts. That is why nothing ever gets resolved. liberals are just as bad as conservatives.
We have gone too far with our political correctness. The truth is that Muslims did attack us and it is perfectly fine to speak the truth. Furthermore, if Christains had attacked us in the Name of Jesus; Christians around the world would have stood against such an evil act but Muslims around the world were dancing in the streets. Why don't they respond?
Is it becuase we are infidels and in general they support acts against anyone who does not bow down to thier false god, Allah?
As a woman, i am completely ashamed to be of their gender after seeing this display. Behar is an idiot, and it's a shame about whoopi...i used to think she was cool but she has become the ultimate crumudgeon. The two of them preach tolerance and this is what they dish out?? Heaven help us.
Let me get this straight. Goldberg and Behr can wise crack and make smart ass sarcasm towards everyone, disagree with anyone who doesn't follow their beliefs, and over talk anyone who is trying to have a mature conversation...yet walk away from someone who might stand up to their behavior? Give me a break. Good for O'Reilly for standing his ground. Goldberg and Behr – get some class, ladies. Clearly, O'Reilly is a personality force that can't be bullied with your big mouths.
Whoppi got very upset at the Muslin comment. She believes they should be able to build the Mosque in ground zero. I wonder how she would feel the KKK built a charter house right next to her house. Bet she would sing a different tune.
Dumb cow Behar was just following a pre-planned exit in her actions. She needs to drum up controversy for her failing tv show. Goldberg was just playing the role of "monkey see, monkey do". Neither of these dummies was factually feeling "outraged" at the comment. They just needed an "act" to stoke attention. Absolutely pitiful loser behaivor. As for Muslims "F–k'em and their BS.
I feel sorry for Bill. He is so hated.
It seems the women of The View can say anything about anyone and it is no big deal, but let someone else, no, let a man speak his mind and they throw a womans hissy fit and walk off. Rosie and Tom Sellek all over again. "The View" should be called "Our View."
While O'Reilly's statement was not precise it was true. I doubt that either Behar or Goldberg would have considered it demeaning if he had noted that Christians recently burnt Korans. Walking out was childish. What they should have done was to point out that the men who destroyed the Twin Towers were extremists and not representative of most Muslims. It was good theatre designed to draw attention and get more people to watch their show which is after all what they get paid for. It was not a good debating technique because it left O'Reilly's statement to stand without rebutal.
Bigots just don't get they are bigots. The View is not a news program, it is qusi-entertainment news...they are not held to a standard of impartiality. On the other hand certain news channels, such as Fox News, are held to that standard and O'Reilly fails it every time he opens his mouth. More importantly if he says something the odds are it is a lie. If he says it is night I'm getting out my sunglasses. There is only so much Joy and Whoopi should have to take and O'Reilly went way over that line...and he just doesn't get that he did.
@Patriot- People like you neighbor make up the majority of law abiding muslims in America.
I've met muslim tailors and businessmen overseas who wouldn't let me go on my way after we did business until I had lunch or at least a cup of coffee with them. They were very knowledgeable of current world matters and very enlightening, the last thing on their minds was perpetrating Jihad on the U.S. He explained that the intrigues of the Cold War created political power struggles within the muslim states and between them that have empowered radical fringe groups that see global superpowers as the root of all evils, although they themselves pine for power status by influencing and forcing themselves into the circles of government, he said that many muslims do not agree with their Draconian policies on daily life, but are powerless to do anything about it, that they would like to not be used as ropes in the East-West, Extremist-Christian tug of war. That sounded about logical to me.
Thanks to Mr. Ventura for adding a bit of perspective. Bill O'Reilly and his ilk are stirring the pot full of distractions. Who cares if it's hate speech, this type of diversion is much more sinister than that simple notion. The fact that we are all so caught up in this contrived controversy is the real problem here. Look around people. All of the wealth and trade currency of this country is controlled by a foreign owned cartel. We have traded our hard fought liberties for a false notion of security. Wake up!
Keep your head in the sand, you dhimmi fools. You will love life under sharia law.
Freedom of religion is freedom of ALL religion – not just one's own religion.
The people that want to build the community center are Americans. the people that sold the property are Americans. the developers are Americans. the construction workers will be Americans. The people that will use the community center will be Americans.
O Reilly makes more money than any of the idiots he panders to.
If he stop making shock and awe creating statements then he looses his brand power.
Lets think about something by branding a religion as terrorist we may actually be supporting the terrorists cause by inciting the majority of the moderates.
This is actually very simple. Factually the comment was correct. They were Muslims and they did kill us. Some people insist that we draw distinctions between Muslims and "extremist" Muslims but that's really just being PC. The modern history of Islam and its interactions with the West have been highlighted by terrorist acts again and again. This isn't just a one off event. So it is perfectly logical to call the terrorists Muslim because 1) they are, 2) they commit their terrorist acts in the name of their religion, and 3) in general the Muslim leaders around the world are either mostly silent when such acts occur or outright support them.
'Jeff ' put it very nicely, what may be an acceptable idea is not always a good idea.
I can honestly say that I am not proud to be American, because I would feel beyond ashamed to align myself with such uneducated people. Do you realize how much violence, war, and terrorism has been commited in the name of Christianity?
Behar reams Christians all the time. Her and Goldberg were itching to jump down O'Reilly's throat. He was explaining why he felt President Obama was distancing himself from voters, using the ground zero Muslim center fiasco as an example. The women on the View really only want you on there if you share their View. Very sad. They ought to all be put out.
Islamic terrorists destroy 2 building landmarks in downtown New York and then an Islamic place of worship is erected on the site they destroyed. What a great victory for Islamic terrorists.
I wonder when we can erect a Methodist church in Saudi Arabia or even enter their country wearing a cross?
I agree with Bill. Shame on Barbara for allowing Joy to disrespect Christians constantly for no reason but make Bill apologize. Muslims were responsible for 9-11. of course everyone knows the difference between extremists. The show has not reflected the VIEWS it is more one sided. it is not FAIR at all. I believe the 70% is really higher because not very many people got the call.
BILL SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED THAT WAY AS A GUEST!!!
They weren't Christians, Buddhists, Eskimos, Australians, Girl Scouts, Cyclists, Bridge players, etc...
They were Muslims.
If you believe Bush, a handful of suicide terrorists defeated the entire US military on 9/11. They were allegedly from Saudi Arabia. The USA then attacked two countries that had nothing to do with 9/11 Afghanistan and Iraq. That is illegal. You can't do first strike attacks. That makes thousands of US soldiers aiding and abetting those wars war criminals guilty of a capital crime. You then proceeded to pound those countries to rubble using banned weapons. Then Obama put up to auction for US and European oil companies all of Iraq's oil reserves. The war was an oil theft after all, just as the Iraqis claimed. It would be preposterous to expect ANYONE to love you Americans after that behaviour, much less Muslims.
What do you expect from Joy and Whoopi? Two big mouths with no manners whatsover! I have zero respect for either one of them.
Unacceptable. Imagine if O'Reilly had walked off the set – the View would be criticizing him, and the MSM would be reporting the story differently.
Joy is a feminist bully and an elitist. We expect her to be disrespectful to guests. I am surprised at Whoopi, who is on the extreme left, but usually maintains self-control.
I'm unnerved by some of the comments made on this subject. How many wars were fought in the name of the Christian God (i.e. the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, etc.) Oh and let's not forget why the US slaughtered all of the American Indians... Because we thought the Christian God wanted us to have this land. How many churches did we put up on their land??? Our First Amendment grants us the freedom to practice whatever religion we choose. Last I checked that includes Islam. They have the right to build an Islamic center anywhere they choose, just as Christians have the same right for their churches. It was extremists who brought the towers down, and we are partially to blame for their extremism (I'm not saying we are to blame for their actions). The more we try to impose our beliefs and squash theirs, the more extreme they become. It's fuel to their fire. I'm not a Muslim nor a Christian. I'm an educated New Yorker. Perhaps more people should educate themselves before opening their mouths!
Wade, I am also educated (not that it matters), I agree in freedom of religion as a fundamental right of Amercians. But in the case of muslims its just a cloak. None of the other religions here mention that they should kill you and overthrow your government if you appose them. Muslims do. By definition, using thier koran as proof, they are a violent terrorist organization.
I have heard that the BAPTIST's want to erect a CHURCH and SEMINARY on the main road into Arlington National Cemetary, where our honered heroes rest.....This after BAPTIST's desecrate the funerals of our lost soldiers.....This outrage HAS to be stopped.....Yes, they have the RIGHT to do it, but is it WISE ?
This is a tough issue. I really can't stand Behar or Goldberg and nobody to my memory has walked off the set when they said anything really stupid. At the same time, O'Reilly should have made clear from the start that it was extremists who attacked on 9/11, not ordinary Muslims. If I had to side with anyone, it's Bill but only slightly.
When I see muslims getting together as a group and marching down 5th avenue arm in arm with Jews and Christians to denounce what their fellow muslims did, then I might feel more charitable. Even better, maybe they will allow infidels to enter Mecca. Until that time, I will continue to believe that the building of anything muslim near ground zero is extremely bad taste? Can they do it? Of course, this is America. Can I complain and have the right to tell them and anyone else it is in bad taste? Of course, this is America. Can Whoppi and Joy show how incapable they are of accepting opposing points of view and how little class they have? Of course, this is America. Even better that they displayed it on national TV for all of America to see.
Bill O'Reilly is of Irish descent & Catholics as am I I never remember anyone going on about Irish Catholics in the US during the IRA's bloody bombing campaign in Britain. I seem to remember people like Peter King weeping about "The Bold IRA"
Noraid fundraisers here.
The View is a generic group of women who are not always informed. O'Reilly is a racist and an idiot who has an extremely hot temper. The main problem with the world today is it's run by men. Christian, Muslim, Jewish, etc. it doesn't matter. They have a tendancy toward violence. The wars are run by them, the prisons are filled with them, they abuse our children and women. I wish they would stop proving my theory right.
Don't democrats label ALL tea partiers crazy right wing extremists?? Isn't THAT the exact same thing? Talk about a double standard.
I blame the holocaust on those pesky christians.
That Bill is nothing but a sad hater. He should have been FIRED over this, yes fires... just like the many news anchors and others in the media who were fired for saying something somewhat anti-Jewish, even after they apologized. The double-standard is what makes this whole thing troubling. He is inciting HATE. He cares for ratings, not how people feel or who he is hurting. He has ZERO Muslim friends because if he did, he wouldn't have said what he said. Goes to show that he only surrounds himself with people his kind and doesn't care to know people and meet others and learn about different people that are outside his 2×2 circle. The idiot needs to have some respect for the President and needs to show some respect to the people hosting the show. What he said to Joy was inappropriate, basically telling her to shut up! He needs to be FIRED.
joy and whoopi should move to a different country. I haven't watched this show in several years and pretty much thought it had disappeared, but no, here it is on the front page again because of these two wacko's. I guess I'd include Barbara also, as she is suppose to be the boss and let them know what is expected of them for any guest. Guest????? Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck still there?
Bill was right...Behar was wrong. She just doesn' like Bill or for that matter any conservative. Just last April, Behar compared the prayers of former President George W. Bush to a terrorist’s Muslim prayers to Allah. Behar even provoked those in her own Catholic faith when she suggested in January of 2008 that Catholic saints were mentally ill.
Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? Stop with the political correctness...everyone is rediculously sensitive these days. This is America...Say what you think!
I am starting a new religion today! one that says its ok to slaugheter everyone who doesn't think the way I do. Also we will remove your government and establish our own with no separation of church and state. We will pretend to be "peace loving" to your face while ploting to take over. We will use your weak stance on freedom of religion to exploit you. .........Sound good? Oh you say that is against the law? Then why do we alow the muslims to do it? Wake up people, Every country in the world that has muslims in it ar at war with them. Could it be the muslims are right and ALL of the rest of us are wrong? No, I say " if your problems is with EVERYONE else, then your problem is you ".
The ladies OVEREACTED unless they can empirically prove that even just ONE of the terrorists were NOT muslim then they have room for debate otherwise the statement "the muslims killed us" is 100% accurate.
Are there different shades of muslims? Of course there are extremists and moderates in ALL religions. They could have clarified that instead of behaving like childish menopausal women thinking they are in a rag.
Then again I've never seen a single episode of the show so I guess I didn't miss much.
Thanks to their behaviour, I think I'll go get myself a copy of that book.
Barbara, why do you keep hiring such imbeciles as Joy Behar, Whoopie Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell? I don't watch The View and the reason is egoists like Joy Behar, Whoopie Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell.
Do you people forget that the thousands of Muslims were celebrating in the street on 9/11? Don't say it was just a few Muslims that disrepected our country and our people.
Love Whoopi, but she is a big time liberal. Behar is a straight-up idiot. HLN really lost points by allowing her to have her own show on their network. Bill could have been more poignant. He was a shade off point. I think he could have said "Boo" and they would have left the stage anyway. Sorry excuse for a ratings stunt.
I guess America is now declaring war on all muslim, do you really think you can win this war. Can we say Christians attacked us in Oklohoma and because the Germans are christians too..
You caused a lot of pain and these pin heads ultimately taking this country to hell
O'Reilly is such a dishonest person. He made a deliberately inflammatory hate speech, then tried to pretend he did not. He knows it is all on tape, and he also knows that his followers will close their lying eyes, they will trust him. He is slime. He is like a child craving attention who will do any outlaw thing to get it.
I dont understand what Bill said that is enraging people like Joy and Whoopi. Am I missing something? The terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 WERE indeed Muslim. (Which is what Bill was saying) That is a cold hard fact and anyone that wants to believe otherwise is in utter denial. Bill DID NOT say ALL Muslims are terrorists. People have it out for Bill and so they turn his words around.
O'Reilly is almost always wrong, but it was still inappropriate to get up and walk out.
How ironic. She supports free speech so much, that she refuses to listen and runs away, rather than listening to another perspective.
Why someone would walk out on a simplistic bonehead like O'Reilly is no mystery to me, what dumbfounds me is why anyone with a lick of sense would voluntarily walk IN on his knee-jerk rants. There seem to be some badly stripped gears inside this guy's brain-to-mouth drive.
Why would anyone take these blabbering idot broads seriously?
I'd like to see Joan Behar visit Pakistan without a bodyguard to spread her tolerance and love for muslims. Maybe when she has to pay an extra $40 to fly an extra checked bag with her severed head in it she might realize that the only moderate muslims are those who don't follow the word of the Koran.
When are you Americans going to learn that the Muslims hate you guys yes including the modrates they see you as infidels, the great satan and think all off America is like Hollyhood moraly bankrupt I have lived with them and heard what they say behind your backs all I can say is WAKE UP AMERICA speacally the libreals it was Muslims in 9 11 attack and Muslims in Mumbai and all over the World so STOP PLAYING POLICTICAL CORRECTNESS WAKE UP
He should've said muslim extremests did it, but, I knew what he ment, and so did any other reasonable thinking person in the universe.
The question is if they can place a mosque down there, of course they can. But is it appropriate for them to do so? I do not belive so.
Tell me this though, why is Baher getting her panties in a twist? She herself has said that anyone who prays has a mental disorder, or I guess she feels that only applies to Christians.
I can't believe I wasted time watching this clip. Frankly, I'm sick of hearing about this Mosque/community center. Build it, don't build it, I don't care. I certainly won't be going there. Let's talk about more important things eh?
To the person who used the David Koresh Cult as one example of Christian extremists, I beg to differ. When one man isolates a group of people, changes their lives to suit his "teachings", wants to rewrite the Holy Bible, etc. he is not a Christian. David Koresh was many things, but a Christian he was not!"
Then the same logic applies to Osama bin Laden and his followers. Neither he nor Koresh represent ALL of Christianity nor Islam, but people can and do lump them all together. That's the problem.
Typical liberal behavior! If they can't name call, shout over the person they disagree with, they run away from the conversation! Their pompous arrogance is why the November elections will be a solid victory for conservatives. People are tired of the leftist rhetoric spewed from the mouths of the hollywood left and leftist blog sites. For liberals, it's my way or no way! Apparantly, to Behar and Goldberg, it wasn't Muslims that took down the twin towers on 9/11?
Personally, I think the whole thing was staged. However, he did state a 'fact'... the 9/11 bombers were in 'fact' muslim. I personally don't like the religion because it teaches its followers that anyone other than muslims are infidels and should be killed if they don't convert. There is not ONE other religion on the face of this earth that teaches that!
Can't argue with the truth? Walk off the set. Hey, with Joy and Whoopi watching from backstage it was a much better show.
Kill all muslims and veiwers of the "veiw"
I'm officially finished watching The View – never cared for it much before, but these hosts really deserve minimum wage for what they bring to TV. There's absolutely a better use of air time here...come on networks, show us some quality programming instead of this nonsense.
Timothy McVeigh was from the Christian right, should we ban any churches close to the Oklahoma city bombing site. Would O'Reilly say " Christians killed us" in reference to that bombing. We are trying to convince moderate Muslims that we are not anti-Muslim just anti-extremist, it would be complete hypocrisy to deny the right to build even if it is a mosque. Bush himself warned against vigilante attacks against American Muslims, this would be vigilante building code.
Keep this kind of stupidity up and it won't be long before we are saying, "One nation under Allah" Muslims have been for centuries trying to turn this world into a 1 religion society. Christians have been fighting back over this for just as long. The extremists want to put society back hundreds of years in the name of their God. Christians look forward to the time of the return of Jesus Christ. I am a forward thinking person, so you know where I stand. When we start believing we should not offend anyone, we are going to a place where we cannot turn back. You will never eliminate all intolerance. If you begin to take the side of Muslim Sharia law, you have already put one foot in the grave. Are the women on the view ready to wear a burka?
Our country is so focused on being politically correct and sensitive to everyone's issues and concerns, why can't everyone understand that this is a time where we need to be considerate of those who lost their loved ones on such a tragic day. It is not Muslim vs. Christian - it is a matter of respecting the grief and memories of those who live with the memories of that day. What is baffling to me is that the Muslim leaders would rather force this issue than use this as an opportunity to heal the wounds of all Americans, of any and all religious faiths –
The "hosts" who walked off were unprofessional and ungracious as hosts. They missed a great opportunity to counter O'Reilly's views intelligently by indulging in childish theatrics. They, like O'Reilly, showed themselves for who they are. Barbara is right – and showed more class.
The act of walking off their own set was obviously pre-planned. Nevertheless, it demonstrates behavior that many liberals are exhibiting lately. It's an attempt to trump an argument with an infantile temper tantrum.
Muslims never do anything wrong. Just ask any of them.
Of all days, I was home to watch live yesterday. First I can't stand him, and second I think he is a liar. Second, I have to believe there is no way 70% of American's disapprove of the mosque that IS NOT AT GROUND ZERO but is 3 blocks away. If this is true, then we can't build anymore Catholic Churches (those priests you know) and no more Luthern Churches (I think Timothy McVeigh was one of those). And for God sake, no more Baptist Churches, pretty sure Eric Rudolph was one of them. Extremeists get the most PRESS. America is in a battle alright but it's not about terrorism anymore. In my opinion it's about taking the time to become educated on the issues. Yelling louder doesn't make it the right message to listen to. It's such a critical time people. It wouldn't have mattered if McCain had won 2 years ago. Bush left a flaming bag of sh-t on the steps of the White House for whomever was going to be there next. You can't fix 8 years of horrible lying and premeditated decisions in 2 years – it doesn't matter who you are. I believe our President has a GREAT capacity to do good for this country. Please get out and vote with a reasonable mind and let the Right / Republican's / Tea Party folks know that you are an educated, free thinking, American who believes that you do not want to become one the them....the new American Extremeists that are trying to tear our country apart word by word.
I support Bill ORiley's free speech, but I also think he's the personification of US citizens' inability to think critically. I wish more people viewed this hypocrit for what he really is...an entertainer and Republican spokesman or the opposit of Bill Mahr, for example.... Of course, ORiley isn't funny, he's got the same allure as a car wreck with injuries...you just can't look away.... Note that I did not say ORiley and Republicans are "conservative". Our economy is in terrible shape and our national debt & deficits exist due to selfishness. Selfishness isn't limited to one party or the other, but in general, the Republicans are currently setting the standard.
