Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin join 'Scream 4'The celebrities are piling up on the set of "Scream 4." In addition to assembling a who's who of young Hollywood, Dimension Films has confirmed that Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell are also joining what we hope will be a bloody good time. As with most of the roles in this latest “Scream” installment, it’s unknown as to who Paquin and Bell will portray, but we do know they’ll be sharing the screen with other “Scream” newcomers like Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts, Adam Brody and Alison Brie.
Roberts will play Sidney Prescott's cousin Jill, who has been painted as the heroine of the film, while Panettiere is Jill’s film geek best friend, Kirby. Brody will play the boy in blue as the recently graduated Detective Hoss, and “Mad Men’s” Brie will play Sidney’s personal assistant who’s jealous of Sidney’s fame. Of course, it wouldn’t be a scream without Sidney Prescott, so Neve Campbell is returning to reprise her role as the tortured young woman, along with two of the "Scream" franchise's other regulars, Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette. The “Scream” trilogy, which has earned close to $300 million domestically, had Wes Craven directing for all three installments, and the horror king is back on board as director/producer of “Scream 4.” The slasher is expected to slice into theaters in April 2011. |

wow all these racist ignorant responses to a fact statement are truly alarming living in 2010 going into 2011. yes black actors SHOULD be portrayed in these films as should more LATINO AND ASIAN actors. we aren't living in 1960 anymore. you bigots need to grow up. yes there are people of color in the previous scream films but they were complete throw away characters that didn't matter and were killed off quick, although Sid's best friend made it through and died a VERY dumb death towards the end of s3. and to the idiot who says black movies barely have white actors and when they do they are portrayed negatively... how dumb and hallow you make yourself sound. blacks and any other minorities are ONLY portrayed as negative and they are bombarded by nothing but white is right since white people came to america and killed and overthrew human beings so they could control and manipulate a generation of human beings to bow to them, PATHETIC and to hear white people having the audacity to complain about looking bad in a black movie shows just how petty and low of version of human beings most of you white people are. get over yourself.
Definitely waiting for this one

MMMM, Adam Brody
ok, beings i'm 22 i kinda grew up with scream. scared me when i was younger, not so much, but i still love it. but, i know i was in like 5th grade when scream 3 came out... i think after all this time you ought to give the remakes and sequels a rest please! but i can be honest and say i'll complain all the way up to the release and then i will be sitting right there in the theatre!
David Arquette is all that is required. His character MADE those films worth watching. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? How many stab wounds does it take to kill David Arquette? The world may never know?
Why????

