Expectations were high for Tuesday night's premiere of Fox's "Running Wilde," a new show from the "Arrested Development" team of co-creator Mitch Hurwitz and star Will Arnett.
Arnett's Steve Wilde is the spoiled, sheltered filthy rich owner of Wilde Oil, just a shade different from his "Arrested" character Gob. Keri Russell plays Emmy, the environmental activist he grew up with and fell for.
When Arnett is let loose, it's always entertaining, and Russell is good in pretty much everything. Unfortunately, it's a little troubling that their scenes apart seem to work better than when they're together.
The show definitely has its moments, like when Emmy's silent daughter finally speaks for the first time, and Arnett thinks he's learned how to read minds. Also, David Cross is perfect as self-described "ecoterrorist" Andy, Emmy's boyfriend (we'll see more of him later). I also loved Peter Serafinowicz as Steve's rival Fa'ad.
But at the end of the day, this show is about the relationship between Steve and Emmy, and so far, they're not really clicking the way they should be. Maybe it's that we've seen this sort of thing before with the straight woman reacting to the crazy guy's antics, or maybe Russell is almost too normal in Arnett's world of absurdity. Whatever it is, we'll need to believe in this relationship more for the show to be successful.

I thought it was okay but not great. Keri Russell just didn't work me; I felt like she was supposed to be funny in parts, but wasn't. I thought their chemistry was decent, though. The daughter, though, cracked me up multiple times.
I think the show was hysterical! Will is beyond funny and Keri is adorable! It's fresh, off beat and really funny. There were some truly brilliant moments.
I hope people will give it a chance.I want to see more!
Both me and my husband loved it! laughed out loud and giggled all the way through! It is odd, silly and sharp. I didn't think the chemistry was lacking. Especially when they got close enough for the "magnetic pull effect" in the closet. I sincerely hope this one makes it. I need a show that makes me laugh right now, and this one made me laugh a Lot! Loved Fa'ad and his absurd tiny horses. And the bleeped word was priceless. Please watch and give this one a chance!
well i saw the pilot it was okay, keri's just gotten older and she looks it! as far as her acting, she's good at acting sincere and thoughtful and she's like the calm and will is the storm! but the chemistry was non existent but it's only the first show, we have to see where the season goes then you can get a sense of where the show is going!
I didn't really enjoy the show. The only time I laughed out loud was when he thought he could read minds. And I do enjoy Peter Serafinowicz. I can't really put my finger on why I didn't like it because I enjoy Will Arnett. I'm not sure Keri Russell is his equal in this one.
