Behind the Scenes on 'Showbiz Tonight': Who's the most provocative celeb this week?

The conversation this morning in the "Showbiz Tonight" morning meeting was all about Jennifer Aniston. Yesterday on “Regis & Kelly”, Aniston slipped up on live television as she was describing the experience of dressing up as Barbara Streisand for a Harper’s Bazaar shoot.

Jaws dropped in the "Showbiz Tonight" newsroom when Aniston casually joked with Regis, “"Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard." It was an uncomfortable moment to say the least. But today there is sheer outrage!

Here at "Showbiz Tonight" we’ve heard from the Special Olympics and many other organizations about Aniston’s outrageous statement. Today we’ve got the latest on the story – and everyone’s asking: when will Aniston apologize?

It also raises the big question today – will "Showbiz Tonight" name Jennifer Aniston as the “Most Provocative Celebrity of the Week”? Between her big slip-up with Regis and her battle with conservative Bill O’Reilly over single motherhood, Aniston’s certainly in the running.

But then again, there’s “Jersey Shore” star Nicole Polizzi, perhaps better known as "Snooki." The "Showbiz" team was really duking it out in the meeting over whether she should be crowned “Most Provocative Celebrity of the Week.”

Here's what's going on with Snooki: Prosecutors are now charging her with being “criminally annoying." Snooki plans on pleading “not guilty,” but the "Showbiz Tonight" staff was pretty much unified in one belief: the Snookster, as we lovingly refer to her, is really annoying. It’s Aniston vs. Snooki, battling for the title of “Most Provocative Celebrity of the Week!" Bet you never thought you’d read about these two stars in the same sentence.

Also on our radar: Larry Birkhead’s startling brand new revelations about Anna Nicole Smith and the very latest with Michael Douglas’ battle with a tumor in his throat.

Watch "Showbiz Tonight" live at 5 p.m. today. And remember, we’re still TV’s most provocative entertainment news show seven days a week at 11pm ET/PT!

look up the word retard in the dictionary.... she was most likely not comparing herself to someone who has a disability...she was just using a word that happens to be in our english language. please.....anyone who gets a jolt out of this one...really needs to get a life...spend that energy on something purposeful!

Yes Virginia, some people are retarted, some are short, some are cross eyed, some have lisps, some people have toes that are not all the same size, IMAGINE. That's just the way it is. Get over it
