Nicolas Cage drives out of hell (in 3-D)

You never know what you'll come across at San Diego Comic-Con.

During a rare moment on Friday where there wasn't an impossibly long line for Hall H, I poked my head in and saw Nicolas Cage and the cast of the upcoming movie, "Drive Angry 3-D. "

After the kid-friendly fun of  "Sorcerers Apprentice," Cage is back to action movies in a very big way.

Cameron Diaz: Stay married to one person? That's bull

Cameron Diaz: Stay married to one person? That's bull

Just when it seemed Cameron Diaz had hit a homerun by landing New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, the “Knight and Day” star admits she’s open to playing the field.

"I think the big misconception in our society is that we're supposed to meet the One when we're 18 and we're supposed to get married to them and love them for the rest of our lives. Bull[expletive]," Diaz, 37, told UK's Stylist magazine. Instead, she suggests, “Have someone for five years and another person for another five years.”

The actress, who previously dated Matt Dillon, 46, Jared Leto, 38, and Justin Timberlake, 29, has been linked to 34-year-old baseball star Rodriguez since the spring, and the pair enjoyed a night out in New York City on July 18.

"I think people get freaked out about getting married and spending 20 or 30 years sleeping with the same person, but if that's the case, don't do it,” she told Sylist. “Life is long and lucky and yes, love might last forever, but you don't always live with the person you love forever."

Casting Chronicles: Justin Bieber headed for 'CSI'

Those screams surrounding singer Justin Bieber are about to turn scary: The teen idol is guest-starring on the season premiere of CBS crime thriller "CSI."

In what CBS execs describe as event television, 16-year-old Bieber will play troubled teen Jason McCann, who, according to the network, is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother - a decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the "CSI’s."

Halle Berry will reportedly lead in a movie that sounds like it was inspired by "Sex and the City's" Carrie Bradshaw. "Shoe Addicts Anonymous," a forthcoming adaptation of the best-selling novel by Beth Habison, will focus on four Chicago women from various ethnic backgrounds who all have a shoe addiction and all wear the same size.

Guillermo del Toro takes on 'Haunted Mansion'

Guillermo del Toro takes on 'Haunted Mansion'

Guillermo del Toro may be done with “The Hobbit,” but the director has already picked his next project: directing a new adaptation of Disney's theme park attraction, The Haunted Mansion.

The “Hellboy” director announced the news yesterday at Comic-Con, noting that this interpretation would not, repeat not, be akin to Eddie Murphy’s “The Haunted Mansion” from 2003.

“We are not returning Eddie Murphy’s calls,” del Toro said, drawing laughs from the crowd. Instead, he's aiming for a “haunted house movie that a generation remembers and loves.”

Although the movie is based on a Disney theme park ride, del Toro said his direction will take the film to frightful places. "[W]e’re making the Haunted Mansion the most haunted place on Earth...this is going to be scary. If you take the children, they will scream," del Toro said. "But we hope that happens."

Second chances on 'SYTYCD'

On Thursday night’s results show - which opened with a tribute to dance legend and director of The Ailey School Denise Jefferson, who died Saturday after battling ovarian cancer - the judges were feeling extra charitable.

After Lauren, Kent and AdeChike found themselves safe from elimination, Robert and Jose performed solos in an attempt to stay in the competition. Billy, however, didn’t take the stage, despite being cleared by the doctor.

There are two ways of looking at this situation:

Eminem comes to the defense of Taylor Swift

He’s had choice words for everyone from Britney Spears to Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey over the years, but now Eminem is coming to the defense of Taylor Swift.

In the August issue of Spin magazine, the outspoken rapper reflects upon the 20-year-old country queen’s infamous moment at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in which Kanye West, 33, interrupted her Best Female Video acceptance speech, saying that Beyonce deserved her award.

Who's seeing 'Salt' this weekend?

Who's seeing 'Salt' this weekend?

“Salt” is probably one of the most anticipated films of the summer. Not only have the trailers promised a solid, engaging action drama, but it also heralds the return of Angelina Jolie as a badass who takes no prisoners.

Critics are offering plenty of prior warning about the inconceivability of the plot, but some were able to look past any plot problems and enjoy the ride.

As The Hollywood Reporter puts it, “While preposterous at every turn, ‘Salt’ is a better Bond movie than most recent Bond movies, as its makers keep the stunts real and severely limit CGI gimmickry. This is a slick, light summer entertainment that should throw considerable coin into Sony's coffers while re-establishing (if it needs re-establishing) Jolie's bona fides as an action star.”