This show is not about an open exchange of opinions, it's about their open exchange of opinions. I had to stop watching this show. They were rude to the guests I really wanted to hear. Whoopi promotes races bias behavior. Joy is just totally closed minded on other opinions other than hers. Both Whoopi and Joy are unprofessional in their behavior. Walk off the stage because of a guest's opinion. Barbara Walters, shame on you for keeping this type of women on the show. Have an adult on your show. Stop hiring babies. I only watched this small little film clip of the 'VIEW', then I got me mad at myself for even watched it.
Muslims are people who practice Islam, and those 9/11 were extremists.
How many blogs have I seen where the Christianity was attacked because of the crazy Westboro clan. But whoa be it if one says that Muslims were responsible for 9/11, they were. Just as I know that as a Chrisitian, I have nothing in common with the beliefs of Westboro, I am quite aware that all practicing Muslims are not terrorists.
I also know that if a monument, building, etcs., was to be built in downtown OKC, that had anything remotely connected to McVeigh, there would be riots for days.
They want sensitivity for Muslims, well Muslims better have sensitivity for New Yorkers and the rest of America. Stop pushing the issue and move on down the road, there are a million other places to build your mosque.
I don't watch the View, but I do watch Bill Oreillyat Fox news. It is plain and very simple.,and without any argument, The Muslim extremists killed 3000 Americans. They have so much hate for the US. The Cordoba house that is being planned to be built on ground zero is in the history of muslim religion. Unless we Americans have not heard of its history, then we are ignorant of what is going on in the Muslim world. Wake up Americans, there is enough mosques in our country. Respect the innocent Americans killed on 9/11 or have we forgotten them?
If anyone has ever watched the Bimbo Behar Show, they would know she's nothing but an overated schmuck!
Joy Behar is so oo full of herself, can't listen to someone's opinion without storming off her job ? I don't watch The View because of her, sorry I tuned in just as this was happening to guest Bill O'Reilly.
Using the logic in a couple of comments!!! Because of Fred Phelps Westboro "Church" actions all christians hate US Soldiers?
Sounds like O"Reilley got the best of those two girls and I say girls because Joy Behar is a whinning little girl type, she does othing but whine all of the time, that is her thing. Whoppi seems to have lost her guts, they both could not handle it and so ran, they both ran! Wow, how mature of them... Quite frankly, I think they both should be fired.
No one said Christian Terrorist killed the families in Oklahoma City did they?
And for those siting McVeigh, please stop. He was an anti governement wack job. He did what he did because he was mad about what he saw as government excesses in things like Wacko and Ruby Ridge. He may have been Christian, but he did not do what he did as a self proclaimed defender of Christianity or because he was inspired by Christianity. You would be better served using IRA terrorists as an example (and I doubt the Cathoics would try to build a chucrh in close proximity to an IRA massacre nor that they would be defended if they did...by Joy Behar or anyone).
I am a Christian India, born in Saudi Arabia and educated in the American International school there. I know live in Canada. Talk about mixed up! But my point is this: I find it funny that Saudis, Pakistanis and other Muslims want to build Mosque's etc in countries like America, France and the rest of Europe, when in Saudi Arabia...there are NO churches, Christians are not allowed to even display bibles (you can be arrested or thrown out of the country in 24 hours) and you can't have religious meetings even in your home. Whereas they make such a big deal about women being allowed to wear the burka in France and Canada, in Arabia...foreign woman have to keep their heads covered, no one can wear shorts and they have places where families have to split up into the males in one place and females in the other. Don't get why no one talks about this double standard!
They were both right in walking out. O'Reilly is attacking all Muslims and that is wrong. It is a small percentage of fundamemtalist or radical muslims who are attacking people all over the world. I am not wild about the idea of them building a community center near ground zero, but our country is based on freedom of religion and they should be allowed to do it. The main thing that bothered me was O'Reilly's mannerisms. First, he raised his voice. He is supposed to be a professional and he does that all the time on his show. Second, he cuts people off when they are talking. He is a disrespectful and rude conversationalist. Third, it is as if what he has to say is "right' and everyone else is wrong. I used to watch him, and decided to stop when I saw him interview two muslim women, years ago, on his show and he was absolutely obnoxious to them. The media today is all theatre and that is bad, but I agree with Olberman, O'Reilly is the "worst" person in the world. Thumbs up to Whoopi and Joy and Obama.
Can we not say that "Men killed us on 9/11" or "people killed us on 9/11"?
Is that hate speach? Does that mean that I'm saying all men are terrorists or that all people are terrorists?
Fact: Muslims, in the name of "Allah" following the "prophet" Mohammad, stole some planes, ignoring the cries and pleas of the people there, and flew the planes into buildings, killing and destroying for their idea of "god".
It's not hate speach if it's true.
Ok fine.I admit that Oreily misspoke when he implied that muslims attacked us..I think this only happened because he was in a heated debate about a very passionate topic for all americans. My point is they could have reacted better instead of walking off stage. I expect a behaviour exhibiting maturity and self restraint from these two women to be able to listen without getting that emotionally compromised. And at the same time people,Oreilly, need to get their facts straight before speaking on national television lest they offend anyone.
While I in no way blame all Muslims, and I grew up with several Iranians who are great friends (and who abhore what happened), this thing on the view was insane. To be offended when someone says "Muslims killed us on 9/11 is crazy and is PC taken to the ridiculous. They were Muslims. They attacked because they were Muslims and declared a Jihad. Period. I amy feel bad for moderate Muslims. I may feel bad for my friends, but that does not change the facts.
Could we say, "MEN killed us on 9/11"? Specifically MEN as the gender that takes up arms to settle scores and wage war or jihad or whatever? It is a fact that MEN killed us on 9/11 and women did not. Shall we ban men from the WTC site and a radius of 3 or 4 blocks?
I think the folks have it exactly right when they say the extremeists win if they can get us to repudiate our Consitutional principles of freedom of speech, religion, and congregation. And they are winning with the pinheads out there...
I think we saw why it is called "The View" and not "the Views". Only one view is allowed.
Ten – An education from one of your elders. America was not founded on "freedom of religion" – it was founded on Judeau Christian values and "freedom from religious persecution". Where we have made our mistake is recognizing anything anybody wants to call religion as religion. If they want to practice Wiken, Satanism or anything else, they have that right, but we should recognize it as having the same values for our nation, therefore, we should not grant them the same status as Judeau Christian relgions.
Bill O'Reilly is a moron. Obviously he is taking the Sarah Palin approach of just saying anything ignorant.
Just wondering how far away would any Muslim building have to be to be considered appropriate? Or even better, where is the closest Muslim currently located at? Just asking...
What is it called 'THE VIEW' when the hosts are blinded by their own prejudices?
Yes this country was built on capitalism...
I hear there is a new talk show coming out with a new group of women, hope they drive View in the ground, bunch of old bitties...
As far as O'Reilly's statement...I'm not an oversensitive, PC crazy person like Joy and Whoopi and the rest of those broads, I get that he meant terrorists, America isn't stupid, we get what he was saying. Joy and Whoopi over reacted which is typical of them.
I stopped watching the 'VIEW' several years ago. Did you see in the clip that Joy Behar was sitting there quietly and then she jumped up and made her "I'm not sitting here and listening to this" speech. Joy and Whoopi looked like a couple of 5th graders that didn't get their way. I am embarrassed by the display of unprofessional behavior from these devas. I will never forget Whoopi Goldberg, in all her open minded wisdom told her opinion that only Blacks can say the 'N' word. She will continue to use the 'N' word because it's her right to use it. Everyone else is cannot say the 'N' word. I had to stop watching the VIEW. I did watch this little news clip. I'm even sorry I did that. Join me in NOT watching this pathetic excuse of a "open exchange of opinion " show.
Killers of 9/11 were Saudis; does O'Reilly approve importing their oil?
So according to this line of though, catholic priest that abuse boys are gay, therfore all catholic priests are gay?
If all muslims are extremist than all christians are aswell. Bill O'Rielly is a pinhead christian extremist who should be banned from tv for his hate of women and there reproduction rights
perhaps put a k.k.k. plaque on a black college wall or a nazi flag beside an Auschwitz oven
@Andrew That was a horrible annalogy. Black don't go into buildings and bomb them so that Black superiority can be acknowledged. That's crazy. I agree people shouldn't be punished for their religious but the way you tried to explain it was just plain odd. A better explaination would be because some Catholic Priests have molested some children that they shouldn't be allowed to build a cathedral. That kind of thing. That said I think building the mosque there is in poor taste. There is no denying that.
If you watched the interview, you would see that it actually started when Ms Behar quipped that most people thnk the mosque are ok with it to be built at the proposed site. Ms Behar lost it when O'
Reilly CORRECTLY noted that over 70% oif Americans DO NOT WANT the mosque built at the proposed site. THIS was based on an August CNN poll in fact!. Ms Behar could not accept this FACT and began her dramatics rather than allow OReily to defend his 70% data, attempting to drown him out when he did in fact note the CNN poll as proof. . She acted like a child who holds their breath, stomps their feet, and screams when they dont like what is being told to them. Shes not a professional, and her actions proved it. She should be fired and let someon on the show who can truly be progressive in ther ability to hear both sides of an argument. Liberals like Behar belie their supposed "progressive ablity to intelligently hear both sides of an issue"..they are open to alternative views as long as they agree with them first! If they disagree they will belittle you, or better yet throw a tantrum .!. Behar proves it.
This whole idea of building this muslim cultural center was only designed to cause trouble. As a combat veteran that served in Iraq I feel that if this allowed to happen that the terrorists really did win this war on terrorism. When are the people of this country going to wake up and see that Islam does not have any place in America?
What a tragedy in the media landscape. We've gone from Cronkite and Murrow to Whoopi and Joy. Of course, you have to question the sanity and reasoning abilities of anyone tuning in to hear these two simps and entertain anything they have to say. O'Reilly was on target: The people who attacked us espoused the Muslim faith. It rather goes without saying they were extremists, but the fact remains. That simple statement in no way condemns the entire Muslim faith and certainly doesn't demonstrate the vehemence and vitriol of the other anti-religious statements lobbed viciously on this and so many other CNN comment strings. The Muslim faith isn't an issue — except that little concept of jihad (www.jihadwatch.org).
Frankly, I'm not a fan of O'Reilly but he was right, at least in his full explanation of who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks. Joy and Whoopie can demean other religions, Catholics in particular, so why can't they listen. Catholics moved a convent further away from Auschwitz in consideration of the sensitivity of the Jews that were killed in the camp so why can't the Community Center/Mosque builder share the same sensitivity? Sure, many Muslims were killed in the 9/11 attacks but the Nazi's also killed millions of Catholics in the death camps, but that is not the point. The Jews were the stated target and largest single group killed by the Nazis. The Islamic extremists were the perpetrators of 9/11 attacks. The parellels are clear as to the proper human sensitivities on each matter.
It was completely unprofessional of Joy and Whoopi to stalk off like that. The guest was a known conservative-and he, like all of us, has the right to his opinions and the right to say them. Joy and Whoopi were grandstanding and are clearly trying to be politically correct. Yes, it was Muslims that destroyed the World Trade Center. Yes, Rauf has the legal right to build close to Ground Zero. And yes, all of us have the right to agree or disagree with the wisdom of doing so.
I quit watching The View several years ago. I find Joy Behar to be without humor. Her attacks on Catholicism show that, while purporting to be offending by Bill O'Reilly's remark about Muslims, that she is a hypocrite. I hate to think that anyone would think she speaks for all women because I am not impressed.
When did you every see a man host leave his show like that.Just proves the intelligence of these woman. This was a planned event, don't be fooled. If Obama was on and said the same thing about the Jews, they would be so far up his butt they probably wouldn't have heard it.
People, this is the entertainment business ... nothing more, nothing less. Will the "walk-off" and hate talk increase TV ratings and book sales? That's what it was all about None of those people are remotely qualified to do anything else but entertain.
Bill O'Reilly also spreads hatred just as Ahmadinijad. There is no difference except Bill has more listeners and they are all Americans thus the Americans are brainwashed by this stupid so called journalist. Any smart American will not listen to him.
Whoopi and Joy are the two main reasons that I stopped watching The View. Both are obnoxious loud-mouths that can't tolerate the opinions of those who disagree with them. And btw, I'm one of those people that feel it's inappropriate to build a mosque at the proposed site. There are other, less inflammatory locations where local Muslims can worship.
O'Reilly is certainly NOT an extremist. If anyone is it is that Joy and Whoopi. If you love America then YOU would NOT want a mosque to be built that represent the very people that killed many Americans to be built. As you know they did in Spain, it was a momument of celebration of what the Muslims had accomplished. People we are AMERICANS and we need to stand firm on not allowing Muslims or any other extremists group to come in and distroy what we have long enjoyed. FREEDOM! If anyone has an opinon different from these ladies they dont want to hear it. At least O'Reilly welcomes people on his show and when they disagree with him, he doesnt walk off the set. Shame on them what whimps they are. I believe in America and I will stand up anytime that my country is attacked and I would hope that true Americans would.
I just wonder what in the world these ladies thought when they invited him to be on the show in the first place? They KNEW who he was and his stand on many issues. Look, if you are going to invite a guest on the show, then be professional with your interview. Why should the interviewee agree with the hosts views? If they only want guests who agree with them, then only invite guests who agree with them. I think Whoopi and Joy are totally ridiculous in this situation. It was rude to invite these people over, knowing what their views are and then act shocked and offended when they say things that they disagree with! How absurd!
O'Reilly knew exactly what he was doing when he worded his answer so broadly. He love to be outrageous, he fancies himself "so honest that it's shocking". He goaded these women into a reaction and they went for the bait. Though I'm no O'Reilly fan, Whoopi and Behar lost in this exchange, when they again showed that "Liberal" no longer means "open to considering all ideas" – it now means just the opposite.
Goldberg and Behar are poster children for the extremist left, bleeding heart liberals!!!! This sect of people DO NOT want to hear the truth! THEY DO NOT RESPECT ANY OPINION THAT DIFFERS WITH THEIRS!!! THEY ACTED LIKE THREE YEAR OLDS BY WALKING OFF OF THE STAGE, BUT IT JUST PROVED MY POINT. THE NAME OF THE SHOW SHOULD BE CHANGED TO "THE VIEW FROM THE LEFT!" Thanks Behar and Goldberg for continuing to prove to us what low classed individuals the left wing extremists are! HOORAY AND CUDOS TO BILL O'RILEY! YOU ARE A CLASS ACT!
Hey guys, will you visit SaveStan.ORG a friend of mine with 4 young children is fighting for his life..... thanks
What a bunch of immature b%$#$s!! You invite a guy on the show – who you know is not going to agree with your point of view – and then walk off when he says what you know he is going to? As far as Ventura on this thing, he's a fool and needs to stick to wrestling....
Joy and Whoopie are SO out of touch with the 'view' of Americans. Can't take the heat.
I'd like to see both of them get a whoopin'
The collective IQ of Whoopi and the other no-name chick don't total up to O'Reilly's. I doubt he lost sleep over it. He was only promoting his book, so he used them as much as they abused him. That's show biz.
All the huffing and puffing won't help Behar's ratings.
I think it's pretty ironic that Joy was so upset that he seemed to group all Muslims together in his comment yet she does the exact same thing when talking about Christians. Those who live in glass houses.......
How do you tell the difference between an extremist and a non-extremist? Post incident investigation. The point being, they're identical when assimilated into Western culture. Extremists have learned this as a strategy, assimilate, keep a low profile and make subversive long-term plans when entering Western countries either in order to gain political/social power or opportunity for violence. Don't think that both strategies aren't intended to work together. Extremism is not always violent and plans to conquer the west don't always involve armies, tanks and genocide. The East vs. West extremist movement has begun to learn how to use what we prize most as a weapon against us... individual rights and freedoms. They have begun to understand that a long-term subversive plan will eventually give them control in a democratic Western society than initial violence will ever afford them. Certainly there are those who still want to make a statement and kill Americans and Westerners in strategic locations and at strategic times, but it's a mistake to think of them alone as extremists. I'm not condoning fear-based reactions of severely limiting freedoms, but at the same time, we can't be naive any longer about who thinks of Americans as enemies and what sort of behavior they will engage in to damage, corrupt and/or eliminate us. That's what I take from O'Reilly's comments. I know he typically overstates his arguments, making them too broad and too severe, but that's his intent. It's his MO and it's certainly no secret if you've ever heard him speak, or read anything he's written. Certainly the hosts of The View were aware of this ahead of time. I don't doubt the sincerity of their theatrics, but theatrics they are nonetheless. Theatrics such as Bill O'Reilly himself might engage in.
I wish those two communiston the show would never come back! If you invited a guest to your show and know what he is standing for...why ever you show up for work? It was a bad behavior for a public. They should respect what he was saying and try to proof their point. The problem is that MUSLIMS are mostly exstremists. No one even until this point stand up and said we are the people as you are and we ASHAMED what happen. And the idiot who wants to built the mosque is continuing trying to scare us if we donot build than more attacks will be in the future. What a hell is this????????????????
So, if the guests who are INVITED on the show do not agree with the liberal minds of Behar and Goldberg, then the two hosts pack up their Barbies and go home just like children would do??? I REALLY hope I never hear the words "narrow mind" come from their mouths again. These people are NOT professionals!
The view knew what they would get with O'reilly. What he said was his opinion. Joy and whoopi should have taken his words as a grain of salt and move on. now, they are tarnished because they put themselves on his level by walking out. Always take the high road...next time he is on the show, they need to remove themselves from the segment. it's obvious they don't like him...everyone has opinions so to get upset about it is so not worth it, and again simply because O'rielly believes what he said, doesn't mean it's everyone's belief...c'mon View women, stay focused..you have a great show!
Regardless of how ticked off the ladies were, leaving the set was unprofessional.
Orchestrated from start to finish.
"Okay, so – as soon as he says something controversial, we'll walk off in anger..."
Hell, Bill may have been in on it.
Why didn't anyone overreact like this to churches built in Oklahoma City after Timothy McVeigh killed hundreds of people, including a day care center full of children? He was to Christianity what the hijackers were to Islam.
I think they have every right to build where they want to, because this is America! But it shows poor taste, and lack of judgement. Why would you want to make a great deal of people unhappy? Why not just build it a few blocks away?
My Uncle was MURDERED by Muslims on September 11, 2001. The political correctness of the left in thiscountry don't know how to call a SPade a Spade. Why defend these people instead of your own country and loved ones?
How about what a joke the "ladies" of the view are for walking off the set when they hear something they don't like. Real professionals there...
Muslim extremists are still Muslims. Every religion does have its extremists, but the Muslims seem to be the ones killing the most people. Not talking past. Talking about modern times.
CNN are a bunch of censoring Book Burners
Jesse Ventura is the best.
CNN in censoring again! They will regularly filter or not post. Another tactic is to "allow" your post but stick it way back in the order so noone will read it. If you scroll back and look for post where the date and time is out of sequence you will find the "JUICY" stuff. Big brother is watching
Ms Behar has only one opinion and that is her own. She seems to be unwilling to even listen to anything she is in disagreement with. I agree with Bill. He ruled the conversation. I like Woopie as an entertainer but she is too liberal for me. Sherry for the most part is just dumb. Bill is not politically correct and that is good. Political correctness has gone way to far. Sometimes the truth hurts, but, it is still the truth.
Sorry but i agree with O'Reilly, totally inappropriate to build anything to do with Muslims near ground zero. I'm also a Toby Keith fan.
Some of you people are ridiculous. I agree the way he said it wasn't the best way of making his point, but nothing he said was untrue. Behar and Whoopi did what liberals do, they can't win an argument with facts so they get all emotional and erratic. Those two women made themselves look like idiots.
Can all you kids go back to your coloring, the adults are trying to talk here.
When did OFFENDING SOMEONE BECOME A CRIME?!? In America we have this thing called FREE SPEECH! Hey, the hater's are forcing on to build their mosque that OFFENDS the majority of American's. Can't they be sensitive and MOVE THE DARN THING elsewhere? They laugh as we bicker and they bully on. You won't be laughing when they behead you! You think you are gaining favor for defending them? HA! Your heads will come off just as easily as the one's who openly oppose them! WAKE UP AMERICA!!