I particularly like how they didn't even bother to use a simple red-eye filter on Anna's eyes in that file photo. Normally they are beautiful, but that picture makes it look like an ad for True Blood or something....there's enough of that already in the background!
Uh... that's not red eye, that's brown eye. As in her eyes are brown.
I'm actually excited about this. I saw Scream 7 or 8 times in the theater, and then weekly on VHS after that for about a year. Big fan of the series, and can't wait for this latest installment. I like that they brought in a new "Randy", rather than another video tape. I'd actually like to see the "regulars" killed off, and this new lot continue the franchise. I think I'd watch just as many "Scream" movies, as I would Nightmare on Elm Streets, or Saw flicks. You keep making them, and I'll keep watching! Except you, Rob Zombie, with your terrible Halloween remakes. Stop it, alright? Just stop it!
Well said Kevin. And totally agree about Rob Zombie. I like these movies because I like these movies, and can't wait for more.
Went on a 5 day bender about 12 years ago which ended in the Sydney,Australia premiere of Scream 1 (Totally should of had a sleep before this one) Spilt a chocolate Sunday on myself and then had to turn my pants around. I guess you can do the maths. Wes after Last house on the Left, Hills have eyes and Scream 1 so glad you are back. (Will be mega!!!)
Never mind the Scream movie, will these hotties reprise their role in the Scary Movie version that will follow??
I hate it when they make a sequel for the sake of sequel ($), let alone 3 more movies.
And your dumba55 will still watch it!
BCX I believe Anthony Anderson is in the movie. So get over yourself. their is no law saying every color has to be represented on screen. Maybe they just picked thee most talented actors they saw for the parts. By the way it's the African American movie that don't have any white people and when they do we are made fools of.
It will be funny and you all will watch. On another note, so glad Paquin learned "the way of the purge" like many of her actress counterparts in the industry. Nobody likes a fatty vampire.
first of all she isn't a vampire...and second of all she looks fabulous...
no more original ideas??
You must've missed the memo where they said numbers are SO in... ;P
Today's news has been brought to you by the number 4.
And of course no black actresses in the film. So typical of Hollywood!
No because if it had a black female as a character getting killed off, it would be dubbed as 'racist' by the black community. It's only okay to target white people as far as the P.C. media is concerned.
Right, because they never put black people in these movies. Wait- Wasn't a black actress killed off in part 2- oh wait, there were 2 black actresses, and Omar Epps. Isn't that a black camera man in part 2, also? And wasn't that lil Kenny (Bubba) from the Cosby Show in part 3? I didn't see Rudy, but I'm still pretty sure that was Kenny.
It's not Hollywood's fault. The problem is most black women weigh over 500 lbs and its just not very suspenseful watching a 500 lb woman trying to run away from a slasher!
Take your "racial issues" and cry us a river.
The older Scream movies had African American people in it... maybe you should quit whining and channel your energy into something more beneficial to yourself.
Isn't it obvious. The reason why no black actors are featured is because they have more common sense in a horror flick. They're quick to get the hell out of there while white people stay and get cut up...simple scary movie logic lol.
Well, this does seem like a natural next step for her. She's good at opening and ending each True Blood episode screaming at something or another.
Well said Mike!!!
Oh joy. Screaming boys and girls.
Years ago, Craven, himself, said something that if he went on to make another Scream movie it would have to be a completely different concept. I hope that is the case here instead of everyone looking for more work to keep their career afloat.
To a point I agree with you... however Anna Paquin is red hot right now she does not need to 'keep her career afloat.' Courtney Cox is hot with her own TV show and David Arquette chose to leave acting to focus on producing. Hayden Panettiere just came off four seasons of "Heroes" and Neve Campbell ... well I don't know what her story is. It's not that she can't act ... I just don't think she has elected to do much.
This is one thing that confuses me when people put down actors because they are no longer 'celebrities.' Just because someone isn't in the spotlight at the moment doesn't mean they aren't working or that their work isn't good. In fact the actors not in the spotlight usually produce higher quality work.
Umm, Mike? I'm pretty sure the OP meant Neve Campbell, and David Arquette when they said "trying to keep their career afloat". Courtney Cox is doing OK with her show, so that only leaves the other 2.
They look so alike.love the Scream movies
Another movie series that should be left to die.
Right- because we have to make way for yet another Vampire movie, or Exorcism flick, or maybe even another remake of a horror film that never should have been touched (Halloween, Friday the 13th, NOES). Maybe a 3-D flick about killer fish (also a remake)?! At least they're continuing the story, instead of arrogantly assuming they can improve on the original (by the way, all above mentioned remakes were absolute insults to the original, and all around terrible horror films). Let go of your negative outlook on horror films. Stop it you, just stop it!
One of the things that I know about Wes Craven is that given enough time, he can reinvent the way horror movies are made. This might be one of those times.
I just hope these actresses can act better than 2 & 3. They were desperately unimpressive and the script lacked intensity, realistic features and responses as well. GooD luck, I will watch but oly to see if they are any better.
What other twist or turn is there for this franchise? Part 3 was really stretching it. However I some what like the cast. If i have seen all of the other movies then i have to watch this one.
Kristen Bell......mmmmmmmmmmm.
I agree....
I'd tap that...
