Vince is officially falling on 'Entourage'Welcome back “Entourage” fans. You know, from time to time people ask me various questions - such as how my weekend was or what do I think of the new Lady Gaga song - and I can answer with the same general canned response: "meh." (The word "meh" is like the debit card of conversational currency; I love it because it can be used anywhere.) But for any of the feelings of "meh" I've experienced at certain points in the seventh season of “Entourage” thus far, "meh" was NOT the word I’d use to describe last night’s episode.
No, the proper word for the sixth episode of season seven is “dark,” as in, that was the darkest "Entourage" episode I've ever seen. That's right, people: the darkest. Sure, we've seen Vince in some tough spots throughout the show's run, where he loses his mojo and also loses interest in the life he has come to know and love. The Mandy Moore situation certainly smelled like depression a few seasons back, and navigating the various pitfalls of a Hollywood acting career seemed to really take its toll on him here and there. But this? This, my friends, is unprecedented. It just feels like a new version of Vince we haven't seen. This guy is teeter-tottering on the brink of epic foolishness. Now, by a show of hands, who among us actually likes this Vince? Anyone? Anyone? That's what I thought. I can't put my finger on when exactly the spiral began. I believe it may have been somewhere around the emergence of stuntman/plane jumper/biker Vince, but it’s hard to be certain. Spirals are unique that way. Things start off as generally exciting with a fresh new feel to it all, but eventually, the high of that excitement begins to do a 180. From there, the lows creep in without warning and the fall begins. That's where we are “Entourage” fans; Vince is officially falling. If you saw last night's episode and the way it ended, needless to say, you agree. If you didn't see it, take your left hand and give your right hand a smack. You missed a good one, and if you DVR'd it, my spoiler alert above exempts me from a smack as well. The crew, his agent, Stan Lee and pretty much any extra that walks across a scene in the show has been hard on Vince for his fling with adult film star Sasha Grey, but I honestly don't think that is his problem. It may be a hit on his public image, but it’s actually the tequila that's doing him in. I won’t speak from personal experience, but as much as I love tequila, nothing good ever comes from as many shots as Vince seems to be having. I'll just stop there, but I hope things turn around. Unfortunately, I see this storyline getting worse and Vince screwing up royally. Overall, the show's dialogue was very good across the board and the storylines moved well. Drama's jobless situation, Lizzie's shameless exodus and Ari's priceless squirming were all very entertaining. I thought two hilarious points of the show were Drama's conversation with Turtle ("It’s 2010 bro!"), and Lloyd's response to being asked about "treatment" at the hands of Ari Gold. Billy Walsh returned, and I couldn't help but have more questions than answers for this guy. He needs Eric? He's an ordained minister? He has four kids? He doesn't drink or curse anymore? Ladies and gentlemen, this is not Billy Walsh. This is Bill Walsh. This might even be William Walsh, but conventional wisdom says the real "Billy" comes back a little later. If I were to make a wager on this, here's a tip: always bet on "idiot". Billy Walsh certainly was one. As the credits rolled, I was pretty shocked and entertained. It was a dark, well-scripted episode, and I can't wait for next week. Loved, kinda liked, or hated this week's show? Let us know. |

first great episode in the past 4 years
Sad news about next season....:(... http://bit.ly/EntourageSe07Ep06
Vince has been nothing but a child the entire series dependent on the crew. With everyone focused on their own lives he's just seeking attention. It's time for him tofinally grow up! Can't wait to see how season 7 ends, and whether or not Vince becomes his own man or the next Lindsey Lohan.
Anyone else get the distinct impression there's something addictive in the tequila.. like maybe Cocaine?
Totally agree Jack – the fact that Drama started drinking it and liked it was the strongest clue so far that there's something in it that isn't in tequila ordinarily
Totally agree! Definitely a "special" tequila!
For those of us who live in LA, we know what comes next: AA and sobriety! Eventually, he will fall even deeper, lose everything that matters, then become sober. Then, we'll see the whole new "sober Vince" and his new sober adventures in Hollywood. Yawn.
