Hilary Duff gets hitched to hockey starThe summer of celebrity weekend weddings continues with Hilary Duff, who is the latest star to exchange "I dos." The "Cinderella Story" actress wed Canadian hockey star fiance Mike Comrie over the weekend. Duff, 22, and Comrie, 29, exchanged vows Saturday before 100 of their family members and friends in an intimate ceremony at a $29 million estate near the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, reports Us Weekly. The bride wore a strapless Vera Wang with her hair in a bun, and walked down an aisle strewn with rose petals and candles. Duff's big sister Haylie, 25, was maid of honor.
The couple met on a 2007 trip to an Idaho resort and got engaged during a Hawaiian vacation last February. Saying yes to the 14-carat, radiant-cut sparkler was a no-brainer, Duff said. "He's generous, caring, funny," she explained. "We just laugh our heads off, which I need in my life ... He's unique. I wouldn't want to be with someone who wasn't unique."

I did not know her boyfriend was a Hockey player. I love her music.
I'm not a fan, but I do give props to Hilary Duff. Look at Lindsay Lohan compared to her. At least she can still be a teen icon unlike the drunken mess. She has been successful in her career and love life. Go Hilary!
Here's some advice: Mike, were not saying it's going to last forever. In fact it probably won't last 3-4 years. Her career will sour. She'll pop a few kids out. Things will start to sag a little. It's not like your career will go anywhere either. A little bit short and undersized. Enjoy while you can.
Take a good look at the mother, short and squatty and tempermental. The fruit often turns into the tree.

True, she has stayed out of trouble, but the whole goody two shoes bit is really sickening with her. The true talent is her sister, but she turned out to be cuter and got the part. Hillary will be fine. She is one of those who have that charmed life. Her husband must know how to deal with her short, fat, diva of a mother. No wonder her father cheated all those years on her. And yes, we know her mother firsthand.
I mean really,,, I know they (she) can afford it.. but a 14 carat ring ??? Who really needs something that huge and gaudy on their hand ????
MIke Comrie gave Hillary Duff a 14 carat engagement ring because it is a combined set. To commemorate their first anniversary he gave her a top of the line Mercedes.
No matter what you think or do or say, life ends in dust and disarray.
At the end of the day Hilary and Mike don't care what anyone on this Post has to say. They're happy, successful and in love. All the best to them in the future. The negative posters here are only jealous because Hilary and Mike get employee pricing at the Brick.
I'm happy for her. She was a delightful teen actress. She's the only brilliantly positive role-model who hasn't crashed and burned, as Linsey Lohan and Melssa Gilbert have.
@ Doug Miles – Um, when was Melissa Gilbert ever trying to be a role model? She played a gruff, screw-up of a daughter on tv. Also, did she crash and burn by coming out as a lesbian? Not everyone would agree with that.

Comrie is an unrestricted free agent and has no contract yet for the 2010-11 season.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Honestly, people have to be so ugly and negative anymore just to feel better about their own... whatever...is going on. 22 is too young to get married. Duff sets a terrible example for young girls. Their careers will not even allow them to spend time together so what's the point? Unless it is a sham marriage for publicity purposes.
Really 22 is too young, I got married at 18 and we just celebrated our 18th anniversary this july. It is not so much a person's age, as maturity level that matters. I know plenty of 40 yr olds that shouldnt get married because they act like a 5 yr old, but plenty of 18 to 20 yr olds that have a great head on their shoulders and are more than ready for it. She is a good person, and role model, a heck of alot better than most celebrities are and I wish her all the happiness that I can.

Hey idiot....I got married at 23 and I am still married 10 years later. For the record, it is the norm in a lot of other countries to be married by 22. I guess stupid Americans like you can't handle marriage that young because it takes you so damn long to grow the helll up. What a tool!!
Really? And you think you're who, now, to put an age limit on marriage?? Hate to tell ya, but people have been getting married at a relatively young age for ... well, ages, and actually have made it longer, happier, than those who get married in their 40's. I've been married since I was 19, and still couldn't be happier and still feel as much in love with my hubby as I did on day 1! Seriously, if you even knew what marriage was, you wouldn't be spouting your hate poison about being "too young" to be married. If 22 was too young, they wouldn't allow 18 year olds to marry, or 16 year olds with parental consent!

I married a few weeks before I turned 25. This coming May makes 24 years.

Statistically, half of all marriages in America end in divorce...and many of these are people who have gotten married younger than 25. I'd say 22 is a fair age to get married, not really that young. But I know plenty of girls around here who married right out of high school...now they're single moms!

Oh all the haters.....I don't believe it matters who he is or what he does. He plays for a hockey team. He makes money and makes her happy. And really isn 't that what life is about? Calling either one of these two a "star" is a joke. Mike Comrie can't skate to save his life! He'd have a better chance at stardom singing for her while she outs the skates on. Please do some research ( and as a personal favour, don't call him Canadian)
Comrie is an NHL player – he CAN skate. And he is Canadian as he was born and raised in Edmonton.

JP – you must not be a hockey fan. Players who lose teeth these days often have them replaced shortly after they're knocked out. SOme think the gap toothed grin is a badge of honor. Star? Mike Comrie a Star? He's not even signed to an NHL team! Has anyone seen him play. Back to back years he has been a member of two separate last place teams, and you are calling him a "STAR." Please do some research before posting such an egregious headline.

The guy has scored 30+ goals in two NHL seasons and 20+ in three other seasons. And the guy is still not even 30 years old yet. Maybe not a "star" but a decent enough player for you all to lay off a bit.