If I were to start a new religion called the Church of Tom, and as part of my religion it was our goal to kill anyone who did not agree, establish my absolute rule in this land, with no separation of church and state, you would want me locked up as a terorist (and rightfully so). So why are ALL muslims not arrested and charged with terrorism?
Fredom of religion is a shield Muslims hide behind, They are a terrorist organization and thier Koran proves it.
I think MSNBC reported around 70 innocent Muslims (who were mostly American) were killed in the 9/11 attacks. I believe that MSNBC also reported that there were two mosques (or Muslim praying areas) that were located in WTC 2 and obviously destroyed in the 9/11 attack and there was a Muslim praying area (please excuse my terminology if that is inaccurate) in the Pentagon. Because of the security clamp down after the attacks, some Muslim family members were denied the right to travel to the funerals of loved ones they lost.
As usual, O'Reilly is way out of line with his broad brush. With the amount of BS and fear FOX news stokes and plays on, their propaganda strikes me as the being result of news terrorists – scaring Americans into bogus or over the top reactions based upon their inaccuracies.
Muslims have no problem lumping all Christians together so what's the problem with Bill speaking his mind? It's true.
Not a Bill or Fox fan but Bill's right. It was muslims who attacked us. Most people are igonorant sheep who want to sound "nice".
Fredom of religion is one of our greatest rights in America, but it should not apply to muslims, and here is why:
Thier "religion" avocates the violent overthrow of anyone who opposes them (including our government). Then to establish thier own law (based on religion with no separation of church and state).
If I were to start a new religion called the Church of Tom, and as part of my religion it was our goal to kill anyone who did not agree, establish my absolute rule in this land, you would want me locked up as a terorist (and rightfully so). So why are ALL muslims not arrested and charged with terrorism?
Because people have to actually commit a crime and be convicted in America before we lock them up. Duh. I hope you're a troll, because that is such a stupid thing to say.
Your right Audrey, they do have to commit a crime to be locked up. And they HAVE. It is a crime to threaten to kill someone, it is a crime to threaten to overthrow the government. And that is exactly what they have done. Not only did they say it, but they wrote out thier intentions in thier manifesto to take over the world through violent means, the name of the book is called the koran. Read it. Study it. Get educated befor its too late.
Not a fan of Bill O'Reilly or The View, but, he won. He got under their skin, got them worked up, got them to leave. They lost it and, thus, lost.
Bill O'Reilly 2, Joy/Whoopi 0.
O'Reilly represents the worse we have in people. He's a pinhead (funny because he calls other people these types of names.)
O'Reilly like the Devil couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it.
Read the book "BECAUSE THEY HATE" by Brigitte Gabriel. She grew up in Lebanon and lived a life similar to ours, UNTIL the MUSLIMS came in and took over, completely destroying any and all who opposed Islam. She lived in a shelter for several years fearing for her life daily. Going out at all meant to risk your life. She KNOWS the true hate of the Muslim's and in her book, you will learn Islam is NOT a peaceful religion. Muslims are taught from childhood to hate and to lie, in order to take over ALL who oppose them. You who are ignorant of these facts defend them and their rights to build this GZ mosque. They laugh at you because building a mosque on land where they killed "infidels" is their way of showing the world they have had a victory! Brigitte WARNS America to wake up – do NOT believe even your so-called Muslim friends who are moderate/peaceful. When it comes down to it, in the end, they WILL turn on you in defense of Islam. Why? BECAUSE THEY HATE you and all who oppose Islam. Read the book!! Bill O'Reilly, shame on you for APOLOGIZING! You could've said: "No intention of offending anyone, but this is my opinion like it or not". Since WHEN IS OFFENDING SOMEONE a crime?!?!?
It's sad when people get upset over the truth. Not a fan of O'Reilly, but I don't disagree with him her. Who cares what Whoopi Goldberg thinks?
Muslims DID kill us on 9/11. Why did Goldberg and Behar flip out over that comment?
Are we so brain-dead that when someone says "Muslims killed us on 9/11" that we can't comprehend that this statements doesn't apply to ALL Muslims? Do we have to say "19 Muslim Terorrists killed us on 9/11 but they don't represent the entire Muslim religion"? Does every statement have to carry a legal disclaimer?
The political correctness in this country has gotten WAY, WAY out of hand and its killing political discourse. When someone can't say "Muslims killed us on 9/11" because its offensive...how can we carry a discussion anymore?
Muslim Terrorists killed thousands of Americans on 9/11. That's a fact. Covering up that fact because it ruffles our political sensitivities or doesn't help our political cause is flat-out wrong.
Nobody watches "The View" anymore so Barbara gets O"Reilly on the show to boost their ratings. Liberals like Whoopi and Joy can't handle the truth so they walk out. Just shows you how unprofessional they really are. Dan Rather must be their mentor.
I don't watch or like Fox news. I don't like Bill Riley either. But in this case he was right. It was a group of "good muslims" with the guts to do what thier religeon tells them to do. Freedom of religeon is one of the greatest rights in America. We live by it and are willing to extend it to others and peacfully coexisist, but THEY ARE NOT. The mosque is a vicory trophy. They laugh at us as we slowly open the door for them. When they are strong enough they intend to establish Sharia law, and it is not only OK but is commanded to kill non-believers (you and me) if we oppose them.
Wow uhhh the attackers were Muslim....and they did it in the name of their religion....MUSLIMS attacked us on 9/11. Its a proven fact.
People can live in a fantasy world where this isn't a religious war....all the way up to the day that they find themselves living under sharia law and the books and icons of other religions are banned (as they are in Saudi Arabia, the "center" of the muslim world). There are muslim extremists who are engaged in a religious (Islam) war with other religions and cultures. The truth is sometimes hard to hear and horrifying, but this IS a religious war being carried out by factions of Islam, and it has widespread acceptance as valid in the muslim world. The hosts tantrums won't change that fact.
Just another example of extremist-left wing emotional women who can't intellectually face the simple truth of the matter that O'Reilly"s comments were materially correct. Liberal extremist feminists are no different than extremist Muslims – the only thing they differ on is their morality and what they each hate. They both love the same sole thing – their own kind and the jihad against the notion of objective truth and the common dignity of all humankind. The View needs to be taken off the air for promoting extremism, irrationalism and emotionalism. It gives all women a bad name and uses the most unfit role models imaginable. What a waste of bandwidth.
An A typical democrat (like many of these posts), can't nor will tolerate others opinions/views.
All are drama queens, including Bill, and are all cut from the same cloth.
Bill is correct...truth hurts!!! Joy and Whoopi looked like fools, which surprised me of Whoopi. Joy? Not so much.
I really have to laugh at people trying to make comparisons between Christian violence in the old testament and the CURRENT radical muslim violence of today. Since when do you compare behavior of violence that happened that LONG AGO with a christian culture that has evolved and come out of the dark ages to become a mostly peaceful , non violent movement?
YOU GO BILL GIVE THOSE STUPID B>>>>> SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT .LIBERAL PUKES
How soon we forget. Star Jones walked off the set on The View when the ladies were interviewing a pimp. I don't recall Barbara scolding Star. Bill loves to push buttons, but you DON'T group a whole religion or a whole group of people based on extremist. I'm glad he apologized for that. It just confirms how he looks at other groups and people that don't look and think like him.
I have actually read all of the above postings, and WOW! I have a great many things I would like to say. O'Reilly is quoted as saying "Muslims" are the ones who attacked and killed us. It is my understanding that those who attacked us were Muslim Extremists NOT the Muslim faith in general. There are extremists everywhere in this country, whether they are Christian, Jew, Protestant, Baptist or Jehovah Witnesses. We as a country need to punish the individual NOT the religion. By saying it is wrong to build a Muslim Center near ground zero is saying that this country is a hypocrisy, not allowing a group of people to express themselves in a manner that is not hurting anyone is a violation of human rights and civil liberties. Go from one extreme if the Center is not allowed to be built then don't allow the KKK and other extremist groups from holding public rallies and inflicting emotional distress on the Minority groups of the U.S.A. I am a Jew, and I am also a pure-blooded American, I believe that O'Reilly said what said and he has the right to voice is opinion no matter how we may feel about it, Whoppi and Behr voiced their opinions by walking out. This is not the first time walk-outs have been done, when you disagree with a speech or lecture or sermon you have the right to walk away.
Muslims did not kill Americans,Al Quaeda did,a terrorist organization, not an entire religion.I think right wingers need to just go back to watching NASCAR.
Uh, Muslims did kill us. What else are they. Africans? Catholics? I didn't know that there are extreme Muslims and regular Muslims. So, are there extreme Bapitists and regular Baptists? It was more than one Muslim who attacked us right. The plural of Muslim is Muslims. If I was murdered by a group of Mexicans, we say Mexicans. Thats not refering to the entire Mexican nation. They just walked off becuase they don't like to hear anybody elses opinion other than their own loud mouth opinion. Thats their job. If I walked out of my job, I would be fired.
Joy doesn't like the facts, so she walks off? What an immature reaction to the truth. I agree they should be able to have their mosque anywhere they want, but Ventura is an idiot. Conspiracy theory? Really? Do steroids deflate your brain as their inflate your muscles? I've never seen the show and if this is an example of the stupidity being presented to the public, I won't bother.
Maybe they should change the name of the show to “Their View"
They should both be reprimanded or fired for their unprofessionalism.
I think they both did this on purpose and was it was just another drama queen moment for them "a ratings thing"
has everyone just forgotten what happened on september 11. bill is not wrong. were not building churches in the middle of baghdad . I believe the women on the view got offended that our golden boy president really isnt that great. The liberal media and ignorant hippies make me sick in this country. Im almost ashamed to say i serve this nation and have known men who have died to give you the right to build that mosque. I am not racist against muslims but you need to understand that ground zero is our history, our tragedy and to build that mosque there is a spit in the face of america.
"Old testament, plenty of violence there" Do people not realize that they are referring back to a time in history which is LONG GONE and the Christian violence they speak of no longer exists??? (Except by a SMALL percentage of nut cases) The extreme muslims are an enormous factor in TODAYS society because they are a huge group and growing....plus they still follow a doctrine of violence that Christians haven't practiced in 2,000 years so QUIT saying Christians are just as violent. Christians (unlike a large group of extreme Muslims) have EVOLVED into a civil religious factor today.........
Why would O'Reilly even want to share a stage with those goofy women? Did he really think those liberal flames were going to treat him respectfully? Hell hath no furry like an offended liberal.
I would rather poke my eyes out with a red hot poker than watch that show-dont care WHO is the guest...
I believe that they should be allowed to build the mosque, however I do believe that it is bad taste. The mere fact that they tracked down this spot, as close to ground zero as possible, is a tacit admission that their religion is associated with the disaster. they recognize that this was an islamic attack (extremists though the attackers may be).
Now, I have no problem with muslims near ground zero. I mean we are all supposed to be united against the extremists, right? So what do the muslims intend to do? Do they intend to use this opportunity to reconcile the problem of extremists in their religion?Do they intend to show that they care about what happened and want to make it right? do they intend try fix the mistakes of their religion's maniacal fundamentalists? no, of course not. by choosing to build a muslim community center, serving their own self interests, it shows that they don't truly care about the tragedy or the victims. This is simply a publicity stunt for this islamic group and they are exploiting the deaths of thousands to attain it. That is what is distasteful. By putting a mosque at ground zero is not a tribute to the victims, it is a testament to islamic self-centership. Its like if a husband buys his wife golf clubs just so he can use them himself. it is just infantile.
And honestly, I do hold islam responsible for 9/11. not each individual obviously but the religion itself. the Quran is packed with violence and hatred. Muhammad himself was a mass murderer. The Quran mandates totalitarian theocracies. Moderate muslims ignore the flaws in their holy book, what goes on in the middle east under sharia, and the jihad that is as strong today as it has ever been. They dont do anything substantial to combat it. instead they indignantly shoehorn themselves into places where they are not wanted, showing now reverence for the victims of their religion. islam has shown me that when it is not violent and utterly inhumane, it is indignant, infantile, insensitive, or, at best, blissful.
I do not respect Islam but I respect its rights. they can legally build the mosque. I wouldnt want to stop them. They have a right to damage their own image into something that is completely unlikable and detestable.
Who really cares what these chickenheads say or do anyway?
I'm simply amazed that anybody cares about this story or anything that those 2 airhead bimbos say or do.
His statement is more true than not. Does anyone remember the video from overseas of Arabs/Muslims dancing in the streets after the World Trade Center Tower came down. Are we to believe that those are not extremist too? There inability to disapprove of the attacks speak volumes of what they believe.
As a teacher of politics and social history and as the mother of two children whose father is Muslim, I am saddened and appalled at the state of our nation. At what point did it become right to condemn an entire people for the acts of a few nut jobs. Those Muslims who commit crimes in the name of Allah do not speak for the majority of Muslims, nor are they truly following the tenets of the Islamic faith. It is against Islam to kill, just as it is against Christianity to commit murder. Nonetheless, in both faiths there are fundamentalists who manipulate and twist their religion to meet their needs. Let us not however, presume that the cruel acts of a few speak for the many. What Bill O'Reilly did was a form of hate-mongering. Since the terrible tragedy of 9/11 it has become the modus operendi to demean and hate Islam. This is no less dangerous, hateful or ignorant an act than acts in the past which discriminated against black children wishing to attend white schools, women who wanted the right to vote and immigrants who desired freedom and opportunity in a new nation. Finally, there is an Islamic quotation that says, "No one becomes someone on his own; No iron becomes a sharp dagger alone." If we truly wish to understand why there are those who wish to do us harm in the world, perhaps we should ask ourselves how America has contributed to the problem. Let us not forget that Osama bin Laden was once our ally in the Afghan war against the Soviets. It was only when America abandoned the Mujahedin after the Iron Curtain fell that he and many others became the enemies of the U.S.
One word. Apathy. Fun huh? you also could probably throw pride in there, because no one will ever admit when they are wrong, even more so considering they can tell lies that agree with the countries agenda and at the very least, feel justified. It's a sickly insane situation, and most are too lazy to see it for what it really is. not to mention, the majority don't read a single book after HS, they sure aren't if they are joining up straight out. Insane. Now lets make them teachers ::rolls eyes::.
I thought the 'view' centered around discussing controversial topics? Walking out on the show is a strong message – agree with me or else I walk out of here. Nice example for how not to behave.
Funny...The lady's actions made this a national news story, which in turn draws a lot of attention to O'Reilly's book....which is exactly what he wants. I'm sure he is very happy with how they reacted.....
Amazing, there are still idiots out there that listen to this guy. He is NEVER right....EVER....I'm simply beside myself that people are so filled with ego and pride that they don't even realize it in the slightest sense. Clueless, and lost. How many times can you be wrong? seriously.....and still have your own show....talk about the need for education in this country.
Of course he was correct, Muslims perpetrated the attacks of 9/11 – but so did humans. It would be more meaningful and constructive to say specifically 'radical Muslims', which distinguishes them from the masses of Muslims who would not perpetrate such horror. True many Muslims who would not be called 'radical' did sympathize with the attack (and even celebrated it) but many more certainly opposed it...
Both sides: he was a guest on their show and they behaved very unprofessionally.
Hes a loud mouth and needs to learn to respect other opinions.
Semantics. Bill has a right to express his opinion on television. it's the right of any American. They claimed to be Muslim (the extremists) so isn't he correct? I may not agree with the tone he used, but he is correct. So why would anyone really give a crap what these two women think anyway. But being that the show is called the "View" I guess that accounts for the real issue here. He was making a statement on their show and they didn't like it. But yet, they can say whatever they want and tear down the image of anyone they want. Go Bill! Having fought for our country in Afghanistan, I appraise him for speaking his mind on TV and on the that ridiculous show.
Not representing the values that I grew up with that's for sure, that being said, not surprised your current position and outlook all things considered. Everyone will be right by mistakes once in a while, how bad is that? he's right by mistake and they love him for it. No wonder your messing around out there lol. Come on.....this guy is an example of the type of people we have to blame for all the idiotic problems we have, way to make sure it continues. That's real patriotic.
as fat as those two hogs are, I'm surprised they didn't trip, fall off the stage and get fractured skulls.
Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are ridiculous and need to get real.
So O'Reilly can't say something that is correct/legal but Muslims can? What he said is insensitive and broad but not false. The 9/11 hijackers were Muslim. Much like the Islamic center has legal opportunities to build there. Both actions were low on tact.
Facts are facts. Until proven differently Muslims DID attack us on 9/11. How can anyone dispute that? Whether you want to reclassify them as extreme Muslims or not they are still Muslims. As for the ground zero mosque they want to build. Unfortunatly they have the right to do it however it shows the Muslims lack of compassion for the victims of the attack on 9/11 by Muslims. Build the mosque down the street a few more blocks. Americans are getting weaker by the minute.
It is a disgrace for HLN to let Joy Behar walked off the stage. After all O'Rielly could not just walk into the VIEW by himself without invitation from Behar. O'Rielly has never hidden his opinion about Obama. Beside, why do you bother call your program the VIEW?. You should call your program "ONE VIEW ONLY". HLN should ask Joy apologize him in person. Otherwise, HLN should fire her, the way CNN fired Rick Sanchez. After you are under the same company. You must apply the same policy to everyone.
Bill O'Reilly's comment that Muslims killed us should also apply to Christians killed us, too. Timothy McVeigh bombed the Alfred P Murrah building killing Americans. But I think everyone will say that his religion had nothing to do with it. To me he was a bomber and a Christian. So all christians are killers? Stop the stereotyping. People that have views like O'Reilly I do not catagorize as Right Wing Extremists.
Perhaps Whoopi and Joy should be subject to Sharia Law.
I have to say I agree with him there..............nothing like that should be built at ground zero – its like a slap in the face for all the lives that were taken that day.......they need to find another location!!!!!
FIgures, the liberals (especially Behar who makes my skin crawl) can dish it out, but can't take a dose of reality. That's why I quit watching the show...Elizabeth, and mostly Barbara were the only ones wtih a lot of sense. How professional to walk out of a show! At least Whoopi has some incredible talents that make me lean towards forgiving her. Behar's got nothing, and that includes class!
On O'Riley's part that was a provocation, a publicity stunt which went wrong. It was a smart provocation at that for anyone knows that highjackers were muslims. O'Riley touts himself as Harvard graduate, so he cannot be an idiot. Therefore, it would have been counterproductive to water down the outrageousness of what he had said with a discussion of subtleties, which he knows very well. Perhaps, this discussion of subtleties was a script that he brought with him on the view. It blew in his face, however. Kudos to Goldberg and Behar!
Let's turn the tables. Let's say all the guys that crashed the plane were Christians, doing it in the name of Christianity. The left leaning liberal media would have had NO PROBLEM saying that it was Christians that caused 9/11. And the crazy clucking hens on the View would have been leading the way. Bill O'Reilly can be rude and abrasive (as rude as some of the comments Joy Behar has made on TV? No way) but he pretty much tells it like it is and many on the left find the truth hard to take.
Suddenly, I have a lot more respect for "The View".
If the muslim cultural center is wrong, then why are "we" building so close to native american land after "we" killed so many of them?
These two excuses of women are out of their "gourd." Since when only their opinion counts?! Give me a break!
One good thing did come out of this experience: The View's audience saw these two moronic idiots for what they really are.
Wow! And these are the same two women that kiss President NObama's butt whenever he appears on this moronic show. Barbara Walters used to be a respected journalist/TV host. Is she loosing her marbles?
America, this is double standard at its best.
I'm a little surprised that he was even invited on this show. I don't know if he is even capable of speaking the truth, let alone speaking intelligently about any issue that has 2 sides! I give the ladies a LOT of credit for their restraint. I'd have used the opportunity to tell him how horrifically he consistently embarrasses himself, what a disservice he does to all of his viewers by spewing garbage and hate, and how he should really just be quiet!
Women overreacting and throwing temper tantrums? This is news?
Not all Muslims attacked us. This country was founded on religious freedom. We should respect that.
I wouldn't have walked off......I would have simply said three words: Alwaleed bin Talal.
Joy is such a fat fuuuugly dumb c unt. Who cares what that ancient old hag thinks. LOL
Joy Behar is an idiot.
