Portia de Rossi has officially taken the last name of her very famous talk-show host wife. "I just got some amazing news," her wife, Ellen DeGeneres, 52, tweeted yesterday. "The court has granted Portia's name change. She's now officially Portia Winfrey."
She was kidding, of course. According to news site TMZ, an LA County Superior Court judge granted 37-year-old de Rossi's name-change petition yesterday so that she will now be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.
"Lee" is the Australian actress's middle name (she was born Amanda Lee Rogers), though the addition of "James" remains unclear.
Regardless, the star, who wed DeGeneres in August 2008, couldn't be happier. "I am thrilled to legally adopt my wife’s name," says the star, whose memoir, "Unbearable Lightness," hits bookstores in November. "I will continue to use Portia de Rossi for professional purposes.”
