Things are picking up in the land of the D.C. "Housewives," but for all the wrong reasons.
For starters, there was the way Tareq decided to wrap up a friendly dinner and a day at the winery. “Hey, come spend the day at my winery, sit down and have a meal and, by the way, your child is a car thief!”
These Salahi people are hardly hosts of the year. Tareq told Mary (and everyone else in the room, not to mention Bravo’s audience) that her daughter was involved with the theft of his $90,000 car and some polo equipment, and that she had posted about it on Facebook. Mary could barely say anything she was so shocked, and she ended the evening in tears.
Stacie and her husband Jason stepped in to talk about how wrong it was to accuse the girl like that. Stacie and Jason might have been the only cast members left who were giving the Salahis the benefit of what Jason called “mounting doubt.”
To top it all off, Michaele claims the charity suffered. Really? Your husband says your friend’s child committed a felony that the FBI is investigating and you’re talking about how some charity suffered? I love that Jason called them on their nonsense.
I’m sure that’s not going to be the end of that. Lolly, Mary’s daughter, thinks they should just drop it because the Salahis want the attention. Her parents say they checked with authorities to make sure there was nothing to what the Salahis said, but they didn’t confront them about it yet.
On a side note, I think Bravo ought to consider giving the D.C. guys their own show. (Except for Mr. Salahi.) They don’t seem to take themselves too seriously and they’re funny or outraged when the situation calls for it.
Michaele, on the other hand, needs to change her name to “deluded.” When she thanked her assistant for helping out for the day at the winery, she talked about how perfect the day was. Yeah, aside from Cat feeling like she needed to leave early and accusations of felonies flying around. And, knowing what we all know about the Salahis’ activities, it was pretty funny to hear her wonder why someone would post their nefarious activities on Facebook.
And is it just me, or does Cat seem to seek out situations where she can irritate people? She had lunch with a Republican lobbyist she met at the Salahis polo event and proceeded to insult GOP policy and candidates - and she was just getting started.
Despite all the insults, the lobbyist invited Cat, her husband and whatever friends they wanted to bring to a health care reform event. Cat enlisted the help of her small girls to choose an inappropriate outfit. Why even go if you oppose Republicans and everything they stand for? Why try to start trouble? Why go dressed as Sarah Palin? It wasn’t a costume party; even her husband wasn’t sure what to say about it. Then she confronted Michaele’s assistant about calling her out of her name on winery day. Who knows what might have happened if the lobbyist had been able to make it.
All these reality shows seem to play up a villain, and while I think Michaele and Tareq are in the lead on that one, Cat seems to be making an effort to take the title. What do you think? Who’s your least favorite D.C. housewife?
