Amanda Bynes: 'I've unretired'

Amanda Bynes: 'I've unretired'

Just one month after announcing that she was quitting acting, Amanda Bynes has had a change of heart. Temporarily, at least.

“I’ve unretired,” the 24-year-old actress wrote on Twitter July 23, before plugging a clip of her upcoming romantic comedy, “Easy A,” which arrives in theaters September 17.

Whether Bynes – who plays a religious high-school student in “Easy A” - means she’s back for good remains to be seen.

Last month, she revealed on Twitter that she was giving up her 14-year-career in show business because, “I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it.”

What’s more, she said, “I've never written the movies & TV shows I've been a part of. I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play."

The former Nickelodeon star has not yet revealed whether she has any new projects in the works.

"Adored"???...... Glad she is back too,she should enjoy her work & retire when she can no longer move !!! Look at Betty White...it was so silly to hear Amanda announce she was retiring.

Betty White is awesome. Her time in the spotlight is over once she stops being relevant- which won't be until after she has left us (hopefully many, many years from now).

I guess she did some job shopping and saw the salary ranges for uneducated 24 year olds.

I like Amanda Bynes but if she just announced her "retirement" as a publicity stunt than it might make me loose some respect for her. I guess only time will tell, right?

Oh yes, because I'm the one making disparaging comments about a young woman who's possibly having a rough patch in her career. You are quite observant, "@N," I'm glad you recognize how terrible I've been.

Not here to argue, but her "career"? You cant be serious. Thats why i didnt worry about her retiring. You have to have a career to retire from. Im willing to bet that less than 2% of the people who read this story didnt have to look up who she was afterward. This is a joke. Meryl Streep can "retire" from acting. This girl just got too old for Nickelodeon and doesnt have a job. Apparently when people arent offering movie roles, it means you're "retiring" now.

Thanks for that assessment, "@N," but what makes you draw *that* conclusion?
Ugh, I don't even care. I'm not getting into this over something so petty as a frivolous comment on a blog post.

Simply by the fact that you don't know how to "REPLY" to people and your posts are idiotic. So, you're just stupid or 13. Take your pick.

I like her too but of course it was a publicity stunt. Hello! she's got a moving that's going to be released in September. You cant 'retire', then make a movie and have it set to be released within a couple of months. She made the movie before 'retiring'. She knew the movie was coming out and since she's not really popular right now, she needed to find a way to draw attention to herself so she could plug the movie.

If the whole retiring thing is indeed a publicity, well that's more creative than pulling a stunt in clubs or joining a reality show or got impreganted with eight babies. I mean, she only did it once, can you count how many times Jay-Z retired?

Publicity stunt or not, I'm glad she's not retiring. :)

I'm glad you find it acceptable to insult perfect strangers on the Internet, "@N." I'm sure it makes you feel like a big person to insult someone who wasn't mudslinging in the first place.

I merely commented on the fact that the majority of comments that came after my original one were rude or just downright mean. Being the same age as Amanda Bynes, I can't imagine being in the public eye and the pressure to sell the product that is Yourself. I don't blame her for wanting to retire from acting and pursue something else, I'm just happy she's changed her mind (for now). And the fact that so many people blatantly cast judgement on her, and call her fat for no apparent reason, just shows a lack of intelligence on everyone else's part.

Keep your comments to yourself if all you have to say is unintelligible cruelty.

WOW....righteous indignation from someone as stupid as you. Still can't figure out how to "REPLY" to someone, can you?

  20. N

On my computer, at least, there is no "Reply" function when replying to someone else's reply. It's an issue with the site, not my abilities to use the internet. Lay off. You have no right to call me stupid, you don't even know me.

Yeah, and I stand by it. Look at the vitriol being spewed on this post.
I feel no need to have the last word because I'm certain you'll respond with something rude and unjustified. Have you nothing better to do than say cruel things to a stranger? I'd pity you if you mattered.

  23. @N

No, I don't have anything better to do but bust your chops and make you whine like a little girl. You deserve all the cruel things I can spew at you. Chumps like you always feel the need to condemn anyone that doesn't share your point of view. I see your comments on all the stories and as soon as someone disagrees, you feel the need to put them down with your backhanded comments. You are an idiot. It's apparent that intelligence doesn't run in your family.

So yeah, she "retires" makes a big deal out of it gets in the news then "un-retires" a month later? Seriously come on! 1. Get over yourself and your drama... i.e. grow up 2. Shut up and go back to "retirement" 3. If I even liked you to begin with I wouldn't now due to this ignorant behavior/drama.

  28. That Guy

I grew up watching Amanda Bynes. Im 25, and she was working nick the same time i was watching it. It would be great to see her become successful as an entertainer. However, looking at what is happening to some of the other young women growing up in the entertainment industry, I see why she is hesitant to get involved. Any intelligent person would absolutely want to weigh the pro's and con's before continuing in that lifestyle. Hopefully, whatever move she does finally make, she remembers to keep herself and her family first.