They should've just shouted him down like O Pinhead does on his joke of a show.
Good for Bill O'Reilly ; probably the first time in years that those old broads got wet.
O'Really knows exactly what he"s doing, its what he's paid to do. It's similar to the fact that, during the 2008 election season, Fox – including O'Really – used Obama's middle name 300% more often than any other news outlet.
Acting like openly vocal and aggressive people like O'Really aren't operating on something as simple as bigotry is ignorant.
The question isn't whether O'Really knows what he was saying, the question is why so many in this country support a message and pathway to hate.
As someone who lost 2 ppl in the World Trade Center Towers I feel I can speak. My husband died in Tower # 1 and my step-daughter who was just about to begin college died when #2 collapsed. Add the grief and pain that comes w loving 2 loved ones + countless neighbors and friends from my husbands office I think the mosque is a terrible idea. I don't care if the build one, but by showing respect to the place where I buried my husband and stepdaughter, would, in my opinion, change the views of many. I did not get their bodies returned to me for a proper burial. The site of the towers is where I go to mourn and remember them. I'm no longer angry but I fear I will become angry again if I'm forced to acknowledge a mosque so close to the final resting place of my loved ones.
As for Whoopi and Joy we live in a democratic country and we just can't walk away when we don't like what the other is going to say as in the case of O'Riely. By coming back "because you apologized" makes them sound like 3rd graders on the playground. They need to grow up.
O'Reilly is great lol! Tho Walters was right about demeaning a whole religion
They're ALL a bunch of pinheads...
Hey Deb....the only thing that needs to go on the VIEW are the four old hags that think the world is theirs and no one can disagree with them. They have nothing important to say...never have never will!
Pleny of Muslims are fighting WITH us in this war on terror.
In fact, the successes we have had so far would NOT have been realized without the support of the primarily Muslim countries that support us.
Frankly, Bill Orielly is no different than any talking head of any extremist group. They are exactly the same – so I hate them all (extremists of all religions/kinds), exactly the same.
The women on this show demean all women in this country. Their combined IQs are only exceeded by their combined shoe sizes.
Yeah, right. Joyless Behar takes every opportunity she can to defame and make fun of the Catholic faith and she throws a tantrum over O'Reily. Sounds staged to me.
It is amusing to read everyone's comments from both sides of the fence. Let me help both sides out for a second here. If your opinion is based on what you learned on the View or on Fox News your clueless. Both show are designed to entertain and not educate. Howard Stern is a radio shock jock. Both these shows accomplish the same thing in different ways. Fox does it to appeal to the strong right wing and gains ratings by enraging the lefts of centre. The view is just a nice safe everyone can get along, we need to stop antagonizing everyone etc. Which ticks of the right wing and makes the supports of the show get very defensive. Don't attack what I believe in! How dare you. Congrats you have all accomplished nothing. Now the act of stupidity we saw today does not take away from the fact that there is an issue. A mosque being built at the site of the 9/11 attacks is an insult for many reasons. If the Muslim community recognizes that the terrorist are Muslim as well as Terrorists it is massively disrespectful to the United States to pursue a mosque at the site. If you want the US and the rest of the world to respect you as a faith. Stop putting us into impossible positions. The Bill of Rights protects the rights to have a religious structure on that site but that does not mean it advances the understanding and the growth of that particular faith. It does the opposite. It creates battle lines. If the Temple Mount were to be destroyed in Jeruselem by Christian extremists dont you think the Islamic world would be a tad bit protective of that site. Do you think they would allow the construction of a church??? I think not. Was the world trade centre a religious site, no, but it does represent the very foundation of America. Why??? The terrorists made it that way by attacking it twice. To the terrorist the World Trade Centre represented the evil of America. It is time for the Muslims of the world to take some ownership of the attack and respect the fact that the World Trade Center site is as holy and important to our country as the Temple Mount or the Wall or the Vatican. Sorry
Alan, you have a very well thought out answer for why the mosque should not be built close to Ground Zero and I agree with you.
Taking Bill O'Rielly seriously is like watching Professional Wrestling and believing it is real!
joy behar is the most hypocritical piece of crap that there is but bill o reily is also a fake
I hate to break it to Larry the anti-intellectual, but "LIBERAL" is not a dirty, pejorative name to call someone. It is actually a compliment.
Liberal, by definition, means "favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, especially as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties OR favoring or permitting freedom of action, especially with respect to matters of personal belief or expression."
I would hope that every person in the United States is LIBERAL by these definitions, but some prefer only to be reactionary, negative, and conservative to the point of ridiculousness.
The left is vile. Time to divide this country in two. No interest in reconciliation
Whoopi is a man. His real name is Herman Limone
whoopie is a man
O'Reilly is a buffoon. But Whoopi and Joy are a joke. What he stated was a fact. To take such offense at a simple factual statement is stupid and probably grandstanding. Why anyone would watch this show is beyond me.
So Bill O'Reilly acted and spoke just like Bill O'Reilly always does, and Woopie had a PC hissy fit, just as Whoopie is paid to do, and Joy (quelle suprise!) sided with her. This is a story? Hissy fits are exactly what the show's producers were hoping for when they sat the abrasive conservative O'Reilly between those liberal democrats. It makes for good television. And O'Reilly has gotten major press coverage, by coincidence, for his little book. I didn't even know he had a new one out until I read about this stunt - and a stunt it is. He baited those women, and they gladly took the bait. It's all a big nothing.
Anyone with half a brain knows that 911 was an inside job. But even if Muslims were behind it, banning Mosques at ground zero would be just as goofy as banning churches in Wisconsin, just because Jeffrey Dahmer was a Christian.
I am sorry, but he was stating a fact not mention expressing an opinion many Americans have over the location of this mosque. They were in fact muslims who attacked the US on 9/11. They did it in the name of Allah. Saying "extremists" does not change that...
Pretending that Mr. O'Reilly and others of his ilk are serious journalists with something meaningful to contribute is the real problem here. We might just as well ask Bozo the Clown for his opinion on economic policy or inquire of a goldfish how to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.
Bill O'Reilly for President! He understands the American people. Narrowminded pinheads such as Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg are so far "off" the beaten path–they in fact are the extremists. This won't hurt Billl O'Reilly at all because nobody seriously watches "The View."
Glenn and Larry and Omaba and Osama...look alikes!
The two cutns should have kept walking.
He said to put Beck and Larry one of the 3 Stooges...well put Prea Omaba next to Bro Osama...and you have father and son!@!
He said to put Beck and Larry one of the 3 Stooges...well put Omaba next to Osama...and you have father and son!@!
Old Testament a thing of the past? Let me see how many people want to live by the 10 Commandments today and get all touchy if you say "No thank you, iI'd rather not" well...it's a considerable sum.
Anyway I'd have walked off the show and not come back. Then again, I wouldn't have invited him. I learned long ago not to let barnyard animals in the house.
This is what I find ironic. We were attacked by extremists who happened to be Muslim. Now Islam is being pigeonholed by a few defenders of Christianity who sound exactly like extremists. They also get into politics saying that if you aren't right wing like they are, you have to be left wing and therefore are a terrible person. Isn't this black & white, concrete, apocalyptic view with the religion of others, religion of themselves and politics not the pot calling the kettle black? If you've heard the words "black & white, concrete and apocalyptic" together then someone was describing what are called thinking errors. The lack of frontal lobe activity here by those leaving comments truly scares me. They probably don't believe in evolution, dinosaurs or the big bang either but belief that the flying spaghetti monster who is on their side is somehow perfectly logical.
you know what, i'm sorry but technically he was right...the terrorists who carried out the 9/11 attacks were muslims. and building a mosque or muslim center or whatever it is, is simply not prudent or sensitive. i know o'reilly is kind of a blow-hard, but sometimes there's some logic and truth behind what he's saying. have we forgotten that we're at war with muslims in afghanistan and iraq?
Bill O'Reilly was wrong and why the hack did they have him on the show.....
This should be filed under "What did you think was going to happen?" of the day.
Why is it so important that they be referred to as extremists? I don't recall anyone in the media calling the Westboro Baptists "extremist Christians."
whoopi and joy are totally bangin each other
I think the Ladies were looking for a "I gotcha moment" to make a statement. Bill should have said extremist Muslims, but he was factual in that it was Muslims who flew those planes imnto the Towers. The Mosque is being placed near ground zero as a statement, whether people want to admit it or not. Some people in the Muslim world as well as the West will see it as a trophy of triumph.
you have LOVE ignorant radical liberals. he said muslims attacked us=TRUE statement. he didn't say ALL muslims attacked us and OMG he diidn't clarify muslim extremists. Liberals only believe in free speech if you agree with them otherwise they call it "hate-speech". O'reilly has a higher IQ than whoopi and joy combined. Look at all you little ignorant sheep liberals on here.LOL O'reilly NEVER said they couldn't build, he said it's insensitive! 70% of the nation thinks it's not right. and jesse ventura? fox won't have you on because you're an uneducated wrestler who thinks 911 was an inside job.LOL
Define 'radical liberal'.
FAUX News is populated by uneducated corporate lackeys. The reason why they won't have Mr. Ventura on is because they can't allow people to hear an intelligent person argue for the non-government approved view.
So much for your 'free speech'. Just keep whining about Behar and the rest.
Well. dont you get it? he has to make general comments, or else he would NEVER get it right. Funny you think others aren't smart because of a simple minded cut and dry comment like "Muslims did it". Derka Derr. Of course SOME Muslims did it, but guess what? guess who caused the worlds problems!!! Christians did it!!! yayyy seriously who is dumb here? hmm....let me think myself out of a paperbag real quick. People do not understand in 2010 that anyone that reads, researches, or has been there done that, will never listen to this dumbed down uneducated view on the world. Next.
Liberals place way too much faith that the Islamic religion is peaceful. Read the Koran. Read accompanying material regarding the history mentioned in the Koran... and THEN state your opinion.
Go Jesse Ventura. If people would do their research and stop listening to everything the lying corporate puppet media and murderous government says, they would see that it's not logical that a handful of Muslim fanatics who could barely fly small single-engine aircraft foiled the nation's air defense system and expertly guided not one, but two commercial aircraft into the WTC Towers in lower Manhatten. Never mind the fact that the one stuck last (the South Tower) is the one that collapsed first, even though most of the jet fuel exploded outside of the building. Remember the massive fireball? Collapsed at free fall speed, structural grade steel turning into fine dust/vaporizing in less than a second...Get the picture? It's time to demand answers for these things.
First off, I am not a Bill O'Reilly fan at all so I was not watching this episode, but after watching the video and reading the article, KUDOS to Whoopi and Joy for walking away from that bullcrap and Barbara needs to learn to stand by her team not knock them for their reactions. No one cursed at him or called him names they Joy just stood up and said she did not want to be around or a part of the crap he was spewing and Whoopi agreed, KUDOS for you ladies for having a backbone and making a decision for yourself and not following along with the network, boooo Barbara
I do hope they build there because the first act after completion should be a slaughtered pig on the door step.
@Matt "Some people just love to find a way to be offended." Truer words have never been spoken.
you gotta really suck ball to walk out when your the host. nicely done you hairy men hosts of the view
Would expect such unprofessionalism from Joy and Whoppi to walk off because of a guest's comments they don't agree with. They are both so narrow minded they should have kept walking and not come back(ever). Also to those discussing killing in the New Testament need to read Revealtions lots of death and killing big battle in the end. Battles usually involve killing.
"Christians killed us in Oklahoma" is a similar pinhead statement, yet there is a statue of Jesus Wept on the Memorial site itself. No one has complained about that. Ever.
I'm waiting for Bill O'Reilly to walk off the set, never to return.

ANYONE ELSE WANT TO DISCUSS THE PEACFUL MUSLIM RELIGION?..
These two women should be gratefull that they could engage in a conversation and discussion in a middle East country women are second class citizens not allowed to discuss anything in public or privately and more less with a male. If they didnot agree with O'Reilly opinion they should had said so and express theirs but they acted uncivilize and decided to walk out. One used profanities (Whoppy) showing no respect for the audience .Some People might think that the way they acted they might had been under the influence of some sustance or drug.Or where afraid to enter in a discussion because with O'reilly because his intelligence was superior to theirs
First of all I can't stand BO, he's a moron. Secondly I feel that it is an inappropriate place to build a Muslim mosque, or community center or what have you. I don't think people are mad at the fact that they are building a Muslim community center in NYC but I think its the location. You have all of NYC to build a Mosque and Muslim community center, why do they have to build it near the WTC, where yes Muslim "extremists" killed thousands of Americans of all races. Thats just it though, its not about race its about respect. Many political people, NYC firemen, and others who lost people in 9/11 simply said we don't care how or where you practice your religion, but respectfully, find another area in the city to do it. I don't find that racist at all. Why people make it into a "race" thing i'll never understand. BO's comment was stupid though.
All The View is anymore is an hour of self-promotion and promotions of shows on ABC. Only one view is accepted on the show, the liberal views of Whoopie and Joy. This was just a stunt to boost their sagging ratings. So what? Who cares?
Moms killed us, dads killed us, Christians killed us, Jews killed us, Italians killed us, veterans are particularly good at killing us. Even people upset about taxes killed us. Should we watch out for the Tea Party now? I mean, those anti-tax zealots are all the same right? Or maybe we should dissolve the military so we don't have to worry about another bombing in Oklahoma City or a sniper attack in DC. In fact, I find it patently offensive that members of the Oklahoma National Guard gathered in Oklahoma City to remember the victims. Oh wait ... Since when did bias, religious-intolerance and stupidity become politically correct again in the United States?
It is time for decent Americans to stand up for hate mongers such as O'Reilly and his cronies at Fox news.
It is ironic that so many people continue to put the hosts of The View down (and know so much about them – which could only mean that you continue to watch the show) and yet defend freedom of speech. Don't know why they (The View) would even consider inviting one of the worst fear mongering idiot on the planet on this show...these people (Beck, Palin, O'Reilly, etc) are getting rich and having a great future telling all the dumbest Americans that they have no future...
Larry hit the nail on the head and the post refuting him only proves it all the more. While Americans can agree that terrorists and those that support them are "extremists". I think most people who disagree so vehemently with Bill O'R assume that extremists mean the few in the fringe. This is just factually not true about Islam. It is why this is such a divisive issue. I understand that there are millions of peaceful muslims but the terrorists are supported, overtly, covertly, monetarily and logistically by some of the most significant muslim leaders AND GOVERNMENTS in the middle east. They are not a fringe group of radicals. That makes this very difficult, because while it is true that they do not represent ALL muslims, they are shamefully but undeniable supported by some of the significant power brokers of the middle east. So in some sense it was "Muslims", because a large faction of the religion IS ok with the violence they inflict. They believe we brought it on ourselves and it is OK that it is happening.
I would like to point out that some people have a misconception about the muslim population as a whole. I lived in the middle east and have many muslim friends. That being said the extremists are NOT on the fringe of islam NOR are they the majority. Fringe denotes a small percentage while what we would classify as extremest would probably account for close to 20% of the world wide islamic population. With nations such as Iran, Syria, Somalia and Palestine all having close to 95% extremism and nations such as Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Libya all having close to 50% extremism while nations such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Yemen, Lebanon and Qatar are closer to 33% extremism it is NOT hard to see that a large percentage of the islamic world is uneducated and filled with hate. I say uneducated since most of the extremists lack critical thinking and a large portion even lack the ability to read their own language. I say filled with hate since their actions speak loudly on their own. Finally I would like to say that most muslims in the western world and specifically North America are peaceful and law bidding citizens. The western islamic world however is not proclaiming loud enough that the extremists are wrong and are not turning in everyone they think may be an extremists. Who can blame them however since most of them are related some how such as 2nd cousin, etc. Most people in the world have trouble turning in or condemning family members including distant relatives. That lack of EXTREME and LOUD out cry by the western islamic population is what causes most (last count was over 70%) of the US citizens to think that islam as a whole has declared war on us.
I know we live in Foo Foo land, but please consider most do not. Consider that there are three groups of Muslim thought: 1: Those who were saddened by 9/11, but had mixed feeling because in their gut they felt that the United States (not Americans) still DESERVED it. 2: Those who where thrilled that 9/11 was perpetrated because they felt the United States AND Americans DESERVED it. 3: Those where were scared that it would impact them, but felt in their heart that the United States still DESERVED it. Due to the debate on the New York Mosque/Cultural Center proposal- all three groups consider the completion of the project, right or wrong, a victory. You as an American do not have to consider it a loss, I find meditation helps and denial works too.
All I can say is creaping Sharia. This country needs to stop listening to both these idiots (D & R's) and start reading about what Islam literally is (and has been) saying and formulate your own opinion... Just look at London.
Bill WHO !
I didn't see The View. I did see the Towers destroyed and all those people die. Someday someone will say it never happened, just like the Holocaust didn't happen. All of this in the name of political correctness. I saw the video of Muslims all over the world celebrating the fall of the Twin Towers. I never saw any remorse or shame from any of these muslim countries. Muslims always build a mosque at the site of their victories. There is one on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and there are others. This is how they mark their territory. There is not a Muslim in the world that doesn't recognize the true significance of this center. Only Americans who are blinded by their high minded political correctness. Does anyone remember the Emperor's New Clothes? Where are the synegogues in Mecca? Wake up before it is too late.
When a Christian extremist kills people in a terrorist attack, will you same people defending Bill O'Reilly protest the construction of a church anywhere near the site of the attack? Will it be ok to generalize and say, "Christians killed us?" Just curious.
The God I serve, knew this before he created the heavens and the earth. The story has already been written. He knows the end. We are in the end times of this world we live in. He is coming again to judge the good and wicked. We ALL have our judgement day ahead of us. The world we live in is dying. It is a sick world. Just look at the news. Killings, abductions, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.....Look at the world. Every country. We as a human race...it's truly sad. Everyone is not going to agree either way. Whatever way you choose, choose it. No one can knock you or say anything to you for that.
Jesse the Body? Really? For smart commentary?!?! Bwahahahahaha!!!
I don't blame them, Bill O' Reilly is a freakin idiot. It sickens me to hear this crap! He's using his rhetoric and position of power to incite fear and hatred, i mean god look at most of the posts on this article! "The muslims are going to take over America," "soon we'll all be reading the Quran and living under Sharia Law." It's just so ridiculous that people actually believe this, and why? Because of the constant stream of s&*t spewing out of the mouths of people like O' Reilly and Glenn Beck!
It is a fact that the attackers were Muslim. And they did not just "happen to be Muslim", as others have commented - their faith was central to the reason they attacked, even if that was completely at odds with the way most Muslims understand and live that faith.
The comment is offensive, but not because it says "Muslims" perpetrated the attack. It is offensive because it says they "killed us". Whom exactly? Certainly not O'Reilly. Americans? People of many nationalities were among the victims. It implies that Muslims are not "us", whatever that means, even though many Americans are Muslims and many died on 9/11.
"Muslims killed 3,000 people on 9/11" is a statement of fact, even if the message it conveys could be misconstrued. On the other hand, "Mulims killed us on 9/11" is an offensive and inappropriate statement.
Sad day for the american people if they build a Mosque there
Im impressed they took objection so clearly and can separate the people and what they did from what they said it meant
Who cares if a couple of liberal morons walked off the stage. Bill O'Reilly was totally right. It's past time for the liberal lemmings to wake up and see the truth and quit defending our enemy. Just makes them look like the traitors they truly are.
I blame them for walking off. They should have stayed and slapped the crap out of O'Reilly just for showing up to opine and bloviate.
I am really sick and tired and the damn feminism in this country, STFU AND GTFO. Straight men will always continue to rule the planet, well give you left overs...now stop crying. Go cook or something.
I work with two Muslim young men and we frequently discuss Islam and Christianity and the differences and similarities. I have learned that they believe the Old Testament and the 10 commandments are scripture. We have also agreed that it is a powerless God that would require mortals to kill those that "sin" and that it is men that pervert their religion for purposes of control and power not the religion. That said I would not have any objection to the ground zero mosque/Islamic center were it not for the name of Cordoba House or Cordoba initiative chosen by the Imam promoting it.
