Bosnian actress lands lead in Jolie filmIt looks like Angelina Jolie has held firm to her desire of using as many locals as possible in her film set during the Bosnian war. The 35-year-old actress has tapped a Bosnian thespian, Zana Marjanovic, to play the lead role in the movie, which is about the budding romance between a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman. "The story is very complex but is primarily a love story," Marjanovic said when she confirmed that she’d landed the part in Jolie’s directorial debut. “Angelina is a wonderful person and it is a great honor for me to work with such a superb actress and humanist,” she added. The actress, who according to Reuters has previously acted in two Bosnian films and a series of plays, said shooting will start this week in Budapest. |

I believe Angelina made a research first as not to offend anybody in this movie. Although the nice comment by Zana Marjanovic may be partial because she will be in the movie, I'll give this movie a chance. It's been a while since I've seen a good love story, as far back as "Ghost", and before that, "Somewhere in Time".

this movie will be a disaster because such a storie is so disturbing since when did bosnian women fell in love with serbian butchers?? the war is over but who is responsible for more than 100 thousand rapped women in bosnia? how many of them gave birth? I am so sorry as a survivor of this war to reopen the wounds that have newly been healed. I will not watch this movie because I just can't accept this kind of senaryo. it is not true... this must have been based of facts not lies and serbian propaganda.
I agree. She is trying to capitalize off of the very painful personal tragedies of others to create a buzz around her film. She gives no respect to those that actually faced and still face the hard realities and aftermath of the war. What does she care that she misrepresents the sentiment of an entire nation? As long as she gets her fame and wealth, that's what her focus is. This is totally in keeping with her M.O. of going to impoverished countries for a weekend in order to get photographed for publicity, and then turns around and purchases (yet another) multi-million exclusive mansion. What a slap in the face. Even her children are hand-picked to give her exotic appeal, and then dumped off to a full-time nanny to raise. She has no concept of reality, and this film is just another example of that self-serving callousness.
