Dina Lohan: Lindsay's scared to death

Although Lindsay Lohan’s rumored new lawyer is lacking in experience, the family is still hoping that a fresh pair of legal eyes can help maneuver this case into an appeal and keep Lohan out of jail.

Lohan’s mother, Dina, told Entertainment Tonight that her daughter is “petrified” of the 90-day jail sentence she’s scheduled to begin serving on July 20.

“She’s scared to death,” Dina said in the interview, which airs Friday. “She’s strong, but until someone faces something as devastating as that….we're going to have to see.”

Gwyneth Paltrow pens a cookbook

Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow is adding another title to her resume: cookbook author.

In May, the A-list actress will release "My Fathers Daughter," a collection of her favorite recipes as a sort of tribute to her late father, director Bruce Paltrow.

"I always feel closest to my father, who was the love of my life until his death in 2002, when I am in the kitchen," she said in the August issue of Vogue. "I can still hear him over my shoulder, heckling me, telling me to be careful with my knife, moaning with pleasure over a bite of something."

Celine Dion expecting twin boys

Apparently Celine Dion and her husband René Angelil aren’t the kind of a couple who’d rather be surprised.

The superstar singer, 42, announced on her website that she and Angelil are expecting twin boys in November, making the couple’s 9-year-old son, Rene-Charles, a big brother twice over.

Dion announced she was pregnant with twins earlier this year after her sixth round of in vitro fertilization.

Emmy nominations had an awful lot of misses

Not an awards nomination ceremony goes by without someone, somewhere uttering those three little words: “But what about…”

This year's Emmy nominations were no different with some seemingly glaring oversights.

There wasn't a best comedy series bid for CBS’ little nerd show that could, “Big Bang Theory,” nor was there a best reality show bid for "Survivor." And how did Ed O’Neill earn the distinction of being the only adult cast member on ABC’s “Modern Family” not to be nominated?

LeAnn Rimes quits Twitter...for now

Maybe there is such a thing as oversharing.

Country singer LeAnn Rimes has announced that she's taking time off from Twitter after fans chastised her over a set of photographs that showed the 27-year-old getting steamy with boyfriend Eddie Cibrian as one of his young sons sat just inches away.

"Since when is kissing your boyfriend a crime?!" the divorced star - who had an affair with Cibrian, 36, while filming a 2009 Lifetime movie - tweeted July 6. "Who's right was it to take pics of us in a private moment and display them for judgement?!"

Today in the morning meeting, the "Showbiz Tonight" staff was fascinated by a brand new report that says Lindsay Lohan stands to make a million dollars on her tell-all when she gets out of jail!

Lindsay Lohan seeks a new lawyer

After the judge handed her a jail sentence, Lindsay Lohan handed her case to another lawyer. Lohan’s mother, Dina, confirmed to HLN’s Nancy Grace Thursday that Lindsay is seeking new legal counsel.

Lohan’s former lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, resigned on Thursday, shortly after releasing a statement about her client’s “harsh and unfair” sentence.

A rep for Holley would not release any additional details to PEOPLE.com. A woman introducing herself as Lohan’s new lawyer has reportedly been calling the L.A. Sheriff’s department, despite Dina’s assertion that Lindsay “has not yet decided who will be representing her.”

Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in a drug and alcohol rehab program for violating her probation. She is expected to return to court on July 20 to begin serving her sentence.

Madonna to Lourdes: Watch those hemlines!

Madonna has never been shy about showing a little skin, but she’s got a different set of rules for her daughter Lourdes.

“Sometimes she puts something on, and I'll be like, ‘My God, that looks amazing!’ And then I'll go, ‘Oh my god, that's my 13-year-old daughter,’” she told Teen Vogue.

While Lourdes is allowed to wear makeup to special events, “there's always a little bit of a discussion about how short the skirt is... or is there some cleavage showing,” explained Madonna, 51. “And I always say to her, do you want everybody to be staring at your breasts, or do you want people to talk to you?”

'SYTYCD' contender taken out by injury

As Thursday night's "So You Think You Can Dance" elimination show went along, I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that all of the suspense over which contestant would be taken out of the competition was for show, because we had yet to hear Alex Wong's prognosis. (Alex, coming off a lot of momentum from the week before, had been injured during rehearsals for Wednesday night's show.)

Unfortunately, it turns out I was right, and after a long explanation by Nigel Lythgoe - including a description of what a lacerated Achilles tendon is - we got the devastating news that Alex has to rest for three months after his operation.

For a lot of viewers, Alex was a big reason to watch this season. Here was a contestant whom the judges seemed to think was both the strongest dancer and had a very good shot at winning, unlike so many in the past. As Adam Shankman said, "You taught me the best could be better."

Mary J. Blige has Howard U. as top college choice

Superstar soulstress Mary J. Blige has announced that she's pushing full steam ahead not only on her business ventures, but with her education as well.

“As you know I never got a chance to finish high school but they gave me my honorary diploma the other day,” Blige said while performing on "Good Morning America." On top of that congratulatory news, the 39-year-old singer added, "And I got accepted to Howard University, Class of 2014!"

But Howard University officials claim that Blige’s announcement may have been an overshoot. The University has not confirmed Blige’s matriculation at the institution, but did release a statement lauding Blige for her musical talent and career.