It is a thinly veiled reference to the Cordoba mosque in Spain. Historically the Cordoba mosque was build on the site of a Christian cathedral as a symbol of the defeat of Christianity by Islam after the Muslims successfully invaded Spain. One can justifiably make the assumption then that the Imam selected the site and the name as a symbol of the triumph of Islam over the U.S. by the 9/11 terrorists. This to me makes the selection of ground zero exceedingly unacceptable to me. My Muslim friends couldn't understand why so many Americans were opposed to it until I explained the historical context of the Cordoba mosque and the name chosen for the new mosque. After that they said "No wonder people are angry. The mosque should not be built there. It is very insensitive."
So many comments I couldn't read them all. Hope someone reads this! OK, you know this morning, I almost stepped on O' Reilly in my yard. Seems someone didn't clean up after their dog. Is O'Reilly Catholic? Hitler was. Most of his SS were Catholic or Lutheran. Christians! Muslims! Koran, Bible...God, what a mess! I'm just glad that the God I pray to is powerful enough to do his own killing! He's never needed my help! "Imagine."
I'm reading this and all I can say is....RIGHT? He doesn't need us to do anything. He is the beginning and the end. The Alpha and Omega.
'We have a right to hate muslims! They began it!'
Oh really? Are our history classes so underfunded that people think history begins less than 10 years ago? Here are some things about the middle east you skipped over that you may want to look up: Reagan's funding of the Taliban, British and American colonialism in the ME and the fight over the Suez Canal, the Crusades, the conquest of arabic lands by the Roman empire. (which, at the time of Muhammad has already adapted and enforced Christianity as its state religion)
History goes back far longer than 10 years, people, as much as you like to cherry pick only the parts that support your bigotry!
It's just a ploy to get ratings for both shows. This will just galvanize fans of these entertainers, but it's meaningless. This is an old controversy. It's just a publicity stunt.
I don't understand the liberal position of being a defender of muslims (radical or not) when they are so quick to denounce other Christians & Jews.
The other comment I would make is that you continually hear the liberals say that the Tea Party supporters are racists. They are quick to condemn a whole movement over a few individuals.Doesn't seem much different than what Bill said.
Bill O'Reilly is not stupid. He said what he said deliberately to provoke the hosts. I don't think their walking off is any less appropriate than Bill O'Reilly's constant bullying of his own show's guests, overshouting them, cutting them off, calling them names.
As for condemning an entire religion because of a few, somehow I don't see the outrage over the building of synagouges in Jerusalem, right near where jews of the Old Testament murdered Christ.
Anti-semitic? You betcha! That kind of rationalization resulted in the millenia of persecution of the jews by Christians. It's the lesson we should have learned by now! You can't condemn an entire religion based on the actions of a few! It is as hateful as anti-semitism!
Bill O pushes people's buttons by saying annoying, outrageous, obnoxious things, over the top stuff. He comes out swinging, that's his freaking style. Everybody knows this, at least all those that live on planet earth. So why didn't Whoopi and Joy see this coming?
The terrorists killed a bunch of bankers, and then we went over to Iraq and Afghanistan and killed a bunch of Muslims. I think we are even, on paper we came out on top, but they started it.
I just love the Bush cracks and lets feel sorry for Obama because he came into the White House a mess... Let's see, Bush comes in at the onset of a financial disaster (on Bill C's watch mind you). All sorts of companies cooking books. If you don't remember this or want to argue this fact, look up the dow averages just before the end of 1999. Better yet, take a peek at your 401K. You probably have the same amount in there today as you had 10 years ago. If that isn't enough, 9 months into his presidency, 9/11. That effected EVERYONE... I REPEAT EVERYONE. People lost loved ones, others lost jobs. It put a ripple into this nation and economy that will be felt long after Obama is gone and 2 or 3 more presidents take their oath.
So, if you want to us to feel sorry for Obama and the mess he inherited (which of course he reminds everyone of every chance he gets) then do the same for Bush. Call him an idiot or what you will, but if your really open minded and logical... you will see my point. If you don't, well then so be it.
Do they have the right to build a mosque (wether or not it is part of a cultural center or not) near ground zero: In the USA, yes, they do.
However, having the RIGHT to do something is not the same thing as having the WISDOM to do the right thing. If the developer (who is a muslim born and raised in New York) would simply consent to build the center a few blocks further away, it would be a non-issue. That would be the WISE, the compassionate move.
Most crimes in America are committed by Christians. Ban Christianity!
Oh Please, Jesse Ventura? Is that the best they can come up with? Pinheads.
President Bush and his cronies killed us. Our own Government went about 9-11 as a way to get into Iraq. President Bush was a bigger Terrorist than Saddam Hussein was to his own people, killing 100's of 1000's of innocent Iraqis.
I think the solution to this whole mosque issue is rather simple. If a mosque is going to be build on ground zero, then why not build other religious facilities by or near this particular mosque on ground zero? Let’s for example, built a Jewish worship center next to this mosque. And then we can erect a Christian Church on the other side of the mosque. And let’s not forget the Hindu and Buddhist temples either. In order words, we would have a religious center. Honoring all the major faiths in this great country call America.
By placing only this mosque at ground zero implies we are putting the muslins in a stage higher than other religious faiths. And I do not know the exact data of who died on that tragic day on 9/11/01. But I am certainly sure less than 5% of the falling heroes were of the muslin faith.
Ok, so I have been a huge fan of Whoopi's – I never agreed with much she had to say – but I always respected that she was able to hear other people's point of view even if she had a 180 view – today, I was crushed to see her walk off – when have you ever seen that before? It's obvious that it was a huge mistake – i hope she apologizes tomorrow. I am not a fan of Bill's but he deserved better than that.
When O'Rielly said what he said, why didn't Whoopi ask him what he meant? Is this what it has come to in America? we don't ask for clarification, we just walk out?
Steeve-o, You better keep reading as you totally missed that one. Damned does not even begin to suggest the idea that we are to hurt others if they don't believe. You know exactly what it means. It is about eternal salvation and judgement day.
Boy, you are really stretching far for this one aren't you.
Maybe you should quote: "Thou shalt not kill" it appears 7 times in the bible... both old and new.
Religion is the opposite of peace.
Government is the opposite of freedom.
Christians have killed Americans too (Timothy McVeigh, for instance). So, using O'Reilly's logic, it should be insensitive to build a christian church near the federal building in Oklahoma. If it is somehow different, then why?
Can't you people get your facts straight? McVeigh was an avowed agnostic. He wrote that himself in his own manifesto. Not a Christian.
To say that Muslims attacked and killed people at the WTC is the same as saying that Catholics and Protestants attacked and killed people in Northern Ireland, Christians attacked and killed Native Americans, and that Christians attacked and killed Muslims during the Crusades.
What a colossal lack of understanding!
When do we stop placing the blame on just one group of people and understand that it takes two to make a war!!!!!
This whole mess began because we stuck our nose in places and issues without the basic understanding of what we're doing and why.
It would be nice if these if these people who are so upset by the (yes, very general statement Bill made) would get this fired up at people on the left who do the exact same thing. For instance, Michael Moore. He said Bush and other key people knew 9/11 was going to happen and didn't stop it. For what possible reason would we do that? Or my favorite, that the war is just for Oil. You know how much oil you can buy versus the cost of running a war? It is time people stop watching, listening or reading this... because it is total crap. We lost the ability to think for ourselves and rely instead on Whoopi to tell us how to feel. Seriously, Whoopi? Bill O is nothing but a thinner, right leaning version of Michael Moore. He does not represent those of us who call ourselves conservatives, but Whoopi, being so well educated on foreign policy and matters of such complexity, please don't leave your faithful hanging like that. You can't just get up and walk away... who will tell us what to think?
Come on.. crack open a book or search your heart for right and wrong. Your voice in washington is about what you think. If your looking to washed up celebrities to help you find your way, your making a big mistake. What do they have in common with the average joe citizen? Do you think whoopi HAS to work everyday, or Tom Cruise or any other celebrity? Do you think they know what it is like to get up and go to work and support a family and make ends meet. No! If their latte is too hot, they have a meltdown.... They have no more connection with the american people then our representatives in washington. Seeking or listening to anything they say ... well pretty much anything... is a total waste of time.
1. 9/11 was planned and executed by Islamic extremist groups in the name of Islam–an intricate scheme by those who were trained to pretend friendship and solidarity with Americans and our American culture–beware wolves in lambs clothing, the Trojan horse, or even the lesson learned in Little Red Riding Hood.
2. Timothy McVeigh, while born a Christian, and attending church as a young person, became an Agnostic as an adult. McVeigh was not motivated by any religion–and what he did was not planned and executed in the name of any religion.
"The Guardian reported that McVeigh wrote a letter to them claiming to be an agnostic and that he did not believe in a hell. The McVeigh Tapes" Rachel Maddow Show, aired April 19, 2010 and Julian Borger,"McVeigh faces day of reckoning: Special report: Timothy McVeigh,", The Guardian Online, June 11, 2001 from Wikipedia."
McVeigh once said that he believed the universe was guided by natural law, energized by some universal higher power that showed each person right from wrong if they paid attention to what was going on inside them. He had also said, "Science is my religion." Michel, Lou and Herbeck, Dan. American Terrorist. pp. 142–143.
3. McVeigh's motivation was his prolifically and publicly expressed anti-US government hatred. He had no hidden agenda, created no false cover, and did not pretend to be anything but anti-US government. While he blamed the government on the deaths that occurred at Waco and Ruby Ridge, it was the Gulf War –in which he himself served and given a Bronze Star–that became the ultimate motivation in his mind.
" In 1998, while in prison, McVeigh wrote an essay that criticized US foreign policy towards Iraq as being hypocritical:
The administration has said that Iraq has no right to stockpile chemical or biological weapons (“weapons of mass destruction”) – mainly because they have used them in the past.
Well, if that’s the standard by which these matters are decided, then the U.S. is the nation that set the precedent. The U.S. has stockpiled these same weapons (and more) for over 40 years. The U.S. claims that this was done for deterrent purposes during the “Cold War” with the Soviet Union. Why, then is it invalid for Iraq to claim the same reason (deterrence) — with respect to Iraq’s (real) war with and the continued threat of, its neighbor Iran?
If Saddam is such a demon and people are calling for war crimes charges and trials against him and his nation, why do we not hear the same cry for blood directed at those responsible for even greater amounts of “mass destruction” — like those responsible and involved in dropping bombs on the cities mentioned above.
The truth is, the U.S. has set the standard when it comes to the stockpiling and use of weapons of mass destruction. An Essay by Timothy McVeigh". Outpost of Freedom. March 1998
McVeigh had contemplated suicide on many occasions. Anticipating that he would probably be caught and executed, he referred to the bombing as "state-assisted suicide".An Essay by Timothy McVeigh". Outpost of Freedom. March 1998. http://www.outpost-of-freedom.com/mcveigh/okcaug98.htm.
Terrorist Extremists who claim to be Muslim attacked us on 9/11. In my view, no God fearing individual would do what they did. Those are the acts of insanity. I have many Muslim friends that were absolutely horrified at the events of 9/11 and their most frequent question was this "How can anyone claim to Love and Follow Allah and do this?".
Next.. This country was founded on the principles of Freedom of Religion. As well as Freedom from Religious persecution. This Islamic center is not on ground zero. It is in fact several blocks away. I don't see where anyone can say building something to help educate people in a community, and serve people in a community is wrong.
Would there be objections if someone wanted to build a Christian church in that building? Or a Buddhist Temple? How about a Church of Scientology? No? Then the truth is, the reason you are objecting is because you are a Bigot and have fallen for the fear and hate mongering of a religion, because a few psychopaths use it as an excuse to murder people they hate because they are driven by their hatreds and use any excuse to make the wrong they are doing 'right' in their own eyes.
So now you do the same thing.
I think that is pretty pathetic.
Most of you must not be Manhattan residents! To be honest the last 9 years worth of discussion is ridiculous, none of you have any say if you were not affected directly. It's laughable when I hear some idiot from a town of 300 say he/she is scare they will get bombed...wake up...you people are not that important. As to the topic here....as usual, organized religion is the root cause....Die in the name of Allah...Die in the name of Jesus...most people in the US are clueless about the world beyond what their TV tells them and then they cling on to some radical statement made by a fame loving politician or personality as their mantra. Wake up and shut up...cause your knowledge of the situation and the world are subpar.
Goldberg and Behar have a spine and probably more cojones than the compost worms at Faux News. Good for them! Nothing wrong with being American, as these ladies did.
Whoopi and Joy, you 2 can dish it out but just can't take it. Somebody disagrees and you 2 just lose it. You both reacted unprofessionally and shouldn't be expressing opinions when you can't engage in the debate. You've actually demonstrated, on national television, the same close mindedness that you accuse your opponents of having. Too add to it, you insist on continuing the topic by engaging in a back biting conversation about Bill O'Reilly on your show. All your viewers are clearly aware of your dislike for him....so why continue? Feeling a little foolish....maybe regrets for not handling yourself better? So shut up about it. Don't continue to justify your less than appropriate reaction on The View today with Jesse Ventura on your show.
If Bill O'Reilly can say that all Muslims are responsible for 9/11 I think it's safe to say that all Republicans are idiots who don't have 2 IQ points to rub together between any of them. It's very easy for Republicans to keep the fear alive because their base are a bunch of sheep who cannot think critically. Most of these people are inbred hicks (hence the ad in West Virginia). If we want to get anything done in this country we need to cut these people out of the election process. If you aren't smart enough to graduate high school then your opinion shouldn't count.
Dude...I like you!!!! Let's start a blog together!
This really isnt about a mosque. Its about politics. Talking heads, and politicians (mainly right wing), love this issue and they themselves personally could careless. They only pretend that its important to them, only to make and cause division. Obamma bashing is all it is. If these right wing politicians really cared, then why deny health care to the thoudands of rescue workers? and they are still alive!
O’Reilly’s language was deliberately incendiary and meant to be provocative because that’s what he does. Unfortunately, he feels, and it has been proven, that such remarks bring him high ratings and more fans. These people may be ignorant, crazy or misguided; nonetheless, this is what works. It is easier to appeal to the lowest common denominator. If one went on the air and spoke intelligently, there would fewer listeners. I suppose it has become much easier to listen to garbage, since so many people have been eating garbage for too long.
If you’re not sure that O'Reilly meant to slight Muslims, consider this. When Charles Manson and his followers butchered Sharon Tate et al, no one on any report anywhere referred to them as the “Christian” murderers. In fact, no one is ever referred to as Christian when accused of crimes. And by the way, he did say that “we are at war with Muslims.” Even when we were at war with Hitler, we referred to him as a Nazi and as many terrible names as could be thought up, but never as a Christian, despite his working on the “Jewish” solution. O’Reilly inserting Muslim rather than terrorist and/or extremist is continuing his self-appointed mission of making “Muslim” a bad word
O'Reilly knew exactly HOW he said what he did. He phrased it like that on purpose. He wasn't there to promote his book, he was there to promote intolerance. To sort of rub salt in it when people were starting to calm down and not be so upset. His sole purpose for appearing on daytime TV, for writing the book even, was to drive as deep as wedge as he possibly can between American Muslims and Americans of other religions. I couldn't begin to say why, but look at what the man does, what he says – HOW he says what he says. I don't trust anyone that is out to divide Americans.
I am glad that those 2 left the stage. Blaming all muslims for 9 11 is totally ridiculous. I as muslim hate extremist as much as christian . People like bill and rush bimbah are the one who r spreading hate.
By seeing that they left stage gives me hope that there r americans who think that islam has nothing to do with terrorism.
The View should be nominated in the best comedy category for the daytime Emmy Awards. I LMAO most anytime I catch it on the tube. A room full of people who think they are the smartest folks in the world. At least they aren't politicians who could possibly put their beliefs into action. Barbara Walters is losing a great deal of her credibility giving her fools a nationally televised voice.
Who cares what was said and who said it. This country is suffering and we are worried about people walking off a show and still getting paid more money then any of us.
YOU should care. O'Reilly is one of those people that talk so much, and so sincerely, that people start to believe him. A LOT of people. He has a large following. He has a purpose. That purpose is to create discord, to divide America. Not "United We Stand" but, "In Hate and Fear We Are Divided" He would see American Muslims, all of them lumped together, and Americans of other religions pitted against each other. Bill O'Reilly wants to break America, and you want to stand by with a "who cares" and let him. Go you.
This is how Bill works. He says something inflammatory and outrageous, then everyone around him flips out. Then he plays the "no, I didn't say that, I said this" game, which infuriates everyone further. As he gets more and more into what he said and not what he meant, everyone gets madder and madder, and gives him the advantage because they're yelling and not thinking straight, while he is cool and composed.
Bill is a very smart man, and he knows exactly how to pull people's strings. He is extremely good at getting people to act like hotheaded fools, while he maintains his composure and picks them apart. Whoopi and Joy walked straight into his trap and they should have seen it coming a mile away. When he deconstructed what he said and apologized if his words were misconstrued, and the two of them walked back onto the set, they looked like dogs with their tails tucked between their legs.
I don't agree with Bill at all, but he is very good at what he does and he played those two like chumps.
O'really belongs in a padded cell, with a few of his other psycho friends from POX news.
The two democrats walked off the stage because they couldn't have a rational discussion. It offended them because Bill O Reilly spoke the truth. The truth stings, and they couldn't accept it.
Isn't that WHY the show is called "The View?" Everyone talks about THEIR viewpoint. How disappointing on Whoopie's part to walk out. Typical of Joy Behar. She talks about free speech but ONLY if it's HER speech to make! How unprofessional of BOTH women and from how Barbara Walters talked, she though so also and was not happy with Whoopie and Joy.
Buck Fill O'Reilly
The sad part is that our country ( and I use this term lightly) is no longer our country, not in any real sense of the word. There are so many foreign countries in the united states, all granted foreign amunity for anything illegal that they do. We send billions of dollars to feed other countries while our own people starve, build them houses and make it hard for americans to afford a home, we educate their people for free and our own kids can not afford to go to collage. I for one am tired of it, tired of hearing about it. I wish we could get a business man/woman with common sense to run this country. It does not take so many people to make a decision or ok the presidents decision, get rid of the over priced baggage in congress and save America some money. I've also noticed that in every court house it takes two or three employees to do the job of one – again cut back on unnessary spending in the government, it's out of control and ridicules. Then maybe the so called debt wouldn't be so high. Put all of the money we give away back into America where it belongs. And quit putting our noses into other countries business. Our fighting shoud be because it is absoutly necessary to the well being of OUR country, not to make friends of foreigners that hate us, tell us they hate americans while being educated in our schools and working our jobs and owing businesses in our country (that they hate). Common sense tells you that if you let people into our country that openly admit that they hate us, something like 9/11 is bound to happen. Just my opinion.
Maybe if you stepped out of your protected compound and actually talked to the locals in the Middle East, you'd get a more rounded view. Yes, I served in the military too, and I lived in the Gulf for 4 years, and I met a lot of peaceful, respectful Muslims. Sure there are nuts everywhere, but the vast majority are peaceful.
Re: your comments on the Koran - have you read the Old Testament lately? Ever notice the violence and hypocrisy in THAT?
okay, a) it is not a mosque, it is an ISLAMIC CULTURAL CENTER that includes a prayer room, and b) those are extremist muslims. it is not fair to judge all muslims based on the actions of a few extremists; many Muslims died in 9/11. 9/11 affected us all and it is ridiculous to blame American Muslims for the actions of terrorists who have nothing to do with them.
I wish that the imam would come out and public denounce the attacks of 9/11– I actually wish it could be required as a precursor to its construction. Then, I think more people would support the fact that it is the Muslim religion, and not the extremists of that faith who are welcome to build on that site. I think the ABSENCE of a public denouncing of those attacks is in some ways viewed as acceptance of those acts. I know when I, as a follower of Christ, hear about crazy things that others have done in the name of Christ that are totally against all that I truly believe Christ stood for, I denounce those things– I separate myself from those "extremists," if you will. I just wish the imam would do the same thing– and it hasn't happened that I know of... and I wonder if it ever would... or could??
While I have quite a few good muslim friends, I also agree along with them that it is insensitive of them to even push this issue of building a mosque at the site where their own people in the name of religion killed innocent victims. On a different topic, do you think that Saudi Arabia would allow us to build a church anywhere near Mecca or Medina? Word is they wont allow anyone to distribute bibles in their country.
