It was like 1995 all over again last night, except Monica Geller and Rachel Green were going by different names, seemed to have lost a few of their "Friends" and were over on ABC instead.
Yes, as was previously reported, last night was Aniston’s guest role on Cox’s comedy “Cougar Town,” in which she played a sage-bearing therapist. While some critics seemed pleased that she still had comedic timing on the small-screen, THR reports that the ratings weren't exactly astounding, with 8.3 million tuning in, a drop from last year's season opener that pulled in 11.4 million.
Yet the night wasn’t all bad for ABC, because right before “Cougar Town” aired the network had a ratings win with “Modern Family.” The series garnered 12.6 million viewers, setting a record for the series.
But among the new shows, J.J. Abrams’ “Undercovers” didn’t overwhelm last night with 8.5 million watching and a low rating in the key demographic of 18-49, while CBS' "The Defenders" opened strong with 12.1 million viewers.
Did you catch any of these shows? What's your verdict?
Jennifer Aniston has never been able to act. She's not even beautiful, she's cute. Why do I see her everywhere? Oh yeah, the famous loser in the famous triangle!
turned another channel after 10 mins. Aniston is over rated & this show should be canceled !
I'd nail it.
Chester, thank you, I had a bet going that this blog would not close b/4 some guy said something similar to your post.....you guys are sooooo predictable! Guys ....you gotta love em :)
Two points. On Jen A. she needs to do ONE thing so that every role she takes looks different than just her RACHEL playing a new character and that would be CUTTING her hair and actually doing something different physically! She has had the same hair since friends and even when she took roles outside of friends she has the same hair. It's her physical likeness to not only that character (yes, I know, it's her look at the character) but the fact that it never changes that I don't see a difference. It would be great to see her have some range not only in the characters but in wardrobe, body, hair, accent and the like.
the second point is with the show itself. It's a great show of characters but they have INSTANTLY become cartoon characters as the show moves from being about finding a man whether young or old to a show about a group of "friends". There was magic in the stories when we saw them at the real estate office, or when Barb would pop in and compete with Ellie. Mature them up but keep it funny. NOT ALL OF THEM can be drunks.
Aniston simply does not HAVE the range, no matter what she does to her $35,000 hair.
And you're right about the Cougar show in general.
Jen is probably one of the most overrated actresses I've ever seen in TV or Movies. How she won an emmy for Friends is beyond me. Courtney and Lisa K were so much funnier on that show. Jen is always whiney and nasal. If she didn't have perfect hair, bone structure, a great body and come from an acting family, she would have been an Abercrombie model for about 6 years then she'd be done. It's ridiculous how much she gets paid for these lame movies and horrible appearances in TV. Megan Fox is from the same mold. Ridiculously beautiful, but couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. The only good movie Jen was in was Office Space and it really wasn't even her role that made that a good movie. She peaked before she even started. I'd love to see her just go away. I'm so sick of seeing her everywhere. It's just gets really annoying.
She's not skinny enough for Ambercrombie! (not saying that's a bad thing)
Jen An was a total snore. She looked orange and she didn't deliver one joke. I really love Cougar Town and hope they don't bring her back. They need to introduce new characters not celebrity baggage. This show is awesome. It works well because all the characters love/hate each other. Lets keep that going.
As long as Cox and her neighbor are together, the show is over. They need to somehow bring back the tension between those two – or a different two.
If the "Castle" show makes the same mistake by bringing Beckett and Castle together, that will be their last season.
Oh brother! Hang it up Jen! It wasn't even funny or even slightly entertaining.
The only show I was interested in watching was Modern Family. It was alright. Most of last season's episodes were better.
Love Jen but the hype did not live up to the outcome. I love "Cougar Town" and Jen's appearance won't ruin the show but it didn't contribute enough to be an ongoing charecter...sorry Jen...
Her role was "age appropriate." She looked and dressed, and certainly acted, the age we are–we're the same age. Well, I think she acted a bit older. I really do not think her "plumped" look was elective. It is the look before the fall, and I think she is ready. Courtney on the other hand...I love Courtney!
Jen nailed it! But her part was too small. She and Courtney are always a great comedy team.
Aniston's face was all plumped out like she's have too many fillers. I'm all for upkeep, but we all need to recognize age-appropriate appearance, & she was barely recognizable. The script wasn't terrific, but I still love all the regular characters.
Jennifer Aniston is highly overated. She should branch out into books, perfume, pershaps a clothes line to be sold at Target.
Don't give her any ideas!!! She should be able to live very comfortably off Friends residuals, etc. She ought to take a little time away from the screen, television, tabloids, blogs, flickr, youtube, etc., etc., etc., and stop posing for photos on the beach.
Jennifer, didn't your mother ever tell you that absence makes the heart grow fonder? Take a break!
