Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer: The penalty was harsh and unfairLindsay Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has released an official statement regarding the 90-day jail sentence her client was handed on Tuesday. “Ms. Lohan and I are extremely disappointed in the sentence handed down by Judge Revel. We believe that the penalty is far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances,” Holley said in the statement. “To be punished so severely for doing so, particularly in light of the fact that she substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions, is harsh and unfair.” And about that manicure – which Lohan has already tweeted was a joke – Holley said, “the fact is, the words could barely be seen by the naked eye. That a courtroom camera, purportedly there to accurately chronicle the proceedings, would use a telephoto lens to zoom in as it did to Ms. Lohan's fingernail is a commentary on the entire issue.” |

i think this is a blessing in disguise for her She needed to slow down and get away from all her enablers and such If it didnt stop now it would have just spiraled more out of control She needed a hard landing Anything else she would have not taken it seriously enough Maybe maybe she will get it now
Stars always get harsher treatments from the courts than regular people. It's a fact. You may not like her, but she is getting a far harsher sentence than she would have gotten as an unknown. Plus, she'll probably have to spend the entire 90 days when a normal person would have been let out in just a couple of weeks due to overcrowding.
REALLY.......... You have got to be kidding me if you really think she got a harsher sentence. WHY did she not get drug court for her possesion charge? She was let off and given chance after chance. I am sick of hearing her cry, cry, cry.... Grow up, she did the crime, she should do the time like the rest of us would have had to do. I have been in the system, done my time and recovered from my mistakes. I knew the consequences of my actions when I was done and I also knew if I continued down the path I was going there would be other consequences. Jail, convictions and so on. I choose to do the right thing. When did Linsey make any decisions based on consequences??? Tell me this Mr. Knowles.
the reason she got such a harsh sentence is her continual inability to do what the court has ordered her to do. no more, no less. it has nothing to do with her fame or the idea that she's disliked. disrespect the law, the law will disrespect you.
let me add one more thing AAA meetings take place in every major city /town in the united states and world wide--so to say she had to work around her schedule is an excuse
I know allot of celebrities and executives for major corp.'s who have been court ordered to AAA meetings every week . They made it work and did not go out to clubs or put them selves back in situations weer alchohoal drugs may be. If you truly wanty to recover to abstain from that sceen.
The judges ruling was fair this youn lady needs a wake up call and rehab after it........,..it wortked for other people hopefully it will work for her before it is to late
This woman feels that if you "substantially" comply with a court order then all is well. Do as the rest of us do and fully comply and then you won't have to worry about serving jail time. As for the "joke" on her fingernail, turns out the joke is on her.
Hey there ... I am sure you read these comments. I DO NOT believe people with drug or alcohol addictions should be in "jail". But, sweetheart, try to be strong and know that there are people who LOVE you.
It might suck, but don't do anything dumb before. Meditate, and be THANKFUL for the life you have had, and WILL have. Love and Blessings to you. XOX.
The attorney should have been monitoring her compliance and warned her she was in violation = so she must be a crappy attorney. As for Lindsey she is a spoiled brat and her mom is a loser. Lindsley should have been taken off to jail immediatly = what is this giving criminals time to get their lives in order. Only the famous and rich get that deal.
She will be out of jail in less than a day. However she should complete the full 90day treatment for drug & alcohol abuse. Judge Revel did her job & did it well. Now it is time for Lindsey & her lawyer to stop whining & complaining.it is what it is.
I have children who had similar problems and things had to get even worse before they got better. The truth is tough love is usually what is needed to save their life. Enabling (trying to shield someone from consequences) is often lethal when trying to help someone in the grip of drug & alcohol addiction. I hope she has had enough pain to have the desire to sober up. There is nothing harder than watching this disease destroy your children, knowing there is little you can do to help until they have the desire to get sober. I wish her the best.
The manicure was a joke??? I thought she said in court yesterday that she was not taking this all as a joke. Bad acting job Lindsay....you finally have to pay for breaking the laws, over and over again. time to grow up!
It wasn't harsh enough in my opinion. She has been getting away with alot and not doing what the court said goes to show that she thinks she's above all of that. I'm sure she won't be in jail the entire 90 days but she should be. After her time in jail, she needs to go away for awhile, keep a low profile and grow up!!
A combination of jail, community service, and some therapy sessions should be sufficient. Excessive jail time MIGHT work... but do you really think they would give her a year or more??? Even rappers have gotten off with about that much or less with weapons charges... so I doubt anyone would really consider jailing her for a long period of time.
If it was anyone else they wouldn't have gotten a first chance of freedom..How many chances should Lindsay get? She is a spoiled little brat who needs to learn a lesson or two.
