Hayden Panettiere to portray Amanda KnoxLifetime has plans to bring the story of Amanda Knox to the small screen, and “Heroes” star Hayden Panettiere will play the lead, according to Variety. Knox, who as a U.S. student studying abroad in Italy was convicted of murdering her British roommate Meredith Kercher, is currently serving a 26-year prison sentence. The film, Variety reports, will follow the events that surrounded the headline-grabbing trial. “The Amanda Knox Story” comes from the same folks who brought you Discovery's “Dirty Jobs,” and is in fact the production company's first scripted project. The movie is expected to debut on Lifetime sometime next year.

ummm, exuse me but i believe that Amanda is innocent folks! i mean, be honest.! there wasnt enough evidence to actually prove she did it. you cant just SUSPECT she did it. espcially since the jury system goes by guilty until proven innocent! you dont have hardly a chance to be heard. And think about the hours of questioning. OF COURSE U'D THINK SHE WOULD SAY A FEW THINGS WRONG! i mean, HOURS! and i think justice wasnt served due to the lame amount of evidence. there was NOTHING on meredith's body or around her(DNA wise) and so there is completely NO proof she did it. i can be on the other side and realize if she did kill Meredith Kercher, then i would feel bad for saying that i think she was actually innocent. But with my RELIABLE reserch on her for a power point presentation and essay, i believe she is innocent and they put some 23 year old girl in jail for 26 years. When she gets out she will be 49. Think about all those years in jail and ur guilty JUST BECAUSE OF THE WAY COURT WORKS IN ITALY! that is a HUGE mistake there!

A lot of hard work is required to penetrate the spaghetti curtain (smoke screen) to understand what happened, but what happened is very simple. Guede was desperate for money. Recently the cops caught him with items he stole from a law office!!! Guede watched the girl's secluded apartment several days, then Nov 1, 2007, around 8 pm (his 1st arrival is recorded on CCTV cam) he busted the window then ran away to prevent getting caught in case someone heard the glass break and called the police. Soon he returned (his 2nd arrival is recorded on CCTV cam) and climbed in the window shortly before Meredith unexpectedly came home (her arrival at her apartment driveway is recorded on CCTV cam). He was plundering Filomena's room when he needed to use the toilet. When he heard Meredith come in the door he got quiet. She walked to her bedroom (grabbing Amanda's lamp on the way) not knowing he was there. She called her mom at 8:56 pm then seconds later he surprise attacked her, interrupting the call before her mom could answer (before call data could be recorded). Guede ended the call and soon he ended her life. He acted alone out of greed and desperation.

it's hard to tell if she's guilty or not , but the Italian government is one of the most corrupt governments in the world! I am sure someone was paid a nice penny to find her guilty....

Jerry, the exact opposite is true. Italian prosecutors have a number of tough hearings to get through, many judges are involved, even for murder charges most suspects get out on bail, juries are usually more upscale, there is the judges sentencing report where judges must put their careers on the line, and then there are two automatic appeals. Good system when you examine it.

I just read MURDER IN ITALY by Candace Dempsey and many of you need to stop fabricating lies. Her DNA was nowhere; not in the blood, not in the bathroom's blood, not in the other bathroom's feces. Rudy Guede's fingerprints WERE found in Meredith's blood.Amanda smoked pot with Raffaele and detested other drugs as did he. She was not a spoiled girl, EVER, like the world press has made her look like. She worked two part-time jobs while at UW, one in Italy and often wrote in her diaries that she should focus on her studies in Italy & spend her $4,400 in savings while there instead of working. She & Raffaele also changed their stories because they were screamed at, beaten and denied any contact with lawyers or family contact until they "remembered properly." Also, the prosecutor, Mignini, has been convicted of corruption, tampering & intimidation and is still allowed to practice law there. SO, anyone who thinks there is the slightest inkling of a chance that she is guilty should do the world a favor and sew their fat mouths shut!

All because we complain about it all and refuse to get up out of our recliners and actually try and make a change and let our voices be heard! We deserve what ever we get if we do nothing to help and better ourselves.
She is innocent. Someone came forward with evidence and the actual murder weapon. The murder weapon used in court did not match the wounds on the victim.

I am Italian and the first to admit that the legal system thee is as slow as can get, but for what I understand the evideence against the two lovebirds, amnda and her boyfriend, were solid. I hope that justice was indeed served and let's not forget that a young girl lost her life in all this. RIP Meredith.

Why do you assume that the Italian judge and jury did not hear all of the facts–at the very least a level equivalent to our own courts in the USA. I'd ask you the same question you asked Chris–do you know her personally? Do you know the court didn't hear all the facts personally?