Pick any place you like outside of the Middle East & you'll see the exact same cookie cutter approach with the end of achieving world domination: first, a small influx of Muslims to establish a beachhead. Then a period of active proselytizing & conversion. Once the Muslim community is firmly established, calls for the Muslim community to be allowed to dispense with local customs & laws in order to practice a stricter interpretation of Islamic law. Followed by calls for a separate Islamic state within a state [or outright secession,] then full mobilization of radical extremist actions to force the issue. Islam is the new communism. In the same way that communism insinuated itself across a wide swath of the world, so does Islam. Look at any of scores of examples across the globe: the Philippines, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Chechnya, Kosovo, Malaysia,
It’s the new communism. It’s a virulent cancer that’s spreading around the world, and anyone who thinks we’re not at war with Islam is deluding themselves.
And if you don’t think the majority of Muslims are extremist, just take a look at the hundreds of thousands who are whipped up into a frenzy by ignorant mullahs to turn out to riot, intimidate & murder innocents at the slightest perceived provocation. You don’t catch members of any civilized religions performing the atrocious acts attributed to “modern” Muslims. Maybe you could make that argument 400 years ago, but it doesn’t hold water today.
Yes, I agree that Imam Rauf has a right to build his center near Ground Zero, but it surely is highly insensitive to the memory of the people who died there. And for the people who are quick to say that “Muslims died in the 911 attacks,” please keep it in context: of the almost 3,000 that died that day, and the several hundred first responders & others who have died since, only a few dozen were Muslims, including the 19 hijackers.
Grow up America. And grow up, Joy & Whoopi.
Thank you Bill for standing up for America! Yes it was Muslims who attacked us on 9/11, whether they were extremeist or not they were still Muslim! The victims of 9/11 should not have to be reminded that their loved ones were killed by a group of Muslims. The Mosque is inappropriate and should not be allowed. .If the muslims do not like it let them go back to their own country. I am sick of this country worrying over political correctness. Joy is constantly sympathizing with anyone foreign born and who is againist America! Whoopi is getting to be just as bad. It was very unprofessional for them to walk off the show!
The difference between Timothy McVeigh & 9-11 is that Timothy McVeigh was not acting in the name of Catholicism. To say he was Catholic is no more significant to the Oklahoma bombing than to say he was male, or right handed or whatever. But the terrorists on 9-11 acted IN THE NAME OF ISLAM. Of course, that does not mean that all Muslims are terrorists but to ignore that fact is irresponsible at best & outright dangerous at worst.
What trashy behavior displayed by trashy women.
He was being inflammatory. Absolutely. They were being unprofessional brats. They threw a collective temper tantrum. They shouldn't get to keep jobs in which they bully dissenters who can't pitch as big a fit as they can and otherwise stomp off.
Everyone is so sensitive anymore. "You didn't add 'extremist' to Muslim, that's politically incorrect. So now you hate all Muslims... Blah, blah, blah." Muslims did attack the US on 9/11. The terrorist were Muslims. Does that make all Muslims bad. No! I'm a Christian. They have "Christians" that burn the Qu'ran and protest US soldiers' funerals. Do I crap my pants when they call them Christians. No!
Bill is 110% correct. Muslims did kill us on 9/11, and i cant believe any true american would take the muslims side. All those solders that died...who killed them?
Pin head is a mild word. The entire Fox network starting with Beck, O"Riley, Hannity and the other special guest are just plain radicals. They make the old John Birch society blush.
Have you noticed that the people who scream tolerance the most are the people with the LEAST tolerance? Odd isn't it? Joy Behar, Whoopie Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell.
I've watched this at least 3 times. Both of you should be ashamed of yourselves. The show is "The View" YOU are the ones that misunderstood, and were totally unprofessional. You didn't want to hear another opinion (other than your own) didn't even ask him to clarify, you 2 just bucked up, and stomped off with your ball, you can't play, nobody else will either. And as for the McVeigh comment. He was a Catholic, but not a practicing one. (Wiki) He was actually an atheist-only believed in a "higher power", and didn't believe there was a hell. Besides that, HE DIDN'T KILL IN THE NAME OF MOTHER MARY OR GOD, or any other RELIGION! You have said worse about the Catholics, and others. POT CALLING KETTLE BLACK!!!!! Get off the air if you don't know the background on what you are speaking about. Woopie too! No one is condemning all Muslims, but the question still remains why the so called "moderate ones" are not renouncing the Sharia and the extremist, because if they are to join this country, needs to be condemned. Take a look at Paris, take a long look at England....look at the history, or can you research? What kind of Journalist are you if you don't know that 70% is opposed to the Mosque? And as for Ventura, sounds like he is just mad cause Fox won't let him on their shows. He didn't do you any good. Another disgruntled playmate? You lost a viewer, the view seems to be only one sided. Wake up Lady! Open your mind to a different possibilities, there are others out there that live it.
Why does anyone care what Joy Behar (who is dumber than the people whe makes fun of) or Whoopie Goldberg think about ANYTHING? I don't watch The View. Why does someone have to tell me what happened on that show? If I wanted to know, I would watch it.
Hitler and Mussolini were Roman Catholics - as is O'Reilly - but I've never heard it said that Catholics were responsible for World War 2...if they were, will O'Reilly please give me a call as I have a score to settle with him.
LOL I don't think O'Reilly has earned that high of company. I don't like that he is using this whole debate to drive a wedge between Muslims and everyone else. Why would he want to divide America against itself like that? Makes you think.
A quick follow up. While McVey claimed to not be affiliated with his church, he DID accept Last Rites before execution.
He was an invited guest and Barbara was right, that what happened, should never had happened. Whoopie and Joy acted like spoiled brats. I regular watch the View and boy, when Whoopie doesn't like a guest, she sure lets them know and lets the audience know she doesn't like that particular guest, by the rolling of her eyes, etc. and Joy, well she's just plain rude to guests she doesn't like. I hope they were reprimanded by Barbara or better yet, they should be fired! Again...he was an INVITED GUEST....
Typical radical right wing politics. Slam an entire religion, culture, or class of humans - then act liike a victim. Pinhead indeed.
It is very difficult to have rational converstation between political extremists. Both parties think they are right and anyone who does not believe as they do is wrong. It is challenging for those that like to listen to both sides and make educated decisions to take these people seriously. Many tend to just ignore opinions of extremists on either end.
ahahaha priceless. Those obnoxious old hens getting their panties in a left-wing bunch again. Every second watching their show is a travesty to the eyes and ears.
Terriorism manifests itself in many forms. We are beginning to see how thoughtless and ignorant comments undermine this country. The comments are hidden in the pages of books and come to us on daily talk shows. The "terrorists" laugh and say that they are entertainers not politicians. They have the freedom to say what they want. We must be very careful when we listen to these people. Their message is insidious. I am amazed that some of the most intelligent people have been drawn to these messages.
Don't know if anyone pointed it out already, but Tim McVey was Catholic. Now, as a practicing Lutheran, I know we made peace a long time ago. But for the sake of discussion, should someone claim that ALL Catholics are terrorists ? Or that a cathedral would be inappropriate in Oklahoma City? Sounds pretty far fetched, doesn't it? I'd be willing to bet most of the folks preaching "What the Koran tells "them" to do" never read a Koran. For that matter probably not a Bible. Don't preach hatred with My Jesus – his message is "Love one another, feed the hungry, help the poor, visit those in prison" Not start another crusade for the sake of oil.
Regardless of all the idiots fighting below, to answer the question "should they have walked off" one must decide what kind of interview this is. Is it editorial or objective? Either way, walking off seems a bit immature, UNLESS they needed to compose themselves, but probably a bit unprofessional.
I personally tend to disagree with Mr. O'Rielly, but I definitely agree with Barbara Walters when she said that they should be able stay to discuss.
As for the rest of you, please learn to spell and grasp basic punctuation prior to spewing your news stand knowledge.
What is the name of the show again? VIEW ...views from anybody right? Oh Geeh!! the 2 hosts of the show walk out from their own show! They should be FIRED!!!
Bill O'Reilly is simply an employee of Rupert Murdoch and therefore says what he is told to say to promote the billionair's positions. He is not to be taken seriously. If you follow the Mainstream media rather than the Murdoch media then you probably don't even know what he is talking about.
Bill sure knows how to get the ladies all hot 'n bothered!
The building of the Islamic center isn’t about religion. Its about giving the terrorist another victory. Even if it’s not the intention of the people behind it, that’s what the end result will be.
Ever notice that the extreme liberals (Joy, Whoopie and Rosie) are always the ones screaming at guests/fellow co-hosts or walking off the show? If you don't agree with their point of view they will shout you down. Poor Elizabeth...I don't know why she continues to want to work with these shrews.
Who is Bill O'Reilly?
they clearly have the RIGHT to build the center there...but i think it would be a sign of compassion and understanding to see how building it TWO BLOCKS from ground zero could make some people feel upset. The muslim community wants people to understand them and show compassion, but its a two way street.. both sides should see both sides point of view
muslims have the right to build it there....and there is no denying that...
however.. it is also perfectly understandable why some people might find it uncomfortable and even offensive..
if those opposed to its building could acknowlege muslims right to build it their and assert that they know muslims didnt attack america but extremists using the religion as a scapegoat for the attack, than the muslim community could acknowledge why some might find it offensive building it so close
that is how compromise and understanding works...you cant ask for understanding and respect without giving it back..both sides need to give and take
we cant move forward if one side HAS to be right and one side HAS to be wrong..moving forward requires understanding, compassion and compromise from both sides..
anyone who denies their right to build it their is wrong...but anyone who cant see why building it right there might be uncomfortable for some people(especially relatives of those who died in the attacks) isn't keeping an open mind
"They should just change the name of the show from The View.. to The Jews... hahahahhahahhahahhahaha"
Thats makes ALMOST as much sense as breaking into your neighbors house and rewiring their dvd player to a different input on their television set.
muslims did attack us on 9/11. thats really all the reason you need to justify not wanting a muslim center built near that attack site.
You don't get it. It's not the literal words of the texts (Bible or Qu'ran). Anyone can find quotes supporting whatever their agenda in either text. History has proven this over and over. Neither is holier, better, more good, or less evil. It's a ridiculous argument.
Inflammatory comments like "Muslims killed us on 9/11" or whatever the idiot said is not helpful. It's stoking the flames and inciting fear for personal gain at the expense of others. The man is spouting his fear to sell his books and his TV time. All of us would be better off without him in the national spotlight. I wish we could just ignore him and several other idiots on both sides of the political spectrum until they went away.
Bill couldn't find his way out of a paper bag much like the rest of my fellow Americans. All religions demand a harsh level of loyalty, step in line or be banished to HELL. Many religious uneducated fools will try to argue that without religion you can't develop a system of morality. Yet, man has written all books of faith.. to say god spoke to them is ridiculous, also they might have been suffering from mental illness, most likely from molesting children, yes the church has always had issues with priest since the early times.. READ history, please. You all need to go back to college or highschool.
Have you noticed how graceful Barbara Walters handles any situation? She's from a different generation and it shows when sitting next to Behar. I didn't even know Behar had a show. I like her demeanor even less than Rosie.
Sooooooooo un professional
Thank God for people like Bill O'Reilly that say it like it is. I can't stand Joy and Whoopi and their Liberal extremism. How unprofessional can you get? They should both be fired. That show is crap. They invite a guest to the show and treat him like a dog, well, probably they would treat their dogs better. Can't stand them both. The show would be much better off without them.
The terrorists who hijacked the planes that flew into the two towers were Muslim, therefore Muslims did kill those people. That is the truth and it can't be denied. However they were also radicals and are not the voice of the everyday Muslim. In every religion there are radicals who will make brash choices that are not representative of the population's beliefs. Im not just talking about Muslims but Christians too. A prime example is the priest who was going to burn the Koran. But whether they had the approval of a the everyday Muslim or not, Muslims did kill Americans on 9/11. thats a fact.
I can't stand Behar nor Goldberg. I wish more bad actors would get up and walk off my TV like that.
Tonight tens of thousands of Muslims are going to bed thinking of the best way to kill as many Americans as possible. This is reality folks. They hate you and want you dead!
Where's O'Reilly's freedom of speech, Joy? Whoopie? You both defend American's rights and liberties yet as soon as anyone voices an opinion you don't share you freak out. Your hypocrisy is pathetic.
Bring on more like Barbara. At least she can discuss. You two look like a couple of menopausal crybabies.
Does someone actually care what those two fat hogs think?
You are absulutely right, Bill does have the freedom to speak. What he does not have, that you assumed he did, was the freedom to spout purposefully imflammitory comments on SOMEONE ELSE'S show, and expect them to sit still for it. If he wanted to use that sort of hate language, he should have saved it for his own show. Why couldn't he have said it in a way that wouldn't trigger a reaction? Because he didn't want to do that. Not because he didn't know. Because he didn't want to. He's been a "tv personality" for a long time, he knows his way around a speech, he knows exactly what he said, and what reaction it would get. He didn't "voice an opinion" he set up a reaction.
Absolutely Bill has the right to say what he believes... Why is it when anyone, especially white Americans say anything now, it's called racist? It's my belief more Americans need to speak in what they believe in without the fear of being crucified by people of other religions or race..Bil lis right to say muslims killed on 9/11, it's not to saying all muslims are extremists. If we, the white Americans continue the path so many are taking, we wont' be able to say anything for being afraid.. Is that what we want? This is America and we have the right to speak, we have the right to wave the American Flag, we have the right to pray anyplace we see fit, we have the rights,it seems to me, that some of us have forgotten we have rights.
I think Behar and Goldberg showed just how unprofessional they are when they got up, isn't it their job to listen to the guests on the show?
Here's the really funny thing about this: It's ok for Joy Behar and Whoppi Goldberg to walk off the stage and be intolerant toward Bill O'Reilly for his beliefs, but it's not ok for Bill O'Riley to be intolerant toward other people's beliefs! Talk about being hypocritical!
John in Texas
Mr. O'Reilley was completely correct with his statement "Muslims killed us on 9-11". Everyone of the hijackers was an avowed Muslim. Whoopy Goldberg is typical of liberal movie stars with outrageous, liberal opinions. I doubt if she even has a college degree. She is a useless moron. O'Reilly sometimes is too extreme but NOT this time. The Muslim religion is the ONLY religion that teaches its people to kill someone who is an unbeliever. And then, to top it off, Islam teaches them they will be REWARDED.
This show has really gone down hill. I quit watching it years ago, so I didn't see it today. I remember Barbara introducing the show saying that she created it with multi-generational women to exchange ideas. It sounds like Joy and Whoopie aren't interested in hearing any ideas unless they personally agree with them. Totally unprofessional. I don't think they should be fired. I think they should continue on and keep showing how ridiculous this show has become. Poor Barbara. The show seems to have come an older version of Bad Girls. Bunch of drama queens. Hope every one will finally realize this show long ago Jumped the Shark.
They should have both kept walking......
The answer is self-evident. We all know that it's both inaccurate and inappropriate to make generalizations about a large population of people based upon the extreme actions of a few who happen to share the same race, ethnicity or religion. O'Reilly was both out-of-line and irresponsible.

Not all Muslims are bad.....correct, The people flying the planes were Muslims...correct.Muslims have been waging war against Christians and America for how long???? When are we going to stop bowing down to everybody and everything because we are afraid of offending someone. This is our country and it is being taken over and walked all over by everybody. The extremist Muslims are plotting and waiting to kill more of us.How do you tell them apart from good Muslims???? You don't. So because we are afraid of offending someone, innocent American people will die.Maybe it will be your kid at the mall when the bomb goes off, maybe it won't.At some point we are going to have to seal our borders for our own protection. I don't care who is offended if it means our country is safe. And oh yeah,.....press one to read this in English, wouldn't want anyone to feel offended because we don't offer their language. Stand up America before its too late.To get back to the main point, if a pack of wild dogs came in and killed your family, would you want a massive kennel put up across the street so all the dogs could come and hang out???? I think it is un-american not to be upset about anything Muslim related (good or bad) going up anywhere near ground zero. What smack in the face is next??? Why is it that as time goes by,the people running this country seem to get dumber and dumber and dumber.Quit giving our hard earned money away to freeloading people and countries. How much money did Haiti send us to help out with the San Francisco earthquake.......I wonder.Wake up people and stand up for your country while it is still yours.
Well said American...100% correct on all accounts...
Islam forbids Muslims from lieing, cheating, hurting, and murdering people of other faith, Jews, Christians, ect. A Muslim cannot murder another human being. Someone who committs murder is no longer a Muslim. These are the facts. The 911 hijackers were murderers, criminals or terrorists simple as that. Common sense.
Adolph Hitler was Roman Catholic. Were we fighting Roman Catholics in WWII?
It's really not about right or wrong opinions or who you agree with... it's all about MANNERS.
Whoopi and Joy didn't use any today!
I must say, it at times troubles me, the depth of repulsion I feel towards Joy Behar.
I think it is rather entertaining that anyone takes anything that the see on t.v. seriously... These shows are only after ratings. Ratings equal money. Would anyone actually believe that both O'Reilly's show and The View are scripted by writers? Writers that now how to grab your attention and sell ad spots during commercial breaks.
Though I don't agree with him most of the time, I think this time Bill is right. Yes, most muslims are peaceful but the ones that attacked on 9/11 and the ones attacking us around the globe today are killing in the name of their religion. They believe they are in a "Holy War" sanctioned by Allah. They use the teachings of their holiest book to justify these killings Imam's and other Islamic leaders preach Jihad in some of these Mosque's. I'm all for freedom of religion and freedom of speech but I have to draw the line when parts of that religion believe that I have somehow done them wrong and deserve to die. In the words of Dennis Miller.."That's just my opinion, I could be wrong."
When is Joy's baby due?
ditto "WOW" Bill has just announced that he is enemy to ALL Muslims. I'd hate to but there when "Justice" and "Karma" finally meet.
Too bad Whoppi and Joy lost their temper, and hopefully they will keep their jobs. The View is an Emmy Award winning talk show, for those who didn't know. That movie made the show more realistic in my VIEW.
I can't believe I just lost four minutes of my life watching silly people yell at each other. I need to read more books.
I'm thinking Will Rogers never met Joy Behar.
there's no god, there's no allah. there's no higher power. there's nothing. the human race, everything on this planet, and everything in the entire universe is 13 billion years of chemical reactions forced by gravitational pulls and varying gas pressures. someday our race will grow up and realize that and stop killing
each other over archaic fairy tales. believe in yourself, not books of lies.
Tell it like it is Bill. You should wear the distain of damn fools like Goldberg and Behar with pride. It would give me a great deal of pleasure if I could personally knock each one of them out cold.
The two women who walked off are the first to preach about tolerance, their walking away because another had a view that they did not share, and that's all it was, shows just how intolerant they are.
A great satire of a tea-partier's visit to a controversial mosque in Wisconsin....Someone get this to that clown O'reily!
Burn, indeed. I have some relatives/friends this is going straight to.
Like the idea behind the site, too. It's a refreshing change of pace from the New Atheists
This idiot, along with 90% of the people who commented on this feed, are all buying into the LIE! ISLAM IS NOT A RELIGON OF PEACE! Of course they are going to be nice when you visit their mosques!
RIGHT ON LYNDSAY!!! This is one nation under GOD, not ALLAH!
Bill, Bill, Bill liberals can not deal with hard facts but well done! I wished Whoopee could have been at ground zero on 9/11
When a person is consumed in faith such as Islam or Christianity, as many here are, it is difficult making sound, educated decisions. History has verified this. Since Islam is just another religion to me and it does not contradict my world view any more than any other religion, I don't carry a lot of antipathy toward it. Some of these Muslim have a serious mad-on for you Christians and, obviously, some of you Christians carry a lot of venom for Islam. Do you think that these emotional predispositions are healthy for making sound judgments regarding how one is to act toward people of other faiths? It may come to the point where we atheist/agnostics find ourselves protecting you religious folk from mutual annihilation.
Bill O Reilly is an IGNORANT SOB!!! MUSLIMS did not cause 9/11 u idiot!! extremists did!! so STOP blaming the millions of other MUSLIMS who had NOTHING to do with 9/11!!!!! THANK YOU JOY & WHOPPI for standing up to what is RIGHT!!!!!
