The wait (and hype) is over for fans wondering what Kanye West would name his newest album.
Yesterday via Twitter, West announced the name of his forthcoming disc. “The official album title is and always will be…,” West first tweeted before following up with the name, “MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY.”
After emerging from self-exile with his triumphant single, “Power,” the introspective “Runaway” and a slew of new music via his G.O.O.D. Fridays campaign, West can put to rest the rumors of the album being called “Good-A** Job” or “Mama’s Boy.”
West went on to announce the details about his first song on the new album, “Dark Fantasy,” which is produced by Wu-Tang front man, RZA, and co-produced by No I.D.
Last week, the song “Lost in the World” leaked, causing West to rethink G.O.O.D. Fridays and address the issue. “I ain’t letting no leaks have any affect on my song choices,” he said. “All of the Lights is the next single but wait till yall here the final!!!!!”
Well, regardless of the songs, critics aren’t too keen on the album name.
“We’d be lying if we said we’re happy with his decision,” wrote James Montgomery of MTV News. “After all, not only is 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' sort of a mouthful, but it kind of sounds like something a melodramatic 15-year-old girl would write in her dream journal.”
“My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” is set for release on November 22, a day before Nicki Minaj releases her highly-anticipated debut, “Pink Friday.” According to his Twitter account, West is in Paris working with a graphics house on the typeface for the album cover.