I agree totally. Our son had a few run ins with minor possession charges of pot. The third time the judge gave him 160 days of which he served 90. After that he was on house arrest for another 90 days until his parole was complete. Little people are charged and punished, why should she be? Money and fame should not be a easy pass card. Is she troubled – most likily, however, so was our son. LA prisions let prisonors out early just to make space for the next lot. But this bull about her lawyer feeling the judge was unfair, is morte interested in getting paid than justice.
Might save her life. Look at Robert Downey, Jr.
Ok. So she got a harsh sentence. Boo-Hoo. Take it in, girlie, you messed up. I feel sorry for her, in that there was no real family example for her to follow, in a positive way. On the other hand, she has been reprimanded more than a few times now. If she wants to be taken seriously again, she has to come clean and give a real chance to the recovery process: Not pose nude, act like a nutcase, and get into trouble. Many celebs have done recovery programs, and successfully at that.
Shawn Chapman Holley is a nut. Lyndsay Lohan has CONSTANTLY violated the terms of her judgments. Missing a court date?? Because you are in Europe? Lost Passport?
This kid is sick. Maybe a few month’s in the slammer, with people who want to shall we say get to know her better..will straighten her out?
Aw....waaaa! Life is harsh and unfair honey! These stupid arrogant celebs should be made exaples of. Lindsey is out of control, has no respect for authority and needs to be taught a lesson. Good for the judge slapping her down.
Of course she thinks it harsh and unfair. That is what Lindsay is paying her for, isn't it?
EXACTLY. She's just doing what lawyers do... and we all know there can be some slimy ones as well... all about the $$$.
very funny.
... She will probably be out in a few weeks, so She wont learn from this situation and end up OD-ing
Sadly this is most likely what is going to happen to her. She has no interest in getting her life in order, she wants to party. That's Lohan's priority. She has flushed her career down the toilet.
I am so sick of the stars getting away with so much crap. If Ms Holley feels it was too harsh, she needs to find another profession! Lindsey was given so many chances to change but she didn't care – it showed through her actions. Also, if the middle finger display was a joke – it maybe ok in Hollywood but not in justice court! Why couldn't she have taken it off before court? Why didn't Ms Holley say something since she was her babysitter? It's time Ms Lohan took responsibility for her actions. If you look at the sentence, she was sentenced for three crimes not just the one. It could have been worse! All I have to say to Lindsey = GROW UP and STOP WHINING!!!! Remember – IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THE TIME – DON'T DO THE CRIME!!!!!!!!
She's in the right profession... lawyers have to protect their clients... I mean they do have the option not to, but with all that money in her pocket do you really think she would turn her back? Not a chance.
Screw her she should be in jail for 3 years at least. 2 DWI, possession, reckless endangerment and violation of probation. The two tier legal system in this country is a joke and for that matter so is California.
She needs help. Not sure about sticking her in jail for 3 years... it's not like she had possession of weapons like T.I.
I think she's getting off easy. 90 days is really nothing. If she wasn't a celebrity, she probably would have had a longer sentence to begin with and it wouldn't have taken 3 years to get that sentence. She should suck it up and realize that she needs to get in life in order. Maybe this jail time will set her straight.
Miss Lindsay Lohan you need to learn there are consequences for bad behavior. If you were not some type of celebrity, you would have already been in jail. You are headed down a very destructive path and are certainly not above the law.
She is going to stay at the same place Paris Hilton stayed. Paris walked out in designer clothes looking great and smiling for the cameras. Lindsey will do the same. She really needs to grow up. That nail polish thing was just stupid.
Shawn Chapman Holley obviously has a soft spot for stars that behave badly. I'm sorry, but what what Lindsay got was perfect for the fact that she has been fooling the court all these years and now it's caught up with her. She has to accept responsibility for her actions and a little time in the clink for her will do her good. Think about it this way. How long do think she will ACTUALLY be there? A week, two, maybe a month. But she has to grow up and it's now time.
Lindsey Lohan was relevant when she was 12...the entire second half of her life has been a complete waste of anyone's time who bothered paying attention to it. That said, her 90 day sentence will ultimately be about a week, tops, in LA's prison system. But she is always looking for a new girlfriend to replace Samantha, so now she has a chance.
But forget Lindsey, the news of the day is LeBron James.
LeBron James announces that he will buy the Miami Heat, endorse the New York Knicks, marry two of the LA Clippers’ Spirit Dancers in a Utah ceremony in August, become Executive Vice President of Mining and Distribution for Polyus Gold (NJ Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s gold empire) and play basketball part-time for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The lawyer was just doing her job. She has to come up with some mumbo jumbo as to why it's so harsh. If she was on neutral ground (as in not defending Lindsay) I'm sure she would agree that the punishment is fair, if not too little.
