Katherine Heigl's a fan of electronic cigarettes

Cigarettes used to be a stress reliever for Katherine Heigl, but now the 31-year-old actress is definitively proclaiming that "smoking sucks" - except when it comes to electronic cigarettes.

Heigl, whose movie “Life As We Know It” opens on October 8, told Parade magazine that an electronic cigarette has been a life-saver for the past six months.

“I know it sound’s ridiculous, but it's helping me not to actually smoke real cigarettes,” Heigl said. “You feel like you are smoking, and you get to exhale but it’s just water vapor and not nicotine.”

Now that she’s leaving her packs in the past, Heigl added that she's developed an idea on how to talk to adopted daughter Naleigh about smoking, and is considering using an argument that goes past the familiar warnings.

“The one thing I would say to my kid," Heigl said, "is ‘It’s not just that it’s bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn’t even really give you a good buzz?’”

I think people should be able to smoke whatever they want, but I have found something that works great for myself and all of my friends. We are all mild smokers, so a "kit" seems pointless for us. We all bought the disposables from http://www.ZemoCigs.com and LOVE them! They are great because we can go out and enjoy a smoke, but don't have to worry about anything else. When we are done, we just toss them! The e-cigarette has been a lifesaver.

Well I think the e cig industry as a whole is getting unnecessary scrutiny by governments' who are probably more concerned about the money they're going to lose from real cigarettes. The fact that real cigs are retardedly unhealthy means it would be impossible to find an e cig anywhere near as dangerous. The health benefit isn't in question, the greedy governments are. I made an informational website recently to try and educate people about e cigs without any bias or propoganda, here is the link http://e-cigaret.co.uk

Since the public became aware about the dangers of smoking a couple of decades back, many individuals have found stopping the tobacco practice hard. Brands have actually been innovating and manufacturing smoking cessation products for many years now. From nicotine patches to gum, nicotine abusers have actually been utilizing them to quit their practice.Electronic cigarettes (additionally known as e-cigarettes and electric cigarettes) are the newest product on the marketplace. They are made to look and feel like real cigarettes, even to giving off synthetic smoke nonetheless they do not actually include any tobacco. Users inhale nicotine vapor which looks like smoke without any of the carcinogens found in tobacco smoke which are unsafe to the smoker and others around him.:

Katherine Heigl-puffing away on her electronic cigs! The last time I saw her she was a doctor...right? They are not terribly different from regular cigs. Perhaps some challenging mental/physical activities would be a nice distraction...she should be on MINUTE TO WIN IT or something, haha (which, by the way, airs on NBC Tuesday, Dec 7th at 8/7c...sooo excited). It would be great if they did a celebrity edition. I hear they're doing Christmas specials and stuff, too. Can't wait!

Why have e-cigarettes become so popular? The top reasons are that your health will improve, you start saving money and you will not have that odor about you. They contain 4 ingredients that are not harmful to your health. Unlike the FDA is trying to claim in the States. While they still allow other stop smoking products that contain nicotine. http://newtech-news.com/e-cigarette-review/ which finally helped me find the best one available. They have new flavors coming out just in time for the holidays. If you smoke, make that decision to quit today. Stop by and read their reviews and research. Cheers!

Electronic cigarettes are better for you even if only because they don't contain 4000 chemicals when used. It's better to read up on a subject before you post. Here's an example: http://www.quit-smoking-comparison.com/e-cig

Actually, electronic cigarettes are the leading cause of electronic cancer.

The only thing, Katherine, is remove the "good" from the "buzz" talk. Don't label "buzz" as a necessarily good thing.

I watched cigarettes kill my grandmother a slow painful death. I can't believe anyone today smoking them. There is sooo much information telling us how bad they are for you. It is very unattractive for anyone to smoke. Cigarette smokers don't inhale... THEY SUCK!

Good for her!!! I am moved by what she says to her daughter. I am an avid smoker and had my heart wrenched out of me a couple of days a go when my 2 1/2 year old picked up my pack of cigarettes from my purse and said "okay mommy i'm going outside to smoke now...just like you!!"...It takes a lot of balls to quit, so I commend her.

Try http://www.americaneliquidstore.com and watch their training videos. I started there 2 weeks ago by buying a 510 starter kit, and so far I've cut down by 2/3 to 10 tobacco cigs a day without even trying! I'm not quitting nicotine right now, just tar and fear of the grim reaper.

Hah. Here's the big joke – electonic cigs aren't bad for you. Perhaps you should look up the ingredients on what you're inhaling, because one of the main ingredients is a chemical used in anti-freeze.

Unless you can tell me what exactly that chemical is and what it specifically does, I'm not worried. 'Chemicals' are in everything. They are everything.

You know what else is is a chemical used in Anti-Freeze? H-2-O... AHHHHH We're all drinking chemicals used in anti-freeze. Please stop mindlessly repeating what idiot senators who are in the pocket of Big Tobacco are getting paid to tell you. Electronic cigarettes have helped a lot of people and would help a lot more, if only people in government weren't getting paid so much money to keep them out of the mainstream.

I assume that you are talking about Propylene Glycol. Maybe you need to start looking things up yourself. PG is a common FDA approved product. Its used to make anit-freeze less toxic. Not to mention that its used in a myriad of household and medical products including including oral, injectable and topical formulations.

The ingredient you refer to is not in the vegetable glycerine that most people use in their electronic cigarettes. That's in PG, not the VG used these days by most, including me. I smoke only a third of the tobacco cigarettes I used to.... these things are helping me quit tobacco.

Hello, here's an article on The Side Effects of Electronic Cigarettes – http://goarticles.com/article/The-Side-Effects-of-Electronic-Cigarettes/5536770/

PG or propylene glycol, the ingredient used in anti-freeze, is an ingredient that is "generally recognized as safe" by the FDA for use in food.
