Let the fist-pumping commenceTonight we’ll welcome Snooki and the gang back into our living rooms and watch as the train wreck that was season one sucks us in all over again. That’s right - “Jersey Shore” is back. The season begins in “Real World” fashion as the roommates sporadically arrive at their new digs in Miami, which, by the way, blows their old shore house out of the water. (Of course, the duck phone will be missed.) The Uninvited: Who won’t be at Chelsea’s wedding? The guest list for the most talked about wedding of the summer is rumored to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 to 500 people, but when the father of the bride is a former President and her mother is Secretary of State, it’s safe to say that list had to be whittled down a bit. We already know one very prominent guest who will reportedly not be there, and that’s President Barack Obama. (But the President seems to understand. He told the hosts of “The View" Thursday, “I’m letting you know now: Y’all probably will not be invited to Sasha or Malia’s wedding, either.”) Joining Obama on the uninvited list is John Catsimatidis, owner of Red Apple and Gristedes supermarkets who, according to the New York Times, has raised millions for the Clintons. Guillermo del Toro and James Cameron to bring you 'Madness'Guillermo del Toro is keeping busy. On the heels of his announcement that he’s adapting Disney theme park attraction “The Haunted Mansion” comes news that he’s teaming up with James Cameron for another project: “At the Mountains of Madness.” It seems Cameron and del Toro will take H.P. Lovecraft’s tale and spin it for the silver screen in 3-D, with Cameron producing and del Toro manning the director’s chair. Lovecraft’s supernatural horror story follows a group of explorers who come upon a frightening discovery while on an expedition in Antarctica. Reportedly del Toro already wrote a script with Matthew Robbins back in 2004, and the pair are now reworking it for the current adaptation, which will reportedly begin shooting next summer. Behind the Scenes on 'Showbiz Tonight': Should Obama have done 'The View'?Today President Obama pulled off a presidential feat that had yet to be done: He became the first sitting President to appear on a daytime talk show by joining the ladies of “The View.” Some think he’s trying to garner up support from the soccer moms, and the "Showbiz Tonight" team is looking into criticism that the President shouldn't have gone on a talk show. Was it wrong for the President to go on “The View”? That's the debate we'll be digging into today. President Obama also delivered a whopper revelation today when he told the ladies of “The View” that he wasn’t invited to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding! What’s that about? Was it a big snub from the Clintons, or a smart move? "Showbiz Tonight" producer Jenny D’Attoma thought the decision was spot-on, saying this morning, “I’m glad President Obama wasn’t invited to the wedding because it’s Chelsea’s day.” It’s ‘purée-gate’ on ‘Top Chef D.C.’On last night's 'Top Chef,' there were claims of thievery in the kitchen. And with all of the trash talking, allegations of backstabbing and power grabs, it seemed like the chefs have really adapted to their surroundings. Enter guest judge and politician, Illinois' 18th District Republican representative Aaron Schock. Schock will also now be referred to as congressman ‘McBoring.’ The most thrilling part about him is that he is the youngest congressman serving – that, and his ugly pastel shirt. Schock introduced himself and filled the chefs in on the day’s Quickfire challenge. Being a congressman, he’s required to know professional ethics, with one rule being the congressional ‘toothpick rule.’ Meryl Streep and Tina Fey movie on its waySony execs have probably popped a few bottles to celebrate acquiring a Tina Fey/Meryl Streep film. The actresses are set to star in "Mommy & Me," which will be directed by none other than Stanley Tucci. Basically, everyone you want to work together in a movie now is. What exactly the movie will be about isn’t entirely clear, other than the fact that the script will highlight the ups and downs of a mother-daughter relationship. But we’re willing to bet that’s not deterring you from already making plans to see it. Zac Efron: Vanessa ok with strip club visitZac Efron is so adorable that he can make a visit to a strip club seem precious. The baby-faced “Charlie St. Cloud” star appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and the host wasted no time diving right into the New York Post report that Efron and his “High School” musical co-star Corbin Bleu had visited a strip club together. Efron, 22, said he’s legal and admitted that he had been to the club. “I’ve heard a lot about these places, mostly from rap music,” Efron said. “They are supposed to be pretty reputable, right?” If you're not watching 'Pretty Little Liars'... you should beMove over “Gossip Girl,” there’s a new teen drama in town. “Pretty Little Liars,” which could pass for the high school version of “Desperate Housewives,” has quickly gained recognition for its action-packed episodes and dynamic characters, like bisexual Emily Fields, played by 23-year-old Shay Mitchell. “I love 'Gossip Girl,' but 'Pretty Little Liars' is a lot more relatable in the sense that I think we're more like everyday American girls. … [The show] deals with issues that I think a lot of people are going through, especially my character,” Mitchell told Parade. Fight for survival on 'SYTYCD'Just when one might feel ready to hang up a sign saying "Two episodes since the last injury" on "So You Think You Can Dance," host Cat Deeley made the announcement at the very end of Wednesday night's episode that Lauren was being checked out by a medic. To say that the injury situation on the show is getting ridiculous would be the understatement of the year. As Cat said, fingers crossed for her recovery tonight. But before that big announcement, it was another great show with everyone having a good night. Even Jose was looking a little better, though the judges are still making it clear that he will probably face the axe (along with another dancer) if he doesn't get the votes this week. What President Obama has on his iPodJudging from the mix of musical talents that tend to drop by the White House - such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and the Jonas Brothers, all of whom were in attendance for "In Performance at the White House" Wednesday night - it's not a surprise that President Obama's iPod is fairly eclectic. While he doesn't have an iPhone yet, he does have "a great iPod," he assured the hosts of "The View." "You name a song, I've got it," the President said. "I’ve got Jay Z on there. I’ve got Frank Sinatra on there. I’ve got Maria Callas on there..." But somehow, there's one ridiculously popular teen singer Obama has left off his playlist: "I do not have Justin Bieber," he admitted. |