O'riley is a pinhead. He is also a religious extreamist just like the muslim extreamist he hates. I hope the guy fades away.
Don't refer to those women as "ladies".
O'Reilly said "Muslims killed us" he did not say "The Muslims". He did not say "All Muslims". It's not his due diligence to specify that he wasn't referring to ALL Muslims. You people are just mis-interpreting it and are probably offended just to hear the word "Muslim" used in debate.
None the less, I still disagree with him.
As for Joy and Whoopie, they over-reacted big time. If you're going to get emotional and offended then you are in the wrong line of business. Whoopie should slip her nuns gown back on and go back to making movies.
When was the last time Whoopi did anything worthy of remembering? And Joy Behar is just a blow hard that likes to hear herself talk. I personally don't watch the show because I am not a fan of gossipy opinionated itches.
The only one on that shows history that has any brains moved on to news....actual journalism and a stint on who wants to be a millionaire.
The show sucks, it's biased towards Obama and has ZERO journalist integrity.....I can't believe Barbara Walters put her name on such a stupid train wreck of an idea....if it was Obama the Clown or Bill "blue dress" Clinton I bet they would be open to all kinds of people bashing....which proves even more this is a waste to TV time and a forum for gossipy hens that know absolutely nothing about anything.
Side note....isn't Joy a Jew? Why would she be so defensive and side with a religion that wants her people wiped out?
Man these women are dumb.
Oh oh you naive people.
that was so unprofessional of whoopi and joy. hope they get fired!!
Let's face it: Extremist are COWARDS. They hide behind their fellow Muslims to launch attacks, which over the last ten years have killed more Muslims with car bombs and suicide bombs in Pakistan and Afghanistan than all those killed on 9/11. Their objective is to keep their issues on the table. The only way they can figure to do it is committing horrific acts of brutality. It doesn't matter to them who they kill to do it, as long as they make the front page. Cowards and pitiful excuses for human beings, they are.
An antiabortionist extremist finds justification in murdering abortion doctors. Most of these antiabortionists are Christians. Do we then blame all Christians? All antiabortionists? We should all look into our own houses before condemning a group in general. We are the ones with all the access to information, but so many of us fail to make ourselves available to it.
It is quite apparent that the freedom of speech is slowly being eroded in our society due to LEFT WING extremeists who can say anything they want as long as its FLUFF but curtail the speech of those who have a commitment....
we are slowly going to a police state cuz of the left>>NOT THE RIGHT
Islam does not care one bit about non-believers! they would cut your throat and not think anything about it! You are a dam fool if you think these kooks want peace... they want world domination... they will lie, and say what ever it is you want to hear... but dont think for one minute they want to live in peace! they dont!
Uncalled for association by Bill O'Reilly. So here's a question: if we call the 100 or so terrorists who were involved in the attacks Muslims, what do we call the 1.5 billion or so followers of Islam who did not commit the attacks? Why should the tiny speck of a minority define the label Muslim and the overwhelming majority of completely innocent, peaceful people who already call themselves Muslims be thrown in? Bill O'Reilly was wrong to misuse the word Muslim to define the terrorists. That word already had a meaning, and it was not "the men who attacked the US". Shameful for someone who surely has been helped in his career, or simply treated fairly, by at least one practicing Muslim, if not thousands, along the way. You can do better, Bill O'Reilly. You can be better than that.
Watching liberals (excuse me, "progressives") react to anything they disagree with by throwing a tantrum has become beyond boring.
I would like to personally thank Whoopi and Joy for taking a stand againt ignorance! Bill O'Reilly is offensive and a bully!
I am a proud Muslim American and take personal OFFENSE to what he said on the show today. How dare he make such a blanket statement and think that he can get away with such RACISM.
I am sick and tired of my religion getting hijacked by Fox News and it's followers.
Bravo Whoopi and Joy for taking a stand and showing what America really stands for, TOLERANCE.
Why is it Muslims and liberals cry tolerance the loudest when yet they are the most intolerant people there is?
Imagine if say some southern baptist (I'm from the south so I can say it) went and crashed some planes in Tehran. They'd still be throwing rocks and burning flags like a bunch of wild dogs today. More people have died in the name of Islam than any other relgion. Don't care if they are offended.
Isn't it wonderful that we still have the freedom to express ourselves, even if everyone does not agree.
I am sure that O'Reilly would not say that "the Christians killed civil rights activist Medgar Evers" just because he was murdered by the KKK, a self-proclaimed Christian organization who burns the cross of Jesus Christ on the lawns of people they want to terrorize. So why would he say "the Muslims did 9/11"? He knows that 9/11 was done by radicals (just like the KKK), but O'Reilly is shamelessly playing to his fan base and their primal instincts.
T McVeigh was not a Christian. A Christian is a follower of Christ and is expected to live as Christ did.
For those of you who are so quick to condem Christianity. First the only true Christian is one who by faith has received the forgiveness of their sins by Jesus Christ the Son of God. If this has not taking place in your life, then you are not a Christian.
What I really think it boils down to is the U.S. is still severely scarred from 9/11. I'm not saying over time people that lost loved ones,or just people that were scarred by it,will forgive over time. It's just too soon to try to get the U.S. people to forgive a race for the actions of a few ! !
So stating a fact – the attackers were Muslim – is demeaning the religion? Really? Did you maybe think they were Buddhist? Saying they are Muslim – true – does not imply that all Muslims are terrorists. What an unrelated leap.
Why promote the View as a place for discussion if you're going to walk off the set over such a stupid thing. Barbara Walters is a class act; too bad her two cohosts don't under civil disagreement.
we shall not menton any religion anymore and make everyone happy ,talk about flowers and furry small animals, rainbows and pretend that all is all right with the world and not listen to anything that might make us mad. The behaviour of the two ladies who I really like was bad. It shows that anothers "Views" is not allowed on any level and shows that they cannot understand that other people are allowed to speak how they see life. Muslim . what is that religion? Many forms of it and levels is what that religion is . Just like chritsianity is to Christians on levels and beliefs . there is the mild to the extreme and we all know some christians are very willing to die for their god ,just as willing as some muslims are just as willing to die for theirs. Terrorists at heart and set on making their point by spilling others blood along with their own. What do we call them "Christians gone bad " Christans .. what? I believe this whole issue is sad. The last year the muslim religion ,the people have taken the rap very hard here in the USA and many people have become so sensitive that saying anything that remotely sounds off becomes a civil war anymore. Both women would be asked to apoligize period .. they were actually in the wrong.
How unprofessional of these women. They are supposed to be talk show hosts. Gez! I do believe it was Muslims that caused 911, right. Why shouldn't they have been referred to as Muslims? That's what they were. Maybe they should be called archaic, ignorant, women-beating monsters?
I personally believe both parties were in the wrong on this one. Mr. O'Reilly should have ensured that he was talking about extremists or should not have said anything of the sort at all. As for the hosts, they should never have walked away from the discussion. If you have a problem with something someone has said, you address it directly in a respectful, but direct manner. Especially when you are PAID to do so. You expect people to take you seriously when you simply "walk away" from a problem. If that is how you deal with problems, I hope hosting a show is as far as you want to go in life. And back to Bill O'Reilly, it is people with views like the ones you portrayed that give Americans a bad name as a whole. I get so angered when hearing people talk down about the entire Muslim religion over a group of extremists. There are extremists of all religions and they do things that ruin the image of the religion as a whole. If your brother were to break the law, you wouldn't be jailed alongside him, innocently, due to his actions. Think before you speak, that goes to all of us.
O'Reilly is right..Muslims did attack us on 9/11...They said they were going to do in the name of islam, they praised Allah upon their attack, they cited islamic law and theology while they attacked and they hid, trained and planned all within the confines of a mosque....Get with it Whoopi and Joy....the two of them have no clue and it shows in their idiotic comments and their own extremists views....
Being warblers on moronic talk shows don't make them experts on anything. Typical liberal practice, talk over your opponent, call them names, and make vial assertions and allegations then storm off in a tantrum...Whoopi, you are funny; Joy, you're simply a untalented bonehead...
Oh stop it.
The KKK burned a cross on my lawn! They did it in the name of Christianity! They used the cross of Jesus Christ and praised Jesus while they lynched a black man!
Oh for Pete's sake, connect the dots between radicals and regulars in a religion!
People WAKE THE FRICK UP
We are at war with Islam
Even with Obama reaching out his hand to All of the mulim world
the latest survey has 85% of ALL mulims disliking (hating) the good old USA.
if all you liberals want to live in a make beleive world
move to Iran
Bobby wrote: "We are at war with Islam...." Obama does not get this blah blah blah. You forget the George W. Bush also said "we are not at war with Islam". Oh yeah, if we are at war with Islam, why did he stand next to the new Iraqi Prime Minister (a Muslim!) and call him "a great guy"? You must have amnesia!
Get a accurate translation and read what the Koran teaches, it is taught to take people that are non muslin out. It is their teaching, the ones that are doing the killing are doing what the Koran teaches, they are not extremist's but being faithful to their teachings. So when everybody says the extremists, they are wrong, they are acting upon their teaching what the Koran teaches.
The View lost all credibility years ago when it became evident that the only "views" allowed are those that lean far left of center. It went from trash with Rosie to garbage with Whoopie. As for the way the hosts treat their invited guests, it is appaling to see the disrespect they receive and I don't understand why anyone would agree to be on the show . Whoopie and Joy should be fired for their boorish behavior and If Barbara wants to try to reclaim any of her journalistic integreity back she should fire them immediately.
Medgar Evers was killed by the KKK. The KKK is a Christian organization, albeit extremist. Now, would O'Reilly say that "the Christians killed Medgar Evers"? Doubt it. Al-Quaeda is to Islam as the KKK is to Christianity. O'Reilly knows this.
You saw how quick he turned around when cornered. But he blurts out these racist, blanket statements to play to his fan base.
Now, let's apply the logic of Bill O'Reilly to the K.K.K. or Hitler – both extremist affiliations of the white persuasion – who "killed [just as many of] us" and more so on American soil than any "Muslim extremist" might ever imagine; ergo, it would appear that Bill O'Reilly is, perhaps, the face of a far greater evil that should be banned from nationwide television altogether; except – like 911 – it happened so long ago that, perhaps, it's time to just let it go.
Bill O's interest is for self promotion. Period. It is there way of getting people's attention.
The formula for getting attention is always to make disagreeable statement about race and religion. Is he not coincidentally promoting a book? It's absolutely pathetic and selfish for people of his standing to malign an entire religion just to get some attention to himself, if not his book.
Unfortunately, Bill is intelligent enough to pick our brains when he says those words. He is absolutely literally correct on his statement. All of those men happen to be Muslims. However, he is very irresponsible in his use of words and lacks sensitivity about the entire society he lives in, in general. His bearing is no different from Ahmadinejad, only they are on the opposite ends of the pole. People should learn to ignore statements from people like him.
Gee, how did I know which two walked off before I even saw tclicked on the article? Barbara Walters is the only true professional on that show!
O'Reilly is an entertainer but less obviously so than say, Jay Leno. O'Reilly is employed for his inflammatory rhetoric, not for any "news" or "knowledge" that he possesses – fairly low on both counts in my estimation, other than he knows what keeps him employed as an entertainer even though the quality of his entertainment needs improving.
The ratings of both shows will likely skyrocket, and the drama displayed could have been staged to accomplish this? Maybe the pinhead from FOX, should become more enlightened before commenting, and maybe the viewers, should pay attention to their own meager lives, as opposed to watching noise disguised as news/viewpoints, designed to sway the thoughts and actions of people.
You need to go live in/see a Muslim country (if you can get out alive for being non-muslim), and then see if you want the mosque here, or if you think the religion is a fit for america.
I find it interesting that the Muslims wanting to build a mosque at Ground Zero call it a 'bridge to understanding' of Islam or some such. But of course they INSIST on building it right there at Ground Zero. They say, It will be more than just a mosque – it will have a gymnasium, conference rooms, etc. I don't care WHAT the building has or even what they try to call it. If they go through with building this at Ground Zero, then it will now and forever be viewed by many Americans as what it truly is: a VICTORY MOSQUE! THIS is what MUSLIMS do!!!
I also agree with many other posters, who made comments about the 'silent majority' of so-called peaceful American Muslims. On 9/11... where were they? Where were their voices? Their denouncements? Oh, that's right, they were silent. In the business world, an E-mail discussion for a proposal will often include the phrase 'Silence means approval.". This is one of the things that really bothers me about American Muslims. If they are supposedly peaceful, WHY do they keep their voices silent? And if they ARE the so-called majority, why do they allow their religion to be hi-jacked by terrorists if the terrorists are such a small minority? That deafening silence suggests that the majority of American Muslims actually approved the actions of the murderers. Otherwise, why do they not speak up? They've had 10 years now to do so....
If they TRULY cared about building bridges, they would re-locate their project to another area. If they did that, I would welcome the new building and applaud them highly for being respectful of the feelings of the majority of American citizens, who do NOT want this building erected at Ground Zero. Just because you have the legal right (which I do not dispute at all!) and CAN build where you want to, does not necessarily mean you should.
Whoopi and Joy, what a couple of idiots, Muslims did kill thousands on 9/11. But they were extremists.
joy and whoopi made the correct decision, leave the area when this idiot keeps speaking.
I am so sick of these false apologies that are always being made these days. The person apologizing says, "I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my remarks". What crap! That is saying, I 'm sorry you took my remarks wrong, and implies the offended person is the one who made the mistake. A REAL apology is this simple: "I apologize for what I said. It was wrong".
...one of the best compliments is to have idiots disagree with you.
This only confirms my thoughts about organized religion....ridiculous ideology. Human beings are the same everywhere around the world. There is good and there is evil, it's that simple.
O'Reilly is a sleazy hate mongering pig.
Yes, the terrorists who made the attack on 911were muslim. That does not mean that all muslims are extremists. There are extreme people in every religion. In fact, christians killed millions in the crusades. This means nothing. In the AMERICAN bill of rights, it gives us freedom to practice WHATEVER religion we please. Not letting them build the center would go against the principles that make this country great.
Bill certainly speaks out against religion, but on an HBO channel that you have to deliberately tune in to. In other words, it's your choice. I hope that those of you who have some spiritual belief would be as considerate and keep these thoughts to yourselves and to other, like-minded people. Most definitely -keep this stuff out of the classroom, just as I would keep my lack of beliefs out of the classroom. Oh – I've read some very "Jesus-like" reactions to him. Fueled with hatred – not the Jesus I was taught about. Don't you fear eternal damnation as your just reward for misrepresenting Jesus? You gotta..
The audience agreed with O'Reilly. There was and applause when he talked about the Muslim center.
Tim McVeigh was a Christian. Should we demean the whole Christian religion based upon the acts of a few,..or the one?
They do CONSTANTLY.... and even though the Crusades were in retaliation to the Muslim slaughter/invasion of Europe it is still the defacto position of those that hate Christians to bring up the crusades as a Christian slaughter...talk about being obsessed and having selective perception.
Next it is the Salem witches being burned...this was done by Puritans which are not today's Christians, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Cordoba is the name of the Mosque, it is named after another mosque in Spain and was celebrated as the "conquering" of the nation. Google it.
You are free to be swept into the deception...those with ears to hear and eyes to see will stay diligent and reap the scorn of you who embrace every wind that blows.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling
Why don't you make a list of how many people were murdered by the KKK, a radical Christian organization? Am I to believe that ALL Christians are like this?
The down fall of the Human Race.....why is it the Gods only visited people thousands of years ago? The world is flat, there is no other life in the universe....simply minds are down fall of the Human Race.....Man is like a cancer
Those who say the 9/11 Muslim Terrorist were "Terrorist, who happened to be Muslim" are delusional. These men were koran toting muslims intent on harming the US. Just because a few Muslims were in the towers does not wipe this fact away. Tim McVey may have been a Christian as some say, but if he was directed, finance and a fiery radical as the 9/11 crew the whole world would condemn christanity and there would be some serious soul searching within- which I do not see happening after 9 years in the muslim world.
i apologize if someone has already posted this but if thats the case (that muslims killed the US in 9/11) and that they shouldnt be allowed to build a temple 2 blocks away from ground zero, then i suppose all catholics are child molesters and that we shouldnt have a church next to a school. i do believe in free speech and people should say whatever they choose–i just dont like it when what they say is ignorant!
@ Joel- you don't know jack. you were in Iraq so you know muslims? you were in a warzone where you were paid to go kill and anything you saw is a representation of "what goes around comes around." Just like this response to your ignorant comment.
Religion is one of the worst inventions ever to spring from the mind of man.
After reading a bunch of these comments, I would like to leave two of my own...
1.) Who bombed abortion clinics in this country and in whose name? OHHH yeah, Christians in the name of God.
2.) The bible is just a hateful as the Koran... Shall I remind you... Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
There's a statue of Jesus, Timothy McVeigh's god, at the Oklahoma City memorial.
(Expletive deleted) Bill O'Reilly
this is the type of venom he spits on his own show.
If these women are supposed professionals, they should have stayed on the set and acted professionally. Part of being a host on this type of show is having controversial topics. If they expect to agree with everyone, they shouldn't be the hosts! Grow up ladies!!
All faiths can be a platform for manipulation and all faiths have followers who will, can be, and are manipulated and commit devastating acts…but, the bottom line is, religions themselves don’t kill people. People kill people.
The women on the View that walk out on their guests should be dismissed. Joy is an idiot anyway. Whoopi doesn't have the class she thinks she has to absorb the conflicts that so happen live on network TV, end of story. Bill is out there on the Mosque and what it represents. I think it is a slap in the face to the USA to allow a place of woship for those that truly hate Americans and bait there own children with bombs to walk up to our solders that are only trying to bring resolve to their region, that will never ever in all this worlds existence get along. Ain't going to happen! Why?
Religion. Not color not money, not oil, the difference in Religion. Even popular American religions have killed in the name of our God. That's it.
I have a lot better things to do than watch the View. It is one of the worst reality shows on network TV, right there with The women of New Jersey or Atlanta, BS
Extremists, whether Islamic, Jewish, and yes, Christian are the problem here. Religion should be about reaching out, not Separating and dividing.
Without the teleprompters and his writers, the real naked thoughts of O'Reilly come to light.
Let's see how the writers will twist it all around and make fun of the ladies on his FX show and make him look in charge.
What a loser – only cares about ratings and book sales – nothing else.
Sleep well, Bill.
Yada yada yada, You are all a bunch of pinheads. Just STFU.
NEWS BULLETIN: This is a #$*(%) TV show. Controversy – hosts walking out – makes headlines… which generates news coverage… which focuses interest on the show… which stimulates viewership. Have we all turned into sheep and are so dumb that we don't know when we're being led to slaughter? How many comments are on this topic here? 'Rest my case.
Whoopi & Joy are two dopes who just don't get it.
What will they do in November or better yet 2012?
LEAVE THE COUNTRY? I hope so.
Um, I'll make a statement. "Christians conducted the Crusades in the Middle Ages." Does that statement demean the Christian religion?
Some of you are silly and under-educated regarding the Islamic religion. It is an article of their fair the kill non-believers, AN ARTICLE OF THEIR FAITH! There is no guarantee in Islam that you will go to paradise unless you are a martyr.
"Extremists" is simply a moderate term. Those who are killing non-Muslims are doing so because it is AN ARTICLE OF THEIR FAITH!!!
– "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places
...whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is
worse than slaughter [of non-believers]...and fight them until
persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."
I think Bill was perfectly correct in his statement. It is wrong to sugar coat this be cause of PC. Yes there are good Muslims, but I sure would like them to denounce the extremist so we could tell the difference. Muslims killed over 3000 Americans. We did not cause the attack but we shed American blood. So many liberals make it sound like 9/11 was our fault. All you have to do is read the Koran and you will see that it is their false religion that is to fault.
For those of you who try to compare 9/11 with OK City. You have it all wrong.
Here's the difference: When O'Reilly mentions "Muslims killed us". He's not wrong. Muslims did kill us and they did so in the name of Islam.
As far as the OK City Bombing. You can't say "Christians killed us" or "Angry army vet" killed us. They didn't kill in the name of Christianity or Army vet rights.
They were just disgruntled Americans who had enough with the Federal Government. Yes, they're still terrorists, but it had nothing to do with religion and that's the difference.
Why the obsession with labeling these terrorist as “Muslim” or “Islamic” radicals or extremists. Is terrorist not enough. People that are barbaric have used a major faith to divide throughout history but they don’t subscribe to its teachings. The KKK was not labeled as “Christian” radicals/racists even though they burn the cross. The IRA in Northern Ireland was not labeled as protestant or catholic terrorists. Timothy Mcveigh was not labeled as “Christian” terrorist. We all hate terrorist, but we don’t need to label 1.3 billion ppl along with them.
I don't think it's correct to state that Muslim's killed us.
BUT... In my opinion it goes way past the extremist involved with 9/11. To me, extremist sounds like a small group of thugs, individuals. But what about the tone in the Muslim world, when news broke on 9/11? Thanks to TV, we unfortunately know. Muslim's in several different countries were dancing in the streets, when they heard that American's were killed.
Perhaps it's politically correct to state that Muslins in these countries wanted, or preferred, us dead. But Muslim's in other countries did not kill us, nor share their view of the attackers, etc.
Ok I live and work in NYC and the thought of the repercussions of building a new Islamic Center near ground zero scares the crap out of me. Not that I'm worried about Muslims extremists (the need to distinguish between those who danced in the streets and the few who justify strapping bombs to their body by quoting the Quran), but of American extremists (McVeigh and the like) and what they would do. Few people seem to realize that there are in fact 3 mosques currently in existence within 15 blocks of the WTC complex and before the towers fell there was actually a mosque INSIDE one of the towers. The management felt it was important to have locations for all faiths to practice. As an American I ask all Americans, why you you think the "Muslims" hate us? Is it because, among other things, our priorities are making a big deal about a single issue ignoring the global problem? If people are so against building this Islamic Center, why don't we just close every Mosque within 30 blocks of ground zero? There problem solved! Can we please move on, fix the economy, get rid of those multi-million dollar CEO's who get bonuses by profiting when the public is suffering, and deal with the million or so people that are loosing their homes to foreclosure because there is no bail out for the people!
O'Reilly has no problem with Israel and its slow-motion invasion of the West Bank. The call themselves "settlers", but they are evicting Palestinians from their ancestral homes to put Jewish Immigrants from anywhere in Eastern Europe into the occupied land.
O'Reilly doesn't think that is provocative, but feels an Islamic Community Center is just too strong for the tender New York Feelings.
Some of the comments in this blog states how it's just "too provocative" and even though its legal, shouldn't be there because it offends too many people.
CASE IN POINT: When public schools were integrated, the exact same thing was said. Having black kids in the same schools as white kids would be just too provocative, be too much of a distraction, too dangerous, blah, blah, blah. They should have "separate but equal". Meaning, not where I can see you. I thank God that the President decided that there was going to be integration no matter what, even if there are federal marshals in each classroom. Some of those kids went to school alone or almost alone when all the white kids were pulled out by their parents.
I'm not going to jump when Sarah Palin barks, or when Glen Beck puts out his hateful attacks. Bill O'Reilly is just mouthing the same garbage from the same script: "They" don't have a right to live in "our" country.
There is a prayer room in the Pentagon and has been since before 9-11. There was a prayer room in the WTC before it was brought down.
Joy and Whoopi are have clearly demonstrated that they are not professional journalists. They are merely talk show hosts and there is a big difference. If they only want to have a show where guests agree with them, then I guess that is their prerogative. The View is then merely a show that will always be about fluff, towing the party line and not talking about anything meaningful. Real journalists and professionals will actually hear a debate that includes diverse points of view and then counter back with intelligent questions. That is something that is obviously beyond their skill set. This is an adolescent tantrum and nothing more. Where are the real journalist? Where is the intelligent discussion? I would love to see some.
In short,Bill O'Reilly is a racist. He is part of the big problem in this country. His tirades and views are based on bigotry and are what is wrong in part with America today. With the Catholic upbringing and brainwashing from the church he has gotten during his life, this is just a prime example of what is also wrong with religion today.
My undies are in SUCH a BUNCH about Bill O'Reilly having the nerve to have an opinion different than mine, and all the rest of the girls. I'm glad there are braver, powerful gals like Joy and Whoopi around to stand up for the poor Muslims. Without heroes like them to defend them against swine like O'Reilly, WHAT other recourse would they have???!!! Thank you girls for making such a death defying defense of our relgious liberty.
Blah, blah, blah!... "The View" Not so much today. I can't stand whoopi, and her side kick Joy. They think they know it all, and "God for bid someone else's challenges their opinion about any topic specially politics." I felt they didn't give Bill O'Reilly the respect he deserved for being on the show. I'm not a Bill O'Reilly fan, but I'm not against listening to other peoples views on politics. I love a good debate, and it didn't happen on the view. "Anyways, don't expect me to watch the show again."
For two of the most opinionated women on TV to walk off the set of "The View" during an interview is irresponsible. They are in the opinion-business - every day we listen to their opinions! It is their job to listen to their guests views, even if they don't agree. Sometimes Bill O'Reilly is a "pinhead", but Whoppi and Joy's actions were immature. "If you can't stand the heat - stay out of the kitchen!"
Woopie's hair is HORRIBLE. Can she make herself any more unattractive?
How bout if we see a shot of you, buck?
Yo....everyone calm down. I was in 9/11, I live near ground zero and the Mosque....in the end, there is the right for that facility to be there. The rest of the extremeist in America can just butt out....its legal, local gov't has said so, If the right wing doesn't like it, remember – you can't control every aspect of American life, and much as you would like to. Remember seperation of Church and State??? Please, just leave us be.....
When you are dealing with someone like Bill O'Reilly you can not have a civil conversation, I can't blame Whoopi & Joy for leaving. The "Pinheads" who fear a Mosque near Ground Zero are showing an intolerance that has no place in our culture. I wish the top floor of the new World Trade Center would be built to contain a small Mosque, Synagogue, Buddhist Temple, Christian Church and a House of Worship for any other religion who lost members on 9/11 surrounding a community center where people of all beliefs can meet. Only then could healing begin in this country.
Bottom line: While O'Reilly is an idiot, or a 'Pinhead" in context, walking out on him was unprofessional and self-defeating. complaining about the building of an Islamic Center near ground zero can only attempt to be valid if there are equal complaints against Christan Centers near abortion clinics that have been bombed by Christian Fundamentalists, Churches near the site of the Atlanta Olympics, Churches near any site bombed by the Unabomber, etc. The only difference is the religion that the extremist was a member of.
The vitriol that is regularly spewed from O'Reilly and the rest of his ilk at Fox is hurting this country. I live 30 minutes from the remains of a Mosque which was burned down, 15 minutes from another Mosque which has been repeatedly defaced by graffiti, and for each offense some nutjob clams they are 'defending America from Islam' or 'protecting the USA from Sharia Law.'
O'Reilly's views are foolish, inflammatory, and he is of course completely aware of this. So long as he inspires reactions like walking off the stage of the hosts' own show, he is doing his job. He's a talking head who survives solely on fomenting controversy. If Goldberg and Behar wanted to actually negate any of his views, they should have stayed and rationally pointed out his stupidity. Their failure to do that, in the end, just served to propagate his opinions.
the ladies on the view are a liberal joke to television journalism. If they consider themselves journalists than that is an insult to all real journalists. When an opinion does not suit pinheads like Ms. Goldberg, or Ms. Behar, they do just like you saw, they turn tail and leave. Great job hosts of the view. This is why I don't watch and never will. I just laugh at you all when you frequently, frequent you-tube.
You've "never watched and never will" – and yet you talk as if you pretty much know all about the show & the hosts of the show. You're either a liar or an arrogant azz. Are we supposed to guess which one? What a hypocrite.
When Muslims stop saying the Crusades were attacks upon them by Christians, I will stop saying the New York attacks were attacks upon us by Muslims.
You've never even picked up a history book, right?
I am simply thrilled to see courageous women like Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, valiantly stand up for freedom of religion. It isn['t every day that powerful women jeopardize their careers by standing up for Muslims in front of a national television audience. Completely ignoring any detrimental impact such a bold statement might have on their personal careers, these bold, liberal heroes are standing up for the timid Muslims who have no voice on the world's stage. Hoorah for feminine defenders of religious freedom. Hoorah for the liberal heroes!!
" The View " should be changed to "Our view" in lieu of this recent walkout by two hosts. This is the problem in this country, people no longer want to have candid conversations when they disagree with another's point of view or opinion. These hosts surround themselves with like minded audience members and cater to a select group viewers that really don't represent the mainstream point of view. I applaud Bill for expressing his views and supporting them with facts.
Why don't Joy, Whoopi build it next to their house its only three thousand miles away, close enough to be understanding, yet far enough not to affend.
looloo....get your head out of your colon first, maybe that way you'll live long enough to see the next decade. Here we go again about "the inside job." Humpty Dumpty didn't fall down, he was pused. Same mental difference.

Did the other hosts or producers address the unprofessional behavior?
A guest is invited on the show... You disagree with his opinion ,so as the HOST you walk off the show...
Interesting display of intellect and tolerance. I do not watch Bill O'Rielly but maybe I should if these are the people discussing social issues to an audience (it seemed to lack true discussion).
Yep – if you want to see a host who is consistently intolerant (and loud) to guests who disagree with him – and the rudest person on television – watch bill... it's amazing...
Call Bill what you like but this incident gave him more publicity for his book than if they would have stayed on stage. They unwillingly did him a favor.
Might be somewhat true, Ken – but sometimes the old gag reflex just can't be controlled...................
As a canadian I AM SHOCKED to hear half the remarks that come out of some individuals in the States. So much for being a nation that is tolerant of others when generalizations such as these are made about Muslims!
That Bill guy is not only wack, but speaks like a redneck that's been stuck in the south for too long! IDIOT! What Whoopi & Joy did, was an act of courage to many of us around the world who saw this, WHY?
Because they refused to listen to the intolerance and biased remarks coming out of BIll O'Reilly!
I understand their reaction, but wish they would not have stooped to O'Reilly's level and childishly let emotions control them. He rants and raves, as is his right to do, but on a world wide medium. People listen and believe his nonsense. It is sad that he is perceived as a representative for American beliefs.
If you want to make the comparisons then try this....if all Muslims are like 9/11 terrorists, that all Christians are like the Westboro Baptist Church nutcases. Is that what we do in this country? Paint everyone with the same brushstroke to make it easy? We do not have to bother thinking or getting to know anyone if we do so - but personally, I prefer to know people for the individuals they are, not totally by what label someone put on them or even what group they belong to or have an association with, no matter how broad.
What if we looked at ourselves and who we associate with - from our family members (and who does not have some wacky relative in their tree - do you want to be known as someone like them because you are related?) Perhaps you with a jerk - should you be labeled as such? If you are Catholic, you must be a pedophile because some in your religion are? Really?
People need to wake up to the hate mongerers in the world from ALL and not let them dictate to the rest of us...otherwise, we are going to have another Hilter on our hands - someone who convinces the masses to hate others so much that they become violent.
Oh, we have that already, it's anit-gay, anti-Muslic, anti-ethnic....need I say more?
The women of the View are Pin Heads except Elizabeth. No fair and balanced on the View!!!
except Elizabeth............ gee, how unbiased of you.... what a joke.
Don't you just love people who use polls as a basis for arguments and talking points..........Same people belive in the tooth fairy, santa and the easter bunny.....
Hey guys. would you visit SaveStan.ORG, a friend of mine with 4 babies is fighting for his life.......... Thanks
While I am not in the business of demeaning or insulting an entire religion, but the number or percentage of Muslim extremists is increasing every day. This means that if they continue becoming extremists at the rate they have been so far, then soon the majority of Muslims will be extremists. And while I am all for freedom of religion, Muslims are still responsible for the largest attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor and that should not be taken lightly. Therefore, if they want to build a community center, go ahead, by all means, build away, but don’t do it anywhere near the sight of such a horrific event that was caused by MUSLIMS!
There was a mosque IN the world trade center... Bill is a buffoon.
That O'Reilly is a paid propagandizing shameless immoral right wing shill is well known. What is surprising is that he'd be dumb enough to think he could spew out his nonsense to a group of people with a clue who can't be brow beaten into submission and get away with it. It's not your dirty little set up show, blowhard! What a goof.
The gals sure can turn up the fire when they want to roast someone, but can't take the heat when it's turned on them. These two are intellectual duds.
Bobby Kennedy, 72 Munich Olympics, 79 Iran Embassy takeover, 83 Marine barracks in Beirut, 85 Achille Lauro, 85 TWA Flight 847, 88 Pan Am Flight 103, 93 WTC bombing, 98 Kenya and Tanzania embassy bombings, 9/11/01. No Muslums involved in any of those...
Does anyone care what Whoopie or Joy think? They aren't adult enough to even debate a subject like an adult. Who watches weekday morning televison anyway?
Well, let's see... did 55 year old Norwegian women hi-jack the planes on 9/11....Noooo. Did 40 year old Jewish business men hi-jack the planes on 9/11....Noooo. If you take off your Politically Correct glasses, it was young Muslim men! That's just a fact. So now let's put an Islamic Center near the 9/11 site. That's a good idea? That will make people feel good? Yeah, right.
The VIEW sucks. Whoopi is the biggest bigot there is out there.
Loss of public civility for the sake of ... ratings ?.
Tim McVeigh did not blow up the fed building on OK City in the name of Jesus. The extremists who crashed planes on 9/11 did in fact do it in the name of Allah. That is a key difference. Now, I consider myself to be fairly liberal, and as much of a fool as O'Reilly is, he is technically correct. Was it necessary for him to deliberately cause an uproar like that, given his audience on The View? No. He does pick fights. However, he has a right to his opinion that the center should not be built by Ground Zero. Do I agree with him? No, but the only thing he can be faulted for is deliberately inciting anger. He is pretty self-aware.
I lump democrats, liberals, muslums, christians, mormans, jews, and scientologists all into one group that the planet would better without. Just think how nice the world would be if they all vanished tomorrow!
This obviously was planned for a ratings boast – lol. The only comment, other than that, is Whoopie and Joy need to go on a serious diet.
The real problem is that this doofus, O'Reilly, gets national attention (and $$) for blurting out whatever hateful spew he suspects will bring our darkest side to the forefront.
The View is such a trivial piece of television trash. Who cares what Joy and Whoopi do? They're totally irrelevant.
Look if you’re a Muslim living in the United States then you’re not a true Muslim so stop pretending to be one! We (Americans) are the infidel along with all the other western civilized countries so how can you possibly live in our country if you are 100% Muslim? I was in Iraq and know what a true Muslim looks and acts like. I think Muslims are like Nazis. If you hear some one referred to as a Nazis it's bad... same thing as Muslims!
So who killed whom on 9/11. The gang was all male and several of them citizens of Saudi Arabia. All of them had parents. Weren't they a collection of deranged individuals brought together by a criminal mastermind?
this just shows how left-winged hollywood really is. have some class ladies, we listen to your views why not listen to the views of the people? oh yea thats right the everyday person doesnt matter to you!!!
The ones left on the couch were Barbara Walters, this is her show, I understand. The other two were Sherri Sheperd, the one who thinks the world is flat and Elizabeth Hasselbeck who rivals Sherri in the IQ department. I think that when you see who was left on the couch, it says it all! Good for Joy and Whoopi.
O'Reilly may have worded his statement wrong, but he's right about the mosque. There is a great video by a British man, Pat Condell, that may give you a different view if you are in favor of the mosque being built in NYC. Here is the link:
Why do people have such a hard time with the facts? We were attacked by Muslim fanatics on 9/11 and we are at war with them (their decision not ours) and they are coming for us as we speak, calling it a “event” is sad display of where our country has come to, appeasement went out the window with Europe in the 1930’s, we need to stand up for our country and quit thinking that this will not happen again, do you need a mushroom cloud over a major city in America to get the government to defend our citizens? (This is the number one job they are supposed to do)
I would like to see them discuss human rights with these peaceful religions (not to mention women’s rights) and see how that “event” goes, I would guess by their behavior in America, a death sentence wouldn’t be out of the question if they were in those countries today.
(Those that do not heed the lessons of history are bound to repeat them)
Oh, for Pete's sake. . . the walk-out was STAGED! I think Joy and Whoopi decided beforehand that if O'Reilly said anything outrageous (and he always does) that they would walk out. . . GREAT FOR RATINGS! But it does make Whoopi and Joy look like little 5-year-olds throwing temper tantrums. AMUSING. . . and I'd say O'Reilly's having a good laugh over it, too! LMAO!
What do you think? Did the ladies overreact, or was Bill O'Reilly wrong in not talking about Muslim extremists?
"Wrong", very subjective way to poise the question. However, I will give to the point that Bill should have been more specific in his reply since he does hold himself out to be the word mister. The "ladies", as you call them, always overreact concerning issue they don't agree wth.
As always lost in this discussion, is the differnce in the "rights" of the issue. Of course, the builders of the mosque has the legal "right" (apparently) to build this mosque. However, is it the "right" thing to do. The patriots in all of this are the soldiers and public service people who daily provide all the pinheads the safety to be able to have a show like The View and The O'Reilly Factor.
Personally, I feel the mosque should not be built, the View cast should grow up and at least act like adults and O'Reilly should choose his words better so he does not alienate people whom he probably could influence if they did not overract.
Why do we have to show our tails in everything that we do. Be professional and I know that's asking a ot of anyone in hollywood, but come on. Your job is to interveiw the guests, put your personal feelings on a back burner and do your job. If you cn't handle it, then someone else needs to be doing the job. A prime example of media bias, unprofessionalism, and direlection of responsibilities.
@Lewis - Way to misquote the Qur'an. Was that intentional? Or just ignorance:
@Lewis misquoted: "Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. (But if they desist in their unbelief, then don't kill them.) 2:191-2"
Actually, if you read the previous passage, it says "Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but DO NOT TRANSGRESS". Which means 2:191-2 is talking about those who fight you first. It's talking about self-defense.
@Lewis misquoted: "The disbelievers, they are the wrong-doers. 2:254"
Interesting that you omitted the first part of that verse: "O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange and no friendship and no intercession." It's saying that you (Muslims) should extend peace and friendship (to disbelievers) until they refuse your friendship.
@Lewis misquoted: "Don't be friends with non-Muslims. They all hate you and want to ruin you. 3:118"
Actually, you're reading an out-of-context interpreted version of that passage. It's talking again about those who have demonstrated that they're against you. It's talking about self-defense to preserve one's beliefs.
@Lewis misquoted: "We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Their habitation is the Fire 3:151"
Look back a couple of verses. It's talking about if you obey those who disbelieve, and cautioning that they'll turn their back on you, but that Allah will protect you and will cast down those who have associated with Allah things he never said. Basically, he's saying such people will be damned to hell. This is pretty much the same thing the Christian God warns everybody about. Remember the first "Commandment"?
@Lewis misquoted: "Allah will bestow a vast reward on those who fight in religious wars. 4:74"
Oh stop it. It doesn't say "religious wars". That's a modern construct. It says that if you fight it the name of Allah and you're killed in battle, he'll reward you for your loyalty. Big deal. That's what the Christian God promises, too.
@Lewis misquote: "The disbelievers are an open enemy to you. 4:101"
Try reading the whole verse. It's talking about if you're traveling, it's ok to shorten your prayer time because disbelievers may want to hurt you. Again, it's self-defensive.
Why promote all this misinformation?
It's all right here: http://quran.com
Take some time to read and discover that all this BS you're spewing is ignorant fear-mongering. And if ignorant paranoid terrorists use this crap to justify their heinous actions, that doesn't mean they represent the views of Islam.
Matt raised an interesting point. He said
"Don't be a moron. If I say seaguls crapped on my car today does that mean I'm implying that every seagul in the world is responsible for it? No it just means that more than 1 seaguls crapped on my car. In exactly the same way when I say Muslims destroyed the twin towers it simply implies that more than 1 Muslim destroyed the twin towers. Some people just love to find a way to be offended."
His reference to seagulls is directed specifically at those seagulls that crapped on his car. So, by extensio
